This is the second location of this franchise that has been in Augusta. The first one was in the plaza on Agerton Lane in front of Regal Cinemas. I ate there a few times and actually enjoyed the food and services. I say a few weeks, if that, after my last visit that location was on the news for running drugs out of the kitchen, if I’m not mistaken!!! I was totally shocked and puzzled, I didn’t know what to make out of that situation and they soon closed down after that. That had to been 10+ years ago. I was bummed for a while until I saw they were bringing this franchise back to Augusta, and I’m so glad they did!!! I love this place. This location is on Broad Street, which is in a perfect spot for any kind of business. I went the First Sunday of 2019 after church and there was a continuous flow of patrons coming and going, which is a great sign of what’s to come. The place is super spacious, clean, and the employees are great as well!!! The food was just as good as I remember it and you get a great portion for the amount of money you pay. This place hasn’t been open only a few months and they are already a hit again. I will be back here soon since they aren’t far from my home and I travel Broad Street almost everyday!!!

Sports Center Restaurant Menu with Prices 594 Broad St, Augusta

Yea! As of 2019…no more SMOKING indoors. I can finally eat without choking down 2nd smoke. I still love a good handpacked medium rare thick burger with a huge basket of crispy onion rings! It’s my go to burger in Augusta! I’m a fan!!! //////// 6/20/17 My fav smoky Divey hole in the wall downtown Broad street. Not much to look at, but great friendly service and delicious hamburgers cooked and made “your way!” Pappy Joe likes to order- Medium, Mayo, mustard, and grilled onions with lettuce, tomato, pickles and cheese on the side. Easier for him to eat. Ordering (they have a special lingo here) my burger – medium, everything, no cheese, no ketchup, with raw onions. I then order a half and half basket of onion rings and fries. They make their own daily onion rings. Crispy and nice bites! My fav burger joint for my augusta burger fix. ////// 9/23/16. 10 of us to eat for lunch today. I’ve never seen this place so busy. Lots of eat in and takeouts. They needed extra help today-but was on top of everything from ordering , getting drinks and bringing out food. Love my server, constantly updated when food was coming out. Best hand packed thick burgers and best fresh dipped crispy onion rings on this end of town! I come back ever time I visit town! I’m a fan! Burp! $$$$$$$$$ Divey- but best kept secret on Broad Street. Word of mouth advertising about the daily hand packed grilled 1/4 burger (you can even order med. rare – I like medium) and daily fresh crispy onion rings. The 4 stars are for the burger and onion rings. This is a true hole in the wall. Smoked and greased stained walls. I wouldn’t wear my Sunday best to eat in here. You’ll smell like a burger when leaving! Very nice service , can get busy, just call her down if you need anything extra. Love the tasty hand packed burgers that you can order pinky medium. And the crispy fried onion rings. 4 people today with 4 burgers, 2 baskets onion rings , half and half fries/rings and 3 drinks. $34.25. Good deal and best burger around. 6/8/18 Can you tell I like this place! Cheers to last meal…Mary Lou will mi Love the Irish Red draft. 1/28/19. Yea!!! No more smoking allowed indoors. All those smoked out ceilings that were dark are changed out in the front also from a grease fire in past. Funny to see the difference in ceiling tiles

Nothing Bundt Cakes – Menu with Prices – 5300 Kingston Pike, Knoxville

I ordered Nothing Bundt Cakes as catering services for my wedding. I placed my order in Feb. of 2019 and my wedding was in Sept. 2019. The price was reasonable for how many bundtinies I ordered along with a delivery fee. I advised that my wedding was on a Sunday. I called maybe 2-3 weeks prior to confirm my order and make sure they would be there. They confirmed with me my date and they would be at my venue for the delivery that morning. On my wedding day, they never came to deliver the cakes. I was unable to contact them since my wedding was on a Sunday and the next day was a holiday. My planner knew the franchise owner and contacted her immediately. My money was refunded within the same week. The issue was resolved, but I was dissatisfied with my service. We had a family friend make us a full cake, and if she didn’t we would not have had dessert for the guests. The franchise owner did call my directly with an apology and told me they would refund my family friend for the cake she made. She contacted her and is refunding her for the cake she made.

Asian Bakery & Fast Food – Menu with Prices – 310 Broad St, Providence

I have been looking for a banh mi sandwich in Rhode Island for several years. My daughter who lives in Brooklyn New York introduced me to it and and has become kind of a craving especially because I was unable to find it here. It is a Vietnamese sandwich that my nail salon people have told me was only available in Boston or New York. They had relatives Boston who would bring them sandwiches from time to time and they really enjoyed them as well. When I was driving down Broad Street one day I saw a sign for banh mi and knew that I wanted to go back there. I don’t often stop on Broad Street because it’s kind of a sketchy area but we made a point to go back there to try the sandwiches. I asked the woman at the counter for bang mi and she said something which I could not understand. I am not very good at accents and it took me several times before I understood that she was pointing to the wall and saying numbers 1 through 9 were my choices. We chose chicken satay sandwich and a beef teriyaki sandwich. These were not the kinds of sandwiches that I have had in New York but they were absolutely delicious. They have pickled vegetables on them with some hot peppers and you can get and spicy or not so spicy. They come on fresh crumbly French rolls which is just delicious. I read some of the reviews of the restaurant only after I had been there because I knew that I was going to try it no matter what the reviews said and saw that a lot of people knew what they were getting before they went which was a really good idea. It looks like the rest of their Asian food is as good in many reviews and the next time I go once I get over my craving for these sandwiches I will look at the menu online so that I know what to order in advance. It was a truly authentic experience and I already have a craving for another a banh mi sandwich

Oahu Mexican Grill (OMG) – Kaimuki – Menu with Prices – 3036 Waialae Ave, Honolulu

Hmm. For some reason this business has two yelp pages for the same location. Lol. But omg it’s back! And it’s near my house! I was excited that 1. It’s not in the middle of Waikiki 2. It’s 5 mins away from me! I used to go to the pucks ally location before it was torn down. I eventually forgot about the place and then craved it one random day and it was gone! I noticed over the years they re opened in Waikiki kind of by alohilani but who in the world is going there unless you work around that area or you’re doing a staycation in a hotel on that side of Waikiki. The new (2nd) location is In kaimuki. They took over the Sabrina’s restaurant location and is next to ripple of smiles so as you know parking can be a bit of a challenge in that particular area. But I somehow went on a off hour and had no problems with parking. It wasn’t busy in there at all. Actually after I walked in two other people came in after me. The burritos start from $9 and you order from where the door is and then pay at the end after you tell them what you want in your burrito. It was a little confusing at first but I wish maybe they had a sign or something that says order here. And then another one that said pay here. Unless there was one and I’m blind. I got the carnitas burrito and it was a little bit on the salty side. But it was good overall. It wasn’t what I remembered it to be so I don’t know if I’ll be coming back that often especially when there’s something similar right down the street. Oh yea! Even tho they have burritos they won’t be able to make you wet burritos for you – the guy behind me asked and they said no. Lol.

Duck Donuts – Tilghman Square Menu with Prices 4608 Broadway, Allentown

Was really looking forward to checking out Duck Donuts since I read a local review months ago (when they opened) of them and another ‘made to order’ donut establishment in the area. Got 2 donuts and a mocha latte. While the ‘donuts’ were freshly made ‘to order’, they were really a standardized round cake with the toppings you picked; too much like moist cake with toppings for me. The coffee was OK, but, honestly, the Starbucks mocha lattes are way better. My initial interest in going had a lot to do with supporting a new family-owned business, but after chatting with the staff it turns out it’s a franchise which explained a lot. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, but a franchise is a franchise and standardization is what you get. Overall, good, but not great.

Jesse’s Place – Menu with Prices – 2311 N 24th St, Omaha

If you are looking for a neighborhood bar with great music and good drinks with an over 35 crowd, then Jessie’s is your place. The staff is super friendly, the juke box is full of old school favorites and on Sunday nights, the Midwest OG’s, led by Grover play an amazing mix of R&B, Jazz and Blues. Karaoke nights are super fun too, so you don’t want to miss those either. And don’t let the location deter you, it is right across the street from the Omaha Star on a quiet and safe stretch of 24th street and there is plenty of parking in the parking lot and on the street. The place itself is quite small, but there is enough room for dancing and a decent amount of tables. In the warmer months they open up the beer garden where there is more than enough room for dancing, talking and hanging out and don’t worry about missing the music.

Inner Bean Cafe Menu with Prices 139 Davis Rd Suite C, Augusta

Despite what some may believe, there are still a few local gems I have not made it to yet in the Augusta-Aiken area. This one was due to its location. It is about half a mile off Washington Road and the parking lot is minimal for there being multiple businesses in the plaza. But how could I resist the opportunity to stop in and try their Americano when I was already driving nearby on a rainy, relaxing morning? I am so glad I did. Though I do like the outside seating area, it is the interior that made me want to visit again. (Unless I have the furry family members. Then I’ll be outside.) Low lighting, cozy decor, local art (on display and available for purchase) all beckon you to come sit for awhile. They have the wall menu and a handheld one (for those of us with not the best eyesight) that also explains certain items, such as the various latte flavors. Such a friendly team working there and timing (on the order). I barely had time to peruse the art before my Americano was ready. My order was to go and I waited, as I always do with Americano’s and lattes, five minutes before tasting. I will say that I was initially concerned. The aromatics were not strong, for being in my car with the windows up. But, upon tasting I quickly realized that it was more so the predominant almond taste in the bean that was coming to the forefront than a lack of flavor. It was such that I was able to sip it continuous (medium size=approx. 16 ounces) till it was gone, but only after it had cooled down. That is not a complaint either, as I prefer it (and anything coffee-espresso related) to be as hot as humanly possible. Between the quality of the service, beverage, atmosphere and the appetizing options I saw on the menu, I am quite certain I will be returning soon. Sidenote: Though any dogs are welcome outside, they have clear signage stating that service animals are welcome inside as well.

The Blue Flame Coffee – Menu with Prices – 15541 Product Ln #102, Huntington Beach

Definitely my new coffee spot! I couldn’t be happier with the decision to come to Blue Flame. The coffee is extremely fresh, blooms beautifully and tastes great. They don’t have a sign in front which I think they should change soon but it’s well worth the visit. They allow you to purchase in bulk too, so I got a 5lb bag for about $8.50 a pound I drink about 2 cups a day every day and I truly think if you add sugar to coffee than you got the wrong kind. Blue Flame coffee is so fresh and smooth it can easily be drank black, as espresso or my favorite way which is keto style (butter, MCT oil & half/half). So let’s recap – Freshly roasted – Cheaper than store bought – Local American Business – Ability to purchase in bulk – Super nice owners you’ll be proud to support – Needs to put up a bigger sign & street signs to draw more people in You guys are doing great and I wish you all the best. I will be back every time this bag runs out and will buy a big bag to send my dad next time too.

J&K Style Grill – Menu with Prices – 880 N Military Hwy, Norfolk

I love J&K. The owner of the business of very approachable and always makes a point to speak to customers. I was excited once I learned about the military circle call location. More access to great food. This location is right down the street from where I work so I can either come for lunch or pick up dinner on the way home. This location has pretty much the same menu as their home location. Except they do not offer the stuff collar wings ! But they offer other really great choices such as the Kenyatta wings which I tried today along with the philly steak egg rolls. I like that while I’m waiting on my food I can do a little shopping or browsing and by the time I return my food is ready to be picked up and eaten lol I always enjoy coming to either location because there is a feeling of “family” which is always great to experience.

Raising The Bar – Menu with Prices – 1233 N 3rd St, Harrisburg

Hands down the BEST almond croissant that I’ve ever had in my life- even compared to the ones tasted in France. Buttery, thousands of crispy yet tender layers and an amazing balance of sweet almond filling and a dusting of powdered sugar. I will dream about them until next weekend. Can’t wait to try everything else. Super excited for this broad street market addition!

Calabash Tea & Tonic – Menu with Prices – 2701 12th St NE, Washington

A fabulous alternative to the crowded 7th Street location. I drove there first but couldn’t find parking, so I decided to check out this location instead. Fortunately I was able to find street parking with no issues. When I walked in, there was only one other patron inside, probably because of the nasty weather. People started to trickle in later though, as the storm passed. The quality of food and drink are the same as they are at the flagship location. I ordered a spinach veggie patty, a slice of the pumpkin cayenne bread (which I swear is just cake in disguise) and a cup of the Love Potion #9… and everything was just as delicious as I was accustomed to. I appreciate that the menu here has a little bit more detail regarding the different drinks and tonics… which makes me more comfortable trying new things. The seating here is also more comfortable than at the 7th Street location, so I’m looking forward to coming back and staying a while. Be advised that this place is closed on Tuesdays. Kind of an odd day for an establishment to be closed, but I would hate for you to drive across town like I did only to be disappointed.

Ryu Sushi & Teppanyaki – Menu with Prices – 2512 S Val Vista Dr #101, Gilbert

*this review is from March of 2019* somehow it has sat in my drafts this long.. Let me start by “painting a picture” of how my day went before coming to this location.. It’s my birthday – on a Friday – the 1st of the month.. my initial reservation was at another establishment for 12 & I wasn’t able to add 3 more people.. (which was not up to me & had to be done for family reasons..) so I cancel and call three other places.. no luck. I knew my chances of getting a reservation 4 hours before I needed it were slim.. & my birthday is about to be a wreck. I no longer want to celebrate my birthday or go out to eat.. but a friend tells me this location is near her and her family goes often. I take my chances & call Ryu Sushi & Teppanyaki to make a reservation for 15.. first off, Anne was so kind and personable with me while making the reservation! I called just in time to make the reservation. We were seated quickly and we had to wait for a few of our party to arrive but no one gave us a hassle about it. The food was great & decently priced for this kind of establishment. Our chef was super nice & gave us plenty of birthday “shots”! We had children in our party & there were a couple messes that were handled quickly and without attitudes or making us feel bad. Anne really saved my sanity & my birthday.. if you’re reading this, I appreciate you more than you know.
