My mother and I absolutely love the food. The fried shrimp is to die for. It’s a local business. You watch them clean, prepare, and cook your food right in front of you. The tartar sauce is PERFECT! It’s a bit runny, but oh so good. The touch of sweetness balances everything out. We always get a pound and a half of fried shrimp, it comes up to 18 bucks and some change. Its a bit cheaper if you don’t want them to cook it. We always have them cook it, because we can’t get our batter to stay on our shrimp. You have to try them.

Salam’s Market & Deli – Menu with Prices – 616 S Forest Ave, Tempe

I went here to buy a couple things and ended up getting some baklava as well. The sign said $8.99 per pound or $1.99 per piece. The man who runs the place told me there is about 6 pieces per pound so I decided to go with that. He said that it’s cheaper going with the pound rather than buying piece by piece. After picking out my 6 pieces I did some more shopping. When I came back to pay he told me the baklava costs $13 and some change. I asked him how it came out to that price and he said it ended up being a pound & a half. I never saw him weigh it. The price he charged me was even more than the individual price. He’s not the nicest guy to deal with and he’s the only person I’ve ever seen running the store. The baklava isn’t that great to want to come back for it. There are many shops in the same area to go to that won’t rip you off. I won’t be back.

Crab Island – Menu with Prices – 103/d, 5151 Hill Avenue, Toledo

Ever since my trip to New Orleans I’ve been dying for more Cajun ANYTHING! This place did not disappoint. I didn’t have overly high expectations for strip mall seafood in a sketchy area of Toledo, but don’t let the humble exterior and less than ideal location fool you. This is THE best seafood in the Toledo area. It’s much better than the chain competitor that will go unmentioned (cough cough Red Lobster). I read a few people’s reviews complaining about it being pricy… it’s NOT! It’s fair market price for seafood, similarly priced to higher quality seafood counter at a grocery store or local fish market AND they cook it to perfection! I have paid double or triple the price at other locally owned seafood spots. All of their seafood dinners come Baked, fried, or steamed WITH potatoes, corn, and broccoli. You show me anywhere you can find a half pound of QUALITY large shrimp WITH three sides, lemon wedges, clarified garlic butter, and cocktail sauce cheaper and I’ll gladly give it a try. For 12.95$ I couldn’t have bought and made it myself any cheaper… and I would have had to deal with a stinky kitchen, dirty dishes, deveining, and then find the time to stand over the stove. I do recommend calling ahead… it takes a minute to make GOOD seafood properly and there really isn’t much to do while you wait. It is carry out only. I can’t wait to go back and try the house seasoning. The Cajun steamed shrimp was FIRE! My daughter and I smashed. She looked at me like, “really mom?” When we pulled in. We didn’t even make it home before she had polished off half the meal. I will be back, and I will be telling my seafood loving friends all about Crab Island.

Seafood Bandits – Menu with Prices – 1923 Bruton Blvd, Orlando

Moved back to Orlando after 10 years and was looking for the Jamaican food truck and bumped into this lot. I ordered the steamed crab legs and shrimp. She recommended it fried.I never had fried crab before. To my surprise, it was amazing. Well seasoned. Nice batter on the crabs and shrimp. And the shrimp was huge. Seasoned rice could have been better but the seafood will make me a permanent customer.

The Taste of Mardi Gras Foods – Menu with Prices – 9180 Frisco St, Frisco

Dropped by the Frisco Fresh Market today to try the food from The Taste of Mardi Gras. I attempted last week but there was a huge line and I wasn’t sure what was on the menu. I decided before waiting in the long line I’d go up to the register and check out the menu. They had a board that listed some wonderful items however there were no prices. I picked up what I thought was a mini menu in front of the register however it was just a brochure. They were so busy because they cook to order most of what they sell I decided to look online, to no avail, and then decided to come back another time. I contacted them on social media and asked for them to post a menu with prices but to no avail. So, I dropped by today and there was no line. I was quoted a price of $8.99 a pound for boiled crawfish and saw they had put out 2 menus by the register. I purchased a 16″ Shrimp Po’boy ($21) and 3 pounds of crawfish ($27) to take home. My son really dislikes tomatoes and pickles, so we ordered the po’boy with lettuce only in addition to the garlic butter they add. When we got home my son unwrapped his po’boy to find the normal amount of tomatoes and pickles, no huge deal just disappointing, pull them off and eat it. The fried shrimp were wonderfully cooked and had a little kick added to the batter. The bread was outstanding and is from Gambino’s (if you know, you know). My crawfish were seasoned okay although we both detected a bit of sweetness that was somewhat off putting. There were a number of mushy tails, tails that were dark grey, and some that were hard. Most of the crawfish were very small, even though I realize this is early in the season I’ve had larger elsewhere here locally in the past couple weeks. When paying the premium price of $8.99 a pound for crawfish at a walk-up counter, I guess I expected more. The people behind the counter were very pleasant and conversive and I wish them well as a fellow Louisianan now Texan. P.S. Late this afternoon I got a response to my online inquiry about their prices however a bit late. I was told if you ask for “The Special” you can get the crawfish at $7.99 a pound. So far this year my standby for crawfish is a hole in the wall in Lewisville called the Bayou Market where you can get mud bugs for $6.99 lb anyday and 10 lbs or more for $5.99 lb. Waiting on Mudbugs Bar & Grill to open up soon on Hwy 423 to try them, is owned by Louisiana folks from Jennings who started out running live crawfish from LA to Dallas.

Fresco’s Fish and Chips – Menu with Prices – 201 Augusta Ave, Toronto

Personally one of the best fish and chips places in Toronto for me. I’m slightly addicted? I usually get the haddock or halibut, but wanted to try something else and opted for the shrimp today. Like their fish, the fried shrimp was oh so delish! The batter, which is part of why I love this place, is sooooo flaky and light. Doesn’t feel heavy or oily at all. Size of the shrimp was also pretty substantial. Nowhere does it say so, but it’s what I’d call “jumbo”. The whole thing is fried to perfection, crispy outside batter paired with plump and succulent shrimp. I dip it in their tartar sauce like I would fish, but that’s just my typical irresistible urge to dunk fried foods sauces. Now onto the “chips”. Their regular hand cut fries are pretty decent, but I usually substitute for sweet potato fries. Again, super light and crispy outside, then soft inside, paired with chipotle mayo. (I’ve also tried their onion rings, which became my one and only, however tiny, disappointment with Freso’s. It’s breaded not battered. For a place that has perfect fish batter, they breaded their onion rings… sigh) Overall though, this place is a winner. Massive portions. Super chill environment, oldies music, excellent service. Owner(?) is super accommodating and friendly. You can tell he cares about the satisfaction and opinion of his customers. Will so so so be back.

Viet Hung Seafood Market – Menu with Prices – 25374 E Baseline St B, San Bernardino

This place definitely made my midweek dinner a hit for myself, my fiancee and my roommates. I recently came here on a whim along with a huge craving for breaded fish. I knew the market fried fish for you, but I wasn’t too sure what sort of batter they used or what oil they used. So I opted to by a pound of fresh Tilapia and cook it myself. $4.65 for a albs?? Works for me! They also had pre-bagged frozen scallops for sale and they were a very decent size (Not giant like a 5 star restaurant, but definitely a good meaty morsel). They were priced by the pound, $10 for 1lbs and I got a dozen in one bag! I seasoned them and cooked them in butter. They were delicious!! Definitely coming back here again, however I didn’t give it full stars because of the way they set up their shop. Like another person wrote, I also wished they gave out numbers instead of serving customers as they come. I waited in line for about 7 minutes, one woman was walking back and forth stacking different fish on a tray, one man clearly saw me wait so he nodded over to me saying “next customer?”. I stepped forward and before I could say anything the woman rudely plops her tray in front of me without even looking and says “I WANT MY FISH FRIED AND COULD Y’ALL HURRY UP I NEED TO LEAVE.” Seriously??? Both myself and the man behind the counter gave each other weird looks, but I gave him the go ahead to just serve her and get her out. I think having the numbered system would do the market a lot of good and will at least keep things fair and organized.

Krickett’s Bar & Grill – Menu with Prices – 14422 Pacific Ave S, Tacoma

Went there for last Seahawks game! Was really busy and seemed to have plenty of staff, but they all wanted to stay behind bar. When any of them came out they would not look around or check to see if anyone needed service. We had to go get all of our drinks and finally was able to flag down a waitress for food order. Also please change your shrimp dish back to the large prawns, not the tiny quarter inch shrimp you get now, all breading and no shrimp! Once we got a waitress she was really good.

Wings & Rice Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 3106 W Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport

I am excited! This place had made me super happy. Finally a place on the South side of Shreveport that knows how to cook some good food. To top it off, the owners are as sweet as can be. It doesn’t end there. No sir. Their prices are very reasonable too. Guys, do not take your Sweetie on the 1st date here…or the 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th… This is a hole in the wall. Great food, good value, nice people, and clean too. Most women will not be very thrilled with your choice of atmosphere when they are expecting you to be putting your best foot forward and working to impress. However, before marriage, if your lady hasn’t warmed to you taking her to places like this, abandon ship before too late. Delicious fried rice! The meats are not overcooked and dried out either. I’ve had the, shrimp, combination chicken and shrimp, as well as the beef and the plain. The Chicken and Shrimp Combo is the ticket for me. I’ll admit I haven’t yet tried his bacon fried rice but as we all know, bacon makes everything better. Soon my friend, soon I will experience you my smokey pig fried rice. Their fried catfish with cornmeal batter is as good as it gets at this price point. I could eat his fried catfish at least 4 days a week. Pro tip: if you get fried fish to go, open up the lid of the styrofoam container before driving away so the perfect crispy batter doesn’t get steam-treated. What I’ve had of his wings I’d rate a 7 out of 10. He has some uncommon and nifty flavors and I haven’t yet tried most of them. Personally, I’m not fond of the boneless. His french fries are standard crinkle fries from frozen. What makes them special and highly addictive is his special sauce you need to dip them in. The appearance of this magical sauce is similar to Thousand Island dressing but tastes far superior. (update: I was uncertain before but have confirmed that the magical sauce is his tartar sauce, made fresh by his wife. It’s a little sweet along with a little sweet pickle, slight spiciness, and a whole lotta yum). I am unable to say for certain that it is free of all illegal substances. Just do it.

Kenny’s Burger Joint – Frisco – Menu with Prices – 1377 Legacy Dr #120, Frisco

Yesterday was our second visit to Kenny’s Burger Joint. The first visit we had an awesome server named Michelle. She is da bomb, if you happen to go here, you have to ask for Michelle! Unfortunately she was not working on Saturday, but Andrea was a good backup… We stopped in to celebrate my Son’s 33rd Birthday! It’s crazy, where does the time go??? This place is SO delicious, everything you can imagine for a change of pace in choice of burgers and their food is all so fresh! Not to mention the burgers are all a half pound, how nuts is that?! But they are worth every bite. My Daughter in Law like the Tuna Steak sandwich and my Son and Spouse love the Mushroom/Brie burger so much, I thought I’d try one too. The first time I visited I had the Cheddar Royale burger, and it was superb So this time I thought I’d join the club and try the Mushroom/Brie burger, bec they went on and on about how good it was, lol. NOT, it was definitely not my cup of tea. I make queso for the family because they love it, me, not so much, so I just make it for them. This burger tasted like a burger w queso on it I’m guessing they have to make it more liquified to put on a burger, but it completely change the Brie’s real flavor. I’d much rather have the Mushroom/Goat cheeseburger from Hoppdoddy’s any day… Enough about me! My Daughter in Law generally loves the Tuna Steak sandwich as it’s made with a big hunk of Tuna, cooked ever so slightly, yum. However, on this visit she couldn’t eat it, they had smeared on the Wasabi as if it was a burger condiment, like you would Mustard or Mayo. So needless to say, it was way too hot I also forgot to mention, we tried the fried pickles on or first visit as well. They are pretty good, I like that they’re not chip like and were fried a little longer so they have this nice fried brown color to them, so good! My Son and Hunny loved their Mushroom/Brie, of course, my Son eating a double patty, yea that’s a pound of beef, whoa. But we ate every bite of our burgers too! He and his wife even had room for an adult shake! They had the “insomniac”, which was quite tasty. But we didn’t have room for another bite of food or drink! So if you’re really hungry and can finish a HALF pound burger w/a yummy GF bun, head on over to the Burger Joint, it is SO yummy and a fair price for all you get to eat!

The Blue Flame Coffee – Menu with Prices – 15541 Product Ln #102, Huntington Beach

Definitely my new coffee spot! I couldn’t be happier with the decision to come to Blue Flame. The coffee is extremely fresh, blooms beautifully and tastes great. They don’t have a sign in front which I think they should change soon but it’s well worth the visit. They allow you to purchase in bulk too, so I got a 5lb bag for about $8.50 a pound I drink about 2 cups a day every day and I truly think if you add sugar to coffee than you got the wrong kind. Blue Flame coffee is so fresh and smooth it can easily be drank black, as espresso or my favorite way which is keto style (butter, MCT oil & half/half). So let’s recap – Freshly roasted – Cheaper than store bought – Local American Business – Ability to purchase in bulk – Super nice owners you’ll be proud to support – Needs to put up a bigger sign & street signs to draw more people in You guys are doing great and I wish you all the best. I will be back every time this bag runs out and will buy a big bag to send my dad next time too.

Justin’s Seafood – Menu with Prices – 4334 S Court St, Montgomery

I was visiting family in Montgomery and they love this place for fried seafood. The inner and outer appearance definitely leave much to be desired…and this of course led me to believe that the food would be fantastic! No, really. I can appreciate a place where all of the money and talent is reflected in the food itself. It was “eh”. They use plain fishfry- kind of bland and not much seasoning. I ordered fried shrimp and flounder with french fries. The shrimp were large, butterflied and battered. Pretty good. The flounder was fried with the plain fishfry. Not sure if there were spicier batter options available. Fries were very plain and basic, nothing special. The good news is everything is cooked to order. Also it’s fast and cheap. If you’re on this side of town and craving fried seafood, go for it!

New York Chicken And Grill – Menu with Prices – 3203 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Richmond

If zero was an option I’d put it. My 10yr old got a fried fish meal while eating it he said what’s this. and on every piece of fish inside was a thick piece of paper with words. whatever they wrap the fish or set it on they fried everything with that paper on it. I know damn well somebody saw that paper on the fish when dipping it in batter.not one but all. Disgusting and I wish I had time that day to take a picture to post here and take it back. When you dont take pride in your business you’re going to keep having the same lack of business so changing the name of this establishment isnt fixing the problem
