Whoever stated that “the smell is so much better than the taste” hit the nail on the head. Whilst shopping in the Glendale Galleria, my crew simultaneously announced they were hungry. Cool, let’s hit the food court… We had a bit of a walk, so we all glanced at my Yelp app for a minute. Our 6-year-old sees “chicken & boba” and there was no steering her away. Service was very sweet. And when I mistakenly thought extra dips were free, I started to walk away because I didn’t want to pay $.29 using my debit card. The friendly cashier hollered “ma’am” at me and handed me a free mild spicy sauce dip on the slide. The batter and the outer edges of the meat on our chicken strip combo ($11.95) was so tough. Beef jerky tough! Fries were decent, but they are on the thicker side, just FYI. The mini me and I dove into the pickled cucumbers thinking they would be the sour kind, but they were sweet. Eck! Thai tea (add another $1 to the #1 combo) was good and sweet, but they did NOT have boba. *sad trombone* The signs and receipts have been updated to “Buddy Chicken”, but Yelp got our hopes up in that it popped up as “Buddy Chicken & Boba”… I’ll submit a change to see if it gets corrected. UPDATE: Yelp sent me an automated email stating that they made corrections where they could and obviously the name change didn’t go through. I tried.

Tastea Frisco – Menu with Prices – 6363 Dallas Pkwy, Frisco

Super duper busy on opening day even though it was rainy! I missed the free drink by 2 people in front of me which was sad but got to take advantage of the BOGO free. I got peach me sunshine and sunset peach. They were both very good and pretty refreshing! I thought that the honey boba was really cool because it is green here. When I got my drink, I thought it was wrong but they said that was the honey boba and their signature color for them was green. Interesting but also werid haha. I am not the biggest person on boba but wanted to try out their honey boba that day. The Boba was very good and chewy but it did get a little hard as I was drinking it ( i drank half then got busy and came back an hour later) and I beleive really good boba shouldn’t do that? I didnt get ice in my tea because it was cold out and so the boba was nice and soft but after a while, I guess my drink got cold and it did that. Not sure if this means much to anyone but I beleive big boba drinkers might not like this? The location it self is very small with a couple (5ish?) tables. And the location is kind of werid. Theres not much around there but it’s very close to frisco high school. It is a little out of the way for me to come here so I might not be here too often but the teas are pretty good. It is also a bit pricey compared to other places. My tea was 4.50 each and extra for the boba coming out to be about a little under 6 dollars. I think for a tea it’s pricy but since they had the bogo it wasn’t too bad. Definitely worth a try though! Especially if you are new to frisco area and as you get thirsty as you explore what Frisco has to offer.

RareTea Berkeley Menu with Prices 2440 Bancroft Way, Berkeley

Very disappointed. Wasted money, calories, time. It is no secret, I love boba and I try my best to sample new places so I can yelp about them too!!We wanted to try a new place in Berkley and saw high stars and lots of reviews for this place so thought of giving it a go. The location has limited parking options and is best to walk to it ( from the Main Street ) or park far and walk. It is a small place which looked very make shift for some reason. The menu is limited and has been categorised well actually for ease of ordering. We got the Taro boba tea (cold) and the Coffee milk tea with boba ( hot). Both orders costs $9.00 making this not a cheap place and very comparable to other boba places. The hot drink was not hot !! Yes , it was maybe luke warm. I brought that to the attention of the staff and they microwaved it in front me. Still not hot. The flavour was so weak and the tea tasted more like water less like milk. The only good thing was the boba which by itself was actually good. The drink overall was not good 3/10. The Taro drink was better than the hot one but also lacked good flavour and was very watered down. 4/10. The boba itself had great texture but the drink diminished the boba completely. We left very unhappy and I unfortunately would not recommend this to anyone.

Kernol’s Donuts – Menu with Prices – 12201 NC-150 #5, Winston-Salem

A really great experience. I got the large coconut boba tea and a donut with white frosting and Fruity Pebbles on top. The boba tea was immaculately sweet and delicious. The donut was amazing and not as sweet as a Dunkins or Crispy Creme donut but I mean that in a good way. The lady that served me at the counter was polite and efficent. She low key gave me a free bag of donut holes too with my purchase. I guess why not when I came in 20 minutes before closing time. The only negative I have for this place is the limited flavor menu for the boba tea. Would have loved to have had lychee flavor. Highly recommended if you’re looking for good boba tea and donuts.

Chick-fil-A – Menu with Prices – 3912 N Roxboro St, Durham

I went to the Chick-fil-a on Roxboro rd and I found a baby roach laying dead on my chicken mini’s. I ordered the 6 count combo and had already eaten 2 mini’s and most of my hashbrowns before I noticed the roach. I immediately returned the remaining mini’s for a refund. I politely asked to speak with the manager in private so I could show him without alarming any customers. He looked surprised and asked could he touch it…I said sure cause I’m not eating it. He asked would I like another combo or refund. I definitely don’t want any more food from here but I’ll take my refund. He only refunded me for the mini’s and not the full meal. Smh..even though it’s only a dollar difference, I wasted my time and gas coming back up here and you can’t even give me my full refund after you guys messed this up. The audacity of this guy! Smh..never again! Wish I could give it negative stars.

MISA’S PIZZA – Menu with Prices – 16-2595 Main St, Winnipeg

First thing I noticed was the quality of the crust; top 3 to 5 pizza crusts I’ve ever enjoyed. Misa’s also has some pretty creative and tasty combo pies, like the sweet and sour chicken. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, don’t pass on their mini donuts. Little pillows of delight.

Lollicup Tea Zone – Menu with Prices – 1550 E H St #H, Chula Vista

My go to boba place even though there’s a boba place across the street from me! The boba here is always nicely chewy and sweet. Usually, when you get boba late at night or close to closing, a shop’s boba is hard and VERY unappealing. But fear not, this boba shop has fresh boba even to the very end of the day. The drinks are blended to perfection. Drinks are not too sweet– if you’d like a modification on sweetness, just let a worker know! The shop is pretty spacious. However, if you go right after one of the schools get out, chances are you’ll be around a lot of middle/high schoolers. If you do catch yourself in this time, don’t worry because the line goes by pretty fast and your drinks come in a timely manner. The owners are amazing and friendly as always. Today, I went to the shop to get a friend a gift. I got a Taro slush with boba, bag of Sour Patch kids, and a gift certificate. The owner offered to put the bag of candy and gift certificate in a boba cup and seal it! It was super cute! To overlook this place would be a crime. It’s not the trendiest looking place, but it is the tastiest.

Cha Express – Menu with Prices – 46164 Warm Springs Blvd #234, Fremont

So thought this place was going to be good but overall the drinks are way too sweet. I went over the weekend for their grand opening buy one get one free special and tried 4 different drinks. Tried the guava and grapefruit, Hawaiian tea, kumquat lemon tea, and their classic yunnan milk tea. Ordered all drinks 50% sweet and 50% ice. The only drink that was okay was the yunnan milk tea. All the others were way too sweet even at 50% they tasted more like 125% sugar and that was without adding any toppings. If you like your boba extra sweet, this place is for you but I prefer to taste the tea in my drinks. The service was friendly but even though the line wasn’t too long maybe 20 people, it still took about 45 minutes from start to end to receive the order. Drinks are also about $5 without any toppings, a bit on the pricey side for boba. Would be worth it if it didn’t taste like straight sugar. Most likely won’t be back.

K & J Rib Shack – Menu with Prices – 4255 S Court St, Montgomery

I don’t understand how this place is the #1 BBQ place in Montgomery. My buddy was in from Utah and wanted BBQ, so we got on Yelp to find the best place. According to other people, K&J is fantastic, which is the exact opposite of what we experienced last night. First off, I am not hard to please. My only expectation is that when I pay you for a meal I want it to taste better than if I prepared it myself. If it’s not even as good as I can make for 1/5th of the cost, then I don’t want it. From the time we walked in to the time we got our food was 55 minutes. Yes. Seriously. 55 minutes. It really wasn’t that busy and it isn’t that big of a place. I figured the food must be really good because it took so long to prepare. It took so long, in fact, that they gave people their food one at a time. There were two other tables while we were there and people would be finished eating before everyone at their table even got their food. Now. The food itself. I got a pulled pork sandwich and mac’n’cheese. My buddy got ribs, a pulled pork sandwich, okra, and mac’n’cheese. Friends, I’m not exaggerating when I tell you it was straight up one of the worst BBQ meals I’ve ever had. The pork was incredibly tough and the mac’n’cheese tasted as if it had been sitting out for a while. And by “a while” I mean three days. It was stale and bland. My buddy gave me a rib and it was tough and flavorless. He agreed with my assessment of the pork and mac’n’cheese. He said the only part of his meal that was decent was the okra. The only thing I invested at K&J that’s was worth anything was their sauce. These folks at least make a good BBQ sauce. To put it in perspective, I’ve been in the Army for fifteen years. I’ve eaten some really terrible food in some really terrible places. With that said, given the choice between K&J and an MRE, I’d take an MRE. Think about that for a moment. That’s how terrible K&J was last night. It’s possible they were having an off night, though I’ll never know because I won’t be going back.

Fresh Smoothies & Cafe – Menu with Prices – 2450 Creston Ave, The Bronx

I would like to think it was because I came in 15 min to closing but that shouldnt change the attitude that you have towards the customer. I walked in and the ladies were talking they looked at me and continued talking. Very disrespectful didnt get greeted or anything, so I said excuse me and asked for what I wanted. Then I told her ill buy an orange juice aswell only for the simple fact that I wanted to see the machine working she stated that the machine is off and the juice was premade that defeated the purpose of wanting the juice so I didnt get it, but They have a lil process that’s done to meet customers satisfaction they serve you an ounce or 2 of w.e. smoothie you ordered to taste for perfection incase you want to add anything or change anything but as I get my sample the lady started to pour it in the cup, didnt wait for my opinion. It wasnt as cold as I would have wanted it to be but didnt wanna start anything I just said it was fine. The one moping gets mad because my boots were dirty she told me to stand by the door and the other lady tells me to come over to the cashier to pay and the one mopping gets mad. I just think for a first time experience on a Friday night it should have been a little better.. I’ll come again another time maybe I’ll change my rating but as of now very disappointed

TNL Boba Tea – Menu with Prices – 3829 Plaza Dr Suite 605, Oceanside

I’ve actually gone to this boba place several times when it first opened years ago. My mom and I were very frequent purchasers and the staff ended up knowing my order every time. That’s a plus on customer service. They are a very sweet family, so please be patient with them. Years ago, they were just getting the hand of the amount of orders they received, which is why older reviews state that they might be a little slow; however, after lots of practice, they’re getting drinks out super fast. 5/5 for customer service, they care about their customers and friendly to newcomers It’s been a while now but they have completely improved their drink operation. From generic cups with a logo sticker placed on it to using printed circular cups with an automated machine to place the film on top of the boba, I believe they’re doing well in the case of self-improvement for their brand. Drink quality has improved and I’m happy about the selection of toppings I could get. Years ago, the tapioca was a hit or miss on chewiness but now, I believe they nailed it. My favorite is the honey boba because they make it fresh and it’s soft enough. I originally ordered the regular sized Royal Milk Tea with boba which is under $5. Please note that if you’re using CARD, you’ll be charged a fee if the entire order is under $5. Thankfully, I was told this before I inserted my card, and the employee suggested I get a larger size to reach $5. I was fine with that it was only a few cents for the larger size. It’s a family business and merchant fees get expensive for them. I have no idea if they can find a way around this issue, but I know people might rate them lower because of this. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here after a couple of years. It’s a good boba fix if you’re in North County SD. Please note that this place is CLOSED on Mondays!

J?s Mini Hot Pot – Menu with Prices – 2174 Pleasant Hill Rd #101, Duluth

This is my go-to place for mini hotpot. The price is very reasonable with the amount of vegetables and meat you get for each order. My most favorite thing about this place is their sauce bar. They have several house special pre-made sauce that were super delicious to dipping. I usually order the sea and land combo with beef and beef bone soup. But recently, I discovered they have snow crab option and it was amazing. The snow crab was fresh and sweet. They came pre-cooked, so you just need to put them in the boiling hotpot so couple minutes to heat them up. They also have fresh fruit smoothies and boba tea. My two favorites are watermelon smoothie and taro milk tea. I love to make my dipping sauce and broth soup super spicy, so these cold drinks are great for cooling me down and make a perfect combo with the hotpot

Cuzcatlan Restaurant Menu with Prices 1330 S Magnolia Ave, Anaheim

Pupusas here were really yummy and filling. We ordered the 3 pupusa and drink combo- tried the cheese and beans, cheese and spinach, and cheese with squash and they were all delicious. The sizes of them are larger than the average. I believe two with a sufficient amount of the pickled cabbage is efficient to quench a hungry person’s appetite. Unfortunately they don’t serve tamales until the nighttime which I intended on getting. I ended up having to change my review because upon paying for the lunch she ended up adding fees to the combo.. apparently the vegetarian combo is $.50 extra for EACH pupusa and then the price for the plantains plate went from $5.50 to $6.99 which was misleading because both signs had different prices… I feel like she hustled us by having us pay after our meal rather than before. $40 meal for two people was a bit much for the amount of food we got.. I won’t be going back here.
