Varietals I have never experienced before ! Learning my way around the specialty coffee world with Ludwig Coffee at City Acres in Green Point, Brooklyn was eye opening, the sales guy was very nice and kind enough to explain the differences between Arabica and Robusta. The tasting of Ludwig’s cold brew coffee options was phenomenal, I highly recommend the Nicaraguan Catuaí varietal, Tea like qualities and subtleties that are perfect for those who have not yet ventured into the world of fancy cold brew coffee. SUPER SMOOTH.

Lakota Coffee Company – Downtown – Menu with Prices – 24 S 9th St, Columbia

There’s great food and coffee here but the baristas are a bit rude to customers if they don’t exactly know what they’re talking about. I ordered a cold brew not realizing that they don’t actually have that at this location but the barista at the register was helpful in fulfilling my order with an iced coffee instead (and that was absolutely okay). But, he did not tell me that there wasn’t actually cold brew so I didn’t grab my drink when they called “iced coffee”. When I didn’t come pick it up by myself, he was kind enough to bring it to me and he said “here’s your iced coffee” to which I questioned “cold brew?” because that was what I thought I had ordered. He dismissed my question and walked away mumbling a comment along the lines of “iced coffee IS cold brew” which I know it’s not. It isn’t made the same. What bothered me most is that he went to his coworkers to talk about me. He probably was not aware but I overheard him and I felt embarrassed even though I didn’t think I had said anything wrong. In Memorial Union on MU’s campus you can get Lakota coffee from Wheatstone Bistro and they offer cold brew. It’s definitely different than the iced coffee. It’s smooth and almost tastes like caramel. It is also served with a smile!

Ali’i Coffee Co. – Menu with Prices – 35 S Beretania St, Honolulu

It’s official, this is hands down my favorite coffee shop ever. I was recommended to try this place which is known for their various cold brew and coffee items as well as their yummy flatbreads and I am so glad I finally got to try it! First off, it should be known that I am not a coffee drinker; I’m addicted to tea. However, I do love ube so I tried their taro ube latte while my friend got the nitro cold brew. We also shared their prosciutto flatbread. Even as a non-coffee drinker, the ube latte was really delicious! In a subtle yet noticeable way, the ube is really light and somewhat kicks in at the end of your sip. The nitro cold brew was really smooth but quite strong (so this is probably a favorite for those that need that extra punch). The flatbread was also phenomenal! I usually don’t enjoy the saltiness of prosciutto, however the meat was toasted making it taste more like bacon which went along with the vinegary and sweet tastes of the balsamic. One of the co-owners also gave us some samples of their Hibiscus cascava tea and the “King” cold brew which contained chocolate, cream and coconut. I cannot emphasize anymore on how delicious the tea was. It starts of floral which then becomes a refreshingly sweet taste that fills your tastebuds. The tea has honey mixed it which accompanies the “tangy” taste of fruity teas. What’s even more fascinating is that the tea is prepared in a cold brew style. The King cold brew was also really yummy! Again, I don’t really drink coffee, however it was creamy yet a perfect amount of sweet which made it addicting to drink. A bonus is that most, if not all their ingredients are locally produced; love the support local mantra going on! Service/Ambience: The workers are super friendly and nice. They are very helpful in finding the right drink for you and will even engage with their customers if they aren’t catering to the many individuals who will come for their coffee fix. The shop itself is a small yet aesthetic coffee shop and the ambience is a very “chill” and trendy vibe that allows you to enjoy your experience. Parking: Parking in downtown itself is a challenge, however there are various metered parking stalls nearby. If not, the Municipal parking lot is only a street over and their rates are fairly cheap! ($0.75 for every half hour – which is more than enough to grab your coffee and food) I definitely felt the caffeine hit after our drinks but I absolutely loved everything that was served and would most definitely return!

Dirt Juicery – Menu with Prices – 2304 Lineville Rd #108, Green Bay

I discovered DIRT at the GB Saturday farmer’s market and was an instant fan after trying their cold brew coffee; cold brew, coconut cream, and maple syrup all organic. The people were so friendly and really excited about their products. Today I went to the shop for the first time and now I love DIRT even more! The shop is cool, perfect decor and vibe for their product and a shopping center called “Urban Edge”. I get a cold brew every Saturday so I decided to try something different, a friend raves about the “chunky monkey” which looked really good but I went with the “morning roar” and it was awesome, coffee, almond milk, dates, cashews, and many other yummy ingredients. They also have smoothly bowls, and one of my favorite things in the world, avocado toast. There is a cooler with mason jar salads also. While the food and beverages here are not cheap ($7.75 for a smoothy), the value for the money is worth it, organic and fresh, things that have been lacking in The Green Bay Area. I am a person that tracks macros and they provide the information I need and will adjust ingredients as needed for you based on your protein, carbs, and fat requirements. I cannot say enough about DIRT, I highly recommend and will be a regular here!

Klatch Coffee Ontario – Menu with Prices – 951 N Haven Ave, Ontario

The best Coffee in the IE, and possible in all of So Cal. They’ve been in the business for decades, and have unique relationships with their farms and farmers, so they have access to exclusive beans. Not only that, but they roast locally in Rancho Cucamonga so their coffee is always fresh. I love to get my whole beans here for roasting at home (using a Chemex, V60, or Toddy), but when I come into the store I love to grab an espresso based drink (Latte, Cappuccino etc) because their espresso is world class (literally nationally award winning). Their cold brew uses a blend called Crazy Goat that has notes of cocao and tobacco. It’s incredible. Best to drink it black (it’s sweet enough with just the notes). During the summer we purchase a growler from them and they refill it for $16 with their cold brew and it’s good for about 6-8 glasses. This particular location has limited indoor seating but ample outdoor seating. Always nice and clean with great WiFi. But let’s be honest, you come to Klatch because their coffee is perfect. Don’t mess around with the seasonal drinks or fancy stuff. Just get their coffee, sit and enjoy!

Matt Robbâ??s Biscuits & Brew – Menu with Prices – 800 Market St, Knoxville

If something is promoted by K Brew, then it must be good, right? This little shop replaced the K Brew location in the courthouse, but it’s not a sad replacement! According to Matt, he makes everything from scratch, and it shows in the food! The biscuits are a nice balance of slightly crispy on the outside, with fluffiness on the inside. My only thing was that they were a little crumbly, so they can fall apart easily when trying to eat it in the paper wrapper it comes in. Flavor wise, the biscuit isn’t too salty or sweet. It’s also a “build your own biscuit” style with both sweet and savory options. The homemade strawberry jam was a perfect compliment to the pillows of flavor. There are also coffee options, with the cold brew already coming sweetened with milk. Next time I’ll get it by itself to really get the full flavor of coffee, which was brewed smoothly. They have some ready to go items like salads also. Prices for biscuits are decent, with the drink and coffee options being pricier (cold brew was about $5). I wish they were open on the weekends, because they would be a great thing to have after the farmers market! They only opened this past Monday, so I look forward to seeing how they grow!

WB Law Coffee – Menu with Prices – 280 Wilson Ave, Newark

Can’t praise these guys enough, family run awesome service & fast to respond. Be it delivery or repairs for your varied coffee makers. Also make sure to try the Nitro Cold Brew! Not only is the taste the best cold brew I have ever had & I have had many, it will crank you up when feeling the need for a quick boost. Did I mention the taste?! We have had many products over the years and have seen tremendous quality improvements & additions can’t go wrong with Law Coffee! Highly recommend them as a vendor the service beats all others.

35Ë? NORTH COFFEE – Menu with Prices – 60 E San Francisco St, Santa Fe

Not just your average coffee house! 35 North is an atmosphere. This unique experience gives you relaxation vibes if you’re starting your day, great conversations if you sit at the breakfast bar. The food here is amazing! Your taste buds will definitely thank you afterwards!! Crafted coffee brewing at its best!! Their cold brew is phenomenal and if you feel like something New, try a “Dirty Rojas”! Cold Brew with Chai and Oat or Coconut milk. You’ll thank you me later!! Enjoy your visit to this hidden but now exposed gem and let me know your experience!! Bon appétit! Provecho!

Jittery Joe’s Coffee Menu with Prices 425 Barber St, Athens

Excellent cold brew beans. They will grind them for you at the correct size for cold brew also if you ask. I tried the samples of their medium and dark roast which ere also good, but the cold brew was my favorite. Freshly roasted beans make a huge difference. miles above anything you can buy in the local supermarkets. I have not tried the other local Roaster, 1000 faces yet so I can;t compare, but so far this place has the best tasting beans I have bought in GA. Staff was also very helpful and knowledgeable, and gave me free samples of everything I wanted to try that was available. Even walked out with a cup of cold brew on the house since I bought a can. This is not a coffee house though, its a roaster that just happens to serve some coffee on location, so don’t come here for a nice quiet place to study or anything like that. at least not this location.

Shuteye Coffee – Menu with Prices – 137 W 116th St, New York

Experience 1. Sampled cold brew and hot brew 2. Ordered cold brew au lait style (almond milk) 3. Bought cranberry granola bar and chocolate chip cookie. Assessment 1. Their roasted beans from Colombia when brewed cold contain flavor that is subtly fruity and smooth in texture. These same beans brewed hot contain similar flavor that is bolder and smokier. I prefer a the cold brew for these beans 2. The first order, though great in taste, had too much almond milk for an au lait. I ordered the same drink again but with less milk and it tasted just right with the coffee dominating in flavor. I suspect the light color of the brew may have played a factor in allowing the milk to saturate it much more easily. 3. I have not eaten these yet but will update once I so. Service The gentleman who assisted me today was very kind and approachable. He offered me samples of their available brews without me even asking. This is so important because it instantly personalizes the coffee drinking experience for the customer. He was knowledgeable about his coffee and its origins. This man made the experience very pleasurable.

Cafe Cabinet – Menu with Prices – 250 W Ocean Blvd B2, Long Beach

There are a lot of cool coffee shops and great coffee around in Long Beach. However, I see why this place is very special and deserves the 5-stars that it has up-kept. Located between Ocean Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue, is this hidden gem. The owner is very attentive and is very knowledgeable in coffee/beans – so you can ask for recommendations! Also this place is super dog-friendly. I see many dogs coming in and getting treats! I absolutely love the cold brew here! Also, if you ask–the owner can make the cold brew less strong for you, as I am more susceptible to caffeine than others. The cold brew has consistently been the Ethiopia cold brew, which I love best! They now serve scrumptious muffins! Last time I went, they were serving banana muffins, pumpkin muffins, and coffee muffins. I got to try the banana muffin which was was very filling and delicious! They also have cool artwork in the back of the shop and inside the restroom!

Kafn Coffee – Menu with Prices – 1019 E Palmer Ave, Glendale

Popped in here on Saturday for a little cold brew as part of my cold brew world tour 2019. The intention here was to fuel me for the walk over Adams hill. It certainly did the trick. The place is cool–arty vibe. Was moderately busy and still got a warm welcome from the barista. There was the typical coffee shop crowd meandering in an out. Couple of dads on duty dropping in to fuel up for the pending struggle of the nap. I grabbed a large cold brew and decided to forgo the first does-this-need-milk/creamer-taste and hit the sidewalk for the long walk. The cold brew was really tasty. It had a full body mouth feel and a long finish. The slightly nutty mid-palate gave way to kiss of coffee bitterness in the finish. The “bitter” was never over powering or unpleasant it was just the right amount to remind me that “this is cold brew!” (300 voice) and that it’s coffee, not dirty brown water. It is a cold brew that I will order again. probably not my favorite but very close to be honest. Looking forward to returning and getting it again and maybe one of the yummy looking pastries that stood waiting to be picked to the glass counter. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They take Apple Pay which is a huge plus for me and my wallet-forgetting-self. Parking looks a little tight in the area but I’m sure a spot around the corner wouldn’t be to far of a walk. There is a small park across the street you could relax in and let the little ones run around while you sip your gourmet brew.

The Harbinger Cafe & Bakery – Menu with Prices – 1107 King St, Charleston

Landed in Charleston late Thursday night and was desperate for some coffee the next morning. This shop was pretty close to where I was staying, so I stopped in. The front of the coffee shop is super cute. There is a bar along the front window where you can sit and look out at the people walking by, and there is plenty of seating around the back of the restaurant. There are also a few benches outside with a nice patio. I never steer away from a good iced drink, so I ordered a 16 oz cold brew which came to $4.50 after tax. This was truly authentic cold brew and the beans had been steeped for quite some time, so it was good and strong. But, this is not like Starbucks or Dunkin’ cold brew… it had a much bolder taste. If you’re a big coffee drinker, you’ll know what I mean. Harbinger also had an extensive display of pastries, juices, and other goods. The pastries themselves looked delicious and ran anywhere from $3-5, and many of them were actually vegan/vegetarian. I’ve already planned a second trip to this coffee shop to try one, which I rarely do. Overall, I’d recommend Harbinger. It’s in a small-town setting and has a warm, homey vibe. I don’t know if the coffee is worth $4.50, but it’s worth a try if you’re in the area.
