BRING CASH. Good food. Slow service. I was excited to try this place when yelp sent me a notification a new pho place was opening up and they had a 20% off special for their grand opening. When we came the internet was out. Saturday around 12:30PM. Initially when we came in, they said they could write my card number down to charge later. Experience was less than okay. The pho is good, but the service was unfortunately lacking. When we were ready to pay, another lady told us they could only take cash. I explained the owner told me he could write my card number down. After we ate, no staff was seen for 20 minutes. We waited another 10 minutes for him to come out of the kitchen and try to figure out their credit card machine. I got the vibe he was scared it would not work with typing my number in later when the internet came back. My boyfriend eventually had to leave me at the restaurant while he left to go get cash. We didn’t feel like being in limbo anymore. The owner was really nice and I know the internet being out is not his fault, but the fact my boyfriend had to leave to get cash and come back after we were initially told it would be okay leaves a sour taste in my mouth. It’s a shame, because the pho was great. Broth was well seasoned and light. Lots of noodles and the fatty brisket was delicious. I usually love supporting these mom and pop places, but I will not be back. A total of 50 minutes wait after eating our meal before we could pay for our meal. My lesson is learned. Hopefully this helps you too! Always bring cash to these mom and pop places just in case!!

Volume Hookah Lounge – Menu with Prices – 580 W Arapaho Rd #181, Richardson

Sigh. I wanted to be able to write a 5-star review like everyone else- but I’m going to tell the truth. I came in last night with a party of 5 around 9ish. I’ll start off with the positives- and show how things went a bit down hill. This place is in Carrollton near a lot of other hookah spots and I came in due to the 5-star Yelp rating. It’s in an easily accessible location in the back of a strip mall- brightly lit sign- huge space- well ventilated, etc. you’re greeted by a friendly guy to pay the $5 cover (card or cash)– BYOB. Seated easily/promptly. We ordered 1 hookah/2 flavors and a few brought in beer/wine. No problems, flavors changed out in due time- good to go. Server never brought our ice bucket- for our beers- small things –as we were enjoying the music. DJ is awesome and played all high energy hip hop/R&B/house international vibe. Think the DJ could’ve let the songs play a bit before switching to the next, but again, small things. HERE is the problem: it’s 11:15p and I ask for my CC so that I can split the bill. My server hadn’t been back in awhile (initially thought he was super busy w tables…since he never brought our ice awhile back). So, I find another lady server and tell her I need my bill (and cc) don’t run the card- we’ll split the check. She tells me- our server had to leave the establishment due to an emergency and he’ll be back in 5 min. Ok. Not my problem? We just wanna pay. 11:30p. I say where is he? you know what just bring my card and we just want to pay and go. “He’s coming, I don’t know where he is”. Ok, now we have a problem. Explain to me what this has to do with my cc and where is my cc? do you have it? She goes back and forth and then the owner gets involved (wassim). Server tells me my guy has to log in with his code so that they can run my bill. Listen. I tell the owner that again- getting upset here and tell him I decide to come here and bring ppl- didn’t have to come to your establishment. All of this is unprofessional and that this is the FIrST time I have heard such a thing. Wassjm tells me he doesn’t want to argue w me, he’ll make everything right – offer a discount, and that I have to wait for this guy. I will say owner was a bit short- don’t cut off a patron when they are speaking to you/ especially a woman. Again, super upset now, and asked the lady who initially helped me – where the f* is my card? B/c now it seems we are playing games and either someone has left the place w my card or you don’t want to give it to me and it’s here. They literally held my card hostage until this guy came back. Another 15 minutes. This situation is finally resolved as my original server eventually brings my card outside to me and guess they decided to comp our bill. Per wassim, this has never happened before? Right!? You’re a new spot and your systems don’t have an override such that YOU as an owner can’t cash people out? Either that OR that server had my card and another group’s card on him and left the establishment. Potential Lawsuit?!? I’m giving 3 stars for the fact it is a nice chill spot, awesome DJ- and some dancers came out during this fiasco around 11:30, and they ended up comping us. Let this be a LESSON here for this situation to NEVER happen again. What if *I* had an emergency and had to leave? I’m supposed to leave my cc behind?? holes here that need to be fixed!

Daylight Donuts – Menu with Prices – 3405 EAST Battlefield Rd, Springfield

Take my debit card, saids it’s declined for $10.22 then takes my cash $10.22. I leave, 5 minutes later they charge my card — somehow — call them and they have to have proof from 5 minutes ago, which I don’t have because they gave me a card declined slip and receipt for cash. #blacklisted

PLAY Arcade & Bar – Menu with Prices – 436 12th St W, Bradenton

Donâ??t go here unless you want your money stolen by employees! I had started a tab with the bartender, gave him my debit card and said I would be paying cash. As me and my friend were finishing up I asked for my bill and reminded the bartender that I would be paying cash and not to charge my card. I got my card back and my bill and paid cash. Later noticed my debit card was also charged! I called the bar back the very next day and was told the owner would be getting back to me. This happened on August,6th and it is now October 26th and I have not gotten my money refunded. I went down to the bar twice, called multiple days a week to get in touch with a manager or owner and even contacted the owner over Facebook, who read and ignored my messages. Poor way to run an establishment that could be a lot of fun. Stand clear of this place and their sticky fingers.

Olivia Restaurant and Bar – Menu with Prices – 1780 Polk St, Hollywood

My husband and talked about trying this restaurant for awhile and decided to give it a try Saturday. The first sign of trouble was the valet situation, there is room for only one car at the entrance so our car was basically in the road as we sat for about 5 minutes as the valet attendees (3) did nothing to acknowledge us or move the car in front of us so we could pull up so we got out of the car thinking that someone would acknowledge us but not the case until a nice gentlemen came from behind us, obviously from parking a car, and took care of us. WE SHOULD HAVE LEFT THEN. We read about the roof top bar and wanted to check it out. It was about 4:00 and warm so there were no customers up there but decided we will have a drink at the bar. We did not see a bartender until we noticed that she was kneeling behind the bar on her phone, again, no acknowledgment from her so we went downstairs to the restaurant bar. SHOULD HAVE LEFT THEN. No one at the hostess station greeted us so we sat at the bar among about 4 other customers. There was no bartender so we sat patiently waiting for one of the 5 employees/manager to acknowledge us but they were busy laughing and talking to notice us so after about 5 minutes I went up and asked if there was a bartender and finally someone came over. SHOULD HAVE LEFT THEN. We knew the restaurant was between lunch and dinner and the kitchen was not serving until 5 but the bartender told us we could order flatbread pizza or from the mozzarella bar which we did (4:15) and he would bring us some bread. 4:50 there was no bread, no mozzarella that we ordered and no one even working at the mozzarella bar so we told the bartender to cash us out so we could leave, he did got a manager who told us that he could have our order for us in 3 minutes!!! Why couldn’t he get it 40 minutes earlier if it was only 3 minutes?? Anyway we declined and just wanted to leave so asked for our check…bartender has disappeared again so now waiting almost 10 minutes to get our check so we could leave. OK so now back to the valet, $7 but they did not take cash so we came gave our credit card but told us his machine did not work and we would have to go back inside to pay, OMG by now we just wanted to leave. One of the hotel managers came out and spoke with us and took care of our valet charge and apologized (she was not affliated with the restaurant but seemed to be the only one who cared), So we are in the car but cannot move because like earlier they are not moving the cars so we had to back out onto the street. Cannot rate the food as we never had any, the service and parking system is the worse, oh and by the way we knew the owner from other restaurants he had!!! Will not return.

Bagelicious – Menu with Prices – 1255 Johnson Ferry Rd, Marietta

Upon entering the building with my girlfriend, the smell of the store smells like a dead fish with inattentive employees that stared at us for 5 minutes before taking our order. We ordered a drink and a bagel and the employee told me to help myself to the drink while they made my girlfriends bagel. Upon pulling out my credit card and making it obvious that i was going to pay with card, I opened my drink and took a sip. After taking a sip, the employee said to me “we don’t take plastic” and told us that we had to pay for the already opened drink and bagel with cash. Upon realizing we had no cash, they referred us to a sketchy atm in the back. Keep in mind there is NO sign ANYWHERE saying cash only. The atm has a 3 dollar fee that is unavoidable. So, we decided to not pay an extra 3 dollars into this literal scam and we decided to leave. The employees attempted to chase us out of the restaurant saying i had already opened the drink to which my girlfriend replied “you guys didn’t disclose that they only accept cash” to which the employee reacted negatively with irritation. Then, the owner of the store followed us out of the store threatening us with her phone attempting to get our tag and report us when they were literally trying to SCAM us out of 3 dollars to avoid a card fee. Extremely unprofessional restaurant, will never go there ever again. Employees we’re seemingly threatening and all seem to be in on tricking customers into spending an extra 3 dollars on every atm transaction. Never again.

The Choppin’ Block – Menu with Prices – 2212 Madison St, Clarksville

We were visiting from out of town and had a waiter recommend this place. It was 15 minutes out of our way, but we drove to pick up a couple of steaks any way because of all the great reviews. When we walked in the service was phenomenal and the associate was very helpful. She wrapped up 2 dry aged filets for us, and we were on our way. When we got to the register the young woman let us know that it was a possibility that the credit card machine may not work and that we may have to go to the ATM to get cash. I told her that we would be happy to do that if the owner would take care of the ATM surcharge. The associate called the owner, and the owner said absolutely NOT. My experience with this establishment was not with the associates, but with the owner. The credit card machine was down and obviously that was my fault and not the owners. In my opinion, as a business owner myself, I would rather break even and keep my customer happy vs pissing off a customer. I’m sure this is not normal, but in this case I would have done anything to keep a customer happy. I will slaughter and dry age my own cow before I ever enter this establishment again. Thanks a lot to the terrible business owner!!!

Java Crew Vista – Menu with Prices – 3045 Commercial St SE, Salem

So what customer service do they provide when after you have waited 8 minutes to even order, they then tell you it’s “cash only” because their credit card machine is down? Can you guess? If you guessed a free $3 coffee, you’d be WAY off the mark. No, she provided directions to another Java Crew and one punch on a punch card. YEP, that’s right…total waste of my time and future patronage. UNBELIEVABLE I say!!!! There was no sign saying “cash only”, in the front window…to alert people waiting in the drive thru. UNBELIEVABLE! And the topper? The complete TOPPER? I just got home to email corporate, and spent the time to write them a letter, etc….and when I went to send…their feedback button won’t send! It’s down!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Oh my lord.

Crown Fried Chicken & Pizza – Menu with Prices – 6 Sutter Ave, Brooklyn

Was there earlier this afternoon while awaiting the bus to pick up my daughter. I asked the gentleman before making my order, if the tax would apply if I used my card. He didn’t answer but continued to make the 10 piece order. I asked him again if there would be tax charged before he made the order, and after he packed the chicken, he told me he would be charging me tax. Keep in mind this was no specific order, the chicken was premade and under the heat lamp. I told him no thank you, I don’t want the order if there would be tax for using my card, especially if it would be $10 straight if I paid in cash. The gentleman banged on the window to get my attention and then told me he would not charge tax. Once I got back in the store, I gave him my card and he then said he would in fact charge me tax. I told him that wasn’t what we agreed on, then he refused to give me my card. This went on for over 20 minutes, even calling the police because he refused to give me my card, and the other patrons either had stories where he did this before or they wanted to know why my card wasn’t given back to me. I even signed the receipt just to get my card back because he swiped my card when I specifically said I no longer wanted the order. So I wouldn’t be late to get my daughter, or later, as I was already 20 minutes late, I considered canceling my card and getting a new one. After 40 minutes of this, he finally gave me my card back and said he was giving it since I was running late, as if he was doing me a favor when he was the problem. I will still be contacting everyone necessary to make sure this is the last time this practice is done at this location. How dare you hold someone’s card hostage and charge them what they dont agree on paying. First and last time in this establishment.

Thu?n Phát Vietnamese sandwich – Menu with Prices – 3020 Santa Rosa Ave, Santa Rosa

I’m so thankful this place exists. The banh mi here is legit. Ok firstly they have meats like headcheese, pig ear, and (probably pig) tongue, which I think some people might be afraid of. What do I care though, they’re SO GOOD. Secondly, they’re $4 before tax. It’s cheap, authentic, delicious, and the owner is super friendly. I think the store sells other random stuff like vietnamese coffee filters, dried fruits, statues, ceramic pots, and canes with those funky cool designs that gangster kings or suave rich old guys would own. Fun to look around. The owner has that credit card reader thing for the phone (square?) now. I think there is an extra fee per transaction since credit card transactions at small places usually come with a fee. So if y’all wanna be cheap like me just keep bringing cash if you can remember to bring it.

Krazy Buffet – Menu with Prices – 8095 W Sahara Ave, Las Vegas

The food is not WONDERFUL but for the price $10/adult it is not bad. Plus you get to have a little bit of everything including dessert. The only thing I hate is service here. Yeah I get it’s a buffet and it’s self serving restaurant but at least keep up with refilling my water!! This happens ALL THE TIME! I’ve came so many times and yet, they always fail to refill water. I have to wave at them to get their attention from just standing there talking to their co workers. Last time I came, the lady gave us our check when we were in the MIDDLE of eating our dinner. We were not even close to being done but we gave her the card anyway. She took the check and gave us the receipt. We always leave cash for tip so my husband just signed the receipt without tipping on his card. The lady comes back quickly to take the check and pauses as she saw that he didn’t leave any tip and looked at him. From that awkward pause, my husband looked at the server and told her that we will leave cash tip. After that, she literally stood so close to our table and stared at us until we left… I made eye contacts with her so many times from how much she was staring down at us… she was so quick about the check but why did she not feel the need to refill the drinks?! It was completely empty lol. I kept on pouring my OWN water to my husbands cup who drinks more than I do.. If it was me, I wouldn’t have left much tip but my husband left her 20% tip. Of course as soon as we stood up to leave, she came by to pick up the cash. I don’t think she deserved it though.. she didn’t do anything but to make us feel like we need to leave the restaurant ASAP lol

The Lodge at St Rose – Menu with Prices – 3540 St Rose Pkwy, Henderson

I was there the other night when it snowed. I had two beers and a shot. I went to cash out and the lady bartender came back and said my card was declined. I never run a high balance so I figured Chase thought it was fraud. I looked for an email but didnâ??t see one. I call Chase and they didnâ??t see the attempt at all. I look on on decline receipt and it said could not reach server. I show the male bartender who says he is the owner and he tried his own card and he got error message as well. He said you need to go to ATM and get cash. I told him I only carry my rewards card and I donâ??t have an ATM card but I can go to Wells Fargo and use a pin. Itâ??s snowing hard at this point. He said your not leaving here until you pay. I replied how can I pay if your credit card machine doesnâ??t work. I asked him how is this my fault I assumed your cc machine would work when I walked in like the other 5 times I have been here. He than said I had a s****** attitude and I was being loud. I said who is the owner your out of line. He said I am and he threw me out. The GM with tats is a total D- Bag and acted tough until I walked up on and than he coward. Never once did he apologize in the begiing. I have spent a lot of money there and now I will never go back because of his attitude. I guess there broke that they will keep a customer hostage for 3 drinks since there infrastructure doesnâ??t work.

Market Place & Cafe Menu with Prices 901 N Glebe Rd # 110, Arlington

Dear owners: is your business doing so well that you can afford to be blatantly rude to customers? (I don’t think so; it’s always empty when I go in.) I have gone here half a dozen times or so in the last year (it’s close to my office) for a breakfast sandwich. The food is not good and the interior is just passable, but it’s hard to mess up a breakfast sandwich, and the location is convenient for me. But this morning I went in, ordered a breakfast sandwich, handed him my credit card, and the wonder said, “no, it has to be cash for under $5”. (I have ordered the same sandwich in the past, for the same price, and he took my card.) I told him I didn’t have any cash. He yelled “stop” to his wife at the grill, who had started the sandwich, and then walked away from me without a word. Not any “I’m sorry, I’m afraid we can’t take the card for this amount” or “there is an ATM nearby” — just wordlessly walking away as I stood there with my card in hand, clearly looking confused. It’s not the card versus cash issue — I understand the economics of it, they get charged for credit card transactions — it’s the egregious, almost contemptuous, rudeness that I found so shocking. I will never go back.
