Amestoy’s on the Hill, this place is truly a Bakersfield Icon, where do I start? Frank and Marie opened the place in 1948, and its been there since, it’s a neighborhood watering hole, a place where lots of us have grown up, from the dollars we all put on the ceiling or currency we kept from our travels around the world, Frank was the man, he was a hotrodder back in the day – which he used to love talking about when all the hotrodders would roll into town in the fall and the spring, the huge parking lot parties he would have to give back to the community. It’s a chance for friends to gather and have a few, or to make some new ones. Everyone is family at Franks, I’m glad I got to see him while I was home from Afghanistan before his passing, the crowds aren’t huge (unless there is a band or its one of the car show weekends) I hear they have food now. All the same Amestoys is an experience you have to have if you ever get the chance, the drinks are strong, prices are cheap and even if Frank is gone he’s definatly not forgotten.

Frank’s Italian Ices – Menu with Prices – 687 Ling Rd, Rochester

I’m embarrassed to say i live right down the road from this place but never stopped in….When you walk in you might be greeted by the sweetest old man you could ever meet…Frank. Frank owns Franks Italian Ice. Or the place might be empty…with the door open on a hot summers day…and frank might be right next door at Savastano’s, sitting down and having a cup of coffee. If he is, just give a little shout and he will come right over to serve you. (the two stores share a door inside) Immediately you will think you have been good friends with Frank for years as he talks to you like you are part of his family. I learned that Frank’s Italian Ice used to be Al’s Italian ice…Al was Franks father and Frank has been making the stuff since he was 5 years old. Back in the day Al’s Italian ice was The biggest player in the game…And the italian ice shop used to have lines out the door on the regular…But Now that Franks father has passed…And Frank renamed it Franks Italian ice…He has this new location..Much more modest…and he sells a lot of the product to all the little shops around rochester. But still makes it all himself in the back of store with his machines. I wish i could tell you the prices for franks because I didnt see any…and when i asked he didnt really say what they were lol…I walked in expecting to pay with a Credit Card…but i learned he doesn’t take credit/debit. Just cash….and i only had 6 bucks in my pocket….but yet i still managed to walk out with 2 quarts of the finest, most creamiest, Delicious italian ice and Gelati i have ever had. and when i walked out i still had 1 buck left in my wallet….I felt so bad…Like i had just robbed him. I told him i would come back n give him more cash tomorrow…He just shrugged and said “eh”. What i got…Chocolate Gelati…and Italian Lemon ice. Oh my goodness…i think i am swearing off ice cream…The lemon ice was so creamy you would swear it was made with cream..But nope. No milk..No cream…and it taste like a dream. Not overly sweet either…I felt like i was eating a cloud. The chocolate Gelati…Looks like it would taste super dark…But it’s not. It’s soooo good. Taste like he adds some sort of liquor in it. Almond maybe? You don’t feel guilty after eating it either. Like you do when you have regular ice cream or custard. All in all…If you want the best italian ice you have ever had in your life…please come to Gates, NY and stop in at Franks Italian ice. Bring cash because credit/debit is not accepted. I am so proud to live in a town that has a place like Franks open..that is not only rich in Gelati/italian ice..But also rich with so much History.

Frank’s Tacos – Menu with Prices – 902 E Washington Ave, Santa Ana

How should I start this… Well our original taco caterer had canceled on us last minute (more upsetting was the run around). We found Franks Taco’s on yelp in the Fullerton area. Figuring it would have been more convenient to hire someone local to the area where we were having our baby shower. Franks responded quickly and was super professional in his answers to my questions on types of meats he would be providing. Also drinks and condiments. Thank you Chu-chu this dude saved us from our baby shower. Skip;;;;;;to food Frank and his brother/cousin? showed up on time and was able to accommdate 50+ . Its when him and his brother/cousin started cooking. Man we smelled everything from from meat grilling and onions burning. This guy lured me and the guys from the kitchen to come out and eat. My wife totally loved the professionalism and food they put out. They not only worked under pressure but they literally provided GREAT and amazing food. They also offered a vegetarian dish for my pops who is a vegan! Thanks Frank and brother/cousin??!! lol my bad Keeping you guys in mind for future events THANK YOU again!

The Newport – Menu with Prices – 939 E Conway St, Milwaukee

Wow! Times flies fast when you have been having fun. I remember when Franky worked at Slim McGinn’s and his dream was to eventually own a bar. As you can tell his dream happened and he is definitely living it! If you want to see Frank your best bet is to show up during the day when he comes down from his apartment. You have to meet the owner because he an awesome guy! In the past couple of years this place has become hipster trendy at night. During the day you get the typical day drinker and nights are devoted to the young urban hipster. They actually have different prices during the day and at night. The crowds are completely different but that is what makes this place a gem. If you are hungry order up an Emil’s pizza which is probably one of the better frozen bar pies you can order. Frank will put on a huge spread for the Packers games. Packer games are great there but the only downside is that the TV’s are not that big. If you have not hit this hidden Bay View tavern then you have missed out. Many of Frank’s kids work there as bartenders. Did I mention that this place I vote as the “Best Place to Get Drunk for Under $20”?

Mekong Market – Menu with Prices – 314 Broad St, Providence

Hidden Gem. What you want. No pretense here. This is Mekong, and don’t forget it. “V” runs the joint and knows her stuff. How do you know? Easy, listen to Frank. Last month, humid as all get out, Frank just knocks on my door. “C’mon, get out here, just got back from the George’s Bank in my ACY 72, named her Billy Club, and need to get to “V,” know her whereabouts?” “Hey Frank, what the, c’mon man, whatever, man, you seem all on edge, hyped up!” Frank said, “Yeah cuz I caught a whopper and want to get this fish to Mekong, I gotta be on Fishers Island for golf in the AM, glad I have the range in Billy Club’s diesel tanks.” I said, “Where’s Billy Club tied up?” Frank goes, “Conley’s Wharf, get your wagon, we gotta haul.” With that I grabbed my keys and off we went. Within a few minutes we were at Mekong. V says, “Frank, I think the world of you but no way, I’m not taking this fish, too big for the freezer!” Frank says, “V, you’re a champ, got you that strong jab and a stronger hook, and if you say that you can’t, then you can’t. See you next time peaches.” She blew Frank a kiss as we go peeling out with the wagon’s 5 cylinder and headed back to Conley’s Wharf. Frank says we should get pumpkin lattes from Dunkins before getting back on board. I pull a sudden u-turn in front of Mekong, and as I look back in my rear view I see Frank’s massive fish sliding out of the back of my wagon and then go skidding across the Burger King parking lot. Then I see the manager running towards the massive catch. He’s skipping a bit and fist pumps the air; air that’s smoky with his BK Lounge greasy grease. With his arms raised, he is yelling, “Give me that Filet O’ Fish! Give me that fish!”

Jordans Hot Dogs – Menu with Prices – 970 State St, New Haven

This is my favourite hot dog place. I don’t eat pork or beef so it’s awesome they have turkey franks and turkey chilli. My choices of food places to get turkey franks are sorely limited. The chicken melt supreme is my favourite, the chicken is juicy and the sauce is so good, I usually ask for extra sauce. They include drinks with the combos which is nice. The service is always good and they are pleasant people to deal with. Prices are competitive just wish they were a tad cheaper but that doesn’t make or break they experience. Only two issues I’ve ever had was several times I attempted to order turkey franks and they have been out. The other was ordering online, my food isn’t usually labels and it’s not always easy to tell the turkey franks from the others (they revealed they use two links for the turkey) so when we’ve placed a large order I gave mine away out of fear of eating a beef or pork link.

Frank Jr’s Barbeque – Menu with Prices – 3012 Covert Ave F, Evansville

Frank Jrâ??s BBQ and Catering Service is top-notch. He recently catered one of my events and it was very evident as to why his BBQ is in high demand! The food was great but working with Frank was even better. He met our needs in a timely manner and my event was able to run smoothly. Heâ??s the type of business leader that many establishments should model themselves after. I would recommend visiting Frank Jrâ??s BBQ if you havenâ??t. If you canâ??t visit, I would definitely recommend utilizing his catering for your next event!

Papa Frank’s Menu with Prices 218 Marble Ave NW, Albuquerque

One of the true measures of friendship is when a friend introduces you to a restaurant where you can find delicious food, easily available, efficiently prepared for you, and at a price that will amaze even the most jaded of souls. Augustine could very well have been a customer of Papa Frank’s when he delivered that statement about truth. The truth about Papa Frank’s, consistent with Augustine’s message to us, is that Joe and Priscilla have been around for 20+ years, operating out of a renovated old house downtown, feeding all who have the luck to have discovered the most delicious breakfast burritos this reviewer has ever tasted……… with the ‘next best’ a distant second! The taste created in this kitchen defends itself against the risk of negative review by anyone! Papa Frank’s cannot be beaten for value, taste, old New Mexico family atmosphere, and convenience – eat in or take out.

Josephine’s Cozy Corner Lounge – Menu with Prices – 2201 Pierce St, Omaha

If it’s your first time here you might step into the darkness of this subterranean lounge and ask yourself if you belong here. The answer at Josephine’s is always, yes. Think about a neighborhood bar before sports bars with 27 tv’s took over. This is a great spot in Omaha to spend a few hours relaxing. The lounge chairs at the tables are comfy or grab a spot at the bar and shoot the breeze with Frank – the bartender/owner. Frank treats everyone who walks into the bar like family and the vibe extends to all his customers. Everyone at the bar is happy to chat. Frank will make you any kind of drink you want and check-in that you are happy with it. You’ll learn something new about Omaha with his sage-like knowledge and he’s a fine listener. If you need a great place to bring out of town guests or just a place to hang out with good people, head to Josephine’s.

Ben & Jerry’s – Menu with Prices – 3234 N John Young Pkwy, Kissimmee

I was having a rough day but I decided to get some ice cream with my husband to try cheering myself up. As I walked in the two employees greeted me with big smiles. Kevin served me and was very patient with waiting because i’ve never been here before and there was so many flavors to choose from. As I was deciding we got into a quick conversation about band and being that I was in marching band myself I felt at home. An employee named Ana cleaned the table before we sat down and offered me a coupon for the inconvenience of the table (which wasn’t even an issue for me) Overall I left the store with a huge smile on my face and I’m extremely happy with the service I was given. Yes the price was a little high but with the amazing service I was given it didn’t even matter. I will for sure come back!

Frankies Italian Deli – Menu with Prices – 4835 W Eau Gallie Blvd, Row N, Melbourne

This is my first, long distance review. There, is so much I need to say… I will start with the need to rate, 6 or 7 stars. This is indeed a Cocoa Beach area, hidden gem. One of my first impressions was Frank, the owner, is a marketing genius… What originally brought me to his business was a trip to Renninger’s flea market. I have always said that if you truly believe in and are proud of your product… you offer samples… and let the product drive it’s sales. My girlfriend and I were entering the market… and there was Frank, greeting us in a genuine friendly manner. The pride and confidence Frank has in his products showed in his smile. He asked if we would like a sample of his,”Frankie Special”, his namesake signature sandwich… now we were in a hurry to begin the treasure hunt…. and we had just eaten. Frank’s passion for what he and his wife is doing shines through. Well, Christine and I agree, this is simply the best, deli sandwich either of us has ever had! Period. Nothing to compare to. He starts with top quality ingredients…Boars Head meats and fresh baked bread… but what sets it, light years apart is their made in house components… the gardinara and dressing are unique and delicious. The perfect balance and finish to the perfect sandwich. All items here are top quality. Prices assure the customer great value, for their dollar. We actually returned two more times, before leaving the market… once for beverages and once for cheesecake for dessert. The experience literally left us feeling, we made new friends. If you are ever in the area and don’t stop in… you will really be missing something quite special… this family is doing everything right. I tip my cap to Frank and his team. Simply, delectable.

Riverwest Filling Station – Menu with Prices – 701 E Keefe Ave, Milwaukee

I was sent here by a regular and I’m so glad I checked it out. Our party of 5 qas seated immediately by a very friendly host, and we ordered drinks from a seasonal drinks menu, which we chose from after checking out the great beer and wine lists. Kids were given huge, juicy, perfectly cooked cheese burgers. I had the scallops, which were lovely and not chewy. My husband had the ribs, which fell off the bone and were the envy of the table. They were so big that sharing was not a problem. The jerusalem sandwhich was a treat. Tonight, I’m back again to try more goodies. I wish that some of the early reviewers would come back and try it again, the service here is excellent and the food is “oh my god” good. Cream of curried broccoli soup is a very big yes. Shrimp po bo is huge and yummy. I ordered it without the tomato salsa and it still had a nice spice to it. The open face catfish sandwhich didnt stand a chance. The home made cornbread was really nice. We are glad to have the riverwest filling station.

Eastside Bar & Grill – Live music & entertainment, london, ontario – Menu with Prices – 750 Hamilton Rd, London

Went here to see a friends band play for the first time. Venue is great for bands! Huge stage and great sound system… I could have done with out all the blacklights and the fog machine but what girl doesn’t want to look more tanned in dead of winter (thanks black lights!)??… I will say it was a bit loud… concert I know, but this was a bit tooooo loud The staff were friendly and attentive, my friend ordered nachos and the second layers cheese wasn’t melted but the top layer tasted good (she took the rest to go figuring she could heat them up at home and voila second dinner). **Update on the reheated nacho idea… not so good** Band was great! (the ultrasounds) Would definitely go back to see bands there.
