Confession time here. I have a food weakness, an Achilles Heel of the appetite. Though I love sushi and country cooking and a number of other edibles, I cannot pass up anything with sugar in it. Cane sugar, brown sugar, confectioners sugar, I’m not picky. I have a sweet tooth like no other. So when I finally made a visit here, I knew I had come to the right place. Now part of the reason I have often passed it by is because it isn’t on a main road. But listen, go one block off Wrightsboro and there it is. I just love it being in a old firehouse. Renovation history, any way possible. I walked in with nothing but my appetite and a smile. And then… I knew they did cookies and cakes, but I had no idea about the casseroles. I peered through the glass like a kid in a candy store. Lemon bars, peanut butter cookies, cinnamon rolls, coconut cake. What was I supposed to do? Get a little bit of everything of course. Though I didn’t stay to eat my box of goodies, I looked around and saw they have picnic tables to sit at (there is plenty of room inside). Also, the answer to a very important question is yes they have milk available for purchase (regular, skim, whole, and chocolate). The team was helpful in explaining some of the cookies (i.e. Oatmeal Scotchie=real butter, dark brown sugar, oatmeal, pecans, butterscotch bits). I was blown away by the flavor, texture, and aroma of everything I ate. Treat yourself and go there as soon as you can.

Crumbles Cookies – Menu with Prices – 1191 Magnolia Ave Suite C, Corona

This place honestly has the best cookies around, 100%. The cookies are all baked fresh every day and they even have “day old” cookies on sale for cheaper (which are still good). The cookies are on the pricier side, but they’re definitely worth it. Pretty much every cookie I’ve had has been just a great flavor and texture with just the right amount of sweetness. And the cookies are relatively large. They do switch up a couple options on the menu, so while they definitely have their main staples, they do have some seasonal items that aren’t around forever. I’ve had a Lavender Oatmeal cookie from them that I loved but haven’t seen since. Pretty much every cookie is great, although I will say I appreciate all the different oatmeal cookie options without raisins. I can confidently say I do love oatmeal cookies now. Everyone who works here is also just as sweet as their baked goods. You’ll always get good customer service coming here. I would for sure recommend coming here for your cookie needs.

Kitchen Sink Bakery – Menu with Prices – 129 S 27th St, Lincoln

Kitchen Sink Cookie Company, I’m pretty convinced, will be the ones to set a cookie revolution in motion. The type of revolution that has happened with the cupcake. These cookies are not your average cookies. These are traditional flavors given a creative and innovate twist. With cookie flavors like “Coffee and Donuts” (tasting just like their namesake), “Beam Me Up Scotchy!” (oatmeal butterscotch cookies topped with peanut butter buttercream, salted caramel and 3 pretzel twists), “The Dubliner” (made with Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout, irish cream buttercream, and malt crumbs), and giving Little Debbie a run for her money with “Oatmeal Pie” (spiced oatmeal cookies sandwiched with salted butter cream), you really just gotta try these to understand their amazingness. It’s seriously hard for me to decide which has been my favorite flavor. Those flavors up there are just a small sampling of what they are churning out, so check their facebook page often to find out what’s in the oven, https://www.facebook.com/kitchensinkcookies . They often frequent the farmer’s markets in town, and sell the cookies regularly at The Pilgrimer downtown. Last but not least, you can get ice cream cookie sandwiches at Ivanna Cone made with Kitchen Sink Cookies…I mean, how can a dessert get much better than that?! I know they do have some regular cookie pick up hours at their kitchen address as well. Follow them on facebook to keep up with all those deets. I don’t even know how to say how much I love these cookies. They are unique and creative but still have a touch of familiarity. Just do yourself a favor and get out there and try these cookies. You’ll be back at The Kitchen Sink for more as soon as you take one bite.

Gold’n Fresh Bakery – Menu with Prices – 3430 Tully Rd #17, Modesto

I have never seen so much ube in one place before. Pan de Ube. Ube pastries. Ube biscuits. In other words, if you love ube, you should be coming here. I read all the raves about the pork buns. And while my mom loves them, they didn’t win me over. The cookies did. The peanut butter cookies have peanut butter chips in them that melt in your mouth. The oatmeal raisin cookies are chewy & have the right amount of spice. The snickerdoodles are crisp on the outside, & softer in the center, w just the right amounts of cinnamon & sugar. The white chocolate macadamia were golden & sweeter from the white chocolate, but still balanced. All the cookies tasted homemade. Like your mom baked them for you. But the macaroons w chocolate ganache blew me away. Worth getting melted chocolate ganache ALL over your fingers, scrambling for napkins in your car, then licking them clean. Yeah. That was me. I can see how another yelper was dissatisfied w the blueberry ensaymadas. I liked them, but there were parts that were very bready; the blueberry wasn’t evenly distributed. I don’t know if that’s the fault of the bakery, or just what naturally occurs in bread that’s been shaped this way. Not all bread is easy to control or manipulate. I’m also a complete novice when it comes to Filipino & Spanish breads. So, I don’t hold this against them. What I liked about the ensaymadas, as well as the pan de ube, is that the sweetness in both doesn’t overwhelm. The bread mitigates the richness & the sweetness of the blueberry & the ube that’s strewn in. Still, they both were like having a treat. This is what your morning coffee wants you to pair w it. This is a small family bakery doing great things. Simple & straightforward. All the packaged items have their ingredients labeled on the bag. They deserve props. And your business. 5 stars.

The Girls Who Bake Next Door – Menu with Prices – 210 Iolani Ave #1, Honolulu

I know The Girls Who Bake Next Door have a food truck–and you can follow their schedule on Instagram–but I actually went to their store front. I was craving chocolate chip cookies, and since I passed by the store once before and knew where the Girls were, I dropped by one Friday morning. I didn’t check Instagram beforehand, so I was fortunate during my visit that they had their traditional chocolate chip cookies. If you’re looking for a specific flavor, be sure to check IG: they have a list of their flavors for the day. Anyway, since I was the only customer there, I could sort of take my time ordering. I didn’t want to take too long, though, because the team was busy preparing for a special order/event and it looked like they were busy. The entire store smelled so good! I bought four cookies (and ate them all the same day), but being in the store made me want to buy everything I saw! The cookie deal was a good one, though – four cookies for $5. Definitely would return and recommend them to others. I also would visit their food truck if they were close to me one day. Here’s what I got: “Chocolate Chip”: There’s nothing better than a warm, comforting chewy cookie that’s loaded with chocolate chips. I love how this cookie was thin and small, but it wasn’t crispy and overly crunchy. It also contained a good amount of chocolate chips. “Chocolate Chip Mac Nut”: Surprisingly, this ended up being my favorite of all the cookies I got … and it was surprising because I usually don’t go for the cookies with nuts. I tend to be simple when it comes to cookies. But I loved the texture and flavor this cookie brought. The mac nuts balanced the sweeter chocolate chips perfectly. The mac nuts also added some welcome crunch and texture without being overwhelming. “Oatmeal Coconut Chocolate Chip”: This was the only cookie that made it home for my family to try, but they liked the different flavors. The oatmeal cookie texture made this cookie a little grittier, and it didn’t taste as sweet as the others because it had coconut as well as chocolate. “Chocolate and Peanut Butter Chip”: I was interested to see how the blend between peanut butter and chocolate would work out. The peanut butter flavor wasn’t as intense/strong as I had hoped, but this cookie was still delicious. It was still nice to get a hint of peanut butter in there. “Peanut Butter Toffee”: This cookie wasn’t available during my particular visit, but I do want to try it one day because I love toffee. It’ll be interesting to see how it melds with the peanut butter, but I cannot wait to try it.

Donna’s Gourmet Cookies – Menu with Prices – 10796 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati

You know how you sometimes have a great, 5-star experience with a business but then you (unfortunately) have to come back and downgrade your previous rave review due to a disappointing experience[s]? And how it’s the principle of the matter, you just can’t have your now-inaccurate perfect score undermining your integrity (or credibility) to other consumers? None of the above is why I’m refreshing my 5-star review for Donna’s. I LOVE DONNA’S GOURMET COOKIES, so far they are my favorite cookies that I have had in my life and one of my favorite desserts/cheat treats. Nothing makes me act like a giddy sugar-cracked-out preschooler like a box of Donna’s huge, soft, buttery “cats-head” cookies, loaded with chocolate chips or crackled with sugary-cinnamon snickerdoodle goodness. I love many kinds of cookies, they are truly my favorite dessert (with cinnamon rolls and brownies-without-nuts coming in CLOSE 2nd place). Homemade cookies, Great American cookie cake, Busken tea cookies, Panera Cookies, Chick-Fil-A Cookies, the marshmallow cornflake cookie from Maplewood (!) – I love them! But Donna’s has my heart. My new favorites are Donna’s fancy decorated sugar cutout cookies with royal icing. These specialty cookies are SO beautiful, exquisitely detailed, THEY ACTUALLY TASTE DELICIOUS (you know what I mean, beautifully decorated pastry usually tastes awful!). And, they are affordable! I have ordered these cookies for Christmas, NYE and now Mardi Gras (and omg the Valentine’s Day Cookies that I saw today were soooo cute!). I cannot wait to have a reason to order some specialty cookies for one of my kid’s athletic events.

Abigail’s Confections – Menu with Prices – 236 E Wayne St, Fort Wayne

I was surprised I hadn’t heard of this bakery before! They have pies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, and more. I came for cupcakes but they didn’t have any; left with a sugar cream pie instead and I’m not mad about it. It’s phenomenal. I also tried their pumpkin cheesecake, which they make from scratch. I ordered one immediately. She’s now taking Thanksgiving pie orders so stop in and order yours, too. There’s also plenty of space and tables for you to sit and enjoy your treats right in the shop, if you choose to do so.

Big Bon Bodega – Menu with Prices – 2011 Bull St, Savannah

BEST BAGELS! I seriously make it a goal to try bagel places everywhere I go. I was slightly disappointed in the lack of bagel places in Savannah until I tried Big Bon Bodega. First of all, the atmosphere is so cute. The wood fired oven is visible, so I’m sure you’d be able to see them being made if you’re early enough. There are so many windows, so the inside is practically all natural lighting, making it seem very open. There isn’t much seating inside, but there are plenty of picnic tables outside, both in the sun and under shade trees. I ordered the 912 bagel, which is bacon, fried egg, cheddar, and herb butter on your choice of bagel. I chose the everything bagel for it, but I’m sure any flavor is just as great! The bagel itself is is flavorful and the perfect texture. The outside is slightly crisp with a denser fluffy inside. The herb butter also added so much flavor and the bacon was crispy! It was a perfect proportion of bagel to fillings. Many of the girls I was with got The Donna bagel ( slice turkey, watercress, avocado, bacon, and roasted garlic asiago mayo) and raved about it. I also ordered their Yum Yum Twist, which is the bagel dough with sprinkles inside and sprinkled with spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, and sugar. They heated this up for me and it was amazing. It was only slightly sweet, but the dough alone is so delicious. This is not a bagel place with endless option of bagel and cream cheese flavors. It is simpler with a limited menu, but it works. The bagels are just so good that I don’t see a need for them to expand the menu much. I really think this may be the best bagel I’ve ever had. I wish I bought a dozen to take home with me. We even wanted to go the next morning, but it was Sunday and they are closed.

Insomnia Cookies – Menu with Prices – 116 E University Dr Suite 104, Tempe

Stopped around 11:30 pm on Wednesday and people were still coming and going. The inside is quite small so the line was kinda out the door. The menu is easy to read and they have prices and all the different cookie selections posted. They also sell ice cream sandwiches! My friend ended up getting the combo which included two cookies and a milk for about $6. I wanted a sugar cookie but unfortunately they didn’t have any… So I ended up getting an oatmeal raisin. The oatmeal raisin was dry and a little on the harder side… I felt like I was eating a cookie from frys.. They were unfortunately out of a lot of cookies on this night so the selection was limited.. I looked at the ice cream selection they had and I literally LOLed when I saw what kind of vanilla ice cream they had… Umm is that the party ice cream tubs you can buy at the grocery store?…. The employees were friendly but umm not sure if they take their job serious.. the inside is dark and feels sketchy. The floor had dried up sticky ice cream all over.. and so did the table.. I definitely would pass on this. There are so many cookie shops popping up that are 10000x better then this…

The Sugar Cookie – Menu with Prices – 10960 S Eastern Ave ste 109, Henderson

Amazing place for sugar cookies. The quality of the cookies are simply superb and the variety too.I really love all the chocolate cookies , specially the double chocolate. The coconut , lemon and original cookie are also fantastic.Maybe the one I don’t care the most is the red velvet cake. They have samples of all their cookies so making choices would be easy.Service is top notch and location has plenty of space and parking around.Totally recommended if you have a sweet tooth and you’re looking for quality cookies.

Hot Box Cookies – Menu with Prices – 1013 E Broadway, Columbia

The cookies are pretty good. The service is very slow as there is always ONE person trying to do three jobs. The poor young lady working every time I go into the store is taking orders from a line of customers, then has to pack the order, answer the phone and tell the person on the phone that the manager is not available and that she canâ??t answer that question. We waited for ten minutes to have our order taken and another ten minutes just to get our cookies. What? The cookies are ready in the oven! Oh, not only do we wait for 20 minutes, we are notified that the cookies we want are sold out and we have to make another choice as the young lady canâ??t bake the cookies because she has to take orders, pack and answer the phone! This is seriously bad service and working a staff member in an unsafe environment. Leaving a teen alone in a store is very unsafe. Where is the manager? Is there a manager? No delivery drivers on site? The establishment was dirty as well, front and back because why…. there is only ONE person working!!

Mezona Market – Menu with Prices – 21 W Main St, Mesa

This place used to be called “sweet cakes cafe” and they had delicious cookies and food. My kids loved going to the kitchen sink bars and sugar cookies and I loved the cinnamon buns. They were warm and fresh and fabulous. We moved too far away to visit frequently but stopped by when we were close recently. I almost didn’t even know it was the same place…thought we walked into the wrong store. We didn’t check out any merchandise-after all we were there for the cookies, lol. I was so disappointed in the cookies now. They have 1/2 what they used to and the flavor is not what it used to be. They no longer taste fresh or any different than any other cookie you can get from a sandwich shop-and the sugar cookie actually tasted stale. I’m so sad about this-I was really looking forward to visiting. So, if you’re going for the cookies, know that they aren’t what they used to be-not even close but if you’re going to specialty clothing/hats etc then it might still be up your alley.

Santos Coffee US Menu with Prices 2024 3rd Ave N, Birmingham

From the street, the space looks so charming and very “European,” and when I saw them advertising their crepes I knew I wanted to give it a try. But when I got inside I realized that this is more of a coffee stand than a coffee shop. There’s practically no seating at all. It’s really just a place to pop in to grab a cup of joe and go. I didn’t order a crepe (wish I had), because I saw they had “donut waffles” on the menu. How can you pass up a donut waffle?!?! I ordered one and was asked if I wanted it sprinkled with cinnamon sugar or served with a fruit drizzle. I was afraid it would be too sweet, so I ordered it plain. I also ordered a large latte. The donut waffle was not impressive. They literally took a donut out of a box in the refrigerator and stuck it in a waffle iron to heat. And even though I didn’t order it sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, it was sprinkled with powdered sugar AND cinnamon sugar. Funny thing, though: when I went to eat it, it still wasn’t sweet. It was a little bitter and just not good at all. The latte fared much better. It was exactly what I expected.
