Easily going to become our go-to Taco Tuesday spot, with amazing meats, fresh toppings, and 1.50 tacos. Their carnitas taco will become your best friend, confidant, and comforter. A crunchy layer on the outside gave way to lots of flavor and tenderness on the inside (kind of like me). The lengua taco is all tenderness and no flavor. The birria taco is amazingly spice flavoring, but it comes as either lamb or goat which are distinctively flavored meats on their own. Know yourself before committing to it. I ordered the three taco plate, which comes with rice and beans. I was building a rice and beans layer for a wine tasting late and was pleasantly surprised to find the rice/beans had plenty of flavors very enjoyable to eat on their own. Ambience was perfect for lunch or dinner, with mutes street sounds and nearby heaters in case it got chilly. My partner and I could hear each other just fine and still felt our conversation wouldn’t be overheard. Other categories? Well, their tortillas are corn (nice and authentic) and hold up well — not falling apart in your second but. Cilantro is everywhere (including in the guacamole, which I love). If cilantro is not your thing, make sure to ask to leave it off.

Taqueria El Nuevo Perico #2 – Menu with Prices – 3702 E Chapman Ave, Orange

This taqueria is definitely delicious and authentic. The Carne Asada taco was very juicy and well seasoned and they use flour tortillas. The street tacos come with cilantro and onion on top with a side of grilled onion and radishes. I also bought the taco combo with carne asada (picture) which comes with rice, beans, and the onions. The Al Pastor taco (in the picture) was really tasty and juicy. The best part of this restaurant is that none of the meats were dry, but they’re a bit overpriced. However, the tacos are a bit larger than small corn tortilla tacos. There are definitely tastier tacos for cheaper if you’re willing to drive further out of Orange, but for a local, fast service taco, this is an excellent choice. There is also a lot of seating here and the place is large and clean, including a restroom.

Leilani’s Island Tacos – Menu with Prices – Wawamalu Beach Park, 8549, KalanianaÊ»ole Hwy, Honolulu

What a find! Caught their truck while walking up to Lanikai Brewing and prayed they had even a palatable vegetarian option because I was post-hike and ravenous. I saw “Bean Sprout Tacos” and ordered it without reading anything else: GREAT decision. The tacos were 2 for $10 and were definitely big enough to be worth the money. What’s more, the flavor was excellent. I’m honestly somewhat glad that I didn’t read the description because I was so surprised by the punch of flavor. Stop reading if you want to trust me (and them) and be equally pleasantly surprised. ~SPOILER ALERT~ The Bean Sprout Tacos are corn tortillas loaded with zingy cilantro-lime rice, arugula, flavorful and just-salty-enough black beans (high praise from the one vegetarian on the planet who doesn’t usually like black beans), slaw, and sprouts and topped with a sesame-ginger glaze, cilantro sour cream and, for a bit of crunch that pulls the whole thing together, sunflower seeds. How do they fit that many ingredients into a taco? Unsure. How does one gracefully eat a taco with so many ingredients inside of it? Also unsure. Just embrace these mysteries and be grateful.

Tacos los Plebes Menu with Prices 675 Danielsville Rd, Athens

Unpretentious counter service taco joint. In short, good value for decent food, though I think you have to figure out what to order, as quality varies markedly from dish to dish. I had the tacos al pastor and asada (steak). The steak taco was excellent – though you could tell the cut of meat was not of the highest quality, the steak was well marinated in a deep sauce with a slight spiciness, served with onions and cilantro in two corn tortillas (el Milagro’s I think) with generous portions for $1.99 per taco. The al pastor taco was not as tasty – it was overly sweet to my taste due to the pineapple chunks, which were soft and seemed like they were out of a can soaked in sugar water. I probably would have enjoyed the pork taco more without the pineapple. Two salsas are provided – a spicy red sauce and a green sauce (tomatilla base). The red sauce went well with the steak taco. I had a side of rice and beans (which is an extra charge, but still fairly inexpensive), which were mediocre and I would recommend avoiding. Rice was clumpy and overcooked and the beans were not very flavorful, topped with Chihuahua cheese. Service is pretty much non-existent, so if you need a refill on your water or anything else, speak up!

jessicas Tacos – Menu with Prices – 1100 Crows Landing Rd, Modesto

// Overall: RECOMMENDED! // I love Mexican food, and this taco truck is no exception– not only does it have a sister taco truck on 8th street, but it is extremely affordable! Nothing is even remotely shady– considering the taco truck stereotype is rather negative, sadly– about anything except perhaps the general area of both locations, as there can be some more interesting people about. If one can get past that, I would say that this is the best Modesto taco truck to go to! The verdict on the burrito: it is absolutely delicious, although it can have its bad days– and its bad days come a little more often than appreciated. The meat is most often warm, juicy, and extremely savory. The tortilla, depending on the location, can be either flawlessly cooked or too floury. The beans, rice, and various other ingredients are usually spot on! The tortas can be slightly too saucy, but still great. However, the tacos are the selling point– they’re 50 cents to a dollar, and on Taco Tuesdays even cheaper!! Squirt some lime on them, and you have a perfect snack, or even a dinner if you buy enough! Truly, this place is great if you live nearby– and if not, it’s definitely worth the small trip!

The Taco Stand – Menu with Prices – 240 W Chapman Ave, Orange

I had heard amazing things about The Taco Stand in San Diego so was so excited to see we were getting an OC location. It took me a while to try it, but I ended up coming for lunch on a Saturday. I found street parking easily and the spots nearby aren’t metered so I was able to find a 2 hour spot across the street. When you walk in the menu is on the wall above the register, and then you order at the counter and find a spot to eat and they call names as the orders are ready. I opted for the al pastor and camaron tacos with a side of rice and beans. I thought the tacos were good but there was a LOT of sauce on each of them. I should have asked for sauce on the side but I wanted to try the authentic taco as it was intended, but it felt almost drenched in the sauce. The meat/shrimp were both really flavorful, and the tortilla was tasty. The rice was undercooked so still on the crunchy side which was a little disappointing. The beans also lacked a little bit of flavor so I put a ton of salsa on them to flavor them up. Finding seating was a bit tricky since it was lunch so we had to wait around a little until people got up. It ended up being fine and I’m sure the flow is good throughout the day, but I imagine it might be tricky to find seating at peak lunch or dinner. Overall the ambiance was good and the service was good, but the food was a little lackluster. If you like heavier sauces I’m sure the tacos are good, but they flavors overall didn’t blow me away and the sides were a little disappointing. I would still checkout the Taco Stand if you’re in the area, but if you’re reading this you’re probably smarter than me and looked at pictures first so you know what you’re getting.

El Grito Taqueria – Menu with Prices – 120 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Madison

Seriously good food, and one of my favorite carts in Madison!! They usually feature three types of tacos on their menu: two different meats and one vegetable taco. I love their meat (brisket, pork and chicken) tacos but be sure to NOT EXCLUDE that vegetable (sweet potato, roasted carrot, and cauliflower) taco! Sounds strange, but they’ve got me hooked on that veggie taco. I always order one of each, no matter what’s featured that day. They use fresh, farm ingredients, with bold and spicy flavors. Their habanero sauce is homemade and definitely brings the heat. If they ever decide to bottle that sauce, I’d be the first to pre-order a case of datt!!!! Sometimes they have house-made drinks, like horchata or watermelon agua. Both will quench your thirst and satisfy your taste buds!

Taqueria Chapala – Menu with Prices – 205 S Fresno Ave, Stockton

I’ve been here a few times never had a issue. I only go for the burritos. Sometimes I’ll find a little fat here not a big deal. Today was the last straw. Went to buy dinner 2 tacos of carnitas with rice and beans and 2super burritos with beef Chile colorado. First when I walked in this new young girl never seen there was giving me attitude because she had to do her job. I first asked for carnita taco. She asked me again what kind even after telling her carnita and at the end she gave me the wrong meat. Dont ever get Chile colorado burritos the meat was nothing but fat it was so gross and to top it off it was basically rice and beans. I couldn’t taste the other toppings. My husband said the rice was bland and beans tasted funny. All that food and only got 2 jalapenos wtf. The service sucked and the cook messed up my dinner.

Chuy’s Night Club – Menu with Prices – Fresno

This is one of the best taco trucks in Fresno! If you are looking for really authentic tacos that taste amazing with tons of topping choices for not much money, this is your taco truck! Here’s why I love it: 1) The tortillas and meats: sooo good! Like at many other trucks, the tacos here are served with just the tortilla and meat so that you can customize them how you like them (see below). The tortillas are really good: they taste freshly made (not sure if they are actually making them in the truck, but they are super fresh none-the-less). The meats are good too: we tried four different meats, and all are yummy. I particularly recommend the al pastor, which is, in fact, cooked on a spit with fresh pineapple (the *only* way to cook al pastor!). Sooo good! 2) The toppings: there are a TON of different options, including both grilled and raw onions (go for the grilled!), beans, jalapenos, cabbage, cilantro, and five different types of salsa (the green is the best!). Also, if you do get al pastor, be sure to ask for fresh pineapple on top! 3) The price: soooo cheap! Most tacos are less than $2 each, so go ahead, eat as many as you want! Other menu options are really cheap too. 4) The staff: super friendly and fast! Why aren’t you eating here yet?!?!

Tuxies Juices – Menu with Prices – 6030 Magnolia Ave, Riverside

Taco place around Riverside plaza that I’ve never tried out before. Passing by it, I decided I gotta give it a try, because I love trying new places and also its Tuesday so taco Tuesday of course! On first glance this place seems like it goes way back, a small little hut that looks like it took over a wienerschnitzel, but inside is filled with delicious tacos. So I went up and ordered the Tuesday taco combo which has refried beans covered in cheese, Mexican rice, and 3 tacos, and with the combo u get a 2nd one for like 6 dollars, so pretty worth. I got the cabeza, asada, and al pastor, and overall they were all not bad! I love cabeza and of course the cabeza was good. The tacos were topped in the usual cilantro and onions but also a spicy guac like sauce, that was pretty solid. I’d definitely try this place again!

Thirsty Amigos Taco Shop – Menu with Prices – 1026 S Gilbert Rd #101, Gilbert

I’ll preface this review with I was starving. Great stop for quick and tasty tacos. I went with the cashier’s recommendation for tacos–one pork, one shrimp/taco plate, rice and beans. Order came out quickly, food was fresh, hot and tasty. Salsa bar a nice touch for extra flavor and/heat. Pork was tender with some spice that didn’t overpower. The shrimp was even better. Tender, not hard cooked… ‘traditional rice’ was a wee bit dry for my liking but the flavor was on point. I ordered black beans–tender and tasty. The meal filled my empty stomach for under $7! Overall, good quality food, inexpensive cost. Fast service—granted it was slow but both the cashiers and manager checked in, were very friendly and chatted with myself and my partner (we were in our volunteer uniforms ) dining area of restaurant was very clean, tons of TVs were a bit distracting and the music was turned up pretty loud (mix if genre) but not so much where I couldn’t hear the conversation at the table—maybe they were prepping for Cinco de Mayo crowd? Will definitely have to stop by during a happy hour and check it out again.

Taqueria Lupe – Menu with Prices – 7133 SE Maricamp Rd, Ocala

Incredible tacos. Best I’ve ever had, my whole family comes here for authentic Mexican food. Muy bueno!!! The spicy pork has special seasoning, the flavor is amazing you won’t find tacos with this flavor anywhere else. The super taco has your choice of meat, lettuce, tomato, cilantro, cheese, sour cream, add on avocado for extra. So filling and reasonably priced for dinner! The rice and chips are my favorite sides. I noticed there weren’t pictures of the menu online when I was trying to decide what to order before showing up there. The owners are extremely friendly, I love supporting their truck.

Abelardo’s Mexican Food – Menu with Prices – 1200 S Minnesota Ave, Sioux Falls

Went there Friday April 26th. When I arrived I asked the young gentleman what was good (I like to find out what the staff likes to help me decide). He said “Everything”. I ordered the two taco plate. A friend ordered the taco and enchilada plate with a shredded beef taco and cheese enchilada. When our food arrived it was interesting that the amount of beans and rice was different on each of our plates. They use a Styrofoam plate that has three sections. Since the rice was in one section, the beans in another, my friend definitely had more of each. I expected the taco to be one of three things: 1) a flour tortilla (ie softshell) 2) a hard yellow corn fried tortilla (hardshell) or 3) a white corn tortilla lightly grilled (street taco). What I received was a flour tortilla deep fried and dark brown (on the edge of burned). Same with my friend’s taco. When I picked up my taco, there was nearly an 1/8th of an inch of grease in the third section. As I held the taco, the grease literally dripped out! I thought about adding a enchilada to my order at first, but now I was glad I didn’t. Here is the take-away. My plate had less beans and rice than my friend. My ground beef tacos were greasy and had nearly burned deep fried flour tortillas with very little seasoning. My friend’s shredded beef taco meat was tender, but without flavor and his shell was also nearly burned. His enchilada had little flavor also. The salsa bar was nice, as as the other reviewer mentioned, the salsa is a little spicy. They had sliced carrots and pickled jalapeno peppers, as well as radishes and fresh lime. The menu looks like Giliberto’s, the salsa bar looks like Giliberto’s but the portion size and flavors are not there. We felt like they were trying to imitate a good thing, but fell short. We cleaned our plates there and went to Taco Johns. I had a super burrito and small Ole’s. He had a hardshell taco and small Ole’s. Kinda sad when you have to order a meal after you have just finished one….
