I know lots of people like the ice cream here, but it’s not for me. I was first appalled by the bright colors. Then I was surprised how gooey the ice cream was, something I could not believe dairy can deliver. So, I went home and did some search online. I found a list of ingredients on the Open Food Facts website. My suspicion was confirmed. They put in quite a bit of additives, mostly binding agents and stabilizers, including carrageenans. You can find the list of ingredients and descriptions of the additives at https://world.openfoodfacts.org/product/0014138700572/premium-ice-cream-vanilla-edaleen-dairy. I’m sure they use fresh milk, but I don’t like all the additives they mix. I know they won’t kill me, but I don’t need them. At least, when I think I’m eating fresh ice cream from a local creamery, I don’t need all the additives whether natural derivatives or artificial. ***************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit “useful” to let me know. Ice Cream 504 – Menu with Prices – 2511 Jena St, New Orleans

Yelpers!! If you only go ONE place the rest of the year, Make it ICE CREAM 504!!! This is my new Favorite place!! OMG!! Let me start by telling you: I am not a big ice cream person!! I eat it maybe once a year. But THIS PLACE, has THE BEST ICE CREAM I’ve ever had. And I’ve eaten it from Paris, to New Jersey, to the end of the keys. All of it is made fresh on site. It is PERFECTION!! Not overly sweet, and very smooth. The flavors are all great, and you can test as many of them as you like! Although I warn you, that makes it super hard to decide at the end. It happened to me! (I will add pics of all the flavors!) The cones are also made on site, and AMAZING!! They only use fresh ingredients and you can tell! No artificial fishies, no funny after taste, none of those things additives cause. Just delicious homemade ice cream. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s the very kind and funny owner Michael. There is also his lovely mom. Everyone there was beyond sweet. I enjoyed their company almost as much as I enjoyed their ice cream. And that says A LOT!! The shop sits just behind a spacious parking lot, in a cute little Louisiana style shotgun house. It’s bright and welcoming, much like its owner. Believe me, no matter where you live- it’s worth the drive!! They have shown me what ice cream should taste like, and now I’m hooked!! I will certainly be back and I will from now on eat ice cream FAR more than once a year!! Guess I better step up the treadmill work outs!! (Worth it!!) BTW- Make sure you Try the Almond Peach Petit Four!!! It’s to die for!!

Bubblecup Tea Zone – Menu with Prices – 1101 Grindstone Pkwy Suite 107, Columbia

Very disappointed in the lack of knowledge the staff has. They have items labled as Non-Dairy. When I ordered my item the associate assured me no dairy products are used in making that tea. I ordered it and went about my way. Thirty minutes later while at work I begin to get an unsettling feeling in my stomach. I didn’t finish it but returned to the store and asked to see the ingredient list in their non-dairy creamer. I asked him to look for milk and Caseinate but he was hesitant. He showed me a bag of non dairy creamer used by the food section that had those two ingredients. He kept trying to tell me the tea isn’t made with that one. However, I went to the rest room area and noticed another creamer of another brand that also contained those two ingredients. Be careful and make sure you ask because it seems they are not aware what is contained in what they serve. Also, he was not all considered about me nor was he empathetic.

Wild Scoops Menu with Prices 429 E St, Anchorage

If you’re interested in some artisanal flavors that reflect the local tastes of Alaska, check out Wild Scoops. They source local Alaskan ingredients to put into their ice cream and offer non-dairy flavors as well. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety they offered at this little ice cream spot. They let me try the different flavors until I settled upon I wanted, then I asked for the Baked Alaska topping. I also asked for the waffle cone because it was for the ‘gram. I got the fireweed flavor which was fantastic. Fireweed is a flower local to Alaska and they definitely have incorporated it well as an ice cream. It wasn’t overly floral and had fruity notes. The Baked Alaska topping is more of a marshmallow cream than a meringue as the texture is different. It was torched behind the counter and definitely the way to go if you’re looking for a picture-worthy cone. The service was friendly and if I didn’t live out of state, I’d be a regular.

Bailey’s Cafe – Menu with Prices – 324 Bathurst St, Toronto

Quaint local cafe spot with fresh, high quality coffee beans. The picture of the dog bailey drew me in as I was in the area and needed a boost of coffee. Glad I came in, the fresh quality drip coffee was so aromatic and delicious! The baked goods paired with the coffee was just the right afternoon pairing. This coffee shop also serves Kawartha dairy ice cream! Even has my favorite flavor- cookies and cream. I even tried the blueberry treasure and it was so creamy. Love it! If I lived around here, this would be new local spot. Be sure to drop in, if you’re in the neighbourhood!!

Frozen Fuel – Menu with Prices – 120 Strawberry Alley, Clarksville

New ice cream parlor downtown on Strawberry Alley across from the children’s fountain which was shaded just perfectly. I loved the smell of fresh wood inside – so new! The owner, Brad, was very nice and friendly. I ordered the chocolate velvet in a milkshake! So good! He let me sample it and I left with one! They make non-dairy options using coconut milk, but I prefer the full dairy shake. (I love that they use local ingredients and the milk is from hormone-free cows! ) My dad tried their vanilla crunch. He said it was really good and had finished half before I even got my order! Haha. Sorry folks, no photos as my hands were full with baby and stuff. I took a few outside, but the inside is so new that it’s practically empty. Beautiful woodwork, but no tables or chairs yet. Free water helped quench the thirst since it was over 90 degrees outside today. Not sure what’s upstairs, but they make and keep the ice cream downstairs. I wanted a tour, but it’s top secret! I can’t wait to come back and try their other flavors! Good thing for their cute sidewalk sign, otherwise I would have missed it (looking down while walking).

Zeds Real Fruit Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 4001 SW Canyon Rd, Portland

I love Raspberry Ice Cream….and I can honestly say that ZED’S ICE CREAM TRUCK offers the best Raspberry Ice Cream I’ve eaten in my 73 years of life. I ran into this truck at a Portland park event that my grand-daughter, the gymnast, was participating in a show at. I saw someone eating what looked like a yummy scoop of ice cream and discovered it was the Zed’s truck. I got to hear the history of their ultra cool machine and watch them add fresh raspberries to TILLAMOOK vanilla ice cream..We all know that Tillamook is the best ice cream in the state, right? Gotta support our local cows and dairy farmers. The addition of fresh fruit..Sunday they were seeing Raspberry, Strawberry and Marionberry. I wish I could have tried them all, but the waffle cone I had was filled way up over the top with the ice cream turned into magic soft serve. I understand the truck is usually on Hawthorne..a sad thing for me as I live on the west side..but all you east siders..go see the guys at ZEDS..and have them tell you the story of where the machine comes from..it’s interesting.

Dairy Queen (Treat) – Menu with Prices – 5800 Peach St #520, Erie

Love me some ice cream treats and Dairy Queen is on the top of the list. Blizzards are the favorite in our house, specifically Reese’s pieces for the hubby and pecan turtle for me. Best part is is that they are open ALL YEAR LONG! Thank you very much!

Boombalatti’s Homemade Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 1005 N 4th St, Wilmington

If I were to make a “24 hour must see, eat, & experience in Wilmington” list, Boombalattis would be at the top of it. I especially love their Brooklyn Arts District location because of its proximity to other adorable local businesses, the quaintness of the cobblestone streets out front, and the lit outdoor patio scene. This is some of the most affordable, high quality craft ice cream you’re ever going to find. They make one-of-a-kind flavors, go with trends creating uncomparable seasonal options and even have a consistent list of vegan and/or gluten free flavors throughout the year. My favorite vegan flavor is hands down the Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookie! Even if you don’t typically enjoy dairy-free alternatives, that flavor will have you coming back for more. The Caramel Macchiato and Double Cookies & Cream are my go to dairy flavors. I don’t think they’re temporary flavors as I’ve had them on multiple occasions throughout the year, but just in case, I would check their Instagram stories/posts before you go to see the up to date list of flavors they’ll have in shop. You’ll straight drool over their photos too! It really shows how much effort they put into their flavor creations, and in result, how flavor packed each bite of ice cream really is. They offer a nice variety of nostalgic soda floats including, of course, root beer and orange cream. Additionally, they have a “craft coffee bar” with cold brew floats, affogatos, and casual nitro + cold brew orders made with local roasts. I’ve heard amazing things about their custom ice cream pies which you can order online, but have yet to do so myself. They also sell tons of branded merch including a long line of collectable stickers designed for every theme imaginable. The staff at this location are very sweet. The parking in Brooklyn Arts District, as a whole, has never been difficult for me, even at the busiest of hours. There is a surprising amount of seating indoors and out, suitable for groups or families. The hours vary from The Forum location: This spot is closed on Mondays then open 12 pm – 10 pm Tuesday to Sunday. They do mini scoops, which are basically ice cream flights and take home pints/quarts in select flavors. Really there isn’t anything Boombalatti’s can’t do. It is my go-to dessert spot in Wilmington and I highly recommend it to any and all.

Lic’s Deli & Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 800 E Diamond Ave #3420, Evansville

I give it a one because you have to, if you want to leave a review. Today on my way to work, I thought a Strawberry Banana shake would hit the spot especially if it comes from Lics. Boy was I wrong, it was the worse shake I’ve ever had. I also got one for a girl at she had Chocolate and let me tell you it was a very light tan she said she thought they forgot to add the chocolate. So we wont be back to the one on Diamond ave. It was at 11:37 am this morning. They need to train all of the employees how to make them, it was a young kid working he kinda acted lost.im not writing this in Hope’s of getting free ones, because as of now I wont never be back not even for a free one. I just hope they do something about it. I can almost say I bet I wont be the only one to explain today.

Cookie Dough Dreams – Menu with Prices – 124 E Magnolia Blvd, Burbank

My 3 year old son and I were looking to kill some time one day while waiting to pick up my daughter from a birthday party and after getting a few things at Cost Plus in the mall, we headed out and I remembered seeing the sign for Cookie Dough Dreams while we were driving. We walked in and it really is a colorful and kid friendly space. My son kept thinking we were getting ice cream as the shop is set up similar to a Cold Stone or Baskin Robbins and I reminded him that this was all cookie dough in the bins and not ice cream. He selected the s’mores cookie dough with Reeses Pieces and some other mix in. The girl scooped out the cookie dough (like an ice cream shop) and mixed in the toppings and put it into the cup. I was reading that they use fresh ingredients and the cookie dough is safe to eat while the dessert was being prepared. They have a variety of flavors and then special desserts they can create. Nothing sounded particularly tempting to me. We paid (I’d say borderline pricy for what you get) and then sat down to enjoy the cookie dough. My 3 year old loved it and he polished off the whole thing except the few bites I had in between. It does taste good, and I do love cookie dough so I was happy about that but didn’t really feel the s’more flavor as we had mixed in some other things. Overall, an interesting and tasty idea. A place I’d come infrequently, but a good idea for a ‘special treat’ place with the kids. Even if the ingredients are ‘fresh’ this is by no means a healthy eating option.

Charlie’s Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 510 Hialeah Dr, Hialeah

This ice cream place has had many different names over the years. I remember when it was a Dairy Queen and my grandmother would send my mother here to get her some ice cream. After a long day of shopping, my son thought he was deserving of some ice cream. My son is an absolute trip. Anywho since this was on the way home, I figured why not. Whenever I come here, I never know what I want. My son on the other hand is simple; strawberry ice cream in a waffle cone. After spending quite some time reviewing the menu, I finally decided on a vanilla ice cream with cheesecake bites and strawberries avalanche. It’s basically a Dairy Queen blizzard and it was yummy to my tummy. The young lady that assisted me was super nice and attentive. She helped me finally figure out what the heck I wanted. Lol. It was just too many options and I wanted them all! Will definitely be coming back as I have been doing so.
