I found this place on Yelp and have been waiting to try it – I’ve been at the Holiday Inn Express around the corner since Sunday and saw that they are off Sunday and Monday. I’ve been waiting patiently for Tuesday night to roll around so I could finally hit them up! The guys that run this truck seem super cool, it’s literally right outside 2J’s bar. I wasn’t even hungry but I just had to get the 3 tacos for $5 – what a great deal. I picked asada, chicken and chorizo – my basic food groups. Haha. The hot meat was a match made in heaven with the doubled up corn tortillas. You could tell they were fresh – they weren’t crumbly and were perfectly moist. The condiments are up to you to throw on – grab them in the little window. I just like onion, cilantro and a squeeze of lime on mine. The steak was moist and perfectly seasoned. Some places tend to make theirs too salty but this one was just right! The chicken was also equally as delicious. The meat just crumbles in your mouth. The chorizo was probably my favorite of the 3! It looked chunky but it was actually super crumbly and had just a perfect amount of seasoning. It was a perfect late night snack in an easy to find street corner. Seems like they move around town a bit so give them a call before you head out looking for them. Keep up the awesome food and great value guys!

Vincenzo’s Pizza – Menu with Prices – 168-19 Union Tpke, Flushing

Vincenzo’s Pizza is now one of my new favorites! Staff was awesome! Really friendly and friendly and kind. The food was incredible. I had a white slice and a buffalo chicken slice with a side of blue cheese. I’m a huge fan of white pizza and this place does it right! The subtle seasoning in it was perfect. The hot sauce and chicken in the buffalo chicken slice were also perfect. I like the chicken to be super tender and the sauce to be hot but not too peppery or too hot. Everything about this slice was amazing. Chicken fell apart and was super moist. Had just the right amount of the toppings, not way too much like some places do. Loved the food from here. Thanks guys!!

Tacos Los 3 Reyes – Menu with Prices – 1610 Old Bayshore Hwy, San Jose

Closer to 3.5 stars overall, but their corn tortillas are super fresh and one of the best versions I’ve had in the South Bay. Tacos Los Tres Reyes is located in more of an industrial area. They weren’t busy around 1:30pm on Memorial Day. You order at the food truck, and they have covered seating inside, in addition to their salsa bar. I tried their Chorizo, Suadero, Asada, and Pastor Tacos ($2.20/each, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=jsF9eCkRQTM2J85n_8rL5w&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg). The suadero and asada were my favorites, since they were the most flavorful and seared well. I liked the pineapple in the pastor, but there wasn’t much flavor otherwise. The chorizo was my least favorite- it was spicy, but very dry and crumbly. I would recommend the suadero and asada, but not the chorizo or pastor. However, the corn tortillas were delicious. They were the perfect consistency, and also had good flavor. The salsa bar (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=GElnqnYWRN0mDeUhnXKJvg&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg) had a good amount of options. I only tried the orange and green salsas, but I liked both. The majority of tacos and salsas that I tried were spicy, so this isn’t the best place to go if you don’t like spice! For those that like offal, they have a few different options on their menu: buche (stomach), cabeza, and lengua. Pollo and chicharron are also available. I would come back if I was having a taco craving and in the area, and/or for late night eats. However, this is one of the better street taco places in the South Bay that I’ve been to. There was plenty of parking in their lot and also some street parking available.

Gus?s World Famous Fried Chicken – Menu with Prices – 308 S Diamond St, New Orleans

Gus’s has to be one of the best fried chicken places I’ve ever been to! Better than Hattie B’s in Nashville and definitely better than any other fried chicken spot in New Orleans, including Willie Mae’s. I think Gus’s is originally from Memphis, and they have a lot of stores across the nation. Despite this, they are still able to maintain high quality, great service, and a fun ambience. First off, the food tonight was AMAZING. I got the 2 piece dark meat (drumstick and leg) with mac & cheese and fries as my sides. The highlight was the leg!!! I love that there’s no batter, so the chicken isn’t too heavy. The skin is fried to perfection – so crisp and juicy, almost like a chicharron. The meat inside was also succulent and very moist. My friend had the breast, and it was the juiciest piece of white meat I’ve ever had. I also loved how the mac & cheese was down home soul food (tasted almost like kraft and wasn’t too salty, but I think that pairs perfectly with the seasoned chicken). Something about it just felt really homey and Southern. The fries were also seasoned very well; kinda like Cajun fries where they were a little salty, a little sweet, and a little spicy. I was soooo close to ordering more chicken. It’s absolutely addicting, especially the seasoning. It had a slight kick from the spices and was salty in a good way. My friend and I also shared the chocolate chess pie which tasted kind of like a lightened up brownie, but with a pie crust. It wasn’t too sweet, which I really enjoyed. However, it was pretty heavy to eat after all the chicken and carbs, so I wasn’t as crazy about it. But if you have a big stomach and like chocolate, you’ll definitely enjoy it. Service was A+. We were immediately greeted by the staff when we walked in, our server was attentive and very nice, and (who I think was) the manager walked around the room checking in on everyone. My friend and I live so close to Gus’s, so you bet we’ll be frequent fliers at this new spot. I hope they’ll be able to maintain their standards throughout the next months since they definitely set the bar high from the get-go!

Taco Fundacion – Menu with Prices – 235 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe

Best. Tacos. Ever. We went to Taco Fundación on several of the days we were in town for a few reasons: scrumptious tacos, fast service, cheap prices, and fresh ingredients. How can it get better than that?! They have tons of types to choose from, but I tried the following: barbacoa, al pastor, chicken mole, and bison. The barbacoa proved to be a favorite, as I made sure to get at least one each time I went. It’s perfectly moist, acidic, sweet, and spicy. The al pastor has a good flavor and they make sure to give you several pieces of roasted pineapple, which is what I love to see from an al pastor taco! I did find the al pastor to be a bit dry, though. The chicken mole is probably delicious if you like mole, but it was my first time trying it and I just wasn’t a huge fan of the sauce. That being said, the chicken is super tender and pulled to perfect size. The bison taco, which I got on the recommendation of a super friendly employee, and it was seriously great. It was really moist and had the perfect balance of flavors, especially given the creamy cheese and the sweet roasted corn. They also have a few sides, like corn and chips and guacamole, but I was all about the tacos. Do yourself a favor and go to Taco Fundación ASAP! And then do yourself another favor and go again… and again… and again.

Jersey Social – Menu with Prices – 837 Jersey Ave, Jersey City

Jersey Social was such a good pick for the night!! The one thing that I absolutely fell in love with here was the vibe!! It was such a relaxed setting! One where no matter what mood you’re in, you can enjoy it here! The hostess, server, and bartender were all super friendly and made sure we were never in need of anything. Very attentive, but not overly to the point where it almost becomes annoying. Food! Chorizo fritters: I wasn’t the biggest fan of these! Which was mostly my fault because I’m not a big fan of chorizo to begin with! I ordered them because they looked so good and my curiosity got the best of me. For someone who likes chorizo, these might be for you.. but they just didn’t do it for me. Mac n cheese: the Mac n cheese was pretty good .. super creamy which is a plus. In a small way I felt like something was missing.. so on my next visit I’ll definitely try adding the bacon!! ; ) Sloppy Joe empanadas: These were so good! Probably my favorite of the night ! The meat inside isn’t your traditional cafeteria sloppy joe but more of an upscale boujie beef lol!! .. “Fancy Joe”? Also, the dipping sauce that these come with is amazing! Cheeseburger with bacon: The burger was also pretty good.. definitely got the job done… The burger comes with EVERYTHING on the side… The sauce, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, everything! And I do wish that everything would’ve came on the burger already.. I do understand that some people don’t like certain things.. but I personally feel like when everything gets to sit in there for a little while, the burger and bun soak up all of those delicious flavors! Not a huge deal, but again, probably would’ve been tastier with all the fix ins. The fries were really good too!! Probably my second favorite thing after the empanadas! I didn’t order a drink but my friend ordered an old fashioned and said that they made it perfectly! Parking around here was a bit of a problem! So I’d definitely recommend taking an Uber! Again, great vibe! Great staff! Good food! I’ll definitely be coming here again soon! I still have to try that Cinnamon Toast Crunch flan!!!

El Sauz Tacos 2 – Menu with Prices – 470 W Colorado St, Glendale

I am from South LA and Latina, and I love Delicious tacos. I am surprised by the amount of positive reviews this place has. It is definitely all about location, location, location. If you have had good tacos, away from this area, you will not like these tacos. I like my tacos to have good flavor, meat with good seasoning, and the meat to be thick and tender. The meat was chopped into dry ity bitys, full of fat, and super salty. I ordered 4 Al Pastor. The Al Pastor tasted like chorizo, salty, greasy, and full of fat. It was a little gross. I tried both their red and green sauce. Nothing good or special about their sauce, kinda plain. Not spicy. I went on a Thursday evening. There are no high chairs for kids. No inside seating. Yes there is parking. They DO NOT ACCEPT CARDS CASH ONLY. They offer reddish, lemon, and sauces with your tacos. I do not reccomend this place nor do I want to go back to this place.

Totally Baked – Menu with Prices – 348 Jefferson St, Savannah

This place is rather new and I had a 1/2 hour to kill while I was waiting for someone nearby so I thought I would stop in a give it a try. It was lunch time and no one else was there so I did wonder about that. I ordered a “Great Dane” which is roast beef with some unique cheese and on marble rye. It was super good. This was a very fine sandwich and it hit the spot perfectly. After tasting the food I hope more people try this place as it is very good and I don’t think many people know about it. The owner was there and he told me he has another more well established restaurant around the corner. He was very friendly. It is small place but very suitable to sit down and have a sandwich with 3 to 4 people. It may be more designed for take out and grab and go. They also sell deli meat by the pound which I will try. One of my new favorite places. If you like deli sandwiches this is your place. Reminds me a bit of NY or NJ deli with a Savannah funky twist. I recommend it!

Tarascon Empanadas – Menu with Prices – 9222 N Newport Hwy, Spokane

Finally got here! I’d been in this room once before, when this half was a bbq restaurant. Mr. Wok is still on the other side of the room, but – Argentinian empanadas? Yes please! We had one of every empanada they made, and an order of the chimichurri fries. Here are my thoughts, in no particular order: Chicken – It was pretty good – the crust was perfect, I loved the authentic red dye “Chicken” stamped on the side (they stamp the name of the filling on the side, because once they are folded up you can’t tell them apart anymore!), and the filling was moist and flavorful, but it was also kind of “chicken pot pie-ish”. Pretty good, I’ll call it. Spinach – Tasty. I wanted more spinach in it, but the combination of vegetables worked well together. Mushroom – My second favorite. Super delicious mushroom flavor, although the mushroom “bite” was very bitey. It tastes a lot like a good Beef Wellington tastes, but without the beef. I liked this one a lot. Ham and Cheese – Meh. It was very midwestern – sort of “meat and potatoes”, very plain and filling. Good flavors, but it sort of reminded me of an upscale Hot Pocket. Don’t get me wrong, I like a Hot Pocket as much as the next guy – but I wanted this to have more punch. Maybe a more flavorful cheese, or something else to set it apart. I do know folks for whom this is their favorite here, though, so what do I know? Humita- My favorite today. A wonderful blend of corn and other stuff that just sang on my tongue without being overpowering. It also carried a “not made in America” flavor profile that was exquisite. I super enjoyed this one. Beef – The jury’s still out on this one. I either really liked it or I didn’t care for it – it has a unique flavor profile that, like the humita, isn’t common in America. The ground beef, bells, and the other stuff inside (including green olives) melded very well together. But it wasn’t what I was expecting. I WILL be back to try this one again. Very interesting. Like I said, we’ll see. Chorizo – This is the one I came for. I have heard amazing things about this chorizo, house made by real live Argentinians in the style and flavor of Argentina. I’m so into cased meats, and chorizo is way up on my list. But – They didn’t have chorizo today. Waaaaaaahhhhh! The owner explained that it takes almost 48 hours to make the sausage, and so they would have it again tomorrow. Color me heartbroken. Please, please, please, Mr. Tarascon Empanada, please start a new batch of chorizo every day, and don’t ever run out again! I’m coming back for it! It is very important to order a cup of chimichurri to go with these empanadas for an extra $.50. One cup easily is enough for three or four empanadas. The fresh green flavors complete this meal with a satisfying and lingering flavor of authenticity. Although in all honesty, you’ll spend the next half hour wondering if you have cilantro in your teeth! I almost forgot. Order the chimichurri fries! Perfectly fried and tossed in chimichurri, they were delectable. Having spent nearly three decades living near the garlic capital of the world (Gilroy California, for you neophytes), these were better than any garlic fries I’ve ever eaten. And that’s saying something. You won’t go wrong here. Order them all and find the ones you like. You can get all seven for less than $25 ($3.25 each), so go for it! And get the chimichurri sauce!

Cantina Taco – Menu with Prices – 117 S Main St, Rockford

We’ve been fans of their tacos getting them at the market as well as through Stewart Square Eatery for years and now we’re so excited that Cantina Taco finally has its very own restaurant! I have not had the chance to eat inside yet but I did order delivery to my work one afternoon and was not disappointed. Here’s what I ordered: 1. The fish tacos – I’m a seafood fan and I tend to lean towards fish tacos whenever I stop at a taco place but I think these may be my new go-to. I was extremely impressed with how well seasoned and perfectly crisp their fish batter was without overpowering the fish itself and their slightly sweet slaw offered a great balance in the taco. 2. Chorizo brunch taco – chorizo, egg, potato – nicely cooked and delicious! 3. Chips and queso – Whatever is in their queso is creamy and addicting. Be warned, you’re probably not going to want to share (though there’s more than enough to.) Overall, I was happy as always with their tacos and would definitely recommend it ?

Little China Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 3161 Broadway Blvd. STE #R-141, Garland

I really wish I could give this more stars because you can tell everything was fresh, it was delivered hot, on time and should be GREAT! However, half of it was WAY to salty…The absolute best item was the Crab Rangoon, some of the best I’ve ever had. We had Chicken eggrolls which were average. We had the Egg Drop soup which wasn’t the best egg drop soup we’ve had, it was average. When my wife says something is too salty, it is definitely too salty because she will add salt if necessary and the remaining items were definitely too salty. Then we had Sweet & Sour Pork, Orange Beef and Sesame chicken which ALL were WAY too salty. The orange beef didn’t taste or look like orange beef, it looked like orange chicken… We had this delivered and without delivery fees it would be about $43, which is a little high for Chinese food and way too high for salty Chinese food. We are still looking for great delivered Chinese food! Chinese food is usually great delivered, it is like Christmas waiting for the delivery guy to arrive, but not this time. Sorry… It was so salty I’m not willing to take another chance on this place.

Albany halal grill Menu with Prices 118 Ontario St, Albany

Excellent food! The guys working here are friendly and accommodating. I feel like this is a hidden gem in Albany and it is my go-to place because it is affordable, reliable, and delicious. The meat is good quality! A lot of fast food places like this have food that is smelly and really greasy. That is not the case with the food at Albany Halal Grill. Best lamb over rice (halal gyro-cart style) food in the area! There’s no other place like it in here. You’d have to go to NYC for that. If you miss NYC corner stores and fried chicken places in Brooklyn, this is your spot.

Ceremonia Bakeshop – Menu with Prices – 743 Driggs Ave, Brooklyn

Hello, do not sleep on this place. Atmosphere: Super cute, quaint, bright and neat. There is a decent amount of space to sit and relax, and the decor is absolutely lovely. You can tell the owners put a lot of work into the design. Once you walk in you are immediately greeted by a window of treats and a plethora of sweet smells. Food/baked goods: Where to even begin… They have a solid brunch menu with savory and sweet options. Being the savory breakfast person that I am, I ordered the Biscuit, which is a cheddar & chive biscuit, bacon, cheddar, sunny up egg, tomato jam and arugula. This was on par with my favorite biscuit sandwich from The Corner in Montclair. Everything about this sandwich was fantastic- from the thick bacon to the fluffy biscuit and the perfectly runny yolk of the egg. This was delicious and filling and only $11, which honestly is not bad at all for Brooklyn prices. My partner got the chorizo breakfast burrito and it was filled with copious amounts of really tasty chorizo (not too salty which is awesome) and fluffy af eggs. We also ordered the matcha latte and a regular latte. They have numerous dairy alternatives so we opted for oat milk. The lattes were super fresh and the matcha was super tasty. So after brunch we ended up taking some baked goods to go, because obvs. We walked away with a lot because once you look at the case it’s hard not to. Here’s what we ended up with: Olive Oil Citrus Mini Loaf: My absolute favorite baked good from here. The cake is moist, has a nice hint of citrus, and it just all around tasty. If they made this into a full sized loaf I would have to tell them to hide it from me. Coconut Pandan Mochi: My fav second item. I love how the outer part of the mochi is crispy and has toasted coconut flakes, then inside is soft and chewy and has that perfect mochi texture. The pandan flavor is distinguishable from the coconut as well. Ube Mochi: Also solid, great Ube flavor Sea Salt Chocolate Chip cookie: Dope, dope dope dope. Soft and chewy on the inside. Chocolate Snickerdoodle: By far the sweeter cookie from the sea salt chocolate chip. Great cinnamon and chocolate flavoring blended together. I also walked away with an iced chai with oat milk. So freaking delightful, refreshing, and sweet! Prices are reasonable. To be fair we walked away with a ton so our tab was on the higher side, but for the quality and taste, it’s all well worth it. Service: Fantastic. I will always support badass women who run bad ass businesses. Take my money! Super excited to come back and try more, including the cakes!
