Diablo & Sons had great service, a creative and delicious menu and a nice patio on 8th and Idaho. We would absolutely recommend enjoying your meal at Diablo & Sons. To elaborate further, our trip downtown for tacos somewhere on an outdoor patio began with a disappointing visit to another business located on the cor. ner of 8th and Bannock where the only two available outdoor tables hadn’t been either cleared or cleaned. When we asked the server if he would be willing to wipe it down, he refused, then justified it with a comment to the effect of, “It’s only dust” and “Trust me, it’s not really dirty.” So, we informed him that we were not staying, to which he replied, “Good.” This is the beginning of our story with Diablo & Sons, who saved our dining experience today. After the dirty table snafu, we walked over to Diablo & Sons, enjoyed some appetizers, house crafted beverages, and a few tacos – all served with a clean table and exceptional hospitality. Thank you Diablo & Sons!

South Market (Pensacola) – Menu with Prices – 232 E Main St, Pensacola

My friend and her wife just moved to Pensacola for military training and they’ve been eyeing this place for the past 6 months. This past Sunday afternoon, we were at a crossroads of needing to find a new restaurant in the area that none of us had tried yet. That said, she mentioned South Market so it was only fitting for us to give it a whirl. It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit on the patio, but you can tell they do not take the best care of their outdoor area. Granted, I don’t know the first thing that goes into caring for an establishment just off the coast with all the moisture and salt. However, they were not busy at all so have someone grab a broom and clean up all the crap on the patio. There was leftover food under the table and everything felt dirty and unstable. I know my next comment is brutal, but needs to be said. Our waiter literally had zero personality in his voice or actions. I’m not requesting fake service or obnoxiously joyful/bubbly charisma, but in that moment, I just wanted to feel like he cared…about anything. He just walked up to the table, took our orders, delivered our orders without saying a single word, walked off. The time he came to our table, he didn’t say anything and actually tried take our spinach artichoke dip while I was eating. I immediately stated that I was still eating it since I was mid-scoop when he tried to take it. Fyi, the spin dip is delicious and well worth it so fight for every bit ? I ordered the Grouper Fish Tacos which were just ok. I was honestly on the fence between 2 or 3 stars, but you can my decision. Maybe too generous considering what unfolded for our first visit, but we will be checking out other restaurant options in the area before coming back to this one.

Chick-fil-A – Menu with Prices – 1600 Bradley Park Dr, Columbus

This location was able to meet and exceed our expectations for catering our sons birthday party. I showed up to pick 50 kids meals and they were so amazing with making sure everything was hot and fresh. They helped load up my vehicle and made sure I had everything needed. Thank you guys for making my sons birthday great with your food and exceptional service. Best location in Columbus GA!

Prohibition Gastrohouse Midtown – Menu with Prices – 40 Eglinton Ave E, Toronto

Terrible experience all around. I showed up with a friend after work and when we tried to seat ourselves at a free table when the hostess made no attempt to assist we were rushed very rudely by another hostess outside on the patio. This hostess informed us that we had to be on a wait list and reserve the table at the front so we obliged and went back and politely asked for a table at the back from the hostess. Ironically she reserved the same table we tried to sit at but when we got there other people were already seated (without reserving). The hostess apologized and frantically found us another table on the patio. I was very upset and asked to speak to the manager about the hostess that denied us seating. When I pointed out the hostess she informed that that WAS the manager. I still asked to speak to her and this manager was not apologetic AT ALL and informed us that we need to follow the procedures and that we are still not on the wait list and that we cannot sit at our current table. Incredulous, my friend and I stormed back. Definitely would not recommend this place or ever come back. Ashley was the managerâ??s name. I would like to express my gratitude for the professional hostess who tried to initially help us and the one who listened to my grievances at the end and professionally addressed them (I believe her name was Katerina).

Newt’s Crab Trap – Menu with Prices – 2420 N Dixie Hwy, Hollywood

Location- This is inside of a dirty, unorganized hole-in-the-wall bodega. It is hard to find. Find the Bodega and go in. It’s in the back. Ambiance- It is dirty. Table is dirty. Dust and splattered dried on food on the shelf just above and left of our table. Very limited seating. Mistmatched bar stools. 3 small high tops. 1 3-seat lower table with molded plastic seats. They play music in the kitchen, and you will have to listen to that. Its mostly 80s alternative and rock. Timing- They literally only cook one tables’ food at a time. They do not cook more than one thing at once, even if using different cooking methods. Most people ordered the steamed crabs and shrimp, those come out quickly and are *smothered with Old Bay Seasoning. LOTS. I had fish tacos. After about 40 minutes from the time we ordered, Newt came out and said he didn’t have the Mahi I ordered and said he could only do the snapper at that price. After an hour, we still had no food. Bf went up and asked them. The staff (Newt’s son?) was rude to him and told him “others were before you” and “we are working on it”. Again, they do not have the ability to cook more than one person’s food at a time, apparently. So prepare for a LONG wait, listening to 80’s music blasted from a boombox in the kitchen. Food- it was just ok, and definitely not my style. The fish tacos have very dry slaw and Grey Poupon on them. Everything else is smothered in Old Bay Seasoning and garlic sauce. You have to get your drinks in the bodega and pay up front, then come back to eat. They do not serve the tables. Bf waited at the bar to order. They did bring the food out at least, an hour and 10 minutes after we ordered it (…for fish tacos and shrimp & grits). ?Also, most of the meals are $25-32 each. $$$. Overall- Yelp really let us down on this one. 40-some 5-star reviews? Completely unbelievable to me based on my visit. But, apparently someone out there likes this laid-back no-frills salt-filled dirty spot. All the more power to ya. Just not my cup of tea.

La Taqueria Downtown – Menu with Prices – 236 Grove St, Jersey City

If you are craving authentic tacos in the JC area, look no further. No, they don’t service chicken tacos. No, don’t ask for cheese on your tacos…that’s not what this place is about. They do a great job keeping the food authentic and delicious. Let me start by saying the inside is small and loud but the outdoor patio is amazing! Plenty of room and a fun atmosphere and also much less hot and stuffy! There is almost always a wait here and you need to make sure your entire party is there before you even think about trying to be seated lol trust me…it won’t work. The food is very good. They start by bringing out fresh delicious chips and heavenly salsa. Do yourself a favor and Never say no to the guac. You will be full of regret if you do. It is creamy and flavorful. Perfect combination with those dope chips. The tacos like I mentioned before are very authentic. My favorites are the carnitas and the fish tacos. I’m craving them as I write this review. They have a lot of unique taco options as well like stomach, tongue, and salted beef if you are feeling more adventurous. They have a variety of drinks as well. The margaritas are STRONG. You’ll be feeling yourself after one or two of those. If you enjoy fresh, authentic food in a fun atmosphere, get yourself over to this place immediately.

Tony’s Street Tacos – Menu with Prices – 6114 Root Rd, Spring

I rarely give five star reviews, but I have to for this new place. Tony’s Street Tacos replaced Northampton Pizza in the EZ4U. I stopped in today to give it a try. I ordered a shrimp taco and a brisket taco on corn tortillas. Tony had me sample the brisket–it was wonderful, nice and tender even in the lean parts, and well seasoned. He could spin off a barbecue place if he wanted. I had some cilantro rice and grilled onions on the brisket taco. The shrimp taco came with three nice plump shrimp and some very good slaw, with jicama, cabbage, and other items to give it a good crunch. I ordered the special Diablo sauce, and Tony gave me green and red salsas as well. He made the Diablo sauce on the spot, and it’s 99 cents extra. He warned me that the Diablo sauce was very hot, and the red sauce was hot. The green sauce is a milder one. I tried all three. I think I am slightly more sensitive than average to hot food. The Diablo sauce had a nice heat but was not at all overwhelming. A great combination of garlic, asiago sauce and pico de gallo. I thought the red sauce was actually a bit hotter. The green sauce is milder, and has a very fresh flavor. I liked them all, but I think the Diablo sauce is worth the upcharge. If you pay in credit you pay next door at the EZ4U. I threw in a Dr. Pepper made with sugar, which was quite fine. The interior is very casual but sufficiently attractive and comfortable if you want to stay in. I was served by the owner with all possible courtesy. All in all, I can’t say enough good things about it.

Valerie’s Taco Stand – Menu with Prices – 2213 El Camino Real suite d, Oceanside

We came to visit our friends in Oceanside for 3 days, and ended up coming to Valeries twice, because it was that good! My first visit, I had initially ordered the al pastor and the Diablo, decided last minute that I wanted to try the carne asada (not sure if this is north county thing, but certain tacos came with whole beans?). I added the carne asada and repeated I wanted no beans, it somehow became two extra carne asada tacos. I had not realized I paid for 4 tacos…oh well, I was a trooper and ate all 4 (my friends offered no help as they were full off two tacos each and wanted to see my attempt). The fullness pain hit after and I hated myself, but the tacos were so good! No regrets! The tacos are a bit more on the expensive side but they are massive and the tortilla is bigger than your street tacos. This tortilla tasted like their homemade, a mixture of corn and flour perhaps, and tasted like perfection, I’ve never been more impressed with a tortilla as I was with Valeries. The al pastor was the best of the bunch, great flavors and has a delicious smokiness. The carne asada were over cooked so it was too chewy, but the flavors were great too. I did not enjoy the Diablo as much as the breading of the shrimps and the toppings overshadowed the shrimp and the breading was a big mushy. I think it would have been better if the shrimps were grilled. The place is super clean and the salsa bar is delicious as well. They had the light orange creamy salsa which is the spiciest one there (maybe Serrano peppers based), had major heat but such great flavors that I kept dousing it on. We came back in he next day after having tacos at another spot since they ran out of elotes the day before. I ordered another al pastor taco while my friends had the elotes.

Tomo Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 7315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville

Strangely sushi bars in Knoxville are 0 for 2 with me. I showed up at 815 pm on Friday and the place was half full. Besides the bar only 3 tables were available. Two of which were 4 tops and dirty. The third was a 6 top. The two dirty table were right in front of the door and the other in the back. The maitre’d wanted us to sit at the bar but I dislike the bar when I want to converse face to face with someone. I then asked for the table in the back when I was told they reserve it only for large parties (large parties of 6 apparently). He suggested we wait and he would clean off one of the four tops but honestly, I dislike sitting by the outside door in chilly weather. Additionally, it’s high traffic and people are constantly bumping into you or whacking you with coats etc etc etc. I asked again for the table in the back and he outright refused. I asked to speak to someone or have him ask the management and he refused to do even that. Now I’ve been in restaurant business a long time. You always take the customer in front of you over the ones that COULD possibly show up. I also know that pushing two 4 top tables will sit 6 people. I was ordering sushi. I wasn’t planning on being there long. The guy actually let me walk out the door rather than seat me where I asked to be seated. I don’t care if they have the best sushi in town, I’d rather eat a Roseanne Barr’s rotten, sun-roasted asshole than give this place any of my money. Pass on this place. Go somewhere else. If you can’t even get service at the door what kind of service can you expect at the table?

Bob’s Butternut Hut – Menu with Prices – 215 N 2nd St, Springfield

Best Dive Bar in Springfield! I have been coming to the Butternut hut for about 2 years and thought it was only right that I post a review after my most recent trip. The Hut is a small dark bar with great staff and great beer specials. You can always count on catching a Cubs game there or if your a Cardinals fan I guess they carry your games as well. Free popcorn is always available and is sad as it may seem for me that’s a huge plus. The outdoor patio doesn’t have a bar but it allows those of us who smoke a chance to step outside and enjoy a cigarette with our drink. On a few occasions I’ve seen some great local jam bands rock out the small little patio. The butternut hut is dirty, cheap, and inviting. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Street Taco – Menu with Prices – 68 North Marietta Pkwy NW Suite 106, Marietta

This place has a lot of potential but the tacos are tiny and everything is generally overpriced/not a great value. We came on Sunday night and it was not at all crowded, though the rest of the food court options were nearly packed. Ambiance. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating – probably the most dedicated / non-shared seating in Marietta Square market. The patio is dog friendly and there were two other dogs outside as well. I did not see any bowls for dogs. This is probably the best place to sit if you want to eat outdoors at the market. Service. Our cashier was helpful and was very familiar with the menu. No complaints for this fast casual service. The food came out quickly, though they left our table number. You have to self bus your dishes. Food. The tacos have a lot of promise and were pretty unique, though not the best tacos I’ve ever had. The drinks were pretty good. But $40+ for four tacos ($3-4/each), a side of “charred broccoli,” and two Classico margaritas ($9/each) for my wife and me was a little crazy, and we left hungry. Overall, there are so many other restaurant options in the Market in addition to sit-down restaurants in Marietta Square. I would much rather have a full service for this price (in Marietta). No immediate plans to return here.

Paco’s Tacos Menu with Prices 1304 E 51st St, Austin

It’s really unfortunate that a neighborhood place has to be so difficult about their five dollar credit card limit. I literally haven’t experienced a restaurant who does this in over five years. It’s super antiquated and they are plenty busy not to have this rule. The funny thing is the only person that ever makes a stink about this is the owner. And she was super rude about it. I tip every time on my $2.75 Taco, I probably get tacos here at least 2-3 times a week. The breakfast tacos are really the only thing that I like and you can’t really mess those up. There are plenty of other places for good Mexican food, the lunch tacos in my opinion are terrible. If I’m gonna have to go out of my way to get cash, I’m gonna go to an authentic Mexican food trailer that’s closer to my house. When I said this to the owner, she said that’s fine and didn’t care. As a business owner myself, I know that losing a customer over $1.50 and a few cents on your merchant account isn’t what’s important, it’s about the word of mouth that your customers have. As a happy customer I literally tell people about this place all the time. As and unhappy customer I have the same tool. Is that worth it to you, Paco’s?! Then I asked for for salsas that weren’t dirty outside (apparently it was just thawed ice) and the owner was trying to be extra nice but her daughter made a snide comment about them not being dirty. I know you don’t care about this one customer… But you should. That’s just good business.

Ritz Barbecue Menu with Prices 302 N 17th St, Allentown

We were excited to try out the mom and pop looking restaurant, especially intrigued by the sign outside that says they make their own ice cream. In anticipation of a special desert I decided to order something simple. I ordered a grilled ham and cheese as well as french fries. My husband ordered cheeseburger and fries. Food came rather timely, but before the first bite of my grilled ham and cheese something didn’t seem right, it had a very odd smell, and after my first and only bite the best I can say is that it was not made with butter, but more likely made with a very cheap cooking spray and cooked on a very dirty grill. My husband reported his burger to be just a basic burger, nothing special. Staff did not check on us until they came to ask if I would like a box. I informed her that no I would not like a box because it was nasty. I was not even asked if I would like something else. The grilled ham and cheese was taken off our bill. As I was paying I did get to see some of the kitchen, it was very dirty, with food on the floor. If I had noticed that on my way in I would not have even bothered to order. Because of the awful sandwich and minimal waitress attention, I can not even comment on the ice cream that they make themselves.
