Great little coffee shop that always gets a visit when I’m in Bend. friendly, knowledgeable staff with an investment made on quality gear (Mahlkonig grinders) They usually have at least one Ethiopian roast on hand. Espresso drinks are awesome, pour over is just OK. On two visits I’ve noticed flooded beds on the pour resulting on long extraction times. (this is purely subjective, might be perfect for others)

Mojo Coffee Menu with Prices 15256 E Hampden Ave, Aurora

A wonderful addition to the neighborhood! This is a coffee shop AND an Ethiopian grocer. While I know nothing about Ethiopian ingredients, they DO carry Injera so I am very happy (Injera is a soft, Ethiopian flatbread.) Mojo, the coffee shop – very modern, upscale look. Nice sitting area with a TV and comfy chairs, along with regular tables and chairs. Their coffee is from the Denver-based Kaladi coffee, as well as an Ethiopian roast. They make most drinks with Kaladi’s dark roast, I think that the Ethiopian is more of a medium roast and ordered for an espresso shot or cappuccino. BUT! I give Mojo a whole bunch o’ stars because they carry about 5 sugar-free syrups! Woo hoo! On my second visit (in three days) I ordered a drip coffee with sugar-free white chocolate and it was so good, and fairly guilt free! So, if you want a good cup of coffee, a great place to work with a wonderful atmosphere – come on over to the south side of the metro area and visit Mojo’s Coffee!

Rig City Roasting Company Menu with Prices 1820 G St, Bakersfield

Finally! A true 3rd wave coffee standard in Bakersfield! Located in the downtown area, this small cafe front packs a great punch of various types of coffee beans from around the world. Stepping into the cafe, is an intimate place with some chairs and tables plus 2 places where a smaller group of 4 can sit in a living room type atmosphere with arm chairs, love seat and coffee table. It’s clean, modern, and speaks of Bakersfield’s culture. with After years of drinking second wave coffee (ie. Starbucks, etc.), there have been a couple of 3rd wave coffee roasters and cafe that have come to the scene, which I am excited about. While I travel the world, I intentionally go out of my way to hit the best coffee spots in different cities, including the most awarded coffee roaster in the US. I chemex with my own scale, burr grinder, and pour with my bona vita kettle set at 205 degrees. With saying that, Rig City does not disappoint. In fact, in my opinion, they are hands down the best roasters and serve the best coffee in town. (Please do not destroy your coffee with cream and sugar) I am totally impressed with the staff. All very friendly, and they know what they are doing. They know how to set the right ground levels along with the pull the coffee with their light, medium roast coffees. I recommend their Ethiopian or their Honduran Chichen. Here are my recommendations for the pour over that I really enjoy: – Ethiopian: grind level 12, pull at 4.5 – Honduran: grind level 12, pull at 4 (They will also grind the coffee and pull of you have your own preference) Other drinks that I have tried: – Cold Brew – excellent – Pineapple Matcha – good – Latte – excellent – Espresso – amazing They have various hot and cold teas also. I have not tried their pastries but they have a nice assortment and they always look fresh. This is my new go to spot for coffee and meetings. Here is my overall scorecard for this place: Atmosphere: 4.5 stars Service: 5 stars Coffee: 4.5 stars Overall: I give this a solid 4.5 but I will proudly score it a 5! The only suggestion I would have for this place is futile but I’ll post it anyways: 1. The place smells more like food than a coffee roaster due to the door to the business next door being opened. Again, this is just something I noticed. 2. They use the v-60… I personally wish they used a chemex, which I feel pulls better, but, again most people probably don’t even know the difference. Thanks Rig City!!!! You all rock!!!!

Boxcar Social – Menu with Prices – 1208 Yonge St, Toronto

Aesthetic shop with thought given to every little detail. Coffee selection: Nice selection of roasted coffee from both Canada and the US. Surprised to find that they were offering prices which were competitive with the roaster’s own pricing. They had various coffees from Luna, Seth Taylor CBD, and SEY in stock. Pour-over: Conducted on a GINA as immersion. Had an Ecuadorian one from SEY and then an Ethiopian one from Luna. Served in a cute carafe from Hario and pretty handmade mugs. Espresso: I think I had the Ecuadorian coffee from SEY. Was surprised to see them serving quality sparkling water with the espresso. Andrew made my drinks and I got the impression from my brief conversation with him that he’s quite knowledgable about coffee. He was well acquainted with roasters from both the US and Canada; and was even familiar with a small roaster in Toronto that I really like. It was funny to see that he brought several of his own bags of coffee to work.

Dark Moon Coffee Roasters – Menu with Prices – 11041 S Eastern Ave #115, Henderson

Order: Pour Over Price: $6.50 Positives: One of the best pour overs I’ve ever had, the baristas are INCREDIBLY knowledgeable and happy to share the process with you Negatives: Still really wish I could get an iced pour over out here but it doesn’t detract from the amazingness that is Dark Moon tldr: Dark Moon is an incredible coffee shop and the best we visited in the larger Vegas area. Their beans are impeccably roasted, their staff is insanely knowledgeable and more than willing to help, they have a variety of very unique drinks, and their seating is fantastic for working. Short of not making iced pour overs I think Dark Moon is practically perfect. Thoughts: Still day 2 (though we came back on day 3 twice), and stop number 8 on our coffee, food, and desert tour. Dark Moon was our post lunch coffee stop and blew us away. We’d already been to several great coffee shops but Dark Moon took it to a whole new level. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, walking us through the process and tasting notes for several of the beans, explaining their favorites and why they were their favorites. Later, while we were sitting and getting some work done, we even overhead one of the barista’s walking a group of people through their entire process of brewing a pour over as he did it. I’ve never seen that done at a cafe before, and it didn’t seem like it was a chore for him at all. The staff of Dark Moon seem to genuinely love coffee and want all their customers to love it too (I’m on team love coffee if it isn’t obvious). While on this trip we only tried a pour over, during the course of our visits we had an espresso and tonic, two other pour overs, this insane smoked blueberry magical potion drink, and a cappuccino. The only one that wasn’t some the best coffee I’d ever had was the cappuccino, the espresso was a little dark for my tasted and didn’t have a depth of flavor that I’ve had in some other places. Everything is was ridiculously good, the pour overs all had their own unique, complex flavors, you knew that you were drinking a different cup of coffee each time. The espresso and tonic was a drink I had never tried before and is now one of my new favorites. It’s a crazy mix of tangy bitterness from the tonic and punch from the espresso. It’s honestly a bit hard to describe but it’s an amazing drink that I would highly recommend you try, unless you just don’t like tonic water. The blueberry drink thing was more alchemy that coffee I think. It involved smoking a glass, mint, blueberries, espresso (duh), and some other things I think? While it would never really replace my go to coffee it was an incredibly unique coffee experience. Honestly I think you can really only get this level of greatness at a coffee shop with an intense level of care and commitment to your craft, and Dark Moon drips care and commitment. You feel it when you walk in and talk to the staff, and you taste it in every sip of coffee. Dark Moon isn’t just the best cafe and roaster I visited in Vegas, it’s one of the best coffee shops I have every been to, and I’ve been to a lot. Anyone that can get to Dark Moon should, even if you don’t like coffee, if given the chance they might just change your mind. Dark Moon, you are truly masters of your craft and I applaud your commitment to excellence and care….at least I would if I wasn’t clutching a cup of your delicious coffee.

Buzzy Coffee Co. – Menu with Prices – 120 E Market St, Indianapolis

This is a great little place. Not only did I have a variety of type of coffee drinks to choose from I also got to choose which coffee bean I wanted. it made with. The Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is an excellent bean for many different coffee drinks. The coffee beans are roasted by someone the proprietor knows and grew up with. My first 2 times here I ordered the pour-over because it was early in the morning and I wanted/needed that strong coffee to get me going which it did quite well. I only had a little cream added to my cup and off I went enjoying my new go-to place just a short distance away from where I work.

Amy’s Merkato – Menu with Prices – 5710 Rainier Ave S, Seattle

Amy’s Merkato is an excellent Ethiopian restaurant as well as small market that contains all sorts of wonderful things that await the customer. The woman behind the counter was One of the owners and she was so helpful and polite. I specifically came here to find the spices for making Ethiopian tea and not only did they have the spice mix at a reasonable price, but they also had Ethiopian black tea! I’m so I bought the spices and the tea as well as a few other items. The smell market area also has some Ethiopian coffee as well as snacks, spices and even sone Ethiopian kitchenware, including coffee sets for the Ethiopian tea Ceremony. The selection is not huge but they also have injera if you want to purchase some and take it home. I bought an Ethiopian tea while I was waiting and examining the spices. The owner told me that there was no star anise in the mix I purchased because many people complained about the licorice taste, but she added some in for me at no extra cost. I’m a fan of anise and I also wanted the tea to taste as it did in Ethiopia. Just so you know, when I got home I made the tea and took just a little bit of the spices and put them in a mortar and pestle and then added them to the tea. Wow, the tea was perfect! I also decided to get a meat and veggie sampler for lunch to go and it was perfect. Not only was there a lot but I also was given more than enough injera, the Ethiopian bread to go with it. I also recommend that you try some of their deserts. The baklava was great! Superb tea, great food, excellent dessert and fantastic service. I give this place five stars! Please check this place out and make sure you get a tea!

Thomas Hammer Coffee Roasters – Menu with Prices – 122 N Wall St, Spokane

I absolutely love tomas hammer. Their premade combos for coffee are excellent. It was the first coffee I had in Spokane and still a favorite. This town has so many amazing coffee shops. It is hard to say what is the best, but for me their espresso roast it a medium to mild roast that is as smooth as it gets. If your a dark roast fan you can’t beat Atticus. I however think this place is exactly what coffee should be.

Espresso Fino Menu with Prices 222 Gold Ave SW, Albuquerque

I first visited Espresso Fino two years ago, and had one of the most mind-blowingly delicious lattes of my middle-aged life. Ever since, Iâ??ve been trying to get back in. My timing never seems to align with the shopâ??s hours, and Iâ??m already on probation for an attempted breaking-and-entering to get one of Gregâ??s handcrafted drinks. I stopped by this afternoon, expectation building in my throat, despite my best efforts to damp down my enthusiasm â?¦ I closed my eyes and reached to the caféâ??s handle with my sweaty palm, twisting the handle slowlyâ?¦ success! Praise be to the red-eyed god of espresso! Endorphins flooded my caffeine-starved adrenal system. Verily, today fate has smiled upon me. . . As expected, Espresso Finoâ??s lattes remain easily the best in Albuquerque, and indeed among the best Iâ??ve ever tried (and Iâ??ve traveled through several countries in search of the perfect latte). . . Greg is a fixture of the downtown Albuquerque scene, a true gem of a barista and a downright good human being. He seems to know all his customers by name, and has such a nice and laid-back personality. Subpar geographer, but a perfect barista. . . I just observed something today: while a certain well-known chain coffee shop (letâ??s just call it the Evil Green Mermaid) pumps out ridiculously loud music seemingly intended to shoo away post-purchase customers, Greg keeps the music chill and relaxing (as I type this, Satchmo is dribbling into my ears). Itâ??s a little thing, but makes this place just that much more special.

Cup – Fine Coffee & Roasters – Menu with Prices – 339 Fleming Rd B-1, Charleston

Delicious, cutting-edge coffee drinks made all the more exciting because of the freshness of the beans–they purchase raw coffee beans and roast themselves. You can taste the difference. The names of the single origin farms are clearly displayed so you know exactly where your coffee is coming from. They are doing everything locally including making their own specialty whipped cream for espresso drinks. I had their unique saffron-infused espresso, and the owner Robbie explained that the Turks used to use saffron for a coffee flavor enhancement. Go find them at the farmer’s markets and chat them up.

Indah Coffee – Menu with Prices – 1332 Main St, Columbia

I thoroughly enjoy coffee. But I don’t always understand the verbiage as to what describes a blend or concept. I walked in today and was greeted by Nick. Nick took the time to explain the differences between his coffee varieties and why I should try a pour over (he even gave me a sample). I started with the pour over that just filled the room with an awesome aroma. Nick noticed the coffee was hot and my hesitance to immediately indulge, so he made for some great small talk of the great places the area had to offer. The pour over was wonderful and I left with a second cup of cold brew (which was delightful as well). You can tell this place will be around for a while because nick is so well connected with the community. I’ll surely be back to Nick’s welcoming coffee shop.

Fresh Roast Coffee Company – Menu with Prices – 611 St Francis, Wichita

The number of times I tried to get up early to visit Fresh Roast is a story unto itself, but when I finally managed to make it to Clifton Square before 11:30 on a Saturday, I was surprised to find – like apparently all places in this complex – what once used to be a house, with the interior minimally gutted to turn it into a place of business. In this case, the small space had some counters lining it for the preparation and storage of coffee stuff, and the centerpiece of the room, occupying easily a quarter of it, was the large roaster doodad. These were obviously folks serious about coffee, though not so serious on establishing a proper coffeeshop. There’s not even enough space to separate the customers from the employees. You enter the place and you’re standing next to the cashier, with the barista extraorinare prepping drinks not far behind him. You place your order and then you can sit on one of the few stools in the middle of the room while you watch it being prepared. While the espresso machine certainly looks fancy, they’re still tamping on a bathroom scale, and the basic black coffee I ordered was prepared using a pour-over method that’s both retro and bleeding-edge trendy at the same time. The end result is a cup that’s very rich up front and ends with a smooth finish on the palette. I was drinking this as I was driving around the city looking for someplace for lunch, and by the time I was nearing the end of the cup I was flying on a caffeine high that is unparalleled though legal means. Wichita doesn’t have a lot of coffee roasters (the only ones that come to mind are Fresh Roast and the Spice Merchant), so that combined with the incredibly kitschy space make Fresh Roast a sight to behold.

OneDo Coffee Menu with Prices 913 S Lakewood Ave, Baltimore

What a joy to stumble into 1Do this weekend, tucked cozily behind Safeway. Right as I walked in their artistic and clean coffee infographic detailing their robust coffee, espresso, and tea offerings caught my eye. I enjoyed a deliciously balanced honey lavender latte (made with your choice of any of 4 different nut milks, or any dairy milk) while my friend, a barista himself, had an Ethiopian Ardi pour over. To go with the drinks, we had a noteworthy soft boiled egg avocado toast drizzled with a drinkable cilantro aioli. Wow. To put an emphasis on the experience, the highly diligent, thoughtful, and likable staff serves their patrons in a creative and fully thought through setting. A vibrant micro garden, gift-worthy merchandise display, and even dainty chrome silverware round out the subtle touches that distinguish this cafe and put it at the top of the list to visit in Baltimore.
