Love this black owned cafe tucked away on Pennsylvania Avenue! Staff is kind food is GREAT and healthy! Was the only spot I was able to find in the area that had healthy food while I was on my alkaline journey .. they have herbal teas which I LOVE! And sweet treats! Loved that some kids came in to do homework in a quiet but friendly environment I was able to do some work as well! Came on a Thursday night and got yet another treat of spoken word/rap! Good vibes all around! Hope this cafe is here to stay!

Fairfax Community Church – Menu with Prices – 11451 Braddock Rd, Fairfax

I really wish I had found out about this place sooner, especially while I was a student. This little coffee shop is the ideal spot to do homework, catch up with a girlfriend before work, or just read a book. The environment is so relaxing! I personally could never focus at Starbucks for homework…but I could see myself here! They have tables like a library but also little couches and cute decor. It’s such a perfect nook. I ordered their cappuccino with soy milk, the perfect frothy heaven drink! I’m huge on froth. My friend got the green tea. It’s also very affordable!! Two drinks were $5! Imagine that! I saw a bunch of cool drinks available with cool flavors like frozen cappuccinos and smoothies. I also got a jalapeño cheese bagel and man was it filling! They have toasters and serve yourself jelly and coffee condiments. It’s nice they cover the basics of offering coffee, tea, and food but also go the extra mile with baked goods and sandwiches. I love the variety they offer while being an authentically warm and quiet place. Worth stopping by!!

Twisterz Frozen Dessert – Menu with Prices – 1229 E McKellips Rd #108, Mesa

We love love love this place. Their topping bar is always fresh & full of creative toppings from the healthy (fresh fruit & nuts) to the indulgent (cheese cake bites & crushed up Snicker) & kid friendly (gummy frogs & Fruity Pebbles). They rotate out flavors fairly frequently & offer vegan & no added sugar options. This means I can treat the kids & still treat myself without breaking my own food rules. They are also always offering specials, have a reward program, AND have a kids deal on Monday which this Mama loves. If all of that wasn’t enough the people working there are so sweet & kind.

Outpost Performance Space Menu with Prices 210 Yale Blvd SE, Albuquerque

Dig these cats for sowing seed in the rebirth of Cool. Hot Damn this barn fer pickin’ the best bluegrass. Hear the Word spoken here, the Spoken Word. Around here, the kids grow up and they don’t go Pop. Open your ears to the pittah pat of some timbering tabla. The Outpost consistently brings the most engaging, dynamic and outright under-appreciated sounds to their modest stage, and a lot of the acts are truly world-class. I really like Steve P’s review, he nails virtually everything about the place: community oriented, a wealth of musical styles, kids educational classes… yeah, he covers everything including a reverence for Tom, quite possibly ABQ’s true guru. I’ll add one more thing: I don’t come here very often. There aren’t any bells or whistles, no excuses to spend money on cheap beer or lounge with my crew. Honestly, besides the music, nothing’s really happening around here. And that’s the beauty of it. Come here for soulful services. Come here to pay reverence to the world of sound, to the language it speaks and the universal tongue that unites this species. Every show is unique, memorable and true. Thanks again, Tom.

MKEing Coffee | Sharehouse Cafe – Menu with Prices – 5507 W North Ave, Milwaukee

I’ve been on the hunt for a new “Third Space” to retreat to when I’m in need of a quiet work space. Sharehouse came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Peaceful environment and music. They have a small but well executed menu. Kids toys in the window areas and some bargain books and dvds as well. I got a cappuccino with almond milk. They have both soy and almond so very friendly for vegans. They don’t have “for here” mugs which bums out the low waste part of me, but everything else was excellent. This will definitely become my new work space away from home.

Caffè Nero – Porter Square – Menu with Prices – 1868 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge

So happy that there is finally an alternative to the Bourbon Cafe across the street in the Lesley University complex. I love the Bourbon Cafe, but it closes at the ridiculously early time of 8pm every night. Caffe Nero closes at 9…not a huge improvement, but I’ll take it. Wish somebody would open a late night or all-night cafe in this neighborhood…I would actually be happy to pay a cover charge for that! There’s the Panera Bread near Dunkin Donuts which closes at 10, but it’s a rather sterile/generic environment. Oh lawdy, when oh when will civilization ever come to ever-sleepy, yet ever-more-expensive, Camberville???

Al Quadrato Resto and Pizza – Menu with Prices – 324 Somerset St W, Ottawa

We came here during lunch on a weekday. The restaurant/cafe is located in centretown. It has euro-cafe vibes which I like. They serve beer, wine, coffee. I had the prosciutto pizza with anchovies. I have to say the pizza was delicious. We shared one pizza between two people and it was enough for lunch. I could probably eat most of it myself for dinner though. The pizza was light yet still satisfying. I really liked the crust. The service was very friendly, and warm. It was also pretty fast! The pizza was made right in front of us which is cool. The cafe is a bit small but I think they have a patio in the summer (they did last year anyway). Overall I will be retuning here because it’s good vibes and good food.

Sciuri Cafe and Pizzeria – Menu with Prices – 541 Jefferson Ave, Miami Beach

Neighborhood Sicilian gem. This place is conveniently tucked just off the main road (5th Street) connecting to the southern end of miami beach. They’re only about 1.5 years old, but I sure hope they’re here to stay much longer! Sciuri Cafe is an authentic Sicilian cafe/bakery. Serendipitously, my friend and I even ran into our favorite gelato-making Sicilian couple and turns out they frequent this place! We tried the cannolis ($2), cassata cake ($6), and cappuccinos ($3.50). The cannolis were mini with one end finished with candied orange and the other chocolate chips- they were the perfect post-dinner dessert. Cassata cake is another traditional Sicilian sweet I’d heard about, but hadn’t gotten the change to try until now. It’s amazing! The cake was very light and had a nice balance of flavors. The cappuccinos had more milk than expected (more like a latte), but paired well with the sweets. For relaxing European cafe vibes and authentic Sicilian sweets, this is a wonderful spot. Hope to be back to try their pizza and other sweets soon!

Yellow Derny Café – Menu with Prices – 433 St Mary’s Rd, Winnipeg

I think that the Yellow Derny Cafe is the best place to go to in winter and summer! There is a variety of different drinks and I LOVE the dessert and dainties on the weekends! I love to go there when I have the time because of the amazing, kind, social, employees. I have even talked to them about what I was doing in school, and what my favourite drinks are! I love the hot chocolates and mocha frappes! They are delicious! They view is amazing too! I look out the window and see Guay Park across the street. I also sometimes use my charging cords and do homework while I sit, eat, drink, look at the view and enjoy the best cafe I have ever been to!

Brown Cup Cafe & Lounge – Menu with Prices – 401 N Coast Hwy ste e, Oceanside

The Brown Cup Cafe & Lounge has been one our favorite go-to cafés in Oceanside for the past year. Ever since we discovered this quaint gem of a lounge, my fiancée and I tend to gravitate here almost every morning. Located right on the 101, Brown Cup is run by a very friendly and humble staff. You’re greeted as you enter and service is always attentive. Their menu may seem limited compared to other spots, but they specialize in their items and whether it’s a pastry or beverage, they put plenty of love & care into each. They’ve got CBD teas, gluten-free pastries, plenty of coffee and some cold drinks as well. The decor is very new-age, Indonesian-inspired and has plenty of space for the solo patron or small groups who just want to relax and socialize. From the couches up front, to the work benches in the back, there’s ample room to sit down and do work from your laptop in a quiet environment. It’s always clean inside and the atmosphere is very peaceful and I highly recommend coming here to do work.

Dolce Café Menu with Prices 2650 N Military Trl Suite 145, Boca Raton

I can’t believe so few people know or talk of this place. Its the cutest cafe I’ve been to in a while, maybe ever. The feel is great especially for a mid-day break from work chaos. There are very few healthy and delicious or memorable food options in the surrounding area that are walkable from here so I can understand why the place seems to stay busy even just by word of mouth alone but its really refreshing to have a quick, easy option for this caliber of meal available around here and I wish I had found it sooner. I loved my salad which I ordered as I had already had a snack and went with a friend mainly to accompany her but I plan to be back very soon to try one of the sandwiches which looked mouth-wateringly delicious. I just wish I had brought more of an appetite today so I could try more as it all looked and smelled phenomenal. The deli-meats and cheeses are about as fresh as they come and look to be of very high quality, none of that fast food prepackaged non-sense I sometimes get stuck eating around here when i’m in a hurry to get back to work, and the pricing was great especially for Boca. All around great experience!

Taco Riendo – Menu with Prices – 5324 Williamson Rd, Roanoke

let me tell you…I absolute LOVE this place….they are only open Thursday-Sunday and I eat there at least twice a week!! The chicken gorditas are THE BEST!!! The tacos ARE THE BEST!! The folks that work there are so nice and friendly, and the owner whom name I think is Felix…is the best!! So friendly and always makes sure your good is correct and that you are enjoying it! I have tried to duplicate the little gordita pockets that they hand make…but I can’t…so I will wait all week until Thursday…and go get them!! This place is such a gem!!! Also they have a little grocery store next door and beside that they have a truck that they serve all kinds of sweet treats!!! I love this place!!!

T4. Tea 4 U – Menu with Prices – 5120 Auburn Blvd, Sacramento

I look forward to getting to know this place better. It’s nearby and a nice treat for a night owl. I wished there had been comfier seating when I went in, but maybe this is smart on their part. If it was comfier, the customers might never leave. It is clearly a major hub for local tweens and teens, being a well lit, cute place with friendly staff open late. This seems to mean that the end of the night rush is not the right time for quiet contemplation over your sugary beverage. Speaking of the sugar, I wish that the menu was a little more detailed for diners with diabetes. If I’m bringing diabetic friends, it would be cool if some of the drinks had carb counts–or even Stevia! My date had serious FOMO about the idea of ordering a less-sweet beverage. Oh, and word to the wise–the kitchen will stop cooking food before closing, so if you are jonesing for some sweet potato fries, go before 9 or call ahead.
