I think this place would have to grow on me. First off, GREAT food! If you’re just wanting to call in & grab food to go, go for it! Their Early Bird Special(5-6pm) is for dine in and carry out, I just wish I’d known that before we stayed to eat. The price is also now $21.99. Their service isn’t the greatest. It took our entire dinner for me to figure if the waitress was rude or just painfully shy. By the end, she actually eased up and we joked a bit. We went on a Friday and they really should tell you if certain things aren’t going to be available. It’s as if their early bird is the ONLY thing you’re getting before 6 o’clock. We wanted sushi, but their sushi bar was closed. Ok. Understandable. Then, we wanted the soft shell crab appetizer. “Oh, sorry we don’t have soft shell.” Umm…you don’t sell it or you’re just out? Then we asked what appetizers they did have. They responded with none. What the heck? I had to keep my composure because it was our first time there but we’d heard so many good things about it. Overall, we really enjoyed our food. If that’s all you want, go for it! My fella ate his entire plate (big appetite) but I had leftovers that I enjoyed for two more meals. I can tell this place is popular and it’s somewhere regulars enjoy going. As far as any atmosphere or service, forget about it.

Sushi Japanese House – Menu with Prices – 520 TX-183, Fort Worth

We were excited to see this new Restaurant coming to the Westover Hills area serving sushi and Japanese cuisine. It is a welcome addition to an area specializing more in fast food. So we gave them a try last night and really enjoyed it. First, we were greeted with warm friendly smiles and greetings by the hostess and a waitress. We were just picking up some appetizers for now as I had prepared some fresh rockfish fillets at home and wanted some delicious sushi to go before the main meal. We weren’t disappointed. We got some sashimi of yellowtail Tuna, flying fish roe (Tobico) and sushi of eel (Unagi) and surf clam. You get 2 pieces per order. We also ordered tempura soft shell crab. The portions were not the biggest but everything was absolutely fresh which is vital with sushi orders. It was beautifully prepared and presented. Oh, for eat in diners, the decor of this brand spanking new restaurant is beautiful. The owners spared no expense in decorating this place. It is very nice. Prices are not unusual for a well run Japanese restaurant. A nice touch is that they have a hibachi grill and offer beautiful fillet minion and other steaks including surf and turf if you want. Probably the best value on the menu is the Bento box with a ton of food and variety too for $20. Go give them a try. We liked it a lot and are returning soon to have dinner. On my 3rd visit to Sushi Japanese House I decided to sit at the Sushi bar. Nice soft Jazz was playing and lunch time was a good time to escape the heat and hubbub outside. I decided on the Combo C lunch which offers 3 Sashimi, 4 Sushi and a California roll and salad for $16. So also tried their cold sake which was refreshing. It was deliciously fresh and so beautifully presented I had to grab a photo. Come by and give them a try.

Tibet Bowl & Sushi – Menu with Prices – 50 Main St, Salt Lake City

Sad to say this place is pretty terrible, i love nepalese food especially momo, unfortunately every component of the momo was bad, the dumpling shell was too thick and bread-y tasting, the meat filling had an offputting old tinge taste to it, and the sauce although it smelled excellent didnt have much flavor to it at all and was kinda creamy like tikka masala sauce or something, i didnt try the sushi but that should have been the red flag from the get go, sushi and nepalese food do not go together just like sushi and chinese food dont go together how do people not understand this!!!

Blue Sushi Sake Grill – Menu with Prices – 105 Summit At Fritz Farm Ste 130, Lexington

My boyfriend and I were seated and served quickly, we came in at 5 on a Thursday. We appreciated the atmosphere and felt welcome. As far as service goes we were greeted and helped by our server named Andrew. He explained the menu to us and was attentive, they were slow so we were checked on more than normal but I wait tables and understand that making sure your few tables are happy when you aren’t busy is considerate and it was appreciated. Let’s talk about their happy hour, I’ll be honest the happy hour is a great deal… most of their rolls are discounted and drinks are too, I had a margarita for less than $4. This was one of the main highlights for us. We absolutely loved the mango crab rangoons, it was our favorite part and probably the only thing we would order again. My boyfriend really enjoys Sapporo which is a Vietnamese beer that is served in many sushi restaurants, they of course carried the beer, but they served it out of a bottle with a cold glass, which would be great if a bottle of Sapporo is as good as it is out of a can (yes I know, normally beer is better out of a glass bottle) my only reason to highlight this is the fact that Blue has an entire wall displayed of Sapporo in a can but you can’t order it? Alright, Sushi time.. I’ll be blunt here, I’ve had better Sushi which is fine, but I’ve had better Sushi right down the road in Lexington. I ordered the Lion King Roll which was sort of meh, my boyfriend ordered a roll with soft shell crab (spider something roll, we can’t remember the name) so he was really happy to see that they carried one of his favorite types of shellfish BUT this roll was pretty disappointing for the price, a few pieces of his roll didn’t even have the soft shell crab in them. Overall our sushi was average at best. I rarely have pictures to post to my yelp reviews because I make it a point to not use my phone at the dinner table, but, if you’re looking for average sushi I’d go somewhere else.

KAPPO IRIFUNE – Menu with Prices – 1231 Cabrillo Ave #107, Torrance

This was the worst dining experience of the year. I was quite excited to have a family reunion here after reading many positives reviews. However, this restaurant came nowhere close to meeting my expectations. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. The server seated us inside a private room. The first red flag came up when I asked the server for recommendations. She responded, “I actually don’t know the menu well but I can go ask for you.” So my family just ordered on a whim. The appetizers came out about 30 minutes later. While I thought the food took a little longer, everything was ‘alright’ until then, even though the servers never checked up on us or refilled our water/drinks. We had to wait about 20 minutes more for our sushi. When the food finally came out, we found out that each order of sushi–$4 to $8 each–was only one piece. Honestly, I have never seen this system before besides for more expensive sushi like toro, bluefin, etc. We were pretty unhappy knowing that it would take some time for us to order and receive more food. It had already been almost an hour; sushi does not generally take this long to prepare even more so when the restaraunt is empty. Since the food was not enough to feed us, we decided to order another round of sushi with some rolls and udons. The sushi came out after another 45 mins. However, the udons and rolls were missing. By the time we were finishing up with the second round of sushi, we decided to leave and asked the server to cancel our food. The server told us that the rolls are prepared and coming out but that she would cancel the udons since they have not started preparing them yet. I was baffled at this point. Seriously, what were you guys doing for almost an hour? To top things off, it took another twenty minutes to bring our bill, which we had to initiate. The bill was wrong; they did not charge us for the sushi. I honestly wanted to just pay and leave at this point but told the server that they had undercharged us. It took the server another twenty minutes to fix our bill, which costed $200 more than the first. I did not enjoy my experience at Kappo Irifune, which lasted about two hours. The food was average and the server checked up on us only once during the entire meal. We literally had to walk outside the room to ask the server for anything. Please spend your precious money and time elsewhere. I will never be coming back.

Maki of Japan Menu with Prices 6000 Glades Rd # 1162A, Boca Raton

They had a fresh sushi sign hanging so I went in to order a Beginner’s Combo. But then the guy said they dont make sushi anymore so whatever is on display are available. I wanted a fresh sushi today. Not a cold, fresh from the fridge one. And cashier guy is on his phone IN FRONT while waiting for customers

Blue Fin Sushi Menu with Prices 102 S Samish Way, Bellingham

Went here with a group of sushi lovers who said this was their favorite sushi restaurant. I quickly saw why when I saw the extensive menu of sushi selections. We had everything from plum wine and saki to appetizers of edamame and dumplings then sushi (I had spicy chicken teriyaki since I am not a sushi fan). Also had great green tea ice cream for desert. Prices are a bit high. The quality of food and service is excellent. The restaurant was full and customers were flocking in for “to go” orders which displays that this is very popular destination for sushi.

Bento Sushi – Menu with Prices – 155 Clarke Rd, London

Willie Bird Turkeys – Menu with Prices – 5350 Sebastopol Rd, Santa Rosa

Willie Bird Turkeys are the best! I was a fan of Diestel turkeys for years, (that I ordered from my local meat market) but after a couple of bad experiences with Diestels , (from Whole Foods) I did some research and chose Willie Bird as my new turkey purveyor. Do to some Fed-ex issues last Thanksgiving, I opted to drive up to Santa Rosa to pick up my Willie Bird myself…so glad I did. We spent the day and had dinner in Healdsburg, then stayed the night in Santa Rosa. The next morning, we had breakfast and drove the few miles to Willie Bird. We arrived 30 minutes early, and they were not open yet, but we opted to wait. Within a few minutes, the light flicked on and a very nice woman opened the door and said “come on in”. I paid for my turkey, and a bag of bones and necks for my stock, but before leaving, I noticed the smoked turkeys…hmmmm. The gentleman next to me told me that his family purchased their first smoked turkey in 1979, and have not wavered since. “Smoked Willie every year.” I had to try the smoked turkey. I purchased a smoked breast (rather than the whole turkey) and it is the best smoked turkey ever. it is fantastic alone and on sandwiches!!! Smoked or not, Willie BIrd is the best!

The Vault Kitchen & Market – Menu with Prices – 2112 Bull St, Savannah

I am on a quest for good sushi in Savannah. Sadly, I have not found it yet. Another strike here at The Vault. I’ve given this place two chances because of the good reviews, but it didn’t own up, at least not in the sushi department. Why must this city dumb down sushi? When half the items on the sushi menu contain cooked fish/meat, I don’t think you’re trying. And should I start on the rice? My roll, The Local Red, had so much rice that I pulled off as much as I could without deconstructing the roll and I had a huge portion of rice left on my plate (see the photo). I’m sorry, I know this is disrespectful, and I probably should have sent it back, but I really wanted to try it. We mentioned this to our server who told us she had heard this same complaint from several other diners. And when I mentioned The Vault to coworkers, they responded without being prompted, “Their sushi has too much rice!” Wake up and smell the coffee, Mrs. Bueller! And even more disappointing was that after I removed excess rice, the roll was still tasteless and bland. OK, so why did I still give The Vault, an “A-OK” 3 stars after the sushi debacle? First of all, their interior is pretty awesome. The restaurant is in an old bank and they used bits and baubles like safe deposit box fronts and teller windows in the decor and it is spot on. I recommend you sit inside if possible. The porch doesn’t have the same ambiance. The service is good as well. And the other things on the menu we’ve tried besides sushi; and there is a good selection otherwise, have proven to be very good. Besides my roll, I had the Spicy Squid Salad and I really enjoyed it. It was a balanced combination of squid and seaweed and just spicy enough. My husband had the Roasted Duck Dumplings and we both liked those as well. So my recommendation to you is to try The Vault but avoid the sushi. I will be returning and trying some of their other main courses.

Little Katana Las Colinas – Menu with Prices – 6420 N MacArthur Blvd #140, Irving

My family and I came here for dinner one night and really enjoyed! We shared a few appetizers, the calamari (delicious and crispy. Had some fried jalapeños in there as well) and the jalapeño popper appetizer (also delicious with raw tuna and crab on top and jalapeño on bottom!). We all really enjoyed these. For entree most of my family for bento boxes. You need to ask for the dinner menu bento boxes if you want to order them, since the dinner bento menu is separate from the regular dinner menu. My boyfriend and I shared three sushi rolls, a classic spicy tuna, the spicy crawfish, and the sunny roll. All were delicious!! And really hit the spot of my sushi craving. All in all amazing food and my mom even enjoyed it! And she’s incredibly picky. As for the service, it was decent but a little lacking. Initially we had to wait a bit for them to get utensils/dinner napkin for us when the appetizers were already served. Secondly, when my mom got her bento box, it was supposed to come with shrimp and vegetable tempura but they skipped it on her plate, leaving just lettuce. When we told our waitress, she agreed. Five minutes later another waitress comes and said it didn’t come with the “nigiri” bento but my dad got that bento, not her. We corrected their mistake but it just took an altercation and misunderstanding to get there.

La Isla Yokomo – Menu with Prices – 2435 S Grove Ave, Ontario

I wanted to give this location a try since I had heard it was a must go to place. First off, I was skeptical about a sushi / mariscos place. That already sounded like a bad idea. Both cultures have their own beauty in terms of cuisine. Hence I felt that together they would sell the other short and in fact they did. The sushi was not at all authentic sushi. The rice was improperly made according to Japanese traditions. There was absolutely no fresh sushi only baked. They did not offer ginger nor wasabi what so ever. The mariscos aspect was not up to par. The previous night I had ate at Mar y Tiera nearby and by far their place could not measure up. Their micheladas are not the best either. All in all if you love sushi cuisine and all it’s delicate flavors, this is no place for you.

Lakeway Teriyaki Menu with Prices 806 Lakeway Dr, Bellingham

I really didn’t want to leave this place a review, but 10 minutes after eating has went by, and I just know that if I don’t say something it’s going to bug me. This is also why I have no photos attached. I wanted to eat everything and give my experience the benefit of the doubt. First, I could count on my hands how many pieces of chicken came with the chicken and california roll combo. There was more edamame in my order than chicken. Second, the sushi tastes like they bought sushi from Fred Meyer’s next door and just repackaged it. I ordered an extra soft shell crab roll and that too tasted like it came from a grocery store. Like if someone brought me just sushi from this place, I wouldn’t be able to guess if it was from a grocery store or from a restaurant. Third, the best part about my meal was actually the Miso soup that came with it (which was actually pretty good along with the rice). This place is the pinnacle of mediocrity. Why I’m giving them a 2 stars is because the worker was very friendly and polite. I didn’t catch her name but I was greeted with a smile and it didn’t take too long for the order to be made.
