The new La Perla was very disappointing. I would give them ZERO stars if I could. With it looking like a ghost town it took the waitress about 10 mins to come take our order and didn’t even ask if we wanted drinks. My husband ordered menudo and he was brought a bowl of cow stomach only……apparently it wasn’t finished because there was no granos. They were selfish with their beans, my meat in my tacos were cold enough to keep my drink icee and I would say the only decent think was the rice on my place. The old La Perla would provide you chips with salsa, great food, along with great customer service, and we didn’t even get that. Also, it’s sad when you have to tell your waitress who “works here” that my lunch special includes a drink. When I asked for salsa for my tacos I was not even provided a spoon to put the salsa on my tacos. This establishment has gone down hill and I will never return.

Taqueria El Paisano – Menu with Prices – 1474 W Spring Valley Rd, Richardson

On Monday June 24th, I walk into this establishment and I’ve been a long time customer because they have great tacos. When I walked in I asked to place a to go order and they argued about giving me chips and salsa for my to go. I mentioned that when I sit down and eat. I get Chip’s and Salsa all the time. Why can’t they do that for me when I’m making a to go order?!! The owner of this needs to fix that because I’m sure not everyone will pay $5.50 for chips… Not happy at all. Will think about coming here again.

Painted Taco – Menu with Prices – 222 Rosemont Garden, Lexington

Great Vibe, Good Margaritas, So-So food. The vibe and theme of Painted Taco is what drew me in. I had seen the building while driving through the area and made a point to come when they opened. Of course we ordered margaritas, which did not disappoint. I would come back for the margaritas. The food was nothing special. The names of the tacos were fun. I had mine “painted” with queso. The tacos were decent too, but slightly overpriced. I was surprised tacos were $3.99 each. But the real reason this score is not higher is the chips and salsa. The chips were not fresh, some were cold. The salsa was not good. If you are going to serve tacos etc,you have to have good chips and salsa. My friend, a vegetarian, had limited options, since one of the products was not available yet. We were surprised there were no bean tacos – a simple vegetarian ingredient or that beans were not listed under BYO taco. Also to note the tip screen when paying for your food starts at a tip of 20%. I anticipate Painted Taco will get less tips this way, unless they change the screen to include 10%, 15% options – unless your goal is to get cash tips instead. But who carries cash these days?? I’m excited for this new place and I’ll be back for the margaritas and tacos, but not the chips & salsa.

Mariscos Mi Nuevo Nayarit – Menu with Prices – 1038 E Main St, Mesa

The service of this place has gone tremendously down. I don’t know if it was just because they may have judged my wife and I by the way we looked because with it being hot as hell outside and wanting to end our busy day of running errands we were not dressed for a restaurant like this idk but the waitress never came in to check in and see how we were doing not once meanwhile the waitress for the people sitting behind us came about 4 times in the hour we were there. We normally leave a large tip but this time I left them a note telling them about themselves and where they started from. This location just opened up last year and it was fantastic service was great and so was the food. Honestly the food is still good but I did notice the chuvi duvi I usually order tasted different like something was missing in it. The dish is large so we usually share it and she only provided a few crackers for one person and one spoon like really??? Don’t you see it’s in the middle of us like we’re sharing. Well anyway our waitress disappeared for a good twenty minutes no one ever came the boss was even there it wasn’t busy so y’all need to get your shit together. The two guys sitting in front of us had to tell a different waitress that their food was ready because they were able to see it sitting there waited to be served to them and were also disappointed and the waitress just apologized and said the other waitress was new. It is what it is but I’m so disappointed I’ll be taking my money I spend and tips to La Perla Negra where they have better service the only thing I liked better here was the Chuvi Duvi and the original waitresses…

Aguila Real Mexican Food Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 966 N Dutton Ave, Santa Rosa

3.5 for me. I’d love to go back and re evaluate. There were some things I liked and some things I didn’t. It was a mixed bag. Lets start with the likes: salsa bar has a great variety of mild, medium and spicy fresh salsas. There is plenty of seating available. No outdoor dining. I loved the presentation of the dishes. I love the side salad with the fresh mango salsa. My enchiladas came with 3 instead of 2. The delivery of the food was fast! Which is always wonderful on a hungry belly. What I didnt enjoy: The pastor was cooked to death and dry. The chips. They are very thin and break super easy. The chips snapped in half just digging in the salsa. Main reason I steer cleared from the nachos. I also asked for water 2 times before I just got up and helped myself to wash down the spicy salsa. I also had to get up a 3rd time for the check. Once the food came, staff was MIA. The waitress had a friendly smile though. Ohhhh….. and all card transactions have an automatic 3.5% charge regardless of what your bill is. YOU, the customer pays the merchant processing fee.

Campestre Mexican Bar and Grill – Menu with Prices – 910 Beaumont Centre Pkwy, Lexington

This restaurant has some of the nicest and accommodating staff I’ve ever met. I’ve been meaning to come here for quite a while and check out there street tacos among other things. When you first arrive as typical they will greet you and direct you to a table or a booth. Complimentary chips and salsa are also provided. They give you a creamy type of dip that is slightly sweet and really tastes great. The salsa is quite delicious and their chips are freshly made not too hard not to crunchy. My wife ordered a tamale and a lunch combo that she really enjoyed. I order street tacos and a chile relleno. Play close attention to the menu as these three tacos do come with both fresh and sauteed onions. While I absolutely love cilantro and fresh onions on my tacos I can’t say the same for sauteed onions. They have a taco sauce that they provide which is really complimentary to the tacos. Slightly spicy and a tad bit smokey. I am always one to add fresh sliced avocado to my tacos, which they obliged. My tacos came with the sauteed onions which I didn’t complain about but I did pick them out. When I saw that I picked out the onions and set one of them aside. When the staff came to check on us, our server noticed that I hadn’t eaten two the tacos and the onions I picked out. He happily offered to have two tacos made without onions. If I thanked him for his consideration and observation. These tacos were amazing to say the least! We will definitely be back to experience more of Campestre’s cuisine and get to know their amazing staff. Five Stars you guys knocked it out the park and won us over!

Tijuana Flats – Menu with Prices – 2849 Gulf to Bay Blvd unit c, Clearwater

Came to Tijuanas for Taco Tuesday. They have their special for only $5.99 and it comes with chips and a drink. Tacos are huge and they have a variety of options of meat to choose from. They have a huge hot sauce selection with about 20 different options to choose from and sample. The tacos come with chips but no salsa so order that, queso, quac or all 3 to your order. Good tacos but the sauces def make it a ton better with their huge selection! Also had their steak bowl with rice and retried and (you can also order black beans instead if you prefer) and it was a good portion for only $8. Last but not least of course i had to get dessert! It was only $2.99 for their cookie dough rolls and it came with chocolate sauce to dip them in! To drink they have fountain drinks, beer (bottle and draft) and sangria ($4) if you haven’t tried their sangria i highly recommend it because it was so refreshing and tasty!

Taqueria El Crucero – Menu with Prices – 2505 N Robinson Dr, Waco

Menu is on the wall by the cash register. $.50 extra charge for credit card purchases. The woman behind the counter is very matter of fact and not so friendly, get your order straight and get on your way. We ordered chips and salsa and guac. 3 cheese pupusas, 3 red enchiladas. Green bottle is the hot, red is the mild salsa. The salsa verde has some heat to it. The guac is super creamy but tastes decent. The cashier brought out our guac and made sure I wanted cheese on top of my enchiladas. She warmed up as we waited for our food and was quite attentive. The salsa isn’t bad, both the red and green. They will bring out more chips if needed as long as you order the chips and guac. The 3 chicken tacos, 3 cheese pupusas and 3 soyrizo Red enchiladas was $24.86. This small spot is deceptively good. We enjoyed everything and their quesadilla was so much bigger than we thought. The soyrizo red enchiladas were so yummy and the chicken tacos were tasty too. Good spot for some authentic Mexican or pupusas. Doesn’t look like much from the outside and inside but the flavors and food are well worth the visit.

Via Delosantos – Menu with Prices – 9120 N Central Ave, Phoenix

Saturday night. 6ish. Not very busy inside but the parking lot was jammed. Sat immediately. Chips and salsa along with waters brought quickly. Chips greasy and hot. Mild salsa had great flavor with a slight kick. Hot salsa was just that. Hot but good. Order a shredded beef chimi, kid’s enchilada plate, #12 combo. (Taco, enchilada, rice and beans) ordered the bean and cheese dip appetizer to start. Don’t bother with this one. It’s just refried beans in a dish. Good beans but not really a dip. We added salsa and it was much better. Food arrives. Everything looked good but instead of the kid’s enchilada they brought 2 mini tacos. We didn’t want to wait so my son said he’d eat them. I’d have thought we’d get a small discount for the mistake but nah. He ate them so no foul. Husband’s combo was average run of the mill mexican. Nothing wrong. Nothing special. My chimi was soggy but the tortilla mised with the guac and sour cream was good. Shredded beef tasted like something I’d cook in the crock on a long day. Overall was a decent meal and a good value if you’re looking for large portions. Just average though. Building is in dire need of a remodel. Missing tiles and chips in tables. If in the area I would dine again but not go out of my way.

GoodLife Brewing Company Menu with Prices 70 SW Century Dr Suite 100-464, Bend

Probably the most narcissistic customer service I’ve ever had. I asked for a comment card because I very politely wanted to recommend to the chefs that their salsa could use some thought or improvement or to see if maybe they had just had a bad day. The bartender or waitress informed me that they specifically didn’t have comment cards because of customers like me. “Their salsa was perfect and something every other customer loved except me.” Wow! It tasted like everything came straight out of a can. That’s a bold statement. Everyone has a bad day. Ingredients change, etc. Salsa should be delicious. It’s pretty simple. Fresh ingredients and a little tic. However if you want to have people tell you what you like and spend a decent amount of cash in the process of learning that they are perfect, well GoodLife is the place for you.

The Chicken Barn – Menu with Prices – 2601 Oakdale Rd # S, Modesto

The food is good but the service is actually horrible. I ordered on the phone and came in because I was in a hurry. Not one customer was there and they made me wait 15 minutes longer once I got there for a 10 peice chicken meal. It’s like they didnt want me to place a pickup order, they didnt like that. And the lady was rude. I really wont go anymore because the whole staff is actually VERY RUDE. 100% the rudest establishment I’ve been to. Horrible customer service.

Azuls Taco House – Menu with Prices – 1142 Edgewater St NW, Salem

Very underwhelming. I wouldnt call these authentic, only because I spend a great deal of time in Mexico (about every 6 weeks) and they arent even close. I could see how those who arent familer would call these “street tacos”. I Ordered the shrimp tacos. Tortilla is great and shrimp were cooked nice but wasnt very good. The shrimp is cooked in a style that I would put on a Po’boy, not in a taco. Cabbage “filler” needs some flavor, specifically a little cilantro and onions, maybe a sauce in with it. It had diced tomato that didnt add flavor and were mushy. Didn’t care for chipotle aioli sauce that came on shrimp. Ordered a side of chips and salsa and were served a tiny side of completly stale tostitos style chips and a cilantro tasting salsa that wasnt very good either. We thought it was a free sample till we realized that was the chip order. I would say slightly embarrassed that is what they are offering. I appreciate what they’re attempting but I have had better at various taco trucks around town.

La Parrilla Mission Taqueria – Menu with Prices – 7372 Mission Boulevard Suite 104, Riverside

The parking lot looked busy, so we decided to give it a try. The staff was friendly – they all looked very busy. I ordered a taco combination plate. It said 2 tacos, beans and chips. Mine came with rice, which I preferred. My husband ordered the chili rellano combination plate. Both came with a soft drink. I ordered a carne asada burrito to go. The server brought us a variety of salsas and chips. A red tomato salsa, a tomatillo salsa(best flavor), an enchilada type sauce and another yellow green salsa. These need work. They need some heat, salt – something’s missing. The server checked on us and I asked if we could get our sodas and then she additionally checked on us 2x more while we waited for our food. The chili rellano plate came first. The cheese was not melted on the inside, the server told us it’s because it’s queso Fresca. Didn’t matter because it still was cold inside. The homemade tortillas are yummy! Rice and beans were ok. Nothing exciting – seem to be missing something. My food still hadn’t come, so I asked when it was ready could I just get it to go, they said sure. Called me over to get it at the counter and I reminded them about my “to go” burrito. I sat back down and waited for it to be made. They did not offer and salsa to go which is ok since I didn’t care for it anyway. I tried my tacos once I got home. The meat needs seasoning. They definitely needed salsa. My son had the burrito- he said the beans need help and the meat needs seasoning too. He was bummed we didn’t get salsa. All in all, I wanted to love this place. Maybe I’ll give them a few months and try later. I’m giving 3 stars because they were trying hard.
