I would call myself a “Thai Food” Lover! I usually eat Thai Food about 5 days a week. I have been all over Colorado and have eaten at most of the Authentic Thai places. Today I have seen this place pop up on yelp and so I decided to give it a try. I started with the Vegetable Egg Rolls which I would say are “just ok”. They are the same traditional frozen egg rolls I have had at other places. I personally prefer them made by hand, especially if I am paying $5.50. Next the young man brought out my Thai Tea which I was surprised to see it come to my table with a sealed lid, as if it was made outside of the restaurant. This is the 1st time I have ever seen this. Most of the time the Thai Tea is made fresh daily at the restaurant. The Thai tea was too sweet to drink. Not sure how many grams of sugar were in it, but it was overpowering the tea. Next was the Nam Tok Noodle Soup which also was “just ok”. When it comes to Thai Soups it’s all about the broth and flavor, Only 2 Pork meatballs were a disappointment! For a $11.00 soup I expected more. I have had $6 Thai soups that would blow this soup out the water. I am very picky about my Thai because I eat it almost daily, maybe my expectations for supposed to be “AUTHENTIC THAI” are very high. Based on my visit today this is a decent place for people who don’t really know Authentic Thai Food.

Noodle House – Menu with Prices – 4800 Baseline Rd A-110, Boulder

One of the more authentic places for Asian food in Boulder–this is exactly what I’ve been looking for in this town. And the boss lady is an absolute gem! The restaurant is extremely clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. The name of the restaurant is Noodle House, but they also serve hot pot–seems like it’s the only place in Boulder that does. They have lunch specials daily for both noodle dishes and hot pot combos too. My boyfriend and I got the beef noodle soup with the house noodles. The house noodles are delicious–you can taste the homemade freshness through the texture and consistency of the noodles. The beef noodle soup is flavored nicely and in a very authentic way. The mild spicy has the perfect amount of kick to it. The beef is also cooked to a tender perfection. Super flavorful and well seasoned. The only thing I didn’t love about the beef noodle soup is the fact that it includes broccoli instead of something more traditional like bok choy, but honestly this is all around a decent bowl of beef noodle soup. Not Taiwanese style, but good. The owner is the sweetest woman and honestly feels like a mother figure with how kind she was. Can’t wait to come back and try the hot pot when it gets a bit cooler. Noodle House, you’ve won my heart.

Changs Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 3620 N Freeway Blvd #310, Sacramento

So this has been our go to for Thai food in Natomas since we first tried it when they opened. We been here a few times already. So far we had Drunken Noodle, seafood salad, spicy seafood, Thai friend rice and basil fried rice, and maybe some others I can’t remember. We order everything Thai Hot. They were all delicious, spicy, and full of Thai flavor! Lots of protein and portion size was great! But the best part??? How authentic and flavorful everything was! That’s why I love Thai food, lots of delicious flavor! I can’t have my Thai food watered down! Now, we tried all the Thai spots in Natomas, and each spot has something different that we liked. Most weren’t perfect, but close enough. I used to have a diff spot for drunken noodle, basil chicken, basil fried rice, boat noodle soup, etc. Now that I found Chang’s, I haven’t been back to any of them except one for my noodle soups! But I’m hoping Chang’s start offering Boat Noodle Soup or Tom Yum noodle soup soon! I’m super picky about my Thai food because I’ve had the best of the best in SoCal, Bay Area, and Thai Temples. I like my Thai food authentic and not watered down. Im most picky about my Pad Thai, so I haven’t tried Chang’s pad Thai, yet, in fear of disappointment. But I will. I plan on trying a lot of other stuff, and I’m sure I won’t be disappointed bc so far everything has been perfect! We haven’t actually ate at the restaurant, but they have always been super nice and accommodating over the phone. Very friendly when we pick up as well. We had a lot of spots in Natomas get our orders wrong, but Chang’s haven’t gotten any of our orders wrong, yet… hoping they continue this streak! Tonight, we are having Drunken Noodle and Basil Fried Rice again!!! I’m telling you guys, they have the best!!! :))))

Tom Yum Thai Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 233 Regent Ave W, Winnipeg

Been going there for a long time. Went back( today, they changed owner, new menu.) I ordered crab blossom, Thai rice noodle soup and pad Thai. So disappointed, the Thai rice noodle soup is just imitation of viet pho with really sweet soup, pad Thai was really sweet and crab blossom came with really sweet sauce. Over all its not an authentic thai resto. It’s a restaurant for foreign who doesn’t know what’s real Thai food is….. Everything just extra sweet. I had a long day n the meal was disappointing.

Penn’s Thai House – Menu with Prices – 724 W Sunset Rd, Henderson

BLUE COLLAR THAI It’s the closest Thai restaurant to my home. I recalled when it was the foodie hot spot for all of Henderson. Food critic Max Jacobson in 2012 named Penn’s Thai House the best Thai restaurant in Henderson. Like finding a diamond on the street. After all it’s located in a modest business strip center surrounded by auto body repair shops. It certainly wasn’t the aesthetics that brought diners in. Yelpers also flocked in droves too like lemmings. LoL. The frenzy felt artificial. I visited a couple times but never really was stimulated to writing a review. This most recent lunch visit changed my mind. Not because there was a table of Thai ladies or the Thai servers’ mannerism. It was simply the food. Granted the egg flower soup wasn’t Thai. But the peanut-less Pork Pad Thai and Thai Boat Noodle Soup just reminded me of what Thai cuisine should truly taste like. Lunch specials are of excellent value. Noodle soups are delightful and generously filled with expertly seasoned meats.

Sweet Rice JP Thai Sushi – Menu with Prices – 697 Centre St, Boston

Key takeaway: very solid addition to JP with good Thai and sushi offerings and decent performance across both cuisines. 1 star – service was quick and friendly, very attentive 1 star – ambiance was lovely with really pretty drop lanterns, sushi bar and window bar seating areas, and pretty cool murals against the chalkboard-style wall 1 star – value was on point, with most dinner entrees running $10-15 including generous servings of duck, veggies, and noodles. Our scorpion soft shell crab roll was $12 and while it over-indexed on rice just the slightest bit, it was a LARGE roll and also filled with nice, crunchy crab. 0.5 star – taste was a-ok, nothing mind-blowing. I think Soup Shack has better noodle soups to be honest…my khao soi was a bit too sweet and not as spicy or flavorful as I like it. My partner’s duck noodle soup was too salty, and her noodles were a bit clumpy, and we both agreed the scorpion roll was under-salted such that we actually needed to dunk it in soy sauce. 0.5 star – innovation. Nothing to write home about although all the good Thai and Japanese sushi standbys like basil fried rice, pad thai, khao soi, and dragon rolls, scorpion rolls, etc.

Vientiane Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 12-208 Marion St, Winnipeg

This is now my wife and my favourite Thai place. We used to go to some others that we really liked but were blown away when we found this place because of the coupon on the back of the register receipt at the Marion Safeway. How good is that?. At first we thought it was a Vietnamese restaurant because of the name ( even though it says Thai)…whoops. But were pleasantly surprised. We ordered like we do at the other places and the waitress started to laugh. We asked if it was too much and she said” I think so”. So we only ordered the large Tom Yum Soup, Massaman and Crunchy Noodle dish with 2 salad rolls. We knew we were in trouble when the soup came. It was huge and delicious. Then the first plate came and it was about twice the size of what we normally get. The Massaman was so tasty. Then the Crunchy Noodle came and it was also quite large. We didn’t want to finish everything because it was so much food, but we sat there so long enjoying it all that we didn’t realize the plates were clean except for the 2 rolls. We took those home. They were a fantastic treat the next day. This has now become our favourite Thai restaurant and we don’t go to the others any more and we have brought our friends here who all agreed with us. By the way the parking can become challenging if someone parks behind you and you have a bigger vehicle. I must admit, I make sure I go to the Safeway on Marion first to buy some stuff so I get the coupon which saves us quite a bit and we can order more.

Old Taro Taiwanese Noodle – Menu with Prices – 4370 Thornton Ave, Fremont

One of my (and my mom’s) favorite beef noodle soup places ever! It’s definitely a hole in the wall, so usually on weekdays there is no wait. Occasionally, on weekends during lunch there will be a wait – a lot of families love the lamb hot pots (?), and it’s very family friendly. The place is not big, there are probably only 10 tables total, with 4 seats at each table. The spicy beef noodle soup is so good – it reminds me a lot of beef noodle soups found in Taiwan, and they give 3-4 pieces of meat in each bowl. They also offer the sour mustard greens é?¸è? and hot sauce on the side. Personally, I don’t add anymore hot sauce – it’s spicy enough for me. And recently, they just added “thick” noodles that look like handmade noodles. I love thicker noodles, the texture is much chewier than the original thin noodle. Occasionally, I get the plate of pork ears, since I like to dip them in hot sauce. Price of a bowl of beef noodle soup is $10.25 right now, which is similar to other beef noodle places around Fremont. I come here probably once a week or so, sometimes more. I just got it yesterday for take-out, and I know for a fact I’ll be getting lunch here again in 2 days. The service isn’t amazing, but it’s very efficient. I don’t expect great service at small, family run places like these though. There is no decor, but prices are decent, food is pretty great, and service is efficient. I highly recommend giving the beef noodle soup a try.

Lotus Thai & Khmer Cuisines – Menu with Prices – 1412 Rosemarie Ln, Stockton

A charming and locally owned restaurant serving authentic Thai and Khmer cuisines. A good restaurant is few and far between. Lotus is absolutely a gem and a welcome addition to the Central Valley. Ambiance is modern and sophisticated yet casual. Interior decor is hip and trendy with just the perfect touch of culture. The attention to detail in each dishes were impeccable and the platings were aesthetically pleasing. We eat with our eyes first and they definitively deliver on that! For starters we tried their Sun Dried Beef and Grilled Pork Patties Spring Rolls. Sun Dried Beef was reminiscent of a beef jerky however, more chewy and tender- it paired well with the mild tamarind flavored dipping sauce provided. Grilled Pork Patties Spring Rolls were not only delicious, it has a textural complexity that heightens the overall flavors. Every bite was delightful especially with the sweet, salty and tangy dipping sauce which complimented it quite well. We ordered the Phnom Penh Noodle Soup as well as the Thai Boat Noodle as our main courses. Phnom Penh Noodle soup was divine. The broth was light and tasty. A caddy of condiments were available however, none was needed. Thai Boat Noodles has a rich and savory broth. It was filling and hearty. I highly recommend this establishment for their delicious offerings and top notch service!

Noodle Head – Menu with Prices – 880 E 13th Ave, Eugene

This is my go-to lunch spot when I’m on campus! Super quick, cheap, and YUMMY. Noodle Head offers noodle bowls, rice bowls, soups, and plenty of veggie-based options. My favorite is the chicken yakisoba. The sauce is delicious, and it comes with water chestnuts, carrots, bok choy, and crushed cashews. The variety of flavors and textures go together wonderfully, and the chicken is always tender. I also enjoy the karee kai, which is a rice bowl with yellow coconut curry and potatoes, carrots, and onions. The curry is wonderful. I usually have to avoid the spicier foods, but this curry is a solid medium and it’s just right for me. It’s rich and thick, with that sweet and savory flavor combo that I’m crazy about. I’ve also ordered the pad thai, and I haven’t been quite as pleased with it. Eugene has plenty of great Thai restaurants, and I’ve had better pad thai at some of the more upper scale, sit down places. The pad thai here is decent, but I could taste ketchup in the sauce, which isn’t how I prefer my pad thai. It was lacking in the peanut-y flavor. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to all U of O students! It’s quick and casual, and in my opinion has the best food around campus. Perfect for a quick break between study sessions at the Knight Library. ?

Thai Fusion Northland – Menu with Prices – 5260 Northland Dr NE suite d, Grand Rapids

Thai Fusion on Northland has pretty decent menu and slowly become one my favorite nearby takeout joints. It isn’t my favorite Thai restaurant in town, but it’s definitely an asset to the Plainfield/Northland area which is pretty sparse on non-chain food options, so I will try to leave a mostly positive review with that in mind. I’d been the original Thai Fusion (on Breton Rd. I believe) and I remember being blown away by their Tom Ghe soup and I had a super delicious curry dish. I’ve mostly sampled their noodle stir-fry dishes at this location, with good experiences every time. They do a very solid Pad Thai and Cury Noodle dishes, but the best one Ive had yet was their Drunken Noodle. I can’t put my finger on why, but that one was stellar. The hotness scale is from 1-5. I’m very tolerant of YUGE spice, like I grew up eating habanero sauce on my eggs every morning, and I don’t go over this place’s 3 (medium hot) level. Every Thai place has a different scale, but this place jumps up in spice pretty vastly with each level, so better safe than sorry, especially if you don’t eat spicy food every nearly every day like i do. Anyway, if this place were downtown, Id give it a 3. But since it’s way out here in the boonies and Im very stoked about that, I will be much more forgiving and grateful. Their prices and restaurant service is great too. They have a lot of options so I’ll never get bored and their food quality sure beats the not-so-good Thai restaurant that used to be in this exact spot (Rák Thai).

MaDee Thai Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 401 E 17th St, Costa Mesa

What Grace N. said… Best Thai food in OC. I’ve been exploring Thai food for the past 20 years. Thai food used to be authentic and hard to find. Now it’s everywhere and completely Americanized. I’ll use one of my favorite dishes as an example, Pad Krapow. Pad Krapow consists of meat such as pork, chicken, beef, and seafood stir fried with Thai holy basil and garlic. It is served with rice and topped up (optional) with fried eggs . The main seasonings are soy sauce, Thai fish sauce, oyster sauce, cane sugar, and bird’s eye chili. This dish is typically somewhat spicy due to the bird chilies. When it’s done authentically, the flavor of the basil and the garlic are dominant. Lastly the flavor works best when the pork or chicken is ground. In almost any Thai restaurant in OC this dish is sliced chicken breast in oyster sauce with no chilies and some bell pepper. If that sounds bland, it is. The food at Ma Dee is authentic Bangkok street food. Everything from the noodle dishes to the soups are amazing. It’s a hole in the wall but so good.

Eastside Thai Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 879 Payne Ave, St Paul

Looks can be deceiving. I was a bit suspect of the restaurant as it appeared small and an older space. My family and I stumbled upon Eastside Thai for a weekend lunch option. Our goal was to find a place with vegan and meat options. We succeeded! Eastside Thai is conveniently located on Payne Ave. There is street parking and a public lot nearby. Everyone in our group was very satisfied with our entrees. We had egg rolls, pad Thai, noodle soup, and cream cheese wontons. I loved the cream cheese wontons and the pad Thai! I also love the option of being able to customize the spice level to any dish. The service and overall experience was great!! I’d definitely go back to Eastside Thai! Support locally owned businesses and eat at Eastside Thai! St. Paul has yummy food!! You just have to be open!
