I’ll start you guys off with a 5* review. I love your food. I’ve had both a chicken and steak burrito which were excellent. Ingredients are fresh and the people behind the counter are nice. I love your bathroom sign and the decorations in the restaurant. Just seems like a friendly place. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Capt’n Dave’s Seafood Market – Menu with Prices – 700 Alma Dr, Plano

I have always loved this place Dave and his Brother in law Rocky are the greatest and the employees are fun and they remember you. Today i went to pick up some seafood and on the door there was a sign handwritten that said ” Bathroom for employees only” i thought this was funny because this to me is not the type of business you would think had a public restroom. Its a seafood counter just like The Plano meat store where you buy what you need and leave. It struck me funny that people would request a bathroom enough that Dave needed a sign. Being a place that i go often and people know me by name and always a funny good time, I walked in and joking said to the woman by the counter, Can I use the bathroom and in the same breath said to the same woman behind the counter, who would come in here and ask for a bathroom? she was smiling and we had a small laugh. From the back i heard someone yelling at me and i thought she was playing along with the joke and i laughed, then she said Laugh all you want but its not funny? what i thought? Then she yelled from the back I hate men like you? again i thought she was kidding so i said, i am not a man but an ugly woman. Shen then replied then i hate ugly women like you!. I turned to the other woman at the counter who is very nice and said is she upset about something? she stated that she was having a bad day. I told he that that was not a way to respond and you could see that she was embarrassed. All the while the the angry woman (Daphne) was still yelling some stuff at me but i could hear what she was saying. I told the nice lady that that was a rude way to treat a good customer and that i am sure Rocky and Dave would not appreciate this type of behavior. First of all I was never speaking to Daphne and she was just angry and rude. I did call back and Daphne answered the phone and told me that I was too aggressive and she does not stand for that?? Get a sense of humor as Captain Daves has always had one and a great people to work with. I spoke with Rocky and explained everything and since Rocky and I always joke around and he knows me as the U-12 guy, he sounded sad and apologized. Rocky is a helpful and happy guy and I enjoy buying from him. I would say if you encounter Daphne, don’t smile or try and be fun and happy or she will go off on you!. Make sure you ask for someone else of she will ruin a great experience and a great seafood store with lots of other fabulous employees

Rum Sugar Lime – Menu with Prices – 1039 S Virginia St, Reno

When I visited reno for the weekend, I honestly didn’t expect to find any hip, trendy bars so was pleasantly surprised when I found this place and a handful of others in the neighborhood. I will start by saying I love, love the space. From the garage door, exposed brick, succulents, bar counter, flamingo wallpaper and wicker mirrors in the bathroom… can you tell, I really liked the whole design? The reason I’m knocking this a couple stars is that the drink was just ok and the service was not good, especially compared to other craft cocktail spots within this same neighborhood. It was late on a Sunday afternoon and honestly there were maybe 2 other people in the whole bar, we sat at the bar top and the bartender put down a couple menus and water, but then walked back and forth several times as he prepped things and didn’t even acknowledge us after that until maybe a good 10 minutes late when we finally asked him if it would be ok if we ordered a couple drinks. One of the drinks we ordered was definitely better than the other. Maybe we just had an off experience, I really wanted to like this place more given that I loved tiki themed/inspired drinks and the space was gorgeous.. but the bad service is what sticks with me.

Happy Thai Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2081 Pacific Ave, Long Beach

I have been coming to this restaurant for over the past year on a weekly basis. So glad I discovered them as they are a hidden gem in my neighborhood. Tried all the other Thai restaurants in the area but this one definitely is the best. I have brought a lot of people to eat here and everyone goes away happy. This food is delicious and fresh. I was surprised to read a review in which the review were claimed that the waitress took a sip of soup out of a to go order. Very shocking allegations. I have to say that I don’t believe it because I know they would never do anything like that here. Perhaps the viewer Was mistaken and what they saw. I highly recommend you trying this restaurant. You won’t be sorry

Crown Fried Chicken – Menu with Prices – 312 Bloomfield Ave, Newark

How good is this chicken? So good that its protected by what looks like bullet proof glass..oh, wait maybe the glass is for the chicken and the people that work there. I was in the neighborhood, and it seems crown chicken is a local favorite in certain areas is what I’ve heard, so stopped by to give it a try. Ambiance: Urban and GTA san andreas (video game) feel to it. The interior is designed for take out only and menus decorate the walls as you step inside. The place makes me think of the old school dairy queens where you go up to counter to get your order except that this one you walk in door to get to counter. The person who took my order was very patient as I perused the menu. Taste: The presentation is similar to Chicken Holiday, but this has more flavor. You can definitely smell the flavor along with the garlic, pepper, salt. and greasy goodness you come to expect from fried chicken. So if your in the neighborhood, give this place a try, and eat it while its hot. TIP: Its cash and take out only.

Kenda?s Deli & Grill – Menu with Prices – 7996 S Sheridan Rd, Tulsa

Update: I found myself craving this place after two days, so, naturally I went back. I couldn’t believe how fresh and delicious everything was. It was EVEN better than last time! Hence, I updated my 4 star rating to the well deserved 5 spot. The people at Kenda’s really know how to cook. Gosh, I hope this place does well because I’m not sure I can go without their food now . Previous 4 Star Review Below: Homemade, tasty food! Their grilled chicken is nicely marinated & charred perfectly. Rice, hummus and stuffed grape leaves are some of the tastiest I’ve ever tried. Their Greek salad is crunchy fresh (I like their feta, don’t be afraid to increase the fresh oregano). Their soup of the day, chicken/vegetable/barley, wasn’t to my taste. I’d like to see a lentil, garbanzo vegetable, lemon chicken or even minestrone soup. They seem to be conscious to not overly salt which is great for people who need/want to watch their sodium levels. They also have a pastry rack with a variety of freshly baked goodies for those suffering from a sweet tooth. The restaurant is clean and the owners, who seem to be on site working, are friendly. Since my favorite Mediterranean restaurant recently closed (Leenas), I was very sad with the notion of having to cook again until I found this spot. Check this place out! It’s definitely going to be one of my regular neighborhood spots.

Crossroads IGA – Menu with Prices – 2656 Abigail Way, Lexington

Lexington finally has an IGA. Not that IGAs are well known or a preferred grocer, but they’re common in more rural areas. Honestly, I’m surprised they opened one here. After all, Lexington has been rough on grocery stores. You know, after the short run of Luckys and Fresh Tyme. I guess we prefer to eat out over grocery shopping. This is a small neighborhood grocery. When you see it, from the corner or Citation Blvd and Leestown Road, it looks like an oversized gas station. There is a Shell station attached to it, but it’s bigger than it appears at first glance. There’s also a Which Wich location inside, which will also have a drive thru, but it’s not open now. They have a pretty big selection of beer, in the Beer Cave cooler. Right now, they’re running buy one get one free specials on the rotisserie chickens, chicken salad made from rotisserie chicken, and fresh cut fruit. The sale/specials signs are displayed outside, near the entrance. I love that feature, because it means we don’t have to grab an ad to see what’s on sale. I hope they keep that feature. The chicken salad was fantastic! It will definitely be one of my staple items. The soft serve ice cream machine is also a welcomed feature, especially since the neighborhood McDonalds’ soft serve machine is never working. That’s besides the pint though, I know. The checkout process is weird. The don’t have checkout lanes, it’s one big check out counter, with several cashiers. There’s no real start of a line, or any indication where to wait for the next available cashier. When I was there, no one was in line, so I stood in the middle, away from the counter and the cashier called for me. I asked her what the line process is, but she didn’t have an answer. I guess we will eventually figure it out.

Palace Fried Chicken – Menu with Prices – 10402 Jamaica Ave, Jamaica

Well, Gordon, as far as the customer service part of the Crown experience, I think you’re wrong here. I deal with this place every week just because there is no other place around here to get my chicken fix, and it really doesn’t matter how nice I am to these jerks. They always give the impression that they would just love their jobs so much more if people didn’t keep calling them to ask for food deliveries. They might be nicer to their walk-in customers – I wouldn’t know. Aside from their general reluctance to do their jobs, they give an impression of willful stupidity that is really quite unpleasant. If you think this is harsh for a local place, maybe you’re right, but I wouldn’t even have noticed your review of these cretins if I hadn’t been looking (in vain) for another fried chicken delivery joint in my area. There just is no place in the North Richmond Hill area to get fried chicken delivered except these guys, so if you can put up with their behavior, I guess I have to recommend this place highly. The chicken is usually quite good and the service is (usually) fast. Options for side orders are pretty sparse and the guys on the phone really don’t seem to care that they’ve only got one or two soda options. Also, their menu doesn’t accurately reflect all the ordering options and also lists options that don’t exist anymore (like the peach cobbler that they haven’t had for years.) Oh, the delivery guys are generally pleasant, so a decent tip is in order, and make sure you have change because they probably will not. Edited: their phone attitude has improved… a bit. It is because of the review or because I don’t call as often? I don’t know…

Magic Soul Food. – Menu with Prices – 134-50 Guy R Brewer Blvd, Jamaica

I come here often. And order the same thing, veggie platter with greens, yams, and Mac and cheese. Everything is so so. I have to take it home add a little seasoning to my Mac n cheese. It’s usually pretty bland, but banging once I hook it up. Yams are always good and greens are a hit or miss, sometimes they’re sweet and good as heck. Just the way that I like them. Other times they’re tangy and weird tasting. The cornbread is scrumptious. You guys must have two different cooks. Because the food tastes different sometimes. Sometimes I get other things. Your shrimp is really good, when it’s purchased and eaten immediately, fresh and hot. And the black eye peas are so good. I’m going to order a veggie platter and chicken and waffles in a little while. When you guys open and I’ll post another review. I’ve never had your fried chicken before. Whoever made the Mac and cheese at the old location inside the mall in Jamaica NY was off the chain. Now that was some bangin Mac n cheese. Oh and your sweet chicken ( I think that’s the name) is gooood. I come here for my soul food fix. I can’t cook all that great and my Mama is down south. So this is my go to place. I had to give it 3 stars…they don’t take credit cards with their delivery, they lost a customer today ( but just for today lol). I can’t get food delivered. Other than that…the food is pretty good. Start taking cards on deliveries guys…it’s 2018!!!!

Ichi 29 Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 11500 NE 119th St SUITE 112, Vancouver

Good food and usually decent service except today. Ordered to go, and had a bowl of the good complimentary soup while waiting. Instead of leaving the bowl on the table which seemed rude, I put it on the counter like I had before and had seen others do as well because there is no obvious place to put it. Well apparently I missed the little postcard size sign that said not to leave dirty dishes on counter. Excuse me, I was just trying to be nice and did not deserve the slap on the counter with the snippy, snide “next time don’t leave your bowl on the counter”. I said “I was just trying to help why the attitude?” I got “there’s a sign right there!” If she had said “sir, you must not have seen our sign, it is small, please just leave your bowl on the table next time” I would have just left the bowl on the table next time. Instead there will be no next time, I will not tolerate being scolded at a place of business for trying to be nice, or for any reason for that matter. Make the sign bigger, make an obvious place to put the bowls and drop the attitude!!

Cajun Persuasion Seafood Market & Poboys – Menu with Prices – 2309 David Dr b, Metairie

Absolutely love love love this place you guys!! I’m not sure if this review even matters, but I just want to tell yall a little bit about this place. I live nearby, off of Power Blvd and I kept passing this place wanting to try it. Well finally, I went try it with a friend and the food was AMAZINGGGG!!!! When crawfish is in season, ya’ll!! I swear you better try this place!! But other than the crawfish, I absolutely loveeeeee crabs, and I ALWAYS get their snow crab because the first time I ever went there, I tried it and OMG it was SOOOOOO good!! Not to mention, the people that work there were AMAZINGLY NICE and helpful! They do have other options on the menu though, if you want to bring your kids and what not. My brother and I ate here when he was down from Texas and he said it was the best seafood joint he’s had here along with his daughter. She got the chicken fingers and fries, and she loved them. Although they can work on the chicken fingers a bit, everything else was very tasteful, though!

Rooster Deli Menu with Prices 527 NE Bellevue Dr, Bend

Hmmmm. I went in here as I was short on time and right next to it – two people in there who looked like regulars – reading the menu of a different restaurant and trying to figure out what to order from the other place. (Should have been my first sign.) the sandwiches run about $4, which should have been another sign. But I was starving and running short on time before work. I got up to the counter and asked the woman “how are your French dips?” She answered with, “I don’t know, we are also out of onion.” I was like nooooooo French dip with no onion?! Dang. But decided I was too hungry to care. So I ordered it. The place doesn’t have a kitchen, right next to the counter they have a food prep area. She threw on some gloves and made my food. The au jus was nice and salty, it was good. But the dip – hmmmm. The bread was toasted and too hard, slightly burnt around the edges. The roast beef was thick and fatty. I had to take most of it off my sandwich to eat. Swiss cheese was okay but a little greasy. It was mediocre if I’m being generous. When I asked what was in the tuna sandwich she said “mayonnaise.” Boo. I love food and I’m really not picky, it’s very rare that I write a negative review, but here she is – in all her glory – the worst French dip sandwich I have ever forced myself to consume. I didn’t even finish it. Just ate enough to be sure I wouldn’t pass out at my photo shoot and left. If you want a plain old turkey sandwich than maybe, but don’t expect great things from this place. But hey, they have poker machines! :/

Royal Cliff Banquet & Conference Center – Menu with Prices – 2280 Cliff Rd, St Paul

We came here for our co-worker’s wedding reception. First of all, it was hidden behind the shops so cannot be seen from the street. Next, the conference center is adjacent to the restaurant so you figure it can’t be all bad. Anyways, we found it after backtracking and got a parking spot which can be tight if neighboring restaurant is busy. Anyways, we didn’t expect much but it had a decent sized private dining room. It also had a private bar to get drinks which was nice. The food was actually pretty good and can’t complain. Everyone enjoyed the reception and the conference center was nice to provide toiletries in the bathroom. There were some extras thrown in with the microphones and the hosts at the front. Overall, it was a better than expected reception. Our co-worker shopped around and found this one so it must have been a reasonable price. Plus, they allowed her to do some decorating beforehand so could save on floral design and table decorations.
