My cousin brought all the seafood to be prepared by the kitchen tonight. And I think he oversaw the cooking too being he was gone half the time. So this is as much a tribute to him as it is to the establishment that brought the BEST Chinese banquet-styled seafood dinner I’ve had to date. Thank you Wu’s! And I am sorry to the cousins who’d opted out tonight- you don’t know what you’d missed. From the biggest stone crab I’ve laid eyes on (20lb) prepared 3 ways- steamed with ginger, garlic and spices to pan fried and roasted in maggi and crab shelled guts in air fried wild rice… it was a crab wet dream you’d never thought u could dream nor want to wake up from. Seriously, each successive dish was better than the first- and I’ve had these renditions before… but never quite like tonight. Just when we thought we were up to our necks in stone crab heaven and near full… that’s when the party really was getting started. Holy heck. Geoduck blanched and cooled were the perfect chewy and unctuous texture… doused in soy and wasabi paste or lemon juice (my preferred) was almost a palate cleanser. Spicy long-horned peppers stir fried with meaty fat eel materialized before our eyes. Alongside jellyfish-head, which were the crispiest, cleanest cuts of jellyfish that looked like candied caramel florets laying across a bed of requisite pickled white radish. Holy crap. These were apps. What the heck was the crab? The typical food succession was all out of whack but absolutely No one was complaining nor hinting they were the least full. Our delectable soup of golden consommé came next. It was obviously the juice of 10 baby seals but we’ll never know since they were no evidence. Another palate cleanser, of course. Stone fish later more accurately, young Rock fish was cleaned, cubed and braised to gelatinous perfection. It was meat-filled, silky and fatty- not a hint of fishiness nor a single obtrusive bone in place. Giant scallops, my one and only gripe was overdone. Thank goodness they were so big and bold that the bean thread with tablespoons of sautéed garlic, salt and a dash of Vietnamese ghost pepper sort of covered it up. Almost. If you blink twice you might miss one of the most glorious dishes still- what looked like sweet and sour chicken sans sauce was actually Geoduck stomach, delicately treated, breaded, deep fried and sprinkled with salt and pepper seasoning. Dam, that’s good. Stir fried string beans with minced innards and piping hot stewed eggplant in a bean curd found their way onto the suzie. Flavorful but we were simply uninterested at this point. Personally , I was polishing off the 2nd bowl of crabshell fried rice I’d hoarded earlier. It’s restaurant fried rice- usually elevated with bits of dried scallop, flavoring, slight of hand, and leftovers of the most coveted dish. I’ve had this only 3 times and Bamboo’s version is the most Kickass and I say that with no reservation. The number #1 seafood marathon had come to an end, as all good things must. We were filled absolutely, delectably and more than a bit uncomfortably with Last Meal worthy contenders threatening to knock us out cold in food coma, when sliced honeydew and fried mini buns in condensed milk arrived. The service was impeccable, from drinks to dessert and everything in between. Obviously, we had a hookup- cousin knew the chefs or manager and/or entire kitchen staff. The spinster is a regular at these hotspots and can sweet talk a lady faster than you can count to five in Spanish. Even though it’s his birthday, cousin delighted in bringing us to his place, supplied the very best menu and commandeered the entire production; it’s his way of giving love to feel love- We freaking love you F- and fcking Happy Birthday! Fresh Stone Crabs – Menu with Prices – 1040 Biscayne Blvd, Miami

For those not aware…The Florida stone crab season starts on October 15th and continues until Mother’s Day in May. This is a delivery service only (no storefront). If you haven’t had Florida Stone Crabs and love seafood….this may push the king crab off its throne as the caviar of crab meat. While staying in MIA, I wanted to have some stone Crabs for a social gathering. I researched online and ran across this business. I called Shelley and he offered to deliver the order free of charge to my location. He had several sizes that particular day but not colossal. However, the jumbo size did not disappoint. Stone Crabs were delightfully sweet and definitely fresh. The mustard sauce complimented the sweet crab meat. I was unable to enjoy my other courses that evening due to how much crab I ate. The crab meat was so delicious that I ate till I could no more (7 jumbo claws). I look forward to ordering overnight delivery service from the Northeast.

Southern Seafood Market – Menu with Prices – 1415 Timberlane Rd #113, Tallahassee

Every year, on (or very soon after) the opening of Florida’s stone crab season on October 15, I call my favorite fish monger, Southern Seafood, to reserve the biggest claws they can find for my annual “First Catch Feast.” It’s been a tradition in my home for over three decades. I think the crew at SS may actually recognize my voice; they certainly expect my call. This year, we had to postpone our annual full-on feast because of residual post-Hurricane craziness — but I couldn’t resist or deny myself tasting that uber-fresh, delectable, sweet claw meat. So we scaled back to a “First Catch Snack.” The cost was a little crazy: $45/lb for colossals – but we HAD to spring for it. There is simply nothing better than fresh stone crab claws — and I believe the bigger the better. And these monsters were amazing. (Plus, “first catch” just comes once a year. Splurge worthy.) As usual, I cracked and completely cleaned each claw, exposing pure meat and accompanied them with a mustard sauce (recipe from the iconic Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami) and hash browns (traditional side). It’s good to know I can always count on Southern Seafood to have the best, freshest seafood — and, especially, the best stone crabs in the region from October 15 until the season ends on May 15.

Blue Runner Seafood – Menu with Prices – 11338 Biscayne Blvd, Miami

A++++ 6 STARS!! This is a hidden GEM!! It is hands down the freshest tastiest seafood I have ever had, and I’ve had A LOT of seafood in my life! My girlfriend and I were on Vacation and wanted to get some stone crab without breaking the bank. She found this place on YELP and we decided to give it a shot. It’s a truck parked on the side of the road, easy to find, and there’s a super friendly guy working out of the back of it. We got the shrimp and fish Ceviche, JUMBO stone crabs which are HUGE, and some other Sashimis. The gentleman working there asked if it was my first time being there, and after I told him yes, he said “you’ll be back” and he was right! We came back the very next day to get more stone crabs. Just GO HERE! You will be very very happy you did!!! Can’t say enough great things about this place!!

Elysian Seafood – Menu with Prices – 2381 St Claude Ave, New Orleans

The Auction house Market was our first stop in Nola. A fancy food market with a variet of businesses to choose from. There is a central bar area surrounded by seating areas. Did I particularly enjoy fishing for seats, NO. It was in fact annoying- but it is a food market- go figure. Elysian Seafood was my pick of the day- I am in Nola, of course I am going to have seafood! I wanted to more than one dish so I went with half portions of the gulf seafood ceviche 8$ as well as the crab cakes ~13$. The ceviche 2/5 (seafood medley was marinated in coconut milk, cucumber, mint and jalapeno with a side of tortilla chips) although sounded appealing, really lacked flavour especially working with coconut I expected more of a creamy richness to it but it was more watery. The crab cakes 4/5 were so good! I have never sampled crab cakes with corn cream sauce on a bed of potatoes. The combination was so powerful. The crab cakes were flaky and light but glazed in the creamed corn added a southern touch to this dish. So good! A lot of people were ordering the grilled garlic oysters that seemed like a popular dish. Glad I got to try some local cuisine!

Big chopsticks – Menu with Prices – 1089 Baker St #C, Costa Mesa

Ok I got a brochure in the mail today. I looked it over made me excited because they have seafood in the bag etc. very wide variety of things to order. I tried to call in my order for pick up but the number linked to yelp is not to the right store I was out and about didn’t have the brochure with me. I ended up driving there to place my order. It didn’t look so great when I got there but I never really read a book by its cover so to speak. Let’s get to it. Spring roll had burnt cabbage in it. Orange chicken was to hard to chew. Fried rice was brown rice because I thought fried rice had veggies. Hot and sour soup taste burnt not a lot flavor besides the burnt taste. Cajun crawfish was the best thing! Honestly if I want seafood in a bag I will just go to kickin crab or boiling crab. So no I won’t be back not even for the crawfish. Thank you again for another horrible experience with chines food in the OC!!!

Storming Crab? Seafood Restaurant Lexington – Menu with Prices – 4009 Nicholasville Rd, Lexington

Seafood on land? Yup! Some may probably give a side eye but the seafood craving is real. Came in to venture and it was a pleasure. Who would have thought? Thunder, rain and lighting, storm me away but Storming Crab seemed to be the next best thing here! One out of their seven locations and the only one in Kentucky, they’re conveniently located along Nicholasville Road near the Fayette Mall. Service was excellent and ambience was good and chill! Sat down and was greeted by “Is anyone here allergic to crabs?” Good laugh! Handed us the whole shebang – seafood bibs, cracker, picker, and gloves. The complimentary seafood bread was amazing, soft and tasty, with crunchy crust, gooey cheese, and delicious crab tidbits on top. Can’t blame you if you want more, you can also order it as your appetizer for $4.99/4pc if the complimentary serving wasn’t enough. They were thaaaaaat good! Not a case of vandalism coz they let you use their marker – you’ll see each and every corner of your table, all over the walls, booths, left, right, up and down, all the way up to their bathroom stalls some random names and dates, sometimes with sweet quotes and sayings written by previous diners. Imagine Love Lock Bridges without the locks. It’s norm for everyone to leave an imprint of their visit. Of course we felt the desire to jump on the bandwagon and did it too! We wrote our names on the window blinds. Hah! Create your own lunch or dinner combo. 1/2-lb order comes with potatoes and 1-lb comes with corn, sausage and potatoes. Seafood options are crawfish, shrimp, clams, lobster, dungeness crab legs, snow crab legs, king crab legs, scallops, and mussels. Choose your boil flavor between crab house cajun, old bay butter and garlic butter. Heat levels can be mild, medium, hot, very hot, super hot or sam’s special. Got their Dinner Combo #5, served in a hot and steamy plastic bag, with juicy and delishy corn, potatoes, sausage, king crab legs, mussels, with shrimp substitute for crawfish, in garlic butter sauce and mild heat. Asked for extra garlic butter sauce coz I love to double dip and wolf my seafood down and dirty. Screaming yummy goodness that awakened my soul to amazing Allelujah delight! The cajun fried rice had nothing to write home about but it was a good compliment to our meal. The fried okra was delicious and crisp, loved it! One may think it won’t be the freshest of the fresh but does it taste good? Heck yeah! Will I go back? If I’m in the area, why not? No kidding, it’s absolutely an enjoyable meal! Sea food, see food. Come see it to believe it.

Francesca’s Favorites – Menu with Prices – 2046 McKinley St #7, Hollywood

Now that I live in New Orleans, there are certain things I really miss about home and thanks to Francesca’s Favorite’s I can have a taste of Florida here in Louisiana. We had the sweetest, most succulent stone crab claws tonight and what a treat it was! They came packaged perfectly with little wooden hammers, in a styrofoam cooler, and the ice was still frozen solid! Also, the mustard sauce, which was included along with the claws, was the perfect accompaniment! I wanted to impress my in laws, who are very picky about their seafood, and they were raving! I can’t recommend this place enough.

The Soup and Noodle – Menu with Prices – 807 N Tustin St, Orange

Been wanting to try this place for awhile and everything was fantastic! We ordered a combo plate (salmon, garlic noodles, and steamed veggies), seared tuna garlic noodles, seafood fried rice, and lomo saltado plate (it came with garlic noodles and fries). Everything was great but I especially loved the fried rice and lomo. The rice was simple but the flavor of the seafood was super savory. The lomo had seasoned fries which were especially tasty because some parts were crispy while others had soaked up the delicious sauce. We tried the wintermelon tea which was refreshing and sweet. It wasn’t cloying sweet like other places though, so I liked that. Their lychee tea is awesome, very refreshing without being too sweet. I also got their Vietnamese iced coffee. Like typical Vietnamese coffee, it was strong but tasty. The service was great as well. We were seated right away and we were able to customize our orders as we wished. The food came out quickly too. At first I thought the price was a little high but its definitely worth the quantity of food you get. We got 4 dishes for 4 people and had a ton of leftovers. If you have a normal appetite, I suggest sharing 1 plate between 2 people. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Beijing Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 502 Elm Ave, Roanoke

Ordered two Beijing dishes tonight from this place for the first time- tofu and shrimp with white rice, and crab ragoons. Overall experience was awful. Plus ++ -Quick delivery. (Of course) -Crab Rangoons fair. Negatives– -Bland. Brown sauce that coated both dishes was strictly brown sauce. Brown flour/gravy? -Tofu dish was pre-made (Fried) tofu mixed with WAY TOO BIG CHUNKS of broccoli. As in my mouth hurt. It was undercooked and just terrible overall. It came with a couple also raw pieces of carrot and onion. A few baby corns thrown in for good measure. -The shrimp dish was the same tasteless glob and of very little value. There are very little options for delivery in Roanoke and unfortunately this isn’t one either.

Seafood Bandits – Menu with Prices – 1923 Bruton Blvd, Orlando

Moved back to Orlando after 10 years and was looking for the Jamaican food truck and bumped into this lot. I ordered the steamed crab legs and shrimp. She recommended it fried.I never had fried crab before. To my surprise, it was amazing. Well seasoned. Nice batter on the crabs and shrimp. And the shrimp was huge. Seasoned rice could have been better but the seafood will make me a permanent customer.

Mifflinâ??s House Menu with Prices 2467 Jefferson Rd, Athens

Fresh lively authentic Peruvian food in a spot that has held several different restaurants over the years. They have brightened it up with warm colors and lights and comfortable booths and tables. The menu has about 6 pages of foods including an entire page of cervichs. We had a big plate of seafood fried rice and the seafood trio which has the fried rice, the classic fish cervich and some chunks of fried fish and fried yucca. The rice dish had a bit too much salt, but had plenty of well cooked and tasty shrimp some rubbery calamari and some fish and onions with soy and tomato sauces flavoring the rice. The cervich was a generous portion of fresh fish plus onions and hamony corn and very sour with lime juice. There’s are 3 other options. The fried fish was tasty and the yucca was a nice foil for the sourness of the cervich. Service was quick, friendly and pleasant. The owner came to our table to visit which was nice. Portions we’re very large and the prices reasonable for what you get. The varied menu has many choices. This place is worth a visit for authentic Peruvian food.

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue – Menu with Prices – 854 S Boulder Hwy, Henderson

We have not been here for awhile but were in the mood for L&L this evening. I usually get the garlic shrimp and broccoli which I tried again tonight, along with a side of their mac salad. We also got the shrimp curry with rice. The shrimp in both entrees was the same, the difference was what they put on top. In the past the shrimp (plenty of them) were stir dried with the garlic and the broccoli all at once and was very tasty. Tonight we got the shrimp which was breaded (not my liking) with barely cooked garlic spooned on top. The broccoli was steamed I guess and sitting on the side where the garlic never touched it. This was a big let down! I really wanted that shrimpy-garlicy-broccoli goodness we used to get at L&L. As for the curry it smelled like curry. The shrimp the same battered and fried as in the meal described previously but the curry just poured on top. It was OK tasting? But not our idea of curry and it was rather bland. As for the mac salad, the noodles were mooshy and the taste bland. Something has changed in how they make it, clearly not the mac-salad we have come to know and like at L&L. We did not get our other usuals but based on the two we got tonight I am a bit hesitant to go back. I suppose we will give them a go again and order the chicken instead. We have liked L&L over the past 12 years or so that we have been going, tonight was a disappointment tho. It is till nice and clean inside, and the wait staff friendly so that has not changed. I feel bad giving them 3 stars.
