Garlic, garlic, garlic! If you love garlic as much as I do, you’ll love Russo’s. The garlic knots, Caesar salad, and my absolute favorite, the cheese tortellini with mushroom sauce, were all unapologetically doused with the heavenly bulbs. We also had the cheese bread served with marinara that was so generously covered with cheese that they were almost as cheesy as mozzarella sticks. The fried cauliflower was flavorful, with a coating that was just right–not too thick. We tried 3 salads, of which the Greek was my favorite–a great balance of cucumber, kalamata olives, tomato, onions and feta cheese. The Caesar, as I mentioned, had great garlic flavor and was well dressed. I wasn’t a fan of the pesto salad, however. As for the pizza, it was delicious, even as a stand-alone cheese, with a thin, well-textured crust and fired to a nice medium. They have a huge array of toppings to add as desired. But the cheese tortellini with mushroom sauce was a stand-out and my favorite. We ended with a tasting of the desserts. The chocolate cake was deep, dark and irresistible; the cheesecake was New York style, of course, and was eaten quickly–a real plate-cleaner; the carrot cake was okay, but I detected too much cinnamon? that detracted from its overall flavor. Russo’s is a great place to eat (or they deliver), but it’s stuck in the back of a shopping center with no direct traffic flow, and the prices are on the high side. Hopefully it will prosper by good word-of-mouth recommendations.

Charlie’s Cheesecake Works – Menu with Prices – 1179 Redmond Ave, San Jose

if you havent already, you MUST try charlie’s cheesecakes. ive been waiting a long time to try their products but never had the chance to until recently. the boyfriend and i ordered a box of their sampler cheesecake bites (poppers) and fell in love with it! we also ordered a bigger chocolate cheesecake for a birthday dinner. everyone reported back about how delicious the cheesecake had been. although i havent gotten a chance to try out every flavor that appealed to me, i did try these flavors and absolutely loved them: -their “silicon valley” original (new york) -strawberry -chocolate -blueberry i was not a fan of their latte and key lime pie flavors, but that didnt impact my opinion at all! cant expect to like everything, lol. they have a HUGE selection of flavors…its so exciting! by far, charlie’s cheesecake surpasses the cheesecake factory. their cheesecake is authentic and has the consistency that real cheesecake should have… packed and dense. no integrated cake nor layers of cream frills. just 100% cheesecake through and through. love it!

Birthday Cakes & Things – Menu with Prices – 60 N 56th St, Philadelphia

Ok if you have ever had the debate on which is better pie or cake…this place will make you love cake. The cheesecakes here are works of art! I am in love with these perfect geometric wedges of cheese cake. The craftsmanship is evident in every detail of every cake. The slices come carefully individually wrapped with a circular gold wrapper around the bottom and edges and a clear perimeter wrap to keep all the edges protected. I don’t know how they get all these crisp corners to match up with such clean defined edges. I started with a slice of Macha cheese cake and paired it with a Macha latte. The cheese cake had the delicate and smooth flavor of macha. The vibrant green cheesecake cake in perfectly even layers separated by moist almost paper thin layers of white sponge cake. Amazing complex flavors here. I had to go for round two. I came back to the counter for a Hojicha latte and a slice of the mango cheesecake. It was recommended to me by the very nice girl at the counter. It was perfect for a hot summer day. The mango was swirled in with the creamy cheesecake in such a way that I though immediately…now this is art! I was so full that it took me a long time to finish this piece but there was no way that I was going to leave even one crumb behind in that plate. I just love the way the bakers here are dedicated to delicious cheesecake that looks as beautiful as it tastes. The geometry and the colors are just inspiring to me.

3A Restaurant Food and Drink – Menu with Prices – 264 Bedford Hwy, Halifax

I’d give here a 3.5. Tried for lunch lunch twice in the same week, both rainy days just before noon. The restaurant had one larger group at a table the first visit, and just two other regular tables taken on the second. I assume business picks up more in the evenings? Very friendly service. Simple atmosphere with lots of windows running the Bedford Hwy side of the building, but still a bit dark inside with gray walls, dark tables, no warmth, but not bad. The menu is generic, but the food is tasty. My Roasted Red Pepper chicken sandwich ($11.99 toasted ciabatta bun, spinach, bacon, smoked red pepper, cheddar, balsamic mayo) was quite delicious. The amount of white meat was almost like two full chicken breasts, but in smaller pieces that made it a bit messy to eat, but not too bad. The lunch special (10.99 that includes your choice of half wrap, salad & soup) is a good way to try a few different things. The cream of mushroom was very thick, and had a few noodles, but good flavor. The maple blueberry spinach side salad was good, with a drizzle of dressing, drop of goat cheese. The half caesar chicken wrap was warm and decent. My friend really loved his Philly Steak Sandwich (12.99 marinated steakloin, bbq sauce, mushroom, onion, green & red pepper, cheddar on a ciabatta), saying it had a lot of flavor. Fries and sweet potato fries are tasty and cooked well, thinner like shoe string. His Pan Fried haddock (13.99 served with blacken garlic butter, thyme & seasonal veg) was cooked just right he said, not amazing, but good, and overall satisfying. We’ll be back!

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams – Menu with Prices – 900 Rosa L Parks Blvd, Nashville

Once you walk by the stand you are immediately smacked in the face with the smell of butter cream. The wide array of interesting flavors pulls you in and at that point there’s no escaping. The staff was very generous with their sampling and able to still keep the line moving efficiently. Of the 3 flavors I had the gooey butter was my favorite, as a cake batter lover it’s hard for me to not go for that flavor, but the chunks of cake made it stand out even amongst other ones I’ve had. The almond brittle was also phenomenal, complementing the brown sugar flavor perfectly. The pb&j was good, much more subtle than you would expect given the two strong flavors, but it paled in comparison to the other two I had. I also tried a bite the lemon and blueberry parfait flavor my friend had, it tasted like you were smacked in the face by a lemon cheesecake, but in a good way!

Bella Italia Ristorante – Menu with Prices – 3948 Legacy Dr, Plano

I’m not sure why Bella never showed up before today when I’d do a Yelp restaurant search in the area, but I’m glad it finally did, and I’m glad we tried it. In the future, we’ll make sure to make a reservation in advance, because we had to wait a few minutes since we didn’t have a reservation, and it was clear several tables were made up for reservations in the next hour or so. They’ve got a great menu, with all the regular items you’d expect, as well as some you might not. For the most part, we went with our staples when we’re going out for Italian. I ordered the veal parmigiana, my Mom got the linguini with clams, my daughter went with the chicken fettucine alfredo, and my wife, who usually gets chicken marsala, tried a cheese tortellini dish. As advertised, the garlic knots are fantastic. House salad was ok, but I’m not big on spring mix lettuce, so I’ll go with the side Caesar next time, which others had and enjoyed. The veal parmigiana was one of the best I’ve ever had. Two cutlets, that don’t look huge on the plate, but are extremely filling, and they tasted fantastic. My mom thought her linguini with clams was ok, but she’ll try something different next time. My wife’s tortellini was good, but not overly huge, which she said was ok since she wasn’t starving. My daughter, who admittedly is very picky about her alfredo, wasn’t wowed by this one. She didn’t care for the flavor of the sauce, and the chicken was a bit tough. While we’re usually hesitant to send food back, the waiter was fantastic, and offered to let her switch it out for something else. After having tasted my veal, she went with that, and she agreed it was much better and was one of the best she’s had. Service was friendly and consistent throughout, even though it took a little while to get the garlic knots at first. The owner (manager?) stops by each table to make sure you’re happy and have everything you need, and that’s very nice to see in this day and age. Bella is how I imagine restaurants used to be in the 50s-60s or maybe in small town America today where the restaurant employees and regular customers all know each other and are friendly. Bella was a great place with tasty food and polished service. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in the mood for Italian in that part of Plano.

Sweet Hereafter Cheesecakery – Menu with Prices – 6148 Quinpool Rd, Halifax

My friend and I arrived a few minutes before opening but they still let us in anyway, which was nice! The selection was on the smaller side, but I suppose it’s not fair to compare them to something like The Cheesecake Factory where you have dozens upon dozens of flavours. I ended up getting the Kit Kat cheesecake and an iced green tea drink. Surprisingly, the iced green tea was really delicious. It had a touch of lemonade that added a tanginess to it. The cheesecake itself was decent. If you’re a fan of NY-style cheesecake, you’ll like this place. Overall, while I prefer the much lighter and nuanced Japanese-style cheesecake (where I can literally eat the entire cake in one day), I enjoyed the Kit Kat slice well enough. It was chocolate on top of chocolate, so if you’re a fan of that, then this one’s for you. Service was super friendly as well! The only other downside is that it was quite pricy for a single slice.

Cheesy Eddie’s – Menu with Prices – 602 South Ave, Rochester

It’s Good, plain and simply put! The Key Lime Blossom was my favorite item. It was creamy and solid, yet light with an amazing lime flavor that was clearly present but not overpowering. I was glad to see items other than just slices of cheesecake available for purchase. Also tried the carrot cake which was delicious. The cheesecake was good as well! With so many flavored slices to choose from, it was hard to pick just 1, but i went with the Apple streusel and it was a great choice. The Apple streusel isn’t a wild crazy “over-the-top” flavor as described but As I’m writing this I’m just realizing that their “over-the-top” cheesecakes ( as opposed to classic) just means that there are toppings ‘over the top’ of the cheesecake, LOL, not wild outrageous flavors. Wow, Lol Definitely will go back if i need a Cheesecake fix our a freshly made dessert!

Hungry Howie’s Pizza Menu with Prices 3395 Plymouth Rd, Ann Arbor

This was my first time trying Hungry Howie’s and I had a great experience. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and as other reviews reiterate, the customer service here is fantastic. The workers were very pleasant and quick to serve right as I walked in the door. In terms of taste, I think you get more than you pay for. I ordered a medium well done pie. The pizza felt somewhere in between a Little Caesar’s and Chuck e Cheese pizza in all the best ways possible. This is definitely a go to option if you’re looking for a reliable fast food slice that gives you a bang for your buck. The cheese was nice and caramelized and where this chain shines is definitely their sauce; it is the true star in the pizza box. The cheese is on the lighter side and the crust is closer to loaf style without being too doughy like Little Caesar’s. While I have had better chain restaurant pizzas, between service and flavor, I have no complaints and only good things to say. This is perhaps the best dollar/slice to flavor ratio around. Try this location out and see for yourself!

Roadhouse Cafe – Menu with Prices – 15660 San Carlos Blvd # 280, Fort Myers

Roadhouse café is in our radar screen for a sometime. Our first visit here. Roadhouse Café is a typical Florida strip mall restaurant on the outside but a real surprise on the inside. You notice right away, the live music and ‘speakeasy’ style of décor. The music permeated the establishment and not too loud to carry a conversation. The live Jazz is nostalgic and the ambiance take you back to the era of super club a la Sinatra or an underground jazz club in Manhattan! Private rooms were available for special events. As you sit down, a hot Ciabatta bread with garlic dipping sauce was served. You can smell aroma of the bread without breaking it. Candle and a small rose overlooking the fresh bread. This is a good sign! Beside a full bar, a good wine selection was available to compliment your meal. You have a good selection of appetizers ranging from Tuna Sashimi, Kobe Carpaccio, crab cakes, Portabella mushroom, scallops with bacon, mussels and others. To save room, we shared arugula salad. This salad topped with cheese, tomatoes and creamy vinaigrette was refreshing and well prepared. Our entrées are Chicken Parmesan, Salmon with Tzatziki sauce and pan seared scallop. The chicken Parmesan featured a thick chicken breast over a bed of linguine while five huge scallops were perfectly seared with creamy risotto. It was a pleasure to bite into the scallops. The chicken in Chicken Parm is tender and not too saucy! The Tzatziki sauce infused the Mediterranean taste in the Salmon flavor. The roasted vegetable and Jasmine rice made this a very healthy dish. The portion is huge! A huge, well made carrot cake with cream cheese frosting with ice cream, and strawberry is simply amazing. It is a man size dessert and enough for 3 persons! The vanilla ice cream is a local product from Love Boat ice cream, a great Fort Myers favorite! A chocolate cake was shared and it is equally delicious. A perfect ending for a wonderful meal. Be warned, reservation is highly recommended or a must! If you enjoy good food, live music at a leisure pace, this is the place for you! This restaurant is a joy to visit and dine.

Madfish Grill – Menu with Prices – 4059 Cattlemen Rd, Sarasota

I have lived on Bee ridge and cattlemen my whole life and just this year began going to Madfish. I guess I always thought it was an all seafood restaurant which I’m not a fan of. But I was pleasantly surprised by the wide array of non seafood options. My favorite dishes are the jerk chicken wings, the Caesar salad (best Caesar dressing in town) and they specially make the chicken Marsala for me. Their Marsala sauce is amazing, it is so creamy and light. Everything is so fresh as well. Tonight I came in after the gym looking for a quick, not so heavy meal. I ordered the voodoo chicken with blue cheese sauce and spinach off of the summer menu and it is the best thing I’ve ever had!! I hope they keep this item always!!!!

Linda’s Vegetarian Village – Menu with Prices – 6381 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia

Was looking for a Vegan spot “near me” and found Linda’s. The Falafel Burger is fantastic! I could eat it everyday. It is topped with tomatoes, lettuce, some wonderful sauce, vegan cheese and sauteed onions. It looked great, smelled great and tasted great. I bought couscous, chick’n wrap and raw blueberry cheesecake, also. The cheesecake is creamy and the cashew and coconut oil flavors are very present so if you aren’t a fan of either, it might not be for you (it works for me). The couscous has good flavor from the garlic, scallions and peppers. I haven’t tried my wrap yet but I am anticipating happy, happy times with it!

Surfing Crab – Menu with Prices – 6418 S Staples St Suite 124, Corpus Christi

I was so excited for this place to open! I before this opened would have to go to Victoria for the garlic butter and this style of boil that I enjoy. And it didn’t disappoint!!! The garlic butter flavor with mild Cajun seasoning omg fantastic! The staff was all very nice. They don’t have alcohol. They not only give you a bib they give you an assortment of tools to use to make cracking shells easier unlike some places and they also give you gloves if you would like. Yes this style of boil is not everyone’s favorite with how you create it and the pricing per side item but I enjoy it and the flavor is great. If they roast the garlic beforehand it would be even better!
