We’ve been getting food from here at work since this location opened. At first the wings were an impressive size, meaty, and flavorful. While the cheese steak has kept its quality, the wings have gone completely downhill. They are tiny, overcooked, and lacking in sauciness. If we order from here again I will probably just stick with the cheesesteak. I do have to add that I tried the fried rice today and it was pretty good. The only complaint I have is that they do not have white sauce like your traditional hibachi restaurant.

Ninja grill poke & hibachi – Menu with Prices – 9 E Lane Ave, Columbus

Wow. This place is great and just what campus needs. Fairly similar to bibibop but grilled hibachi. As I walked in I was greeted by their friendly staff who gave me the run down. They offer many appetizers and fried rice options but the stars of the show are their build your own hibachi or poke meals. They hand you a slip where you make your own bowl. Pick your appetizers and extras then decide how you want your hibachi or poke. I went with a steak hibachi. I checked off steak, rice as my base, then you get 5 veggies. I chose green beans, cabbage, corn, bean sprout, and carrots. Then you get to pick a sauce for them to mix in, I went with teriyaki. Lastly you get dipping sauce on the side, I went with the sweet n spicy….all I can say is wow. They cook everything to order . It was hot n fresh off the grill. My veggies were perfectly cooked. I dont care for them to be under cooked or raw and they were not. These were outstanding. So good I might even be able to just get a steamed veggie bowl here. The sauce was good too. I dont like my teriyaki too salty or too sweet, ninja grill has the perfect balance. And that sweet n spicy…oh yeah I need a bottle of that because is was the bomb….seriously. Campus has been lacking this type of fast n casual cuisine. I promise you wont be disappointed here. Be adventurous, they have a lot of options and it’s super reasonable. My steak hibachi was a huge portion for only $8.95. Definitely reccomend going to try this place out.

Straight Outta Philly – Menu with Prices – 809 Old Oyster Point Rd, Newport News

Let me start with the lady working the front, she was so nice and professional! The diner is real cute and clean from what I seen on my visit. I ordered a small cheesesteak extra cheese with onions, lettuce and tomatoes and 6 hot wings. The wings were great! They are breaded and I asked for well done so they were perfect. What I love about this is, the sauce was on the side instead of on the wings which would have made them soggy. Sauce and blue cheese was perfect together with the wings. Ok on to the cheesesteak, it was ok. Very meatyyyy but not much flavor. I just added a little ketchup. I didnt care for the lettuce and tomatoes so I will not put it on my sandwich again. But overall everything was good and I will return again.

Crave Wings – Menu with Prices – 13633 Warwick Blvd #1, Newport News

Crave Wings is what I consider a chicken wing gem in Newport News. The location is off Warwick in a small shopping center around other international stores. The inside is decorated with simple decor and decent seating for a casual restaurant. A few TV’s are on the walls and the place is always clean. The restaurant has a moderate sized menu of both American fare (Burger & Sandwiches) and Korean food, but the main attraction is the chicken wings (bone-in). The chicken wings are pretty large as compared to Wingstop or Buffalo Wild Wings. They are unbreaded, flash fried wings, that are coated in your dry rub or sauce of choice. They have plenty of sauce/dry rub options from honey BBQ, to garlic pepper, to traditional hot. A 10 wing combo with french fries and drink will run you about $14 which is still comparable to other chicken wing restaurants. The food is cooked to order so you’ll have wait, usually about 10 minutes, but the wings are worth it. The chicken wings and the sauces are flavorful. The chicken wing meat tastes as if it’s been brined or marinated before it was actually flash fried. Once fried, the wings have a slight exterior crunch. The french fries are just your basic crinkle cut fry and I’m pretty sure they are unsalted unless you ask. You could probably skip on those and use your money to get another side or more chicken wings. The fries can’t be substituted out of the combo though so you’ll have to buy the side separate. Beyond the traditional wings and a few sides, I can’t speak to much of the other items on the menu. If you are going to a place called Crave Wings, I can’t imagine you’d be looking to get anything other than the wings anyway. They are the star.

hibachi express – Menu with Prices – 2051 Henderson Rd, Columbus

Tried it with partner and daughter Saturday evening around 6pm. Only one other couple there but another customer was in parking lot waiting for carryout order. Cons: ALL food is served in styrofoam even if you are eating there. It’s hibachi so it’s fresh but they don’t cook in front of you. You order at a counter and they cook in their kitchen area. So don’t think you are getting a “show” for the kids. Unappealing Christian music so it doesn’t feel like an Asian experience. No knives, no chopsticks, no adult beverages, no white/steamed rice (only “fried” rice but without egg, peas, etc). Their brown sauce in which everything is served is very sweet, not soy tasting at all. Prices are $7-$15 depending on what you order so while some people would say it’s less expensive than other hibachi places it’s actually the same if you were eating lunch at another hibachi place but much less if you were expecting to pay dinner prices at another hibachi place. Pros: clean place, patient, kind staff. Excellent EGG YOLK sauce. You get to choose what veggies you want-BRILLIANT! I probably won’t eat there again simply because the sweet flavor and lack of rice options but my partner liked it more than I did so I say you should give it a shot.

HIBACHI EXPRESS KISSIMMEE – Menu with Prices – 1946 N John Young Pkwy, Kissimmee

I’m writing my review after my second visit and my initial impressions of this restaurant still holds. Originally I was going to another nearby express hibachi restaurant before work, but they had about a 15 min wait and closed in 45 minutes (leaving me 30 mins to eat). I did a quick Yelp search and found this restaurant close by and decided to give them a shot. I’m glad I did! This is your local “hole-in-the-wall” Asian restaurant that’s hidden in the Publix plaza, but offers so much more. The atmosphere is a bit distracting with all the changing colored lighting, but I think it gives it a more “modern” feel, in contrast to the traditional rigid dark brown booths you come to expect from Asian restaurants. Surprisingly they play traditional Asian ballad music (think Michael Buble, but in Chinese?), instead of your normal Top 40 or instrumentals. Enough about the atmosphere and onto the food. As the name implies, it’s hibachi express: no show, no thrills, no flaming onion volcanoes, you order at the counter and they bring it out to you. The food here is really affordable, a chicken & steak hibachi with plain fried rice, veggies, and a tiny ginger salad is $13, and add a soup for $1.50! Most other hibachi restaurants start around $20 for the same meal. As I said, the salad is really tiny, basically a cup with 5 pieces of lettuce and a tomato slice with more than enough dressing to drown your salad. I tried the Clear Soup the first time and Miso the second. The Clear Soup is miles ahead of the Miso unfortunately. The Clear Soup was loaded with mushrooms and you could taste the flavors of the mushrooms with subtle sweet & saltiness you expect of Clear [Onion] Soup. The Miso Soup looks exactly what you’d expect of it, but it lacks in taste. There was no saltiness to the broth and tasted only like tofu & seaweed that was placed into warm water. Now the hibachi is why you’re eating here and in terms of quality, it’s not the best, but also not the worst. It’s a little better than what I’d expect from a restaurant if this type. Both times I had the chicken & steak and both times it’s been a little on the dryer side. Luckily, the chicken & steak is tossed in a bit of black pepper and teriyaki sauce to add to the taste. However, what it lacks in quality (compared to Kobe or Benihana), it makes up for in quantity. You still get about the same amount of food as the larger restaurants, one entree is enough to feed two people. Both times I’ve had to take my food to work with me (not that that’s a bad thing). Overall, this is an amazing local hibachi restaurant with friendly staff. If I had to choose between here and Kobe, would I rather spend $30 at Kobe or $15 here? If I was celebrating something special or with a large group, Kobe in a heartbeat, but for an everyday meal that leaves me full and happy, I’m glad I found this Hibachi Express.

Hibachi To Go – Menu with Prices – 894 S Kerr Ave STE 7, Wilmington

This is only my second time ordering from this place and I will never go back they messed up or order the first time and the food taste bland. My boyfriend wanted hibachi again and this is the only place with a drive thru so he was gonna give it another try. I ordered spring roll, the steak and chicken with fried rice, and an a key lime cheesecake. When I got home and gave him his food they gave him a cookie dough cheesecake and steamed rice; went back told them they messed up and gave me the wrong pie and steamed rice not fried they were okay and was gonna fix it when I got home they fixed the pie and again gave bland steamed rice. I didn’t wanna make a trip over there for a third time, so I just called and they basically said we were lying and got the correct food. I’ll just stick to hibachi bistro they are always nice and I’ve never gotten the wrong food.

America?s Best Wings – Menu with Prices – 12551 Jefferson Ave Suite 207, Newport News

I frequently order wings from this place and may I add I usually spend a lot of money here as I order for my family and take a large amount of food to family who live too far to drive here. The sauce is always lacking which is why I order extra sauce. I asked for extra sauce on the side with my wings and when they brought my wings out there was not extra side. The guy proceeded to say it’s on the wings which I said I asked for it on the side AND then he asked who took my order. When he said something to the guy who took my order (instead of just getting the extra sauce) the guy who took the order said it’s on the wings. He goes “you didn’t say you wanted it on the side” in which I said “yes I did”. First I’m a paying customer don’t argue with me about some sauce and secondly it doesn’t matter if I did or did not GET THE SAUCE. Horrible customer service and I won’t be returning. It’s already annoying to have to ask for extra sauce because they do not know how to properly sauce their wings. I refuse to give them my money just to be argued with.

Barry’s Cheesesteaks – Menu with Prices – 1161 S 2nd St, Louisville

I’ve been wanting to try Barry’s Cheesesteaks and More for quite sometime now, and I was excited about their new location on 2nd St since it’s more convenient for me than the Preston one. If you’re looking for a lunch spot with no frills and a great tasting filling Philly cheesesteak I definitely recommend this place. I’ll elaborate a bit more…. Okay so, looking on the outside and walking in the place needs drastic improvement in the decor department. It’s probably still undergoing some cosmetic stuff, but it definitely gives a hole in the wall feel. Maybe that’s what they are going for, I’m not sure. For me it’s not entirely a turn off because this would be a quick lunch spot after school, but still for some people it might be a deal breaker. The customer service wasn’t the warmest or friendliest, but once again this is a grab and go eatery for me. I’ve read about the long lines and I’ve driven past and seen them myself so when I wasn’t able to get there at 11am when they opened I was prepared for a long wait. I got there at about 11:30 and walked right up and ordered, and in total probably spent about 15-20 mins waiting for my order, so not terrible, but something to keep in mind on a time crunch. I looked up the menu before hand and we decided on what we wanted to eat. My boyfriend specifically requested the Spicy Garlic & Herb Wings, but when I got to the counter to order I was informed this location didn’t serve wings. Which was disappointing bc the website didn’t indicate a different menu for this location. The food was good. I’m not a huge cheesesteak fan, but this sandwich definitely made me a fan. I got a 12in Mushroom Cheesesteak ($12.90) (wasn’t aware of how stuffed with meat this was) and it was absolutely delicious. I polished off half and the other half warmed up nicely the next day. My boyfriend had the classic 6in Philly Cheesesteak ($6.70) and was equally satisfied. Our only complaint being we both wish there was more cheese. The cheese was on the bottom of the sandwich, but I wish it was poured overtop as well. I will definitely add it next time I go. We spilt an order of B-Right fries which are just seasoned fries and I like those as well. Next time I’ll head out to the Preston location just to try some wings and to see if it’s a more inviting environment. The food lived up to the hype for me, I just wish the location did as well. Regardless I’ll be back to demolish another 12in Philly Cheesesteak.

Hibachi Express Menu with Prices 1815 Walton Way, Augusta

This restaurant is in an area that it was much needed in!!! Most of the restaurants on the street are mostly burger and fries joints. This place is still fast food, but it’s Hibachi and Japanese cuisine. I didn’t realize this place was open when it was until I was going to another restaurant on this street and missed the turn and saw they were open and quickly turned in here. I didn’t really know what to except because it was a fairly new business and I never heard of Japanese fast food. The place was immaculately clean when I walked in. This place has a drive thru window but I wanted to see what the inside was like before I checked out the drive thru window. The cashier was very friendly and seems to already enjoy his job. I started with something pretty safe, which was the Hibachi chicken. It came with Hibachi chicken chunks, fried rice, and mixed vegetables. The chicken was very flavorful and cooked very well. The vegetables were good as well. The cook put too much teriyaki sauce on my rice and drowned it. I hate my rice being drowned in anything. I like to taste my rice. The second time I came I order the Hibachi steak. It wasn’t flavorful as the chicken. It seems like they just took it out the freezer with no seasoning and put it on the grill. The cook did follow my instructions this time and not add the teriyaki sauce to my rice. The second time I came, I came during lunchtime on a weekday. I was so surprised how crowded it got. I guess the word has really gotten out about this place. The cashier was very friendly and helped as much as she could. I’m glad to see this business is thriving already and hope that they stay in business a while!!!

Flat Top Hibachi Grill Menu with Prices 2504 Triplett Blvd, Akron

I’ve been meaning to check out Hibachi Xpress for quite some time now. I love me some hibachi food, but it’s a little out of my college student price range to indulge often. Hibachi Xpress seemed like it would fill my needs, with a single entree starting at 12 dollars. For 19 dollars, I got the triple entree. The meal comes with your choice of proteins, fried rice, vegetables, your choice of sauce, and a fortune cookie. I ordered chicken, steak, and shrimp, with yum-yum sauce, and steamed rice instead of fried rice. The food took around 10 minutes to cook, so I just watched the kung fu movie on the TV. The woman working the counter mentioned that the chef threw in a free egg roll, so that was pretty cool. About the food: The chicken, shrimp, and vegetables were cooked well and seasoned perfectly. The egg roll was fried nicely as well. I would definitely pay for the chicken, shrimp, and egg roll again. The steak, rice, and fortune cookie were underwhelming. (I know, I know, a bad fortune cookie? Yeah, it tasted old and was smashed.) The steak tasted like gristle. I could taste that it was a cheap cut. The rice wasn’t cooked properly either, too grainy. It was definitely bland as well. So all things considered, I might pay for a single entree if I’m in a pinch. Otherwise, I’d go to my good old stand-by hibachi place where I get more, better quality food.

Wing Cookout – Menu with Prices – 303 W 70th St, Shreveport

This place has quickly become my go to for wings and fried rice. They have many combos. The chicken is served bone in and you can order a number of different popular flavors and combinations. The rice is a traditional Chinese fried rice but you can order extras like chicken, shrimp and egg. They also make hamburger combos. This is a take-out/takeaway establishment but since it is located in what was once a sonic restaurant, one can eat in a parked car. The staff are pleasant and are willing to answer any questions you have about the menu items and make menu suggestions. Service is great overall and the location is generally safe. Oishi Sushi – Menu with Prices – 817 Botetourt Ct #105, Chesapeake

I have mixed reviews about Oishi Sushi. I ordered from this restaurant several nights ago. The food was amazing. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I ordered shrimp/chicken hibachi. My boyfriend and daughter ordered the shrimp fried rice. Portion sizes are good. My order arrived with miso soup and salad. The food was flavorful, fresh and visual appealing. I was so pleased that I ordered again on Tuesday night. This time I ordered hibachi steak/shrimp. Oh boy! The food was not warm and looked and tasted as if the preparation had been rushed. The flavor was still there, but the shrimp was overcooked. The chunks of steak were cut larger than expected and a bit chewy. I’m not ready to write this place off yet. I’m giving them another try soon and will update my review at that time. Giving 4 stars for now simply based on the first amazing experience.
