This used to be Tom’s BBQ…they changed their name, so we decided to check it out. The name made us think of Greek/Mediterranean food, but they still had BBQ listed…interesting! They actually do both. We decided to try the BBQ, since last time we were at Tom’s, it wasn’t that good. This was much, much better! The brisket was really tender and the ribs were fall off the bone. You can choose between a mild or hot BBQ sauce, we both chose mild. It was just fine…needs a little oomph, but it was quite tasty. We also ordered some hummus, which we both love…it was very good. It came with pita points, which tasted fresh and warm. I wanted to take home a Greek salad with some gyro meat for either later or tomorrow. Tasted the gyro meat, and it was pretty good!! All in all, we were pleasantly surprised! We will definitely be making a return visit. The only reason for my 4 (instead of 5) stars was, they didn’t have any rib tips ready, which are on the menu. Hopefully, the next time, they’ll have them, cause I love those!!!

Souvlaki Boys – Menu with Prices – 1 W James St, Lancaster

We ordered take out from here during our visit to Amish country!! I read the reviews on trip advisor prior to ordering & went with the Greek salad (added gyro meat to it & veggies). The salad was delicious!!! The rest of my family each had a platter (namely: gyro, chicken souvlaki & pork souvlaki): gyro was the winner and everyone raved about the side Greek salad!! My 3 year old loved the grilled cheese pita, it was not too salty and a good combo with the pita & melted cheese! The food was ready on time (within 25 min from ordering online) and my significant other claimed this was some of the best Greek food sheâ??s ever had!! We would likely be regular customers if we lived in the area, but meanwhile will make sure to stop by each time we visit!

Papa Gyros Menu with Prices 6409, 1 N Hawkins Ave, Akron

Got a takeout order last night, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good everything was. The side of Greek roasted potatoes, which came with 4 large wedge pieces, kind of reminded me of a jo-jo but wasn’t fried. It had good flavor. I wouldn’t necessarily need to get them again but it was a good side. The side of rice was really tasty. My wife really enjoyed it. The hummus was good, and the pitas that came with it were warm fluffy slices of heaven. So tasty. The Cajun gyro was insane. Absolutely loaded to the brim with meat. And that Cajun gyro meat had a really good kick to it. I felt it in my lips when I was done, but nothing over the top. I’d get this gyro every time I ever came back here. My wife got the Philly and loved it. I don’t think it stacked up to the Cajun, but it was darned good.

Sahara Delight – Menu with Prices – 119 S Washington Square, Lansing

Came in for the first time today. The first thing you will notice is how good it smells in here. I ordered the lunch special of a Gyro, Fries, and a drink for $7.99. I asked to substitute a Greek salad in place of the fries and was glad I did. The salad is packed with fresh vegetables and a great Greek dressing. The Gyro was packed full of lamb, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatzaki sauce. Excellent lunch and fast service. The owner, Ali, is standing right there making sure your meal is prepared right. This is an excellent stop for lunch and I will definitely return. Trust.

Grill Kabob – Menu with Prices – 27653 Bouquet Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita

This is home made food, not restaurant quality. It makes sense why it’s cheaper than its competitions. We ordered the gyro and shawarma, neither tasted like what it’s supposed to be. It felt like the meats were cooked in an oven at home. They were not cooked in a rotisserie spit like traditional shawarma and gyros are. I could have made these at home myself. When we order out from a place, we expect restaurant quality. Not to mention the portion of the protein is very meager The rice that came with the gyro and shawarma were neither greek or arabic rice, instead they tasted like South Asian polao, usually cooked in a Pakistani/Bengali/Indian home. The owner of this food establishment must be South Asian who thinks they can cook Greek/Arab/Persian. I’m sorry they cannot. Finally, the garlic sauce was NOWHERE near skordalia (greek garlic sauce) or thoum (lebanese garlic sauce). Instead it tasted like mayo with a lot of garlic juice in it. The only reason I am giving it 2 stars is because it was cheap and fresh. But it is definitely not restaurant quality food. If you are looking for mediterranean – greek/arab food cooked by someone most likely south asian and clueless about such cuisines, this is it.

Effie’s Kitchen Menu with Prices 37 Poplar St, Boston

I regret not trying this place sooner because it’s close to my house and I usually have to drive far to get decent food. Went there for the first time and had a pork gyro & chicken souvlaki plate. The plate was $13.50 and came with rice pilaf, a greek salad, pita bread & 2 chicken kabobs. Pita was grilled and absolutely delicious. Kabobs were smaller than most places but tasted good. Greek salad & dressing were good and I was impressed at the freshness because most places I go to give me wilted lettuce or dried up cukes/onions. The rice pilaf was the only thing I was not a fan of. It tasted like the Middle East one they sell at grocery store..under seasoned. The gyro I thought was really good..overflowed with pork (a little greasy but good) tomatoes, onions, tzatziki & fries (normally I hate fries in my gyro but these were good.) Overall, I liked the food and will be returning..probably to try a chicken souvlaki gyro. The prices are high in my opinion especially for the dinner plate. I considered trying a baklava but it was $3.75+ tax for a very small piece. Their menu is small but has most Greek staples. Service here was not particularly welcoming..it was obvious it was our first time there but the lady was short with us and only took our order. We were the only 2 people in there and not a word was spoken the whole 20 minutes which I find unusual for mom & pops places. Maybe next time..

Your Greek Cousin – Menu with Prices – 2060 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd, West Palm Beach

As a transplanted immigrant Greek once upon a time from Astoria, Queens, NY (the Greek capital of the Americas for those of you not lucky enough to be Greek) I know my Hellenic food. In my inaugural visit I enjoyed the lamb gyro (pronounced yee-ro) on toasted Greek pita and an assortment of veggies for the sandwich. For starters it came out exactly as I had ordered it complete with toasted pita. While this may not seem like a big deal I can’t tell you how many places both here and in the motherland got it wrong. . On a recent visit I had the pork souvlaki sandwich with a Greek salad. Both were amazing, The souvlaki was well seasoned and the salad couldn’t be any fresher. No Greek meal is complete without frappe (Nestle instant coffee blended with cold water, sugar–or not–and milk to taste, yummy!),the former unofficial Greek national coffee drink (nowadays its freddo espresso, yuk). I enjoy my frappe with one sugar and milk. Ioakim and Maria are Greeks from Cyprus by way of South Africa and what they are doing is educational; and, they are also providing a public health service by introducing Mediterranean staples to the folks residing within the Palm Beaches. I love my new home but really folks how many fast-food joints can you pack in one block? Come experience what the Mediterranean diet is all about, your body will thank you for it.

Greek Express – Menu with Prices – 3733 Riverdale Ave, The Bronx

Can I just say that I’m so happy and full right now? I became anxious when hubbs called to say he was on his way home and would pick up some take away from our neighborhood Greek restaurant. I was nervous because I just don’t like the service or the food from the restaurant closest to our home but I was prepared to order something from them because I know he had a rough day and I just wanted him to be able to get home as soon as possible and decompress from all the worries he experienced today. While looking for the menu on Yelp, I searched Greek…and low and behold, Greek Express came up on my search list and the rating looked promising. Even better, they’re located near our home as well. I quickly called hubbs and gave him the address as well as my order. First off, let me say that they must prepare foods with lightening speed because hubby got home with record timing. The food was warm, fresh and tasted oh, so good. I think we’ve found a new spot for our Meditteranean fix and any place that has halloumi has my heart! The Grub Rundown: Gyro Platter – ample gyro meat, choice of rice or fries and PLENTY of warm pita. Hubbs ordered this and, of course, I had a couple of bites for prosperity *wink wink* Halloumi – four grilled pieces of halloumi cheese, served with greens and lemon wedges. I liked this a lot but I’m sure it tastes way better if eaten in the restaurant, straight from the kitchen. Hummus – the color threw me off but the flavor is completely on point. They gave us so much warm pita for everything. We really wanted for nothing. Octopus – I took a chance ordering the octopus for take out from a place I’ve never eaten but after all of the rave reviews, I had to try it out. I’m glad I did. It was tender, well-seasoned and cooked well. Kourambiedes (Butter Almond Cookies) – very tasty and I’m glad I compromised the calories to try this dessert. I’ve already confirmed with hubby that this is our new Greek spot, no pun intended (well, maybe a l’il :D).

Kalita Grill Greek Cafe – Menu with Prices – 2426 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder

Honestly, the best Greek/gyros I’ve ever had. Reasonable prices, filling portions, and great quality. A friend recommended this place almost a year ago and we only recently (like within the last 2 months) tried it. After the first visit, we came back again just a few days later. Since then, we’ve eaten here almost weekly. I was motivated to finally write this review because my partner texted me that they were picking up Kalita Grill on the way home from the climbing gym… we literally just ate here Tuesday night (it’s Saturday). I don’t know how they do it, but everything we’ve had so far is heads-and-shoulders above any we’ve had in the past. The chicken souvlaki, gyro meat, falafel, babaghanoush, the greek salad (don’t get me started on this!), even the *regular* fries — all delicious. Spanakopita got high marks from my partner, who is a fiend for spanakopita + all things containing puff pastry. Even the rice, decidedly not the main attraction, on the gyro plate is better than any other rice I’ve ever had. It’s always perfectly cooked, never too al dente or too soft. It’s not that this place has like a groundbreaking twist on Greek — it’s just that everything tastes fresh, real, and made with high quality ingredients. Quality is so above the Boulder standard! Get the bougatsa to treat yourself to something awesome. Don’t make the mistake I did and miss out on months of delicious food — go now.

Olive Branch Mediterranean Foods – Menu with Prices – 3992 Ringgold Rd #103, Chattanooga

When I was a young girl, eating out was a treat reserved for special occasions. Chain restaurants were not a novelty or a dime a dozen, so we ceremoniously piled into the station wagon and drove to a family run restaurant where they knew everyone’s name, asked about your relatives and you felt you were eating as a guest in their home. The food was not complicated, but it was always delicious, hearty, made with love and pride. The moment I entered the Olive Branch, I felt the warmth and love of a childhood memory. Truly a family run business, they take time to greet you and get to know you (if you allow). Try the Incredible Greek salad – always fresh, generous and delicious with amazing dressing. If you’re a meat lover, top it with gyro meat and prepare to relish every bite. The Greek lemon chicken with potatoes — oompah! The hummus and tabouli are the stuff of … legendary satiation. And for the ultimate experience, squeeze a Greek pastry into your happy mouth as a last indulgence. Do yourself a culinary favor and visit this very special place.

The Simple Greek – Menu with Prices – 1600 Crossways Blvd Suite E, Chesapeake

I’ve eaten at The Simple Greek quite a bit in the past couple of weeks. Their gyro bowls provide a filling lunch option without being too heavy on your stomach. All the ingredients are fresh and delicious as well; furthermore, I can attest that their lamb gyro, chicken gyro, and Mediterranean shrimp bowls are all bomb. The food is good, but what keeps me coming back to The Simple Greek is their impeccable customer service. On my first visit I came in about 30 minutes before they were closing (which was my bad), and I got a Brown rice bowl, everything was delicious but the brown rice tasted dried out and ruined the taste of entire bowl for me, when I went to the counter to explain my discontent, Maiya, was very friendly and had no problems remaking the bowl with a fresh batch of rice (even though they were about to close). Every time I have visited thereafter Maiya has been there with a smile and has really looked out to make sure all my needs are met. In fact, every worker I have encountered has been very friendly and helpful. Overall, The Simple Greek provides good food and even better customer service.

Pita De’ Novo – Menu with Prices – 8510 Youree Dr, Shreveport

A good little Greek restaurant. They are fast, parking at the front door, and a drive through window for pickup. Monday’s they have $5 Gyro sandwiches, and they are very good. You can watch them shave the meat off of the vertical rotisserie, and see them put all of the ingredients on your order. Pictured is the Pita de Nova salad to go, otherwise know as a Greek salad. Also, the fried eggplant is a favorite. The lady usually at the cash register and taking orders is a jewel. She just radiates niceness and interest. Remembers lots of customers by sight. Monday lunch is a given for me.

Safron Grill – Menu with Prices – 1049 Washington Ave, Miami Beach

I have to admit, I was extremely surprised and satisfied with this place. It’s always a gamble when trying out new restaurants. But tonight the choice was right. I ordered I Greek salad and gyro wrap and I’ve had Greek salads and gyros plenty of times in the past and i have to say, SAFRON is BOMB! Both were beyond delicious. I definitely consider returning soon. Don’t know exactly when, but I know I’ll be back over there really soon to try some more picks off their menu. Which was a pretty vast menu. It’s not a giant fancy environment, but the quality definitely of ingredients that their cooking with are definitely top notch. And for being in south beach, it’s not pricey at all. Can’t go wrong with this little gem. I’m really looking forward to returning.
