Wow. Inside and out. Not only are the cakes absolutely stunning, but they are beyond delicious. Finally a (really) good looking cake that tastes just as good, if not better than what it looks like. Shantelle is truly a cake aficionado. This was my first time ordering a cake from Boise Cakery and now I won’t ever order a cake from anywhere else. I asked for a tall cake for a birthday celebration and I really expected a tall and beautifully iced cake. What I got was a complete showstopper. I was beyond amazed at how beautifully decorated it was and my amazement only continued when I had the first bite. I ordered the Spiked Creme Brûlée and like i said, it was beyond delicious. I can’t recommend Boise Cakery enough. Very reasonably priced for the detail and quality that you get in return. I can’t wait to try more flavors, as of right now I’m already plotting to come up with an excuse to order another cake.

Pie Peddlers Bakery – Menu with Prices – 300 S 6th St #104, Waco

I hit up Pie Peddlers in Waco for a bit of mid-afternoon sugar & caffeine. A slice of quite sweet buttermilk pie & a cup of richly flavored, robust coffee hit the $6 mark. Counter staff were smiling, friendly, and efficient. Crust in the pie was quite thin & baked very crispy. It was not a flake crust that I discerned, but rather a very thin (1/16″ ish), very dense, pretty brittle, not crumbly, dough crust. Eaten by itself, the crust offered up a neutral taste with overtones of sweetness. The buttermilk pie filling carried for me only a sweet flavor, no particularly distinguishing flavor notes besides that. Its texture was distinctly granular, bordering on being crystalline. The filling was also very moist with tiny pockets of sweet liquid (watery sugar syrup) settled along the bottom crust of the slice. So this was a *very* sweet slice of pie. The top of the filling was somewhat of a hybrid between the two finishes I’ve found on buttermilk pie: (1) a thin layer of cake crumb like baked crust or (2) a torched creme brulee caramelized sugar plating. Pie Peddlers’ top was more at the creme brulee topping, but softer, more resilient, nearly sponge cake buoyancy at the point of the slice. That resilience became firmer & firmer toward the outer crust, until it was very much in line with being a creme brulee caramelized topping at the outer edge. So if pie is your game and you’re near Waco, hit up the friendly folks at Pie Peddlers for some really, really good pie.

Simply Sweet Cakery – Menu with Prices – 2930 Grace Ln f, Costa Mesa

Simply Sweet Cakery made our dream wedding cake for our wedding on Feb 3, 2018. We were so happy to work with them as a vendor. Lindsay was great to work with. They were always very responsive with emails and prompt. When we went in for a tasting, they had lots of options for us to taste that we had pre-selected. I was thoroughly impressed with all of them, but I was taken aback with the triple berry cake. I pretty much knew right then that I would choose them, even though they were the first cake vendor that I had gone to see! We tried other places, and none of which compared to Simply Sweet. I found that many cakeries offered EXTREMELY sweet buttercream or fondant frosting or filling. I hated this! I didn’t want to have an overly sweet cake that just tastes like sugar. Not only that, but Simply Sweet had a competitive price for the quality that they offered. They also offer options in case you want to have a smaller cake to cut in front of guests as well as a kitchen cake to cut in the back in case slices run out. Lindsay helped us design our wedding cake, number of tiers, monogram, ribbon outline, and floral topping. We decided to get a white buttercream frosting, triple berry cake with 3 tiers, a gold ribbon at the bottom of each tier, and purple roses separating each tier in a circular ring. It came out stunning. Not only that, but people couldn’t stop eating the cake. Some people even went for seconds! I am so happy to know that we made the right decision. I would highly recommend Simply Sweet Cakery to anyone searching for a cakery. Thank you for making our day perfect and “simply sweet”!

Saffron Indian Bar and Grill Menu with Prices 3300 S Vista Ave, Boise

We were visiting boise for vacation and decided to give this place a try as we were craving for indian food that had dosa options in Boise. Being from the bay area, we are used to plenty of good indian food choices and were not expecting much in boise. However, this place turned out to be a big hit. We ordered masala dosa, goat biriyani, mullagawatny soup and paper roast. All of them turned out to be better than our expectations and best part of it was our daughters who don’t eat much asked for more after tasting those dosas. The location, cleanliness, ambience, quality and service were all excellent. The hotel is located inside an upscale hotel in a nice big room with plenty of space. The utensils and food were of high quality and service excellent with quick response to our needs. KK was the one helping us and he made sure we were happy with the experience. We will definitely go back here while visiting Boise. Highly recommend this place for anyone wanting indian food in boise

85C Bakery Café | Arden Fair Mall – Menu with Prices – 1689 Arden Way #1186, Sacramento

Eighty Five Degree Celsius, Sacramento California- Okay, so visiting Sacramento and it’s after 9pm and looking for dessert to fill in the empty spots dinner didn’t cover. Narrowed the choices down to three, but ended up with 85 Bakery Cafe because of the variety of cake by the slice. So yeah, 85 is a chain. That could be bad, or it could be good. I generally prefer small local places that really put out the local flavor and extra effort and love. But having said that, there’s something to be said about a chain IF…IF they make across the board consistent products no matter which store you walk into. (For example, I feel that Starbucks pulls that off quite well, and will often add a unique regional special for the area) So the store appeared to be very clean and bright and was moderately busy at 9pm. So far good signs! The counter staff appeared to be in the process of taking down some of the displays for closing (not a problem) but when asked cheerfully said they were not closing and staying to dine was just perfect! There was a boatload of various desserts in the tall bakery cases. Of course everything looked good. It was offered by the slice or whole cakes and pies. Staff was super cheerful and welcoming and helpful. When asked, we got a basic rundown of fan favorites and personal favorites and notes about what was enjoyed about each. Soo cool!! So I wanted to try a slice of cake…..and ended up wit the following: Black Forrest cake Blueberry cheesecake Strawberry Creme cake Mango Brûlée cake Okay, so maybe the lines between ONE slice and FOUR slices got….um…..blurry? LOL. Here is a brief rundown of my tasting notes for each.. Black Forrest- a classic chocolate cake with signature shaved chocolate curls on top, chocolate cream layers and cherry filling. This slice was moist, bouncy (a good cake trait) and creamy. Now I would like to say it was “chocolaty”…but it was sadly overpowered by the cherry flavor. Big canned sugar syrup cherry bomb flavor. So it was GOOD, but for me it was not great. And for me it missed the mark compared to what I was hoping for in its namesake. Blueberry cheesecake- Rich, smooth creamy bold mouth feel. Good sweet cheesecake flavor and fresh blueberry flavor. Light crust that bound the flavors and textures well. This was well done! Strawberry Creme- This one was big on “artificial” strawberry flavor, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. At least not to me. Picture if that “Frankenberry” cereal favorite was a cake, and this would be it! Big and bold sweet “fakeberry ” flavor, which I actually really really enjoy! Plain whipped cream layered to separate flavor and color. I really enjoyed this. This and milk, a winning team! Mango Brûlée- Okay, so you had me at “MANGO!” And add brûlée? Yeah! This light and bouncy Creme cake was HUGE on mango flavor! Not sure about Brûlée… because there was no evidence of torching. But still, a five star cake for me! Lusciously bold fresh mango flavor and a texture I would describe as “ribbony” when it comes to the interplay of fruit, cream and cake! This one I rate a “BAZINGA!” Now if you’ve never been to one of these before, standby for what might seem like sticker shock. I soothe this by telling myself that a slice can go a long way, so share the dessert..and the bill! Thank you 85C! You’re just what we needed for that “after 9” sugar rush!

La Creme Wedding Cakes – Menu with Prices – 113 Taborwood Trail, Murfreesboro

My wedding cake experience with La Creme was perfect. I have no complaints at all. Elizabeth was extremely responsive and professional. She worked with me on all my creative input. I sent her pictures and ideas and Elizabeth was able to create something that matched my thoughts and vision. The cake was delicious as well! I am so happy we went with Elizabeth. I spoke with many wedding cake designers before I found the right one. La Creme was the only one that reflected my personal esthetic while staying within my budget. I just wish the night would have lasted longer so I could have eaten more cake!

Crooks Coffee – Menu with Prices – 404c Mendocino Ave, Santa Rosa

Crooks Coffee is a gem. I had a few hours of work to do and visiting an unfamiliar area, I Yelped and stumbled upon this coffee shop! As soon as I entered the coffee shop, I knew I would love the place. I ordered the Creme Brulee Hot Chocolate and Green China Gunpowder Tea. They were both very good. I also ordered a bag of beans. The Creme Brulee Hot Chocolate was the best thing I’ve ever tasted. It was SOOO good! I couldn’t believe my taste buds. I stopped myself from downing my drink. The Green China Gunpowder Tea was very different but it was a very good tea. I loved all the selections of coffees and teas and pastries. And they also have beer and wine! There were so many varieties of options that anyone walking into the shop will definitely find something to their likings. There are boardgames and books galore. It’s a place to come and work like I did or catch up with friends or hang out playing games or read a book.

Mediterrano – Menu with Prices – 336 13th Ave S, Naples

Came in around 6:45PM on a Tuesday night for a party of 5. We made reservations but it wasn’t really necessary. This place was a recommendation from a friend who grew up here. The decor inside suits the beach vibe with shells and turquoise sea foam blue hues. If the weather was cooler, sitting outside with the dangling plants would have been nice too. We did the 3 course for $36 summer fix menu which offers an app, entree and dessert. We shared tzatziki, dolmades and pita bread – the bread was so warm and soft meshing so well with the tzatziki, olive oil, pesto butter and honey balsamic vinegar. I ordered the mahi mahi for entree and baklava for dessert. My teammates ordered meatballs, lamb kebab, and creme brûlée’s. The mahi mahi was on the dry side, slightly overcooked but the veggies that came with it were delicious! I couldn’t finish the fish. The lamb kebabs looked really good – get them cooked medium rare. The baklava was smaller in comparison to the creme brûlée. I thought the baklava was way too sweet. The prices are fairly decent, but I was disappointed in my food choices except for the apps – pita was great. Honestly, I’ll give it another go with maybe the beet salad and the salmon cakes next time. There’s such a big selection, just didn’t hit home for me quite yet.

Vivi Bubble Tea Bellevue Menu with Prices 1336 156th Ave NE, Bellevue

I visited ViVi Bubble Tea, excited to check out the different flavors. There’s a lot to choose from within the menu, from classic milk teas to more fruit teas with neon colors. The staff are happy to make recommendations and make adjustments on sugar and ice levels. Plus, there’s popcorn chicken! The space is located by Chipotle at the Crossroads Shopping Center, which is really nice since we desperately need a bubble tea spot at Crossroads. Since this is walking distance from the mall and other major businesses, I can see myself coming here again. I ordered a large Taro Creme Brulee and the employee mentioned that for this month they have a promotion where if you get a large of any drink you can get 50% any of the fruit teas. With that said, I ordered the Signature Fruit Tea. Of the two, I enjoyed the Taro Creme Brulee! I love taro, so it was really nice that there were actual taro pieces throughout the drink…none of that artificial taro flavor. It was also really creamy, so it’s great for a dessert. I couldn’t finish one in one sitting, so ended up saving some for the next day, which still tasted great. The Signature Fruit Tea was unfortunately, not as enjoyable. Although I ordered it with no sugar, it was sweet enough from the fruit, and you did get an abundance of different fruits. But the flavor just seemed A-OK, slightly bland on the tea side. It wasn’t something I’d crave again, so glad I got it at a discounted price. Not the best for fruit teas here – stick with the others. Glad to have ViVi in Crossroads, accessible to those shopping at the mall or surrounding businesses with a parking lot outside the front. If you visit, get a stamp card, and for you taro fans, check out the taro creme brulee!

Bridgeman’s Chophouse – Menu with Prices – 107 W M.L.K. Blvd, Chattanooga

We went to Bridgeman’s Chophouse for an anniversary dinner, driving in from Atlanta for a weekend visit. Bridgeman’s was listed as one of the best steak houses in the Chattanooga area, so we were excited to try it out. So how did our evening go? We had our reservation set for 7:30 pm, and we were told that we had to wait about 20 more minutes because the guests at the table reserved for us were still eating. oooookay….we took the time to explore the Read house hotel, which I do recommend exploring a bit of, even if you don’t have a room here. It IS quite lovely and it houses Bridgeman’s Chophouse. Staff did come get us to let us know that our table was ready, and we were promptly seated. Here’s the thing….while we were seated, we sat there for more than 10 minutes before anyone so much as offered us a glass of water. At one point we decided maybe we should go, but finally we were served. Here’s what we ordered: Pistachio & Herb crusted center cut back of lamb ($42) Prime dry aged NY Ribeye ($70) Roasted Brussels ($8) Chocolate cake ($9.95) Creme brulee ($9.95) First off, the presentation of all of the dishes tonight were great. I’d never had lamb chops (or lamb for that matter), so the look of the vibrant green crusted chops were almost too pretty to eat. I took a little bite of it (and it was very moist, flavorful and filling!) but the steak was my dinner. Chops are highly recommended! The prime dry aged NY ribeye is dry aged for 45-60 days, and is a decent sized piece of meat (roughly 20 oz). This had a nice sear but it was sadly somewhat chewy (cooked medium rare), which wasn’t what I was expecting. It also had more than a few BIG hunks of fat in the meat, which made it more oily than I would have liked. My girlfriend enjoyed the steak more than I did, but we both thought that lamb chops were a better meal all around. Roasted Brussels is the side we ordered, and these came with little strips of bacon. Management actually came over and inquired specifically about the brussels, saying they’re looking to change up their menu and were trying this out. We did mention that some of the bacon pieces were soft and others crispy, lacking any real consistency, although flavor was there. If there was a desserts menu, I never saw it. Instead, desserts were described by the server. We got the chocolate cake and the creme brulee. Fun fact, i’ve never had creme brulee, but it almost had a velvety creamy texture once you cracked through the hard surface. Delicious! The chocolate cake was pretty rich, and was also a great end to the meal, though I do wish it were a little bigger. Presentation of both of these were top notch. Located off of W Mlk Blvd, the restaurant offers valet service that needs to be validated by staff at Bridgeman’s. You can (and should) call ahead before you’re about to leave to give the guys time to go get your car. We didn’t and stood waiting for about 10 minutes…fortunately it was a warm summer evening, making the wait pleasant. There’s street parking up and down the road also (if you find it available), which may be worth it to you. Bridgeman’s had more hits than misses for us in the food department. Presentation on everything were all great, and the flavor on much of the food were worth the experience. The problem, and ultimately what knocks down my review score is their service was very slow, and we were all but ignored for about 10 minutes after being seated. That and the steak was oily/chewy and the bacon in the brussels were sometimes crispy and sometimes soft/chewy. If I lived in or near Chattanooga, i’d likely come back at some point just to give these guys another chance to earn a star or two back, but I honestly can’t say that i’d take another drive from Atlanta just for the steak.

Prossima Prosecco / Prossimo Ristorante – Menu with Prices – 1550 E 15th St, Tulsa

We went on our anniversary–Impeccable service that was genuine and responsive without a big rush between courses. we ordered several appitizers and an entree to try different things. Mozzarella that was made tableside. It was good and a great experience (some feedback- I would say have an option to add something to the mozzarella like rosemary or garlic–it was good just a little plain). I would prefer it to come in more pieces (than two) that are bite sized (easier to eat gracefully). We also got calamari that was delicious and lightly breaded–sauces delightful and tangy. Our final appitizer was the polenta and meatballs which was out of this world. I am definitely ordering it every time!. . The finale was the fettuccini alfredo was the best pasta dish I have ever tasted. Homeade noodles had me dreaming of the next time. The expereince of tableside was a nice touch! I loved the flavor of the sauce which was made in a parmesan wheel and parmesan, butter, and salt. DELICIOUS!!!!!. . To cap off the night, we were given a menu with the staffs signatures. This was a great way to capture the memory. NICE TOUCH!! . . I wanted dessert but I am more of a cake/ganache person. I would recommend adding a chocolate mousse, cake, etc… something more chocolate forward. brulee and chocolate strawberries did not sound appetizing. Brulee is so creamy and I had just eaten so much dairy… . . Overall a great experience! We will definitely come back! . . A wish I have is to-go dishes from a simplified menu–Pastas and appetizers only maybe? Ability to input order online and pick up on the way home. (small children doesnt always equal eating out–but I still want access to great food).

How Sweet It Is Cake Studio – Menu with Prices – 6002 Veterans Pkwy Suite B, Columbus

I ordered two cakes back to back, one for my baby shower and another for my sonâ??s birthday party. Both cakes were exceptionally delicious. The baby shower cake was a coconut cake and it was so decadent, I would definitely recommend this flavor for any coconut lover! The birthday cake was themed after The Good Dinosaur movie and Chari and her family recreated a Good Dinosaur cake beautifully. I had a very positive experience working with the family to create the cakes that I envisioned; all of our communication was done through FB messenger and they always responded as quickly as they could, even given the fact that they had a family emergency during this time. They delivered two amazing cakes and I definitely recommend to anyone that wants to impress their guest with a decadent cake that looks just as good as it taste!

The Best Little Cake House – Menu with Prices – 3280 Suntree Blvd Unit 105, Melbourne

Candice, Shannon and assistant Brooklynn were a delight to work with! They blew our minds, from the first tasting, and continued to deliver with the grooms cake and wedding cake we received this past weekend! Both cakes looked and tasted absolutely amazing, we got so many compliments on them, and couldnâ??t be happier that we got to work with such an awesome team! We highly recommend The Best Little Cake Houseâ??s moist, delicious creations and cannot wait for the next occasion that brings us back to their kitchen!
