I came here tonight for the first time and honestly there wasn’t a single thing about my experience that went smoothly. I tried to order wine. When I asked if they had a list the man just motioned for me to follow him and point to the wine I wanted. It was all behind the counter and I couldn’t read any of the labels from that far away. So I said just give me a red wine. He pointed at the white wine, and I said “no, red” and he just kept pointing at wines until he landed on a red one and I said sure. There was a huge banner outside saying they had bahn mi, but there was no bahn mi on the menu, so I ordered pho. I got the p1 which was a meat pho that came with a choice of meatball or tendon. I always order my pho with extra of the veggies, because I love the sprouts and jalapeño. He brought my soup out and it was basically solid noodles and so many raw vegetables. I’m talking a bowl full of uncooked broccoli, mushrooms and carrot. There was almost no broth and they didn’t include any meatball or tendon. Just a giant bowl of raw unseasoned veggies. They softened a bit as they sat in the hot broth but it was not at all what I wanted. I pointed it out to the man and he didn’t seem to understand anything I was saying. I think he got it eventually but didn’t offer to fix anything. It was ok I guess. The broth didn’t have enough flavor to overpower the taste of raw vegetables. We tried to pay and he didn’t understand when we told him we wanted to split our checks so we had to have one person pay and then just give her cash. I am not of the mentality that if you want to live here you need to speak our language, but I do think that if you are running a business here like taking orders it is just better for everyone if you can speak basic conversational English. The language barrier was just REALLY difficult to get past. The food was not what I wanted, but passable, but there are plenty of better, more accommodating pho places in town.

Tran’s Seafood – Menu with Prices – 3346 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Fort Myers

Don’t let the name fool you because this is NOT a seafood restaurant, it’s an awesome tiny Vietnamese restaurant and supermarket! We have been there several times and so far we have had the Pho, egg rolls, spring rolls and bahn mi. The egg rolls and spring rolls are the perfect pairing because the hot crunchiness of the egg rolls are an excellent companion to the cold, crisp freshness of the spring rolls. The bahn mi is very tasty but the Pho is where it’s at. The broth has so many layers of flavor that you can tell it’s the real deal and make sure you come hungry because the bowls are huge! We always get the Pho Dac Biet (Special Beef Pho) because we love everything in our Pho but you can order it any way you want it if you’re scared of tendon or tripe. But don’t be afraid because it’s all delicious!

Baba’s Steak And lemonade – Menu with Prices – 3205 E State Blvd, Fort Wayne

So the employees of this place treat their customers like s***. Majority of the customers wouldnâ??t know this as they donâ??t understand the language these people speak. My husband and I speak the same language as one of their employees who didnâ??t know the fact. We had placed an order on the phone which they hadnâ??t received. There are two restaurants with the same name in the area and we happened to place the order at the other one. So this guy calls this other place which is probably owned by the same person. So he calls there, tells them that the customer they were expecting is here, using extremely filthy language, using swear words in their language for god knows why. My husband Starts talking to him in his language and asks about swearing and all, this guy starts tripping and lying n all. So just fyi, these people may smile in your face and greet, they are still making fun of you, cursing and commenting on you either behind your back or right in your face in their language. SHAME on the management team and the ownership who let this happen.

Pho Nhu Y Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 864 3rd Ave, Chula Vista

A solid establishment! I only tried two things, the house special bahn mi and the beef broth… both were on point. Pros? First Vietnamese I’ve had that tasted authentic since my friend from Vietnam cooked for me The bahn mi pate and ingredient flavors were just right Bread is fresh baked from next door Staff is really friendly Staff was also very attentive to detail, turning the volume up on the tv when I was watching, super thoroughly cleaning the tables when folks left, etc… definitely care about their customers! Price was extremely reasonable I didn’t have the pho but I judge pho mostly on the broth and their broth is delicious! Didn’t have a drink either but it was soooo good to see that they weren’t priced affordably Cons? It’s super small so either get to go or plan ahead if you have a large group

Southeast Street Food – Fusion Eatery – Menu with Prices – 101 5th St E Suite 296, St Paul

A nice and new option in the skyway of Downtown St. Paul! I was super excited to see this place opening in the skyway. Plenty of options to choose from. My favorite being the bahn mi sandwiches. I’ve had all of the bahn mi’s and my two favorites are the BBQ pork and grilled beef. The only thing I would change on the bahn mi is pickle the vegetables more as that flavor does not come out. The spring rolls and rice bowls are also delicious. One hidden gem in this place is the baguette with condensed milk. Perfect amount of crispness and sweetness to satisfy you. Beyond the food, the staff here is super friendly. Would highly recommend this place if you are looking for something new to try.

Pho Bowl & Grill – Menu with Prices – 1006 Mission Ave Ste C, Oceanside

Okay, I was not going to write another review on Pho Bowl & Grill. I have to make this one my last exception. It was that good. Today was a 5 STAR +++++ day. I finally asked Lanh aka Chris, the owner, what he and/or his family would usually have. He said his family frequently eats: H1. Spicy Beef Noodle Soup Rich flavory lemongrass broth served with rice vermicelli noodles, tender beef shark, tendon, pork and shrimp sausage This by far was probably the best Vietnamese dish I have ever eaten in what most would say was a predominately known for “pho” restaurant. The pork and shrimp sausage is absolute perfection exploding with flavor. It was my favorite thing in the bowl. The tendon was gelatinous but very tasty. I had my reservations upfront about the tendon, but it definitely added to the experience. In the past, my experience with tendon has been it was very difficult to chew. The tender beef had just the right amount of fat to add to its flavor. The broth was rich in flavor and had a taste unlike any other pho bowls I have had in the past. Delicious. It had to have been the lemongrass in the broth. For my own personal taste, it could have been more spicy, but that is why they have all of the extra condiments on the table. Make it your way by adding whatever seasoning you like. Easily, Vietnamese food is some of the most interesting and flavorful food in the world. At least, it is my favorite. I have been to Spain, Portugal, France, Marrakesh and loved the food. I have been all over Mexico, Central and South America. Lived in the Philippines. Been to Japan. I think I can speak with some degree of experience. If you have not eaten Vietnamese food, you are really missing out. Give it a try and don’t be shy. Food should be an experience. A hamburger can be a “real” experience or it can just be another hamburger. I think you know what I mean. If you want to step out of your comfort, try something you might not have previously tried. And, did I mention this place is VERY reasonably priced at $8.25 for a small pho and $8.95 for a large pho. Oh, before I forget, I was with one of my best friends who is absolutely not an adventurous eater and he had the “chicken fried rice”. I was lucky to get him into a pho restaurant. When I quizzed him about how good was it, he said it was one of the best he had ever eaten. He, also, said when we go back he will probably try a vermicelli bowl which would be breaking entirely out of his comfort zone. I think I have a convert.

Sri Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 8115 NE Vancouver Mall Dr Ste 60, Vancouver

The food is fabulous, I won’t dispute this. Their service is fast and friendly. They however, have bottles of wine on display, but not for purchase which is highly misleading. My boyfriend went in and wanted a glass of wine with dinner. He ordered the Menage a Trois wine since it was displayed and asked if they could open that. The employee refused several times, saying they don’t open bottles on display. Ok, so why advertise it in the first place then? Decor? In my opinion, that’s rude and misleading. Also, I ordered my curry with extra veggies, and it only included a handful of them. When I asked the server about it, he came back saying the owner would charge me $3.00 if I wanted to add more veggies. What kind of place charges for putting extra veggies into a dish? I’ve eaten at dozens of Thai restaurants, none of which have ever charged me extra for more veggies (or failed to provide me with a free side of veggies if they didn’t put enough.) Hopefully next time we’ll get better service, but until then, they’ve earned nothing over mediocrity.

Cafe Bonjour / Hi – Menu with Prices – 2054 St Denis St, Montreal

French is a beautiful language and so is English is the business language of the world. Why cant both languages live peacefully in together. Equality is always what we fight for yet a simple bilingual name of a coffee shop is an issue to many. To the owner of this Coffee shop. I support your name as I am fully bilingual and love both languages and its people equally. I wish that the people that are hating on your business for the reason of naming it Bonjour / Hi can see that you cant promote a language by getting rid of another. There are many ways to socially promote the French Language by peace and love that would encourage people from all other languages to want to learn french and speak french. Dont scare away the English people, encourage them to learn the language and to the French people be encouraged to learn the English Language and together we can accomplish greater things together. Quebec can be the most powerful province in all of Canada if we did not have this language barrier separation issue. Enough Said ! Lets go have some great coffee at this wonderful place.

La Michoacana Premium – Menu with Prices – 1327 E 4th St, Ontario

The product is good, but your workers are very rude. My boyfriend and I came in about 2 days ago. He’s been there many times, it was my first time. We came in and there was no line, we got walked by several times and ignored and then a rush of people came in and they continued to keep passing us. Finally because we were glaring at them for so long, one girl told us in Spanish that she couldn’t help us because she only spoke Spanish and another girl would come and help us…..my boyfriend is full blooded mexican and Spanish is his first language. He told her I do speak Spanish and she just ignored us until the next lady came. We got passed up by 3 different guests with 3 workers at the counter….I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty racist if you ask me. Don’t assume someone doesn’t speak the language just because they look like a guero.

Coffee Fusion – Menu with Prices – 836 N Thompson Ln #1f, Murfreesboro

FINALLY REAL FOOD! Being from California originally i had never thought i would see Pandan anything ever again after heading to the south for work. Today i was proven wrong. Pandan waffle, Pandan Cake… And the nice young man at the counter had said his Aunt made the cake! A Real Local, Real Family and Really Good spot all around! Beef Pho was perfect, broth was well balanced and the meat was not overpowering anything. Spring Rolls were stuffed well and uniform and delicious. Red Bean bun was soft and sweet and perfect. Steamed Bun was perfect! Sausage and Hard Boiled Egg! Bahn Mi with BBQ Pork was fantastic! Perfect Bread, tons of veggies inside! Paté and all! Thai Iced Tea was excellent. Vietnamese Iced coffee was a heavy hitter! POW! All in all this was so good that i was very upset i didnt have any cash on me to leave a tip. So i drove down the street and bought something at walgreens down the st just to get cash back to run back in and give the young guy at the counter. These are the businesses we need in this world. Find them. Love them. And support them.

Joy’s Cafe Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 5157 55 Ave NW, Edmonton

I was looking for a non franchise to eat lunch and this place looked like a good bet. It is definitely a local joint, the inside looked like someones house and all the items were written in dry erase. There is definitely a language barrier, my friend tried to order soup and they said there was no soup but then we pointed to the menu and said there was soup, so he got… some sort of beef stew. I ordered the bulgogi bowl and it was really good. Everything tasted really fresh and it was served hot and tasty. Id like to explore their menu a little more. Try some of their korean fried chicken or one of their sandwich offerings. My only criticism is where is the cafe part? I didnt see coffee or tea on the menu There was a keurig in the corner… So i guess that counts?

Lo Banh Mi Viet Hot Bread – Menu with Prices – 3151 S 129th E Ave, Tulsa

OK Yum I can’t speak for all the other sandwiches but I’ve had the number three chicken twice… In two days. It’s a great value and a large sandwich filled with fresh ingredients. I read the reviews and saw that it comes with a jalapeño slice so I appreciate the heads up on that though there is a bit of a language barrier. I said no jalapeño and she nodded and pointed to the pepper but my sandwich had it on it anyway. I just remove the thin slice of jalapeño and actually enjoyed the flavor that it left on the bun so I think I’ll do that from now on. The shop is very small and doesn’t leave you with a feeling that you want to eat there there so we always opt for to go. The Boba tea is delicious and has a large variety of pictured options and exotic fruits available. Very kind and helpful staff.

The Square Scullery Menu with Prices 783 W Market St, Akron

I tried the house made Ramen. The broth and the vegetables were perfect, very aromatic and very tasty. I seriously could drink just the broth and be fine. The smoked pork was tender and delicious. The noodles appeared to be handmade based on their imperfections. These werenâ??t machine manufactured noodles. Iâ??ve had Ramen in Japan before and you donâ??t get much closer to the real deal than this. At first, I thought it was pricey, but considering everything that went into making this bowl, it was well worth it. That blueberry lavender tea was also amazing. It was very rich, like medieval wine. I definitely will be going back. They put everything in biodegradable containers. I hope they can afford to stay in business by doing this.
