I absolutely love this store! The best cake decorating supply store in the area. When I walked in the door today I was greeted with excited, “Oh I’m so glad you came in. I just got some new icing tips in and right away I thought of you!”. Now how is that for service, and of course I bought the whole set of Christmas Russian tips?ð???

“Svetlana” European Deli – Menu with Prices – 620 SE Everett Mall Way # 270, Everett

Excellent European deli. I felt like I was back in Russia. They have a large supply of frozen pelmeni, the primary reason for my visit to this store. They have a wide variety of Russian goods, similar to what you will find at most Russian/European stores of this type. I was in a hurry so I didn’t have a ton of time to explore. One note: if you are unfamiliar with Russian desserts, they are much less sweet and generally much more dry than American desserts. The previous reviewer perhaps did not have this knowledge, as he/she complained about the desserts he/she purchased being dry. I am thrilled to have found this store near me, and will return very soon.

Cameo Cakes – Menu with Prices – 2403 W 13th St N, Wichita

The flavors are nothing more than your typical supermarket box mix – they’re not bad at all but they’re not gourmet either (however you aren’t paying for gourmet so it’s okay). I do feel though that corners were cut on the groom’s cake but obviously there was nothing we could do about it because we didn’t know exactly what the cake looked like until it showed up just before the wedding (to be more specific – we agreed to text being piped on with icing but instead an ugly screen print was placed on the cake in lieu of the icing – an ugly shortcut). The wedding cake was pretty though and pretty close to what I originally wanted. We had to tweek the design a few weeks before the wedding though b/c they’re somewhat limited in decorating skill. I was originally told that gilding could be done and then was told it couldn’t be during my final design meeting – so frustrating! Overall not bad for the price but definitely not a magazine cake. You get what you pay for.

Kyms Creations Menu with Prices 472 Wetzel St, Allentown

I agree with the Vanessa W. Kym shows a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for her business and loads of creativity for her flavors. We liked the “cake” part however, the icing wasn’t that great and it was obvious to our palates (used to mostly organic food) that something tasted off. She confirmed that she uses 2 parts Crisco to 1 part butter in the icing (not sure about the cake). Crisco? I thought that went out with the Cleavers but Kym Creations has a strong following so perhaps loads of ppl out there like the taste of hydrogenated oils. Not us! Without a doubt her cake decorating could use some refinement. I would recommend she take some time to organize her sample book and pare down flavors for tastings – we were overwhelmed with the bursting photo album that jumped back and forth between weddings and birthdays. She sounds like she has a huge following in the last nine years so I doubt my, and Vanessa W.’s, reviews will make much difference in her business.

Tiers of Sweetness – Menu with Prices – 216 Colgate Dr, Montgomery

We have ordered cakes and cupcakes for various special occasions. Most recently we ordered a 10″ round red velvet cake for our neighborhood Christmas party. The cake was absolutely delicious as evidenced by how fast it disappeared! In fact, I meant to take a picture of it because it had our neighborhood logo on the top surrounded by a beautiful ring of Christmas holly all done in icing. But, I missed my chance! ð???The Cottage Hill logo is an intricate design of an old, late 1800s circa house and gas street lamp representing the the historic houses of our neighborhood. The architect who designed our logo was at the party and complimented Tiers of Sweetness on their artistic skills. Thanks guys! We’ll be back for more.

Sweet Reasons Cupcakes – Menu with Prices – 1672 Carl D. Silver Pkwy, Fredericksburg

First, let me say I judge every cupcake against The chain Gigi’s cupcakes because they are my favorite. With that being said, I’d give this place a solid B. We bought a peanut butter chocolate and a vanilla vanilla. The icing was good and had the right balance of fat and sugar which is a great start on a good cupcake. It was decorated professionally and looked great. It did taste like they use butter extract which left a tiny aftertaste. The cake was dry and crumbling. We did buy 5 minutes before close but product should always be fresh. I felt like these were expensive for the size and quality. $3.75 for a cupcake the size you would make at home. Also, I had a hard time picking because of their limited favor choice. I would have bought the carrot cake flavor but it was flat and didn’t fit in the cupcake holder like it didn’t rise. Would have also tried the strawberry but it had a strawberry gelee, which I am not a fan of because it reminds me of grocery store cupcakes. My husband like the peanut butter icing but also thought his cupcake was dry. The chocolate icing on the chocolate cupcakes looked really light almost like milk chocolate. I think this place could be a five if they brought their prices down instead of charging $3.75. Georgetown Cupcake charges $3.50, but they also have better product with more flavor choices. I also think some summer flavors would be helpful. On the fence if I would try again.

Mel-O-Cream Donuts – Menu with Prices – 525 E N Grand Ave E, Springfield

Okay, I’m sorry to write the bad review for this place. I came here due to the great reviews it got on yelp and I came here super excited about trying this place out – wow any doughnut shop that can top krisy kreme is pretty amazing in my book. Boy was I in for an immense disappointment. Okay, i loved the motif they had going and i really loved the Mel-o-cream t-shirts the staff was wearing. i woulda bought one if i saw that they had em on sale. Anyways……When I walked in the staff was pretty surly. i thought this was surprising considering that Springfielders are usually a really nice and friendly bunch. So I decided to order my doughnuts: I went for an original mel-o-cream. I avoided the cake doughnuts even those are my absolute fave due to another yelpers review, and I got a sugar twist. oh yeah! and a milk to wash the goodness down. I eagerly got back to my ride, ripped open the bag and chomped into the mel-o-cream….and ugh. It was awful. It was old and the icing was all soggy and wet. So i finished that off since i didnt want to throw it out and moved onto my sugar twist. it was a tough doughnut that was dry with little flavor besides its dusting of sugar. I’ve honestly had better doughnuts anywhere else – even those krisy kremes that are delivered to the store and start getting stale were better than these beauties I bought today. *sigh*

Cakes By Annette – Menu with Prices – 4014 Derbyshire Ln, Fredericksburg

When you go for your tasting don’t be fooled by the location. She works out of her kitchen. You are in the right place :). We had an outdoors themed wedding and we wanted the cake to look like wooden logs, tree stumps stacked on top of each other with our initials engraved on the side. When we did the cutting, people were surprised because they didn’t even notice that it was ‘the cake.’ It looked so realistic they thought it was another decoration. Almost all of the cake was consumed by our guests and as most of the other reviews will tell you, the cake was moist and tasty! It looked amazing and tasted great! Home run Annette! Our cake was three different layers (a 12″, 10″ and 8″) each with it’s own icing/cake/filling combination. Annette was extremely responsive with our questions and flexible about the tasting. The tastings are setup where you choose a few icing/cake combinations and then choose filling flavors to try with each icing/cake combination. It was a very pleasant experience. All of the options were so good it was difficult to choose! We asked to have her setup delivery of the cake to the venue, which was on time and correct. Altogether a great service!

Sharp Cookie – Menu with Prices – 5380 N Mesa St, El Paso

I’m not a butter cookie type of gal. Most of the time, I think they’re tolerable. But I was really impressed with this store’s cookies. First, the shop is simple and cookies are displayed very professionally. Second, the customer service was friendly and informative. She explained that a lot of custom orders were made and that the assortment of cookie designs could be found on their website/facebook. At the store, you can get cookies to eat and even get regular cookies (without designs). I picked up a day old $0.75 Pecan Noir cookie and it was deliciously chewy, like it was fresh. Their cookies are beautifully designed too – almost like they’re factory made but it is clear that each is hand-made since the customer service rep was in the middle of icing a cookie when she saw us come in. Naturally, I figured that such bright, perfect-looking cookies were probably horrendous tasting. No. They give out samples to people who come into the store so that you can taste what the cookies are like. The ratio of icing to cookie is perfect (a thin layer of icing) and more of the soft cookie. Neither the icing nor the cookie were too sweet. I loved it and I’m not even a butter cookie person. In most store-bought decorated cookies, the cookies are hard and tasteless and the icing is way too thick so that you break your teeth to bite through the cookie. No thanks. I’ll be coming to Sharp Cookie for my future decorated cookie needs.

NorthBlock Coffee – Menu with Prices – 640 Commercial St NE, Salem

After having one of the poorest dining experiences ever down the street, I wanted something positive to end the night on. I had walked by this place earlier and delighted in its openness and brightness. I’ve been a fan of IKE Box and loved seeing this new chapter in their story. Amazing people. On the wall is the phrase “you are the hero of your story”. There is love here. I was a bit baffled at finding what beer to order. Menus weren’t easy to find. But the guy was cheerful and helpful and gave me all the aid I needed. I settled on chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. I sat down at a table and soon they delivered them out to me. The cake was nice. It wasn’t too sugary and didn’t have a bucket of icing. You know how you buy a cake at the store bakery and there is three inches of diabetes on top? Not here. It was just the right amount of icing to compliment the cake. It went well with the dark beer I ordered. I am thrilled this place is here. I look forward to coming here more often. I have a professional causal meeting coming up and I can’t think of a better place than here to go. This place is a beacon of light in what has been a slowly growing and revitalizing downtown in Salem.

Moon Maiden?s Delights – Menu with Prices – 112 W Main St suite 12, Charlottesville

My husband and I needed a vegan wedding cake for our wedding in May 2019, and we approached Sidney, having had her yummy vegan treats both at the Charlottesville farmer’s market and at her bakery. (As of May 2019, she was also the only baker in the Charlottesville area who could do a vegan wedding cake, at least according to my research — go Sidney!) We had a three tier cake with lemon poppyseed cake and lemon icing for the outer two tiers and almond cake and maple pecan icing for the middle tier. Those flavor combinations might sound a little weird, but they were incredible! Apart from the flavors, I absolutely loved the fresh flowers from a local florist adorning the cake. But what I appreciated most about my wedding cake was that I could fully enjoy it without feeling heavy after eating it, because it was actually healthy! I am sensitive to sugar, and I can crash pretty quickly after bakery treats, especially ones with icing. I didn’t want that to happen at my wedding. I also didn’t want icing, in particular, made of vegan butter, which is just a bunch of oil and shortening. Sidney’s cake was delicious and indulgent and beautiful, but healthy and uplifting at the same time! I didn’t have to compromise.

Cake Collection Boutique – Menu with Prices – 7001 St Andrews Rd A14, Columbia

This place is amazing!!! I needed cupcakes for a baby shower that I was throwing on a Monday, and unbeknownst to me, just about every bakery in the area is closed on a Monday. I was so lucky to stumble across this adorable place. The cupcakes were beautiful and absolutely delicious. We got a variety of flavors (cookies and cream, chocolate peanut butter, red velvet, tropical carrot, triple chocolate and red velvet with Nutella icing). Everyone agreed that they were HANDS DOWN the best cupcakes theyâ??d ever eaten. The cake was moist and the icing was perfectly sweet, flavorful and delicious. They also have absolutely amazing customer service. I certainly know where I will be getting cake/cupcakes/cake pops from in the future! Highly recommend!

Duck Donuts – Menu with Prices – 1329 N Battlefield Blvd Suite 140, Chesapeake

So I’ve been to so many donut shops so I know a good donut. And duck is not the place to go for donuts. The cashier was extremely rude. We walked in the store and it smelled of burning sugar or something. We were never welcomed just asked “how many”. As people who did not know how the menu work I was confused. I also noticed that the man hand mixed the batter rather than use the mixer. Duck also heated all there icing in PLASTIC CONTAINERS! Any heated product should be placed in metal containers so there is no risk of bacteria growth that can be associated with plastic. So we were watching them make our donuts and their icing table was a complete mess and looked gross. I don’t know about other people but if I’m watching someone make my food I want it to be clean. So were watching the donuts and looking at the store and we notice that the cashier is walking to the door. There were about 15 ppl in the store and it was 5 minutes before 8. The cashier with gloves on, walked to the door, locked it from the inside and turned off the sign. Before they closed. So we finished watching the donuts and took them with us. We hadn’t planned to stay long but even if we did, we couldn’t. There is no seating. So we went outside to eat our donuts. It took ten minutes to open the box because there is no open tab. We got it open and the box was a mess. The icing and everything covered the box, the donuts were super messy, and upon picking them up, the donuts fell apart in our hands. They were so soaked in grease we couldn’t eat them. We were sick to our stomachs just looking at them. We paid $8 for donuts we weren’t able to eat.
