This was the first stop on our A Game of Crawls, Game of Thrones themed pub crawl. I checked in at 8 and received a ton of candy, a crown, and beads. Most importantly I had a card which entitled me to 5 drinks at 5 different bars. First stop was the Booze Garden. Opened in 2017 it replaced Glitch Bar. I had never been here before but I loved it. The bar is decorated to look like a back yard with astro turf on the floor, fake shrubbery on the wall, and garden vines from the lighting. There is a large bar on the left wall. Rounding out the decor are arcade games and posters from my favorite movies from the 80’s and 90’s. They set up a fake snow machine outside because winter was here. They also hung up some GOT house banners on the wall to keep with the theme. I loved the music playing, The Killers and the White Stripes. On the TV star Wars was playing. I would have lingered longer but I had four more bars to make it to but I’ll definitely be back. This place had my kind of vibe.

I/O Arcade Bar – Menu with Prices – 720 Williamson St, Madison

One of my favorite bars in town. They don’t have a lot of games but the variety is there. From a wall of pinball machines, old school single players to new school 10 players. Yes, that’s 10 players – Killer Queen is the game and rare in the nation. You have racing games, fighting and shooting games. Another new one is a 4 player PAC-Man. And the 4 player console of Mario Smash Bris. projected on a screen (free to play, first come first serve). So the variety is definitely there. Also, most games have either cup holders built in or a spot along side of the game for your drinks. It does get pretty “pac” weekend nights but hey, there’s a bar you can get drinks from and tables you can chill at. The barcade has a nice balance between bar and arcade, whether you just want to hang and drink or just want to feed the machines with all your laundry quarters, they serve both purpose. They have an ATM and two change machines. And the staff are super friendly and can help with any game issues or tips on playing the games ?

Spare Time Chattanooga – Menu with Prices – 5518 Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga

This is a typical arcade nowadays where you load a card with money and swipe the card at the machine to play a game. (what happened to playing with quarters??) Most games are about 1.25 a play except for skee-ball which is 50 cents. The air hockey game played for about a minute, if that, and cut off. The second time we tried playing the puck kept getting stuck in the goal slot. And the game was still going on so we knew it wasn’t that it was over. One of the skee-ball machines wasn’t releasing the balls but it sure took your money from your card. We played Luigi’s haunted mansion and it completely shut off in the middle of the game. The staff member that was there restarted the machine and swiped her card so we can play again so that was nice. The basket ball game had two different scores on each side so that was weird. Couldn’t tell if I kicked my husband’s butt in that game or not lol. The prize room opened later and half the prizes didn’t have the ticket amount on them and the girl at the counter was too busy flirting with some guy to pay attention to anything going on. . There was also bowling but we didn’t play. Maybe that would have had less quirks.

Reboot Retrocade & Bar – Menu with Prices – 566 Cherry St, Macon

Cool place. Great collection of arcade games from the 80s with the soundtrack playing in the background. And they sell alcohol! We took our kids here on a Saturday afternoon (I think it goes to 21 and over after 6pm). It was not crowded. The games run on arcade tokens and most games are 1 token play. My kids, 7 and 12, had a blast learning how to play “real” video games where you have a joystick, a fire button and not much else. And my wife and SIL got into a Frogger competition. My only complaint…I couldn’t find Tempest.

Circuit Social – Menu with Prices – 258 Granby St, Norfolk

I loveeeee coming here!! I visited the original location in Richmond several times prior to this location. I was beyond excited that they were finally opening their second location in Norfolk that I visited a couple days after their grand opening. I’ve had nothing but great experiences every time I’ve been. I tend to mainly go on week nights, since the place is way less packed. Less crowds and lines which is better. Their system is different than the Richmond location. Rather than coins, they give you a reloadable card. I obtained a free membership card on my first visit because I knew I’d be returning quite often. When adding money on your card, it is divided in 2 sections: game credits and food/drink credit. They have a large variety of classic nostalgic games and some newer games. They range from Dig Dug, Super Mario, Street Fighter, Time Crises to Halo, Beer Pong, and DDR. There is seriously something for everyone! I grew up playing a lot of arcade and video games, so this place allows me to once again enjoy my favorite games. It’s always fun coming here with a group of friends of compete with. My friends and I love playing the 4 player Pac-Man. During one of our visits, one of the employees, BJ, saw how much we were enjoying the game, that he even gave us more free credits so we could keep playing!! How nice!! I also really love the pour your own beer wall. They have a large selection of beers and wines which constantly rotates. It’s great being able to serve yourself as well as trying everything. The beer is charged per ounce but I don’t find it too pricey. I have not encountered any issues with it. I think it’s a really cool concept! The only minor issue that I have encountered here is that there are always several games out of order. It’s bumming when you look forward to a particular game and it isn’t working. Every visit, it’s different games, so it seems like the machines are being fixed but I guess another one breaks down right after. Regardless, it does not prevent me from having a good time. Young or old, this place has something for every game lover! This is a great addition to downtown Norfolk! I highly recommend checking it out!

Can Can Wonderland – Menu with Prices – 755 Prior Ave N #004, St Paul

Visited Can Can Wonderland on evening of September 14th 2019. 1) Checked on website and noted a $5.00 cover charge Friday / Saturday nights after 8:30 p.m. So I made sure we got there before 8:30 p.m. to avoid the cover charge as we were just there for the arcade games and not live music. Instead we were charged $2.00 (each) entrance fee even though there is no mention of THIS fee on the website. 2) We were encouraged to buy a 60 minute card for $18.00 which means you have to play 36 games in 60 minutes. Many of the games were out of order or had not been turned on when we were there. (Noticed that a whole room of pinballs were not working because someone hadn’t turned on the power). It would have been cheaper to pay per machine. 3} The place was hotter than hell and humid with no apparent air movement. Facilities were poorly maintained (stairwell rails hadn’t been maintained in years) signage was negligible, and the place has zero sound dampening. 4) Arcade machine maintenance was non existent with many machines out of order and the machines that were suppose to work had broken flippers, broken card swipes, etc. As an arcade, their competitors are much better and cheaper. I used no other parts of the venue so I won’t comment on anything else.

The Coin-Op Arcade – Menu with Prices – 233 E M L King Blvd, Chattanooga

I think this place is one of my favorites in Chattanooga. There was an article out about the owner and how he used his childhood toys (which are awesome by the way) to decorate. Pros: – Cheap drinks (beer + soda) – variety of beers – food specials during the week (and they are usually cheap and themed as something you would make at home. – customer service is great – fun arcade games and some are even free to play – stage and live entertainment some nights Cons: – no liquor – but it’s not that kinda vibe – not many places to sit and eat (but again it’s not that kind of place) I find myself constantly playing Guardians of the Galaxy pinball. It’s worth a stop just to play!! Such a cool game. There’s a coin machine there to get your coins and atm! The bartenders are always friendly and quick to get you food or drinks! Every time I meet someone here, they’re super friendly! Also – this place is dog friendly!

1-Up Lounge Menu with Prices 1121 McKenzie Ave, Bellingham

This is a place for video game lovers. Super friendly owner. They have 2200 video games, all free to play when you order a glass of alcohol beverage. After the first game, $2 for the next game and so forth (if I remember correctly). If you don’t drink alcohol, $6 (or $5?) per hour to play a game. They have Nintendo, Wii, Sega Genesis, Xbox, Play Station, etc. If you want to play longer, you may want to ask for a 1-day pass. This may be a good place to check out some games you heard about, or try out games before you decide to purchase one. Downtown Sporting Club – Menu with Prices – 411 Broadway, Nashville

Most of the bars on Broadway have live music, open space, and a rooftop bar. Not to say that those bars aren’t awesome, but if you’re looking to play some games while having a drink, this might be a nice change of pace. After exploring some of the bars the city has to offer, we decided to check this place out. The Downtown Sporting Club is composed of four floors: First floor – In addition to a restaurant & bar, this floor offers ping pong and corn hole. They also have a picture worthy “Nashville looks good on you” wall pictured in my review. Second floor – In addition to a bar offering alcoholic slushees, this floor includes a variety of activities to choose from. They have axe throwing, which I recommend making a reservation for, arcade games, foosball, and a “lawn” area to watch several sports games simultaneously. Third floor – This floor is for “hotel” guests so we were unable to go to this floor. Pretty cool concept nonetheless. Fourth floor – More games, but outdoors on their rooftop. The rooftop offers a view of Broadway. They also have a dance floor and photo booth inside. If you’re looking for a place to chill, I recommend this fun spot!

The Board Room Game Cafe – Menu with Prices – 1256 Barrington St, Halifax

Just missing a good system to find the game you want. Overview Halifax has needed a spot like The Board Room Game Cafe for a long, long time! Before this place, all we really had were movies, bars and coffee shops. Now we have this! And we also have a few Virtual Reality lounges in the city which is a huge bonus. Environment / Atmosphere The main area is the best decorated and designed. You are surrounded by other people at tables playing games I have never head of. HOWEVER, the other spots in the cafe have less to be desired. There is another room that fits about the same amount of people as the main area and it’s just an unappealing room with bad lighting. So there’s growth that’s needed. Games They have every game I’ve ever heard of. However I have yet to discover a system that they have in order to find the game you want. If you have an exact one in mind, you have to wait to ask a staff member cause it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. The games aren’t organized alphabetically like one would suspect. It would be great if they had some sort of system that anyone could recognize and utilize to find the game they want right away. Food and Drink Really good! And they make sure they have low-cost food options like popcorn that are fun options for everyone! Side-note, right now, if you check-in there, you’ll get a free popcorn. That’s as of March, 2018. No promises for those reading this review in 2025 when robots have taken over our planet and Elon Musk is president of Earth. Customer Service Helpful but I’m starting to feel they are a bit overworked. I’ve noticed patience levels of some of the staff who are explaining the games to be a bit on the shorter side. So I think more staff need to get trained up on how to play the games and/or hire one or two more people. Conclusion Thank god this place exists. It’s a great date option or just a way to hang out with your friends and have a blast without music blaring into your ear like at every bar in the city.lol.

d4 Tabletop Gaming Café – Menu with Prices – 8228 Oak St, New Orleans

Was in town looking for a place to get a tabletop game on for Father’s day, and was lucky to find a couple of reviews that pointed us here. (Since there was a comic book store just up the street and GW store around the corner, planning seemed like a geeky trifecta.) We took the Streetcar from Canal, and had no problem finding the shop at all. When we stopped in, we were impressed by the selection of games, friendly staff, inexpensive menu, and clean state of the shop. We ended up renting and playing through a couple of different games and enjoying a very inexpensive lunch. After, we picked up a few things to take home with us. While we were there, a D&D group was playing at one of the front table, and a demo ran at another. During our time a couple of other D&D groups came in and took up residence at other tables. This made it seem like it would be a great place to find a pick-up game or join a longer running campaign. They had a nice range of RPG books, minis, CCGs, and dice for sale, in addition to food and drinks. They also had branded dice bags and similar sundries. Our favorite novelty was the gumball machine that was loaded with RPG dice. If you’re into tabletop games or just curious about them, this is a definite must see.

Free Play Bar Arcade – Menu with Prices – 182 Pine St, Providence

Freeplay Bar and Arcade puts Dave and Busters, and every other arcade I’ve ever patronized to shame. This is by far the greatest collection of arcade games under one roof that I’ve ever seen. The owner must be a very experienced gamer because he has an extensive collection of all the best titles. Visiting Freeplay Bar and Arcade was a rush of nostalgia for me. Classic games such as mortal Kombat 2, Mortal Kombat 3, The Simpson’s, Time Crisis, Tetris, Altered Beast, Golden Tea, Bust a Move, and Metal Slug…..doesn’t get better, and the best thing of all, everything is free play! It costs a nominal fee of $5 for weekdays and $10 on the weekends to enter this gem, and this is literally the only thing you pay for. Since everything is free play, this is honestly the only time I ever beaten Altered Beast, The Simpson’s, and House of the Dead. Thank you Free Play Bar and Arcade!

Rook & Rogue Board Game Pub Menu with Prices 206 W Magnolia St, Bellingham

This is a very unique restaurant/pub in Bellingham. The owner is from Orlando, who thought Bellingham is “the place” to have a Boardgame pub and started it. They have 1300 board games on site. Many of them are free to play, some are $5, and some serious big games are $10 to play. If you are serious game player, you may want to pay $50/year membership to play $5 games, and $100/year membership to play $10 games. Membership comes with a free on entree meal on your birthday and free dessert. They have tables with a game board built in (I heard they paid around $2500 for the table). You can keep playing on the table till the food is ready and when food comes, they’ll install the table top on the table to eat, then after eating, they’ll remove the table top for you to continue playing the game. Some games like “Twilight Imperium” will take 13-17 hours to finish, therefore you may want to reserve the table for 2 days to complete the game. “Dark Tower” electronic board game came out in 1981 was on the $10 shelf. This game is discontinued and not made anymore, but you can still play at this place ? There is one boardgame pub in Seattle, but they say each boardgame pubs has its own characteristics and none of them are the same.
