Wow a unique little gem in Fremont. This is a small, female-owned business run by 3 friends out of passion, and it shows in the care they take to make the drinks and presentation of Turkish sweets! First I want to say I don’t know the owners, just happened to find out about the back story when I was feeling like some caffeine after a lunch at Chipotle and saw it was new and gave it a try. Makes it more meaningful to support a local, female-run business! Inside is clean and fairly spartan and looks like what you would expect from a local, non-chain coffee shop. The first case by the register is baked goods, and from the few times I’ve been there, it does change from time to time. Make sure you go towards the back where they Turkish sweets are. They have baklava and other pastries, as well as various Turkish delights. I’ve tried almost all of them and especially love the Pomegranate, Pistachio and Rose Petal one, Rosewater, Pomegranate, Milk & Double Pistachio, and Honey & Double Pistachio. They are just subtly sweet enough with an enjoyable chewy texture and a little bit of crunch. You honestly can’t go wrong with any of it and at $3.75 for one big one or 5 little ones, they are a great value. I like to get an assortment to take to dinners or relatives houses, and they think I’m fancy. One tip–I recommend eating these with tea, not coffee as to not overwhelm the subtle, balanced flavors of the sweets. There are a few unique coffee flavors as well as Turkish coffee, as well as tea. It’s the perfect place to bring mom for a nice afternoon tea, or to stop in. However, if there is one takeaway from this review, it’s to GET THE TURKISH DELIGHTS. Sooooo good, and so rewarding. Sit down, relax, have yourself a nice cup of tea with sweets and reflect on how life is good.

Breakfast Champion – Menu with Prices – 4800 Baseline Rd a109, Boulder

Breakfast and lunch are served here all day from what I understand. I do agree with one other reviewer that the name should match more with their image. This is essentially a small Turkish restaurant, NOT a conventional breakfast joint. Food was delicious and service was great as well. Good array of different Turkish dishes and meals to choose from if you are a food lover. Best gyro I’ve personally ever had, and wonderful impression for our first experience with Turkish tea and coffee. Their pistachio baklava was very good as well. Their pastry section has a few conventional items like danishes, but mostly Turkish pastries that looked and sounded very good but we were too full to try them. I’ll definitely be swinging by in the mornings to try out their pastries and breads.

Midpoint Coffee Brewers – Menu with Prices – 248 Crown St, New Haven

Pretty decent cup of coffee. Midpoint coffee is new to the neighborhood but they’re being welcome with open arms. The coffee scene in downtown new haven just got a shot of something new as this European style Coffee House makes its way in. As Midpoint so elegantly describes; the moment you step into their establishment you enter a whole new scene, one that’s cozy/warm but completely different from the environment outside. It’s comforting, welcoming, and filled with delicious coffee aromas. They keep it simple here. Just coffee. From your cold brews to cortados, the coffee selection is short. They brew Lavazza coffee and even offer this Turkish style coffee (a mix of ground tea/ coffee). My friends and I came here to give this place a try. I ordered the Turkish coffee. It is very aromatic ; flora with a little hint of coffee. The taste was unique. It was sour and fruity, you can’t really tell you’re drinking coffee but it was worth a try (however I would probably not try it again, nothing against the taste , it’s just not for me). My friend got the cortado which is 2 shots with steamed milk and she enjoyed it. The espresso flavor was strong and not bitter. My other friend order a mocha of which she too enjoyed. Overall, midpoint’s coffee creations were well liked. I can see my self coming back here. Midpoint makes a great addition to the coffee scene in new haven

Habibis Sweets & Pastries – Menu with Prices – 3178, 2417 Nicholasville Rd #100, Lexington

Was up at cravefest with the boss yesterday checking out some new foods and restaurants I ain’t hit up yet. When I saw Habibi’s I figured I’d try it out. I had some sort of Turkish tea or coffee. It was horrible. More specifically, it was probably very delicious, but I reminded myself why I drink beer regularly and never drink any coffee. The sweets were fantastic. I been eatin baklava for years and it was delicious. I also got to try a sort of lemon cake or somethin I had never seen, it made my inner fat boy dance with joy. The people were very sweet as well. I had left my phone at their booth and the gentleman working there had left his booth to come wander around the festival to return my phone. This is a business that hits on all cylinders and I will start frequenting them.

Maya Bistro Menu with Prices 5649 Lee Hwy, Arlington

Authentic Turkish family-run restaurant bursting with flavor. The synergy and close-knit family dynamic is truly impressive. Everyone pitches in from the siblings servers who double up as bartenders to the father in chief hosting and managing the restaurant, while the mom/aunts/uncles preserve their secret family recipes and pepper in the spices in the kitchen. The complementary pillowy soft Turkish bread similar to focaccia is divine! We devoured the the entire loaf and got another round! The Maya Mezze for 2 is a fun sampler of Turkish dishes with a platter of hummus, eggplant-based Patlican Kozleme, Htipiti red pepper & feta dip, falafel, Turkish cigars stuffed with feta cheese, and Bamya okra (substituted them over Dolmas). Of all the mini apps, the hummus, cheesy Turkish cigars, and crispy and tender falafel with perfect consistency without being dry or oily were my favorite. Highly recommend trying the Mezze! The crispy Zucchini Cake were tasty and fun to try! The Spanokopita with lots of layers of phyllo dough and stuffed with spinach and feta was quite filling. Our server was super nice and gave us Baklava on the house! Although we were stuffed to the brim, we thoroughly enjoyed all the crispy layers of phyllo dough and walnuts coated with honey and sprinkled with crunchy pistachio crumbs. We polished off a clean plate, there wasn’t a morsel to spare! My hubby enjoyed his foamy cappuccino. A sweet ending to a delicious savory meal! Although there’s no outdoor seating, there’s plenty of seating inside. Looking forward to coming back and exploring the rest of the menu!

Baklava Coffee and Café – Menu with Prices – 3315 W Carefree Cir, Colorado Springs

So I just went here and I have to say I see why this place has 5 stars. The service was amazing, the lady who owns the place greeted me with a giant smile and a beautiful attitude. I asked questions and changed my order half way through and then decided to add on to it. I was the kind of person that that employees roll their eyes at with my indecisiveness and questions. Through all of it she was gracious and patient. What I ordered . . . If you can’t make up your mind, what do you do? Get everything!!! Lol. But really, that’s what I did. I got a Turkish coffee, Chai Tea and a Turkish Tea. The Turkish coffee was strong but not bitter at all, soft coffee notes and delicate Middle Eastern hints of flavor. The Chai Tea . . . She makes her OWN!! Yes you read that correct! She has her own special blend and it doesn’t not disappoint. Hands down the best Chai Tea I have ever had! Perfectly sweetened with wonderful aromatic chai spices and the perfect ratio of milk. Lastly the Turkish Tea with steamed milk. Beautiful hints of cardamom, lightly sweetened with a tinge of floral essence. Sooooooo good. I’m hooked and clearly sold.

Cafe JuiceUp Menu with Prices 1290 Blue Hill Avenue, Boston

Very delicious and great service! I had the tropical bliss smoothie and my brother had a berry smoothie. They have a lot of tropical and unique flavors for juice and smoothies. Met the owner who was very nice and welcoming. Very happy to support a local business in the neighborhood. Looking forward to returning to enjoy the patio they are building and to try more flavors! I want to try the Haitian patties too

DAB Hemp Cafe – Menu with Prices – 105 Warren St, San Antonio

This shop is truly one of a kind! Down to earth local shop that has a special place in my heart from now on! Dab is a unique shop with a nice variety of not only cbd products such as flower, tinctures and creams that can be used for a variety of individual needs. Their juices are one of the many amazing mixtures that make them very unique! As for their recipes, you can truly tell how dedicated they are when you have a sip of any of their delicious drinks. My personal favorite is the Nitro coffee with their special sweetener mix! Just ask for half n half! So in love with their Purple Reign , it’s a lavender tea made with alkaline water and it is absolutely a godsend! I usually pick up one coffee to start my day and end my night with one lavender tea! Oh and don’t forget the double shot if you please. Each drink starts off with 20mg of cbd and each shot equals 20mg of cbd. There knowledge, information and hospitality is not something you’ll find some place else. Give it a shot, everyone’s different but if you love coffee, cbd and loving human beings- You won’t be disappointed!Good to know there’s people who care more about health and happiness rather than greed and money! I appreciate this business for what it is. A loving and safe place of healing and health! Thanks again so much Dab CBD Hemp Cafe! We love you!

Ampersand Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 7010 N Marks Ave, Fresno

Glad to see a popular local business pop up closer to me so I can enjoy quality homemade ice cream from time to time. They have an impressive selection of flavors for the more sophisticated to even the pickier palates to choose from. They cycle through seasonal flavors through out the year as well if you ‘re the type who likes trying something new. My favorite flavor is by far the Honeycomb. It’s certainly a treat and I love the crispy chunks of actual honeycomb that’s embedded inside. As a local business I appreciate that they utilize other local businesses in their ice cream like Lanna Coffee. My boyfriend is a bit disappointed that they don’t offer Lanna Coffee at this location because he enjoys the Lanna Coffee ice cream float he gets at the original Ampersand location. We were told that they wouldn’t be offering tit at this location because they’re next to a Starbucks. My only gripe with this location is that their menu is all the way in the back behind the register with tiny letters and all of the flavors are on small wooden engraved signs. If it’s busy and you have to wait in line, you’ll have no idea what their flavors are until you get up to the very front. The overall set up isn’t ideal in my opinion. Especially when it gets crowded inside and you fight the long line behind you so you can get out with your ice cream. Their ice cream case doesn’t list names so if you’re not familiar with their flavors you’ll have to inquire about all of them. They will let you sample all of the flavors you want, but if you come when it’s busy you’ll probably feel rushed. They also make their own waffle cones, but I always get my ice cream in a cup.

Confidential Coffee – Menu with Prices – 137 W 6th St, Long Beach

This place is such a cool coffee shop! My boyfriend and I came in to grab a drink and we were greeted by the owner, Denise. Since it was a hot day, she recommended to us the iced Mazapan latte and the pomegranate and blueberry iced tea. I looooved Mazapan latte. I never realized how much I love peanut flavor until I drank that. I didn’t expect it to be so refreshing. The pomegranate and blueberry iced tea was really delicious too, especially on a hot day. It was rimmed with Tajin, my favorite!! Besides the awesome and unique drink selections that they have, the shop itself is so aesthetically pleasing, with really great WiFi. Its close enough to CSULB to make a great study spot. It’s also quiet and there’s plenty of tables and outlets to claim, so this will definitely be a place that I’ll be studying at. I noticed that you need to find street parking for this place, but I didn’t have any trouble parking close. I highly recommend this place. Another perk is that the owner and the employees are so incredibly sweet so this place is a must try! And can maybe be your new favorite go to coffee shop!

Choco Bakery & Café – Menu with Prices – 4300 Green River Rd #103, Corona

I’m so mad this place parked itself along Green River, because it regularly beckons me to stop by on the way home as a reward for a hard day’s work! My husband says I have a problem haha This place has a lovely assortment of delicious affordable pastries. We have thoroughly enjoyed these special treats ourselves but even better they have made nice little thank you gifts for family and friends. Some of our favorites have been the pink raspberry and white chocolate mini cakes and their lady finger tiramisu. The tiramisu is so luscious and creamy that if it were socially acceptable I think I could easily put away 2 or 3 servings (don’t judge me and my sweet tooth!) For people who are not big chocolate fans, their lemon tart doesn’t disappoint. The key lime wasn’t key limey enough for us, but the crust is delicious! They also have treats such as beautiful flakey fruit bejeweled napoleons for those who want something on the lighter side of sweet. One of The prettiest offerings they have are the Turkish delights. I’m not a big fan of these as a dessert but for those who are, I imagine these are an exciting find. The rose petal covered cubes and pistachio encrusted cubes just look oh so pretty. I’d imagine anyone would appreciate a little box of these as a gift. The only reason this place does not get five stars is because I was a little disappointed that on very rare occasions some of their treats aren’t as fresh as I would like. Today for instance I bought a slice of chocolate mousse cake along with a couple of other things and the edges of the mousse were rubbery and dry as was the top layer of the whipped cream. Don’t get me wrong it was still gobbled up but I had to scrape off the rubbery bits to get to the familiar traditional creamy light filling that I love so much. This was the first and only time that has happened to me but I have heard from friends that they’ve experienced this once or twice as well which makes me think that’s one area of improvement for the business if they are reading. Otherwise I highly recommend! Its worth the stop and makes me quickly forget all about my crappy 91 commute home

Look Up Dessert Cafe – Menu with Prices – 1032 Volvo Pkwy Suite 1, Chesapeake

I’ve always wished for a cafe that serves just desserts. All kinds of desserts, from cakes & cookies…to ice cream and smoothies. Imagine my delight when I found Look Up Cafe We have visited on multiple occasions since moving to the area and I wanted to wait to try different menu items before reviewing. They uses to have frozen yogurt once upon a time, but have replaced it with yummy blue bell ice cream which is better. Don’t get me wrong…I still love my froyo. Their cakes are moist and yummy. Our favorites are the matcha and pistachio. Their shaved ice is so so refreshing and unlike the traditional shave ice you may be used to. It is creamy and flavorful! Try the mango or coffee. Smoothies and Boba are good. The Boba pearls itself is a hit or miss, according to my son who is a self-proclaimed boba connoisseur. Last but not least…if nothing else, you have to treat yourself to the macarons. So many flavors to choose from!! And you can’t beat the price! Coming from Cali where they can cost as much as 4 each…these won’t break the bank. Also…they can package them in cute little containers that would make a thoughtful gift for someone who loves sweets. I wish they had some sort of loyalty card for people like me who frequent often. I believe they did in the past but no longer do. Oh and they are so friendly here! We really feel welcome as soon as we step through the doors

Four Fat Cows – Menu with Prices – 68 North Marietta Pkwy NW Suite 101, Marietta

This dessert spot is located in Marietta square market, which is just opened up 3 months ago. There are paid and free 2-hour parking available on site. However, the quantity is limited, however, suntrust bank parking lot is available after 5pm to the public. Four fat cows is behind the lucky’s burger. The store sells cute kid stuff and stationaries at the entrance. They offer three different cones: sugar, waffle, and freshly made puffle cone. Since the puffle cone is made to each order, it slows down the service a bit. They offers a lot of flavors (refer to phots) and all ice creams are freshly made in a local ice cream place call greenwood ice cream in Chamblee. And ice creams in pint contains are available to purchase as well. We ordered vanilla and pistachio scoops. The ice cream is very creamy and silky, and rich in flavors. It has a texture like gelato. The only reason I took off one star was the price. $5 for one scoop of ice cream is a kind of pricy. But it is definitely worth a try. The shop offers other sweets like cupcakes too, we didn’t try them this time.
