I got the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki to go for lunch today. It was actually quite nice. The chicken is moist and tender with a crisp sear on the outside and is packed with flavor. It’s one of the few places where the “spicy” was actually spicy(I’m Indian and I love my spice). The portions are huge with generous amounts of chicken and a massive mound of rice. I wish the rice was seasoned because the thick spicy sauce doesn’t mix in quite evenly. I added some soy sauce to the rice just for seasoning. It also comes with a simple side salad and you can pick between ranch and Italian dressing. Over all a super quick value for money meal. Nothing fancy, just plain solid grub.

Mission Crisp – Menu with Prices – 55 S Madison Ave, Pasadena

I’m sorry but the photos on the menu here on yelp and on Uber eats are very deceiving. We ordered the crispy chicken tenders with “spicy fries” and mission crisp “large” shrimp with regular fries. The crisp chicken tenders lacked seasoning. We pretty much dipped in sauce for flavor. The “spicy” fries were not really spicy, it seems like they just added seasoning salt. However, they were good. The crisp “large” shrimp was disappointing. The seasoning was good but the shrimps were very very small, they look nothing like the advertisement. The regular fries were very good as well. For the sides, we order cole slaw and a farmers salad. We never received the salad but were given green beans instead, not sure why. The cole slaw was good, it taste fresh.

NeoTsai Grill Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 15762 Springdale St, Huntington Beach

This place is simple. I’ll keep my review simple. It’s a teriyaki joint, they have chicken, beef, fish. The teriyaki sauce is good, more leaned on the soy sauce side so not excessively sweet (thank you). Chicken is breast so that’s perfect for me. About $8-11 for a bowl depending on the protein and portion is big. Versus Flame Broiler I would say it is at least 1.5 times the meat. So a little bit more. Vegetables about the same, rice is more but I always ask for a small scoop. I tried their spicy teriyaki sauce too, was fine, not too spicy … maybe they just added a little garlic and sriracha/chili to it? There is an “orange” option so maybe I’ll do that because orange chicken without being fried … sounds nice. Seems like a married couple running it, they were super nice. The food takes time to cook but I didn’t mind, plus they kept me updated on the progress. They got purple rice! Also super nice about substituting to all vegetables or purple rice. I like it. This place is great for a lunch or dinner when you forget lunch or don’t want to cook. One weird thing … you can’t order beef or fish a la carte … only chicken …!!!

Chicken Guy! – Menu with Prices – 19565 Biscayne Blvd Ste 2946, Miami

I was expecting a lot more from this place, I ordered a chicken sandwich simple enough with two sauces; spicy mayo and garlic sauce. I have to say I was extremely disappointed, seasoning should be added to the batter maybe it wasn?t added that day. I will say the sandwich is well made with good presentation but it lacks in flavor even with the added sauces. I also ordered a side of fries that you have to pay for separately which is fine but they were tepid. The flavor of the French fries were nice but the temperature not so hot. I?d even say the fries are better than five guys which are usually too greasy. I was not satisfied maybe you will have better luck or know exactly what to ask for when ordering. Fries extra hot & crunchy, sandwich flavor please.

Cucina Di Rosa – Menu with Prices – 1620 N Bell School Rd, Rockford

The service was good except my waiter didn’t advise me of the special. I ordered the veal parmagian and my daughter ordered the chicken parmagian both were very good, however the gravy was short on taste almost like eating a thick tomato sauce no seasoning like oregano,Italian seasoning the way my Italian family made it. It is much tastier with the seasonings. If by some chance there was some type of seasoning in their gravy or sauce it wasn’t noticeable.

Sushi Village – Menu with Prices – 3535 Severn Ave, Metairie

*Ordered delivery on DoorDash so this is only based off of food* With that being said, the food was terrible. So terrible that I did not finish it and finished the day at work starving like Marvin. I ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch, which came with a salad, miso soup, and fried rice. Of those, the only thing I finished was the salad but if you mess up iceberg lettuce and ginger dressing then you need not be in business. The chicken tasted like what I imagine the bottom of my boot would taste like. It did not have an iota of seasoning. The teriyaki sauce was barely there and was like brown water. Just plain bland. Luckily, I asked for a side of spicy mayo so I dipped it in that and it gave it some semblance of edibility. Then I just gave up on it altogether. The rice was bleh and I would’ve needed a whole bottle of soy sauce, as opposed to the 2 packets I put in it, to bring it to life. As for the miso soup, I ate two spoons of it and said no more. It also did not contain a granule of salt and just tasted….off. This was my first time having a bad miso soup. The one saving grace about all this is that I ordered a snow crab roll and it was fine. It’d be pretty hard to screw up snow crab, avocado, and rice. I was able to finish all of the sushi roll thankfully. That is the reason I bumped this review up to two stars. I am actually amazed that I saw reviews saying how good the food is here. Maybe their chef called in sick today or something because what I experienced was just not it.

Ume Grill Skewer House – Menu with Prices – 1733 Pearl St, Eugene

So.. I’m not very happy.. I’m just a regular guy that really likes teriyaki. The chicken “teryaki” was awful. Plain and simple it was awful. Chicken teriyaki is comfort food, it’s not supposed to be some pretentious thing that is trying to be something it was never meant to be? In trying to “re-invent the wheel” by making something that resembles more of a salad with a little bit of WAY over seasoned chicken and the ENTIRE dish tasted of crab roe, or some kind of really unpleasant fishy quality to it, I’m pretty sure there was umami in the sauce for the chicken? My point is I paid for chicken teriyaki and I got something TOTALLY different.. the ingredients were good, it is just an example of a chef trying something new and just destroying a really good thing only to replace it with something that really.. isnt so great.. there was a little bit of rice with about maybe 3/4 or a chicken breast, and the rest of the to-go box was salad? It was more like a mediocre salad with a side of teryaki? I hate to be so on them but if nobody else is gonna say it I will.. I should have gone back for my money because I only ate a few bites and threw the rest away, but it was late and I had to be up super early. maybe warn people that the teriyaki is a little bit different from what they may be used to (I’m from Seattle and there is a teriyaki joint on every corner so I feel like I know my teryaki?). I was very disapointed. If you are looking for good teryaki, GO ELSEWHERE.

Oaxaquena Triqui Menu with Prices 77 N Lake Ave, Albany

This was our first visit. So we kept things fairly basic. We got an order of chips and salsa and a side of spicy green mole’ sauce. Which was pretty spicy but not blow your taste buds out spicy. Good spicy that you can still taste it. We both wanted tacos so that’s what we got. She got the beef tongue (which were super rich and beefy tasting and very tender) the Chicarones which for my taste not cripsy so i could have never gotten past the texture but she said they were good but very heavy. And as an extra she got a grasshopper taco, I said it grasshopper and to be honest they weren’t bad. Smokey and crispy. Far better than I would have thought. I have had beef tongue before so I kept it simple 3 chicken and 3 pork tacos. Both of which were tasty moist and tender. The chicken had the typical subtle flavor but when i added lime and the very spicy red mole they were very good. For me pork tacos are always first choice. .and they were nice and spicy and I just added a squeeze of lime. We were sufficiently satisfied but they have Churros and ice cream. The Churros were I would say just good they were filled with Leche’ which was a little weird for me but still good I generally am a purest with most foods simple is usually better for me. The ice cream I didn’t like I think it was passion fruit so no go for me. My wife ate the ice cream again simple would have been better vanilla would have been perfect. Of course I also had my Jarritos Lime soda which I love. Definitely looking forward to going back again soon. I would say for Albany a solid 4 star place.

Kra Z Kai’s BBQ – Menu with Prices – 1218 Magnolia Ave #110, Corona

Never tried Loa food before but had to give it shot because one I can’t say no to BBQ and two the reviews are great. The location is defiantly tucked in a plaza where you can hardly see it. However if you are in the location of El Super market in corona you will be sure to see it as there are signs posted throughout the plaza. When I got there I told the cashier it was my first time. They did recommend there too seller which was the mix plate where you can choose from 4 different meat options. I wanted to try everything so I did order in addition to getting a side of beef jerky. I also substituted there regular salad for papaya salad. The cost to substitute is $5 cause who wants a boring salad. The rice option you have the option to choose form sticky rice, fried or white. I wasn’t sure what sticky rice was so they let me try it. Believe me when I say this it’s plain sticky Rice. The chicken you can also whose thigh and thigh, thigh and wing, etc. so that’s nice. Out of everything I got I would say that papaya salad and chicken were the best. The chicken was moist and very flavorful. I mean delicious. Off the hook! Papaya salad I order a medium so 7/8 out of a 10 heat wise and Ed it’s spicy. I do like spicy but it’s enough for your taste palate. I think a 10 is above and beyond the heat. I enjoyed it a lot however it does have Avery pungent smell like wet dog. Exactly like wet dog. Some People say the more it stinks the better. And yes it does smell but it doesn’t stop me from eating it. However if you take it home careful your car will surely smell. The beef jerky lacked flavor and was dry. Defiantly not my cup of tea The ribs were ok, had better but I wasn’t a huge fan. Did lack some flavor Sausage was ok however it was very taken over by lemon grass flavor. Alittle wayyyyy too much. Fried rice was good but had better. If I come back I going straight for the chicken! Overall great service! I’ll be back for there chicken

Big Mama Chims Noodle House – Menu with Prices – 905 Alley A, Columbia

This is very authentic! Truly a hidden gem. As a New Yorker, I was surprised that we were able to get such great (Northern) Thai food in Columbia, MO. I ordered the Tom Kha soup with sticky rice on the side ($2.50 for the sticky rice, but it well worth it), and my friends ordered green curry chicken rice and Pad Thai. They were all very satisfied! I also love the fact that they have the ‘spice caddy’ for every table, which includes peanuts, Thai dry chili flakes and spicy sour sauce. The Thai tea was on the sweet side and they mixed it with half and half instead of the traditional condensed milk. When the server takes your order, you’ll be asked to indicate the spicy level you’d like to have in your food, on a scale of 3 to 10: 3 being the least spicy and 10 being the most spicy. I chose 6.5 because I was told by my friend (who loves spicy food) says that 7 was pretty hot. I love my Tom Kha – it was just the right amount of spiciness and the right amount of food. The coconut milk that is part of the Tom Kha really added a great complexity to the dish. A must-try!

FRIED CHICKEN WITH THE SAUCE – Menu with Prices – 4605 Church Ave, Brooklyn

Fried Chicken is comfort food for me so of course I would gravitate to a restaurant that’s all about fried chicken. Their chicken is way more authentic than Popeye’s. Their Caribbean seasoning is even more authentic than some of the nearby restaurants who have been serving their landmark dish for much more longer than this restaurant has been open. I have been here more times than I would like to admit and have only had their chicken which is consistently great, extra crunchy and seasoned just right! If you are in the area, I would definitely recommend that you come in and try an order of fried chicken paired with some their simple and delicious rice & peas and a spoonful of their macaroni salad which seems to get better and each time that I eat it! Oh but we can’t forget about the sauce which is superb! It’s sweet yet savory taste compliments their fried chicken wonderfully without distracting from the crunchiness of the chicken. I like my small orders covered in it but on the side with large orders… just my preference. Yes, the sauce is available for purchase separately. Disclaimer: (1) You might find yourself waiting an unnecessary amount of time for an new batch of chicken to be fried or for your order to be delivered via your preferred food delivery company. (2) Chicken is only available in dark meat that is mostly skinless.

Poke District – Menu with Prices – 1924 N Tustin St, Orange

This is the best poke I’ve ever had. My little brother and I came here right when they just opened the door. As soon as they opened, customers started coming in one by one. It was a steady flow coming in. My brother and I stood near the cashier, contemplating what to get since it was out first time here. I decided on getting the salmon bowl, with white rice, everything, and with the Jay-Yo-Lee sauce, which was a creamy mayo sauce. My little brother got the half and half bowl (half tuna and half salmon), brown rice, everything on top, and the Hot Lava Sauce (Spicy). We received our poke still hot and fresh. The second I took a bite out of the salmon, my mouth was watering! It was an amazing amount of flavor. The sauce was mixed evenly and there was an abundant amount of fish! Sad to say, I couldn’t finish my amount of fish… I know, shame on me… The rice was enough, the seaweed salad was enough, and the imitation crab was just right. No other poke place will be able to compete now !

Hot & Spicy Corner – Menu with Prices – 3431 Houma Blvd suite b, Metairie

I cannot emphasize how happy I am that: 1. Hot and Spicy Corner extists and 2. That they are on food delivery apps! Until this point, good casual (Saffron is great but a little too fancy for eating while you binge watch Netflix in your pajamas) Indian food was the hole missing in the heart of New Orleans food scene. My boyfriend’s family is from India so he and I may have been a little excessive in our ordering: 1. Chicken biriyani- tender bone in chicken in rice with the perfect amount of spice! 2. Goat Curry- I didn’t have this, but my boyfriend said it was incredibly flavorful 3. Chicken Tikka Masala- beautifully tender chunks of chicken in a spicy, creamy sauce. This had a good kick to it that I’m not used to getting at restaurants. 4. Chicken Manchurian- great dish, basically an Indian take on Chinese food. My boyfriend said that this is something he has been trying to track down for a while. 5. Bhindi Masala- chopped okra in spicy masala seasoning. This was probably my favorite! 6. Dal Makhani- think of this as Indian red beans and rice. Flavorful and very filling. Honestly, each dish could easily feed two people, so we will be eating this for the next few days, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! There are a TON of veggie options as well as halal meat. Definitely check them out!
