I was so glad to see this gallery open on 2nd avenue and 2nd street NE. This part of town has a growing artsy vibe, and this gallery is the perfect addition. Downstairs, two rooms and a foyer display a changing exhibit of the best of regional artists, while upstairs artists represented by gallery owner Gerard Benson hold court in two of the four rooms, along with the office space of Gerard Benson, patent attorney, and studio space holding local artists. Prices range from inexpensive to ultra High-End. There is something there for people of all different means.

Hungerart Gallery – Menu with Prices – 1222 Sutter St, San Francisco

I wanted to say I attended the gallery’s opening on March 30th, 2019, the Dreams Exhibit, and I was so impressed by the space and art on display! A pristine space, full of light and beautiful art pieces by Chris Lee, I was so excited to be in attendance. A lot of good folks came out to celebrate the opening of this new space for art. As I understand it, Chris Lee, the owner, is going to give access to other artists as well, to affordably display their works of art. And, he will also broker the purchase of these art pieces. The locale of the Hungerart Gallery is so central to San Francisco’s social, artistic, musical scenes, with the opera, ballet, and symphony halls nearby, plus theatres, ACT, and also the downtown and all it’s incredible amenities, night-life, clubs, restaurants, and so much more! I know this gallery will have many more years of success to come. It was a joy to be a part of the opening night. ?

Home Malone – Menu with Prices – 4610 Magazine St, New Orleans

Yeah! Home Malone has a second location making it super easy to buy cool things as gifts for yourself or others. Representing artwork from a truckload of local artists as well as the artist/owner Kristin Malone, this shop has a ton to offer: Original artwork Prints Cards Hand Towels Local spice collections Soaps T-shirt’s Door decorations Jewelry Decor items. On this fine day, there was also a pop up event that had artists located on the adjacent patio area. Fun to meet and see a variety of artists and their art. I love supporting local and I have been buying Kristen’s artwork for my home and gifts long before she had a retail space. Her stores allow me to support several local artists all in one spot.

3614 St Claude – Menu with Prices – 8298-8200 Sycamore St, New Orleans

This is a lovely new gallery located in the middle of all of the hustle and bustle of St. Claude. The gallery is small, located in the front of a double, but there’s a lot packed into the space. I was here for the “Please, could you stop the noise” exhibit of local photography work and I just loved how it was all set up. The room is “bare bones” with remnants of old wallpaper on the walls, which I just love. When a gallery is too clean, especially in New Orleans, it just doesn’t feel quite right (NOMA excluded). Susan, one of the owners is so sweet and greeted me as soon as I walked in. The photography was laid out in such a fashion that I could enjoy each piece individually without feeling like any one bit is crowding in on another. This quaint gallery is worth a visit and I can’t wait to see what they show next.

The Nine Muses – Menu with Prices – 809 E Erwin St, Tyler

Cool music venue. Local artists. Very urban, underground vibe. Covered but Outdoors, so dress for the weather. BYOB but inexpensive water and sodas available for purchase. I donâ??t think I saw anyone drinking alcohol though. Reasonable cover. Very young crowd. Almost exclusively high school and college kids. Some moshing near the stage. Everyone very friendly and respectful.

ZAMZUU OPPORTUNITY – Menu with Prices – 1116 W Orange Ave, Tallahassee

My husband and I went on an immersion here with Driftour and were totally blown away! What a cool space to learn a new craft! I was nervous to work with the glass and fire but Jeff was a totally awesome teacher and made me feel like a pro. There was also a lot of cool stuff in their gallery area including some pieces by some cool artists I already know. Chantel gave us a tour of the studio areas and educated us about some really cool features about their space. I can?t wait to come back here for some of their future events and classes.

Syrup and Eggs – Menu with Prices – 107 Custom St, Chattanooga

Syrup and Eggs has the market on unique, made-to-order brunch offerings in Chattanooga. Chef Ocia delivers the tastiest meals with just the right amount of personality and quirk — I love it! They operate out of an old Fire Hall, fully furnished with a back patio for those nice weather days. Upstairs is an art gallery, if you want to pursue work by local artists. The service is pretty quick, though you might have to wait a bit during the busy hours. Come early for the quickest meal, if you’re in a hurry. Everyone has heard about this place now, so it’s in high demand! My standard meal isn’t standard at all! I generally choose from the a la carte menu, where you can get a taste of everything your heart desires! The blue cornmeal pancakes are an easy winner for the adventurous eater but also accessible enough for the typical pancake lover. You can tell that they care about their food here, and it shows up in all the clever uses of flavor, colors, options, and even seasonal edible flowers and local herbs! The farm fresh eggs are impeccable and are a game-changer for eggs at breakfast. No GMO products, either! The list goes on and on about why this is such a unique and special place in Chattanooga, perfect for repeat locals or the traveler who wants to get a taste of a restaurant that captures the heart of chat it means to eat in Chattanooga – local, accessible, creative, and memorable!

Swamp City Gallery Lounge – Menu with Prices – 404 SE 2nd St, Gainesville

Swamp City feels like a 2nd home. Located in a revamped 118 year old house, good vibes and relaxing times await you. Local artists, musicians, and cannabis advocates spend a lot of time here because it’s a great place to share a beer, ideas, and just enjoy each other’s company. The most beautiful high end glass you’ll ever see is here and available for sale. There is art from world renowned artists like Alex Grey. I haven’t even mentioned the delicious and therapeutic CBD dabs available or the friendly and knowledgeable staff! I hear they have #TeamFloridaPatient spring water, CBD infused beverages and Wellspring Kombucha too! There’s food trucks and amazing DJs and SO much more coming soon! Do yourself a favor and come enjoy some time in this space with friends. You won’t regret it.

Crosstown Arts – Menu with Prices – 1350 Concourse Ave #280, Memphis

We explored Crosstown Concourse this weekend when we visiting my brother in law in Memphis, and Crosstown Arts was a highlight for sure! Crosstown Arts is a free gallery within the Concourse that features temporary exhibits. When we visited, we were blown away by an exhibit: “Give a Damn! Music + Activism at Stax Records.” The exhibit featured artifacts (including Isaac Hayes’s office desk and outfits worn on stage by Stax artists like Johnnie Taylor and Isaac Hayes), music, rare photos, and original artwork created by Shelby County middle school students. It was interesting and of great local interest! A very well laid out exhibit. If we lived in Memphis, I’d certainly make it a point to read up about their exhibits as they open and to visit any of those that interested me! Wonderful visit!

Imurj – The Artists’ Cafe – Menu with Prices – 300 S McDowell St, Raleigh

What makes Imurj worthy of a five-star review is what they are doing for local artists. All kinds. This is a usable venue for folks who want to express themselves and for those of us who want to appreciate the arts. It is downstairs from Whiskey Kitchen downtown. There is a little shop area selling local artists’ work. There is a small stage, small bar and various seating areas…couches, fold out chairs and high tops. Kudos for a good size women’s room with several stalls. My only dislike was that the small bar was short-staffed on the night we went, so it took forever to get drinks. But to me, that is off-set by what they are doing for Creatives! Highly recommend keeping an eye on their website, because there’s no telling what shows and terrific entertainers are coming up next!

Woolworth Walk Menu with Prices 25 Haywood St, Asheville

What a cool way to preserve a historic Woolworth Building. This place is a huge art gallery, almost 20,000 square feet, with an old fashioned soda fountain. It will remind older folks of the Woolworth Luncheonette counters of the past. This particular building was built in 1938. When we visited, we were in a hurry, so we just stopped in for chocolate malts. During my next visit, I would love to spend some extra time looking at the art created by local artists. You will find examples of jewelry, fine arts, decorative arts as well as crafts.

Renaissance Family Practice – Menu with Prices – 111 Sheridan St, Pittsburgh

Where do I begin? My disappointment isn’t even with the actual appointment because I did not end up having an actual appointment because I was refused to be seen even though I called to let them know I was running just 10 minutes late. I felt that I would be nice enough to call and let the office know that I was 10 minutes late but was literally at the corner of the street, only to be put on hold for several minutes. For the period of about four minutes that I was at the light in the rush-hour traffic as well as just sitting on hold in general only for the lady to get back on the phone and tell me that I had to reschedule. I told the lady that I could understand if it was over 15 minutes due to the policy of most offices but I found that a little absurd. She then had the nerve to tell me that though I couldn’t come in and see the doctor because I need to reschedule, I could always just come in and try to talk to the doctor to see if they will see me. So first I’m told that I can’t be seen but then I’m told that I should go ahead and come and waste my time trying to convince the doctor to see me? No thanks I’ll go to a different doctors office. It would be understandable if the office was packed but I could even see the office from down the street where I was at and there’s no way they would not of been able to see me.

Torpedo Factory Art Center Menu with Prices 105 N Union St, Alexandria

Old town is so lucky to have this great arts center which has always brought life, energy and curious crowds to N. Lee Street. I love the textile shops as well as the imaginative pottery artists and the main art gallery where you can purchase high quality and very reasonably priced original art for very reasonable prices—go, and don’t forget the two upper floors of galleries…so nice to be able to ask working artist about their art in progress right in the galleries–all so friendly so go for it and have fun! And, please note the real deal long torpedo against the wall on the main floor….yes, the place was a torpedo factory very much in use during WWII…history is there—and you are standing in it!!!
