We first tried pupusas in LA a few months ago, and since then we’ve been looking for pupusas around Seattle. This food truck came up in my search, so I came to get some for lunch. At $3 per pupusa, I thought it was a little bit pricey. I ordered one pork+cheese, one pork+beans+cheese, and one loroco+cheese. Had a wait about 10 mins, which I thought was a bit long… But when I drove back and started eating, I was pleasantly surprised! The pupusas were still piping hot after ~20 mins of driving. All three were delicious! When we have another pupusa craving, we will definitely be back!

Pupuseria Del Valle – Menu with Prices – 431 S Victory Blvd, Burbank

Yummo! I love pupusas. They are a staple of my culture. Salvadorean’s gotta have their pupusas. A pupusa can be a symphony in your mouth or a hard rock band. It depends on the masa to filling ration. It is not an exact science, but you want to feel like you are eating more filling that masa! Pupuseria del Valle gets it right. I ordered two pupusas to go. I called ahead and the person on the other end was very cordial and took my order with ease. I picked up my order and had some of sides that compliment the pupusa, they are the pickled cabbage and red sauce. You must have that on your pupusa. I got home and noticed the packaging of my food. It was done carefully so as to keep my food as hot as possible until eaten. Kudos! The pupusas were excellent. Well made and most importantly not greasy at all. You can ruin a pupusa so fast with excess grease. I ordered revuelta pupusas which consist of beans, cheese, and pork. My biggest complaint is the price! $3 for one pupusa seems excessive, but I have to take into account the area in which the restaurant is in. They have to pay rent. I am glad I stop by. I was guided by my fellow yelpers.

El Pulgarcito Pupuseria – Menu with Prices – 1738 W Chapman Ave, Orange

Love love love this place. Pupusas are my guilty pleasure and I don’t really get to find places that do it so well. El Pulgarcito may seem unassuming from the outside, but the food they serve is delicious. El Pulgarcito has a large parking lot with plenty of spots and once you go inside the building, they have plenty of seating as well. Super welcoming and kind people that run this restaurant. They were very patient with us and I always love family-run businesses like El Pulgarcito. My friend and I were stuffed by the end and our tummies were full of delicious food. We ordered: [Drinks]: Horchata salvadorena: A lot nuttier in taste then your typical horchata. We really liked it and thought it wasn’t overwhelmingly cinnamon-y. We ordered a large and the huge size of the cup can easily be split between two people; Tamarindo: Love the sour taste and is a favorite of mine to cut through the savory goodness of pupusas. [Pupusas]: We tried their pupusa de chorizo con queso, de revuelta, de chicharron con queso, and de clabaza con queso. My favorite was the pupusa de revuelta (I guess I’m basic like that). But the pupusa de calabaza con queso was also really good. For me, I was already full eating two pupusas once you add in their delicious curtido and salsa on top. If anything, always get them filled with queso (CHEESE!). [Tamales]: These were alright. A lot bigger than the ones I have had before. I did find them to be little on the gelatinous and greasy side. Tamales de gallina was more dry than the tamales de puerco. [Dessert]: We ordered the empanadas de platano. I was expecting more of a fried banana bread/fritter. It’s very dense and hot when you first get them. The inside is filled with a jelly-like sweet leche filling. Overall: I would come here again and again just to eat their pupusas. Hands down my favorite pupuseria in the area. The pupusas are filled nicely and not just all dough. Very nice servers too!

La Flor De Michoacan Mexican Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2339 Northgate Blvd, Sacramento

This was my first ever pupusa experience. I didn’t even know what a pupusa was, but a friend told me this place made the best she’d had in this area, better than what our local Woodland and Davis places had to offer. If you’re a newb like me, a pupusa is basically like a fried, squashed tamale. I’m sure I’m oversimplifying it. You eat it with salsa and a cabbage slaw that tastes like watered-down salsa (vinegar and tomato flavor basically). It’s delicious!! Each pupusa varied in size, which spoke to its authenticity and handmade origins. The corn dough was thick and encased meat and cheese (they have veggie options too!). Apparently there is a pupusa version they create made with rice flour, which I look forward to trying on my next visit. It was hard to taste the difference between the chorizo, pork and beans, and chicken, because I mainly appreciated fried, flavored goodness, but I’m not complaining. It was such a fun experience! Plus, each pupusa was only $3.75 max. Totally affordable and I could easily get full on just two. We also got a side of rice and beans. The rice wasn’t the standard orange rice that I’m used to, and I loved that! It was more of a white/yellow color, perfectly seasoned but not overbearing. The beans were smooth and flavorful, like you’d expect from a restaurant as opposed to opening a can at home. The restaurant definitely has its own flair when it comes to style. It felt like a family-owned, authentic and unashamed eatery, the kind I’d choose over a chain any day. Located in a shopping plaza, there’s plenty of parking. It was my first time in this area and it seemed somewhat rundown, but I felt safe with my friend and children during the day. Definitely call your order in ahead of time, as my friend told me it takes awhile for the pupusas to be made. It took us 45 minutes to get to the restaurant after calling in our orders, and our pupusas were piping hot. The older lady who gave us our order commented on my chunky baby and was very pleasant and sweet. They have high chairs, a TV that was showing a soccer game, and a bathroom. It’s a kid-friendly place with a very casual dining feel and excellent pupusas!

Cuzcatlan Restaurant Menu with Prices 1330 S Magnolia Ave, Anaheim

Pupusas here were really yummy and filling. We ordered the 3 pupusa and drink combo- tried the cheese and beans, cheese and spinach, and cheese with squash and they were all delicious. The sizes of them are larger than the average. I believe two with a sufficient amount of the pickled cabbage is efficient to quench a hungry person’s appetite. Unfortunately they don’t serve tamales until the nighttime which I intended on getting. I ended up having to change my review because upon paying for the lunch she ended up adding fees to the combo.. apparently the vegetarian combo is $.50 extra for EACH pupusa and then the price for the plantains plate went from $5.50 to $6.99 which was misleading because both signs had different prices… I feel like she hustled us by having us pay after our meal rather than before. $40 meal for two people was a bit much for the amount of food we got.. I won’t be going back here.

Don Alberto’s Charcoal Chicken 2 – Menu with Prices – 10621 Courthouse Rd, Fredericksburg

Well….Where do I begin. It all started on a cold November day, I was in town to visit family for the turkey holiday and found myself in a small town called Fredericksburg. I was starving and craving some Peruvian style chicken when I came across Don Alberto’s. I went in and first the adorable decoration caught my eye. Adorable mom and pop type of place. Made me feel like i was visiting grandma. Next I was greeted by the cutest lady at the counter. Flawlessly beautiful with her salt and pepper hair and excellent skin, I bet she moisturizes. I asked her what she recommended outside of the Peruvian chicken that I was already getting and she pointed to the pupusas. Now I had never had a pupusa so i tried it. Wow amazing. Thing pork quesadilla and cheese Gordita have a baby and that’s what the “Revuelta pupusa” was like. Phenomenal. I’m pretty sure I went blind and blacked out for at least 2 whole minutes while in food coma. The Peruvian chicken was also decadent. Rich rotisserie spices with a hint of cinnamon. My only explanation for this explosion of flavor in my mouth was that it was probably created by angels and babies dreams because I was in heaven. Finally the plantains and the yuca fries were amazing. Be sure to dip the fries in that secret sauce (I’m pretty sure it’s made of children’s hopes and dreams) Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Decor: 5 Stars Overall: 5 Stars

Los Cabos the Pupusa House#1 Menu with Prices 700 E California Ave, Bakersfield

When I was first introduced to pupusas by a coworker, it was at this Los Cabos. It’s a shame that I lived life so long without ever having tried them, but there’s no sense in living in the past because now we have one another and that is all that matters. I’m happy to hear that this place is as authentic as their pupusas are delicious, as it encourages me to venture out on the menu and try other things. (When I do so, I will update this review). For now, all I have to rave about is the pupusas. After craving them for a week, I finally stopped in today and picked up two bean and cheese pupusas before heading back to work during lunch break. I would have taken a picture, but the senses overtook me and they were quickly devoured. I would recommend Los Cabos even only based on this one dish. The service is very friendly, I love the salsa and pickled veggies, they are inexpensive and I wish I would have ordered about 6 more. I will def be back. Soon.

S. Antojitos Salvadorenos – Menu with Prices – 5721 S Westover Ave, Tucson

So I’m new to here and I’m very picky with my pupusas. I cannot live without tacos and pupusas. Back in California, i only eat my moms pupusas and two restaurants no where else (that’s how picky I am). The first time I tried them, i was scared, what if I didn’t like them? But omg, on the spot, delicious, homemade like pupusas! I was in love! Now we go when we can! The yuca Frita is freaking delicious as well. I would go more often if it was opened during the week. It is those “ugly” /sketchy location places that have he BEST foods.

Seydi?s Pupuseria & Grill – Menu with Prices – 2625 E Greenway Pkwy suite 107, Phoenix

Seydi’s Pupuseria & Grill is a casual order at the counter Salvandorian Restaurant that specializes in the pupusa (stuffed flatbread cheese/vegetable and cheese/meat). They are located in a strip mall in North Phoenix. They also offer Salvadorian style breakfast (tamale, rice, beans, plantains, eggs, burritos), appetizers, combination plates and around a dozen kinds of pupusas. The food is mostly fresh prepared to order so it takes around 15 minutes or more for your order. We ordered, paid and sat ourselves and in about 15 minutes we had two enormous plates to share. We started with steak with two pupusas…..The pupusas were OUTRAGEOUSLY CRAZY CRAZY GOOD! and were also much larger than we were expecting. They are like a super great grilled cheese sandwich but much tastier. They are basically masa pancakes with cheesy crisp ends and are filled with LOTS of yummy melty mild cheese and whatever filling you pick. We picked the wildflower and the jalapeño…..(both were really good but GET THE JALAPEÑO!). They give you a very sharp tasting but also spicy slaw and really flavorful chili sauce to dress things up. The steak was a little chewy but we really loved the pupusas. ($9.50) The other plate we shared was the fried tilapia ($11.99) It was a WHOLE fried fish and was so tender and flaky. The meat just fell off the bones. It came with tasty studded rice, a fried jalapeño, flavorful beans and tasty hand made corn tortillas. The person that took our order was friendly and checked on us too. What a treat! This is a place that you would want to try!

Pupusas Ely – Menu with Prices – 6201 Tippin Ave, Pensacola

Its hard to move to a new place and find good food. I would highly recommend eating here, authentic Salvadoran food. Now keep in mind it’s a hole in the wall restaurant. Everything is made to order what more can you ask for? The pupusas are absolutely delicious a must try. I love that it’s not limited to just cheese or pork and cheese. Expose your palate to new flavors!

Pupuseria Juanita’s – Menu with Prices – 625 W 1st Ave, Eugene

Juanita’s is hands down the best. I’m a Bay Area native and ever since I got to Oregon a decade ago I’ve been craving good pupusas and good Mexican/Salvadoran food. The man who cooks and runs the stand is a sweetheart. His service is always with a smile and he is such a hard worker! The tacos are delicious. The burritos are fucking huge. The pupusas are made right then and there (no heating lamps = fresh). My boyfriend also got the flautas which is basically a giant grilled burrito. My boyfriend loves the Al Pastor, the carnitas, and the chicken. I’m vegetarian, but their cheese and bean/cheese pupusas are out of this world. Their green salsa is killer and their portions are generous. Inexpensive, big portions, friendly service, and great food. This is a FOOD CART. Be happy they have any seating at all, it’s a cute area (other reviewers complaining, boo). They are also cash only but there’s an ATM in the corner store they share a parking lot with!

Rio Pupuseria – Menu with Prices – 3848 E Chapman Ave suit C, Orange

Had this bookmarked for awhile and finally went. The price is reasonable for a Pupuseria at $2.99 each plus tax They were of good size and flavor. But just took forever to make my order almost 25 minutes which is why they got 4 stars. I was the only person in the store and I think they may of forgot about me while they filled some phone orders. I ordered 4 pupusas and only received a small 1/2 full bag of the cabbage mix and 1 little container of salsa which when I asked for more I felt like she didn’t want to really give me any more as she only handed me 1 more but I returned the tomato based one as I would not of used it anyway and I did ask for 2 more of the little cups of the hot green salsa as I told her that one little cup would not be enough for what I ordered the cabbage mix didn’t even cover all of my pupusas so it really was not enough compared to other places I have been but for $12.89 I should of not had to fight for more salsa and I should of asked for more of the cabbage mix if I would of looked at it. I drove 30 minutes to try this place Don’t get me wrong the pupusas were great the service and the amount of salsa and cabbage mix not so much. The green salsa was hot and flavorful. Just not a lot of it in a 1oz container. Which each one just barely covered the pupusa would of liked a little bit more I know that salsa costs money but I never ask for any more than what I will use and if I am paying for your food I would expect to have enough of everything provided to me to complete my meal! I even returned the silverware and napkins to help them save money as I was just going home with the food anyway All in all I would return if I am in the area! As the food was really good! But I would again make sure I was provided with more cabbage mix and salsa next time and would definitely call my order in

Latin Flavor Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1565 Sarno Rd, Melbourne

This was my wife and I’s first time eating Mofongo. Figured if we are wading to Puerto Rico and it’s a must have, why not try it at a place that has it in FL. We started off with a sampler of several fried foods ranging from chicken wings to Yucca Root. All were good, but I must say the Yucca was really tasty. I’ve had it before but this had a bit more flavor than previously. We each got a main dish of Mofongo. My wife got the Carne Frita, while I had the Pernil. My wife’s fried pork was really delicious, but can NOT hold a candle to the Pernil. This was some juicy pork. Absolutely delicious. Neither of us have had Mofongo prior to this and we are not much of carboholics any more (Keto) but if you do want to try it go for it. It’s really good. Tasty but not sweet, which I was pleasantly surprised by. We will be trying it again when we reach PR, but it’s just ONE of many things we want to eat there. You should strive to try it all and eat your way through any country you’re in.
