There really isn’t very much to say about this place. From the outside, it looks more enticing than are the groceries inside. Because there isn’t much competition in the area for groceries of this sort, I think they know that and use it to increase prices. That’s one of my bigger gripes – it’s over-prices. Basically, it is a small grocery store and the rows are rather tight. My guess is that there are 6 aisles, give or take. Produce is in the back. Candy and sweets are at the front. The ice cream section is like that of a bodega, in a freezer under the register. I have never eaten from it but also in the back, there seems to be a prepares foods deli-like area. They also sell essential oils at the counter. I have noticed pricey candles in the front area from time to time. The workers are, well, workers. There’s nothing outstanding about them such as being particularly friendly. This doesn’t matter but I believe the owners are of Middle eastern decent, and again, I’m not taking points off from it, but know that you may loudly hear them talking to one-another, in Arabic. Overall, there is nothing that stands out at this place. Yet, there’s nothing particularly “wrong” with it either. Thus, my 3 stars. I live about 8 blocks away and have never had any thought come to myself such as, ‘oh, we should go to the market to get so-and-so.’

Jerusalem Market on Elm – Menu with Prices – 310 S Elm St, Greensboro

Greensboro is blessed with so much amazing Middle Eastern Food. What is even more amazing is we have different parts of Jerusalem represented in this culinary diversity. I love this place–an offshoot of their original location. The food is outstanding, but being on Elm, the prices are a little higher for the size of the portions. Still, I’d argue their portions are healthy-sized nutritionally. The Zataar Pita is outstanding and unique. They should package and sell that commercially. Still, the service and warmth of the owner, and staff is outstanding and the food is tasty, fresh and transcendent. They do need to add Turkish Coffee. Get a few desserts and also select from their well chosen mix of North Carolina regional beers and wines. Bonus-you can order their food at Scuppernong Books a few door down and enjoy Scuppernong’s own great selection of beers, wines, teas, coffees, desserts, books, and, most importantly, good company. Excellent vegan choices, including dessert. Nice, strong health score and very clean and well run kitchen. Oh-and one thing I love, especially in retrospect after a few days between reviewing and eating, is that it this place feels like Jerusalem in the 80’s – before Starbucks attempted, and failed, to gain a foothold in Israel or Arab lands. I will definitely be back. I was on the verge of giving it a 4 but the location earns it that fifth star. Is it the best Middle Eastern food in Greensboro? Probably not. But overall, it’s a really nice dining experience. Welcome addition to Elm St.! Counter ordering delivered to your table. Outdoor patio available. We sat inside-too hot on that day.

Falafel-N-Load – Menu with Prices – 1415 N New Rd, Waco

I stayed in Waco for a month for an external rotation for my school. I searched places to eat and looked up everywhere for some good Middle Eastern food until I came across this place. I went on a Sunday night and met the two owners and they were really nice. They had recently opened their food truck and next to it they built a cool little hookah bar named Shiaha Cafe. I love hookah and I know a lot about Middle eastern food and hookah. I ordered the Kabob sandwich and an Al Fakhir hookah with watermelon/peach flavor. The food was really tasty and fresh. The French Frieda were crispy the sandwich was delicious. On top of that the hookah and the service was 5 star! I loved it so much that I went there a couple of more times and every time I went received great service. I definitely recommend this place.

Mediterranean Roots Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 4200 Portsmouth Blvd, Chesapeake

Eh ok. If you have ever had middle eastern food this place doesn?t have much flavor. I had the shawarma and even though the chicken does have good flavor I didn?t think it had enough flare! They use hummus not garlic sauce. I put my French fries in it too but still not up to my standards. The guy at the counter was an amazing guy and I feel bad saying it was just ok because he was so friendly and lively!! He is trying to redo their menu and shows initiative so maybe they will add some garlic sauce in and it would be soooo amazing!! The lemonade is fresh and very good! I wish I could?ve given it more stars but I have had other middle eastern food and this just was not as good. Not bad but not as good.

Jerusalem Bakery – Menu with Prices – 1456 E Michigan Ave, Lansing

This is a small place that is mostly for carry out. Their website states ‘Dine in or Carry out’ but the day we were there I didn’t see anywhere to ‘Dine in’! Most things on the menu are made in house and very fresh. The falafels we ordered were fried up right when we ordered them! They also carry quite a large supply of canned foods, spices & seasonings, grains ect. from the Middle East. The owners/employees were quite friendly and helpful and happy to answer any of our questions. I recently visited Israel and can tell you that if you are wanting some authentic Middle Eastern food……this is your place!

Sahara Mediterranean Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 3061 Fieldstone Way, Lexington

I had been to this shopping area where this restaurant is located several times, but had never noticed the restaurant. It was recommended by a friend, and so I went there for lunch, There was a line to get in the door (this was shortly after noon), but it moved quickly, and the staff were extremely efficient in taking and filling orders. This was some of the best Middle Eastern food I have ever had. Their $6.99 lunch special was a huge, delicious meal, including choice of entrée (I had the best chicken shwarma) , rice, Greek salad, hummus, and a giant tender pita bread. There is a shop next door selling halal meats and ingredients for Middle Eastern food. Tragically, this restaurant will close for the summer in a few days. I hope to make another visit before that happens, maybe to bring home one of the big family-style take out meals they offer.

Sipan Bakery – Menu with Prices – 1250 W Glenoaks Blvd C, Glendale

Savory and spice and everything nice here at Sipan Bakery! When I first drove by, I saw “bakery” and stopped by to pick up a sweet treat. What I found instead was one of the most delicious Middle Eastern bakeries serving mostly baked savory goodies made fresh at this location. My go to is the Mushroom Beoreks ($2.00) and the Spinach Beoreks ($2.25). Each of these doughy pockets is filled with the ingredients (vegan friendly) and baked until golden brown. They are a delicious snack and freeze well. Another one of my favorites is the Zahtar Maneish ($2.00) and Lahmajune ($2.00). The Zahtar had a heavy thyme, sumac and sesame flavoring. So much flavor with each bite! The Lahmajune reminded me of a Middle Eastern thin crust pizza and I thoroughly enjoyed while it was prepared fresh. I have brought these as gifts and my guests have raved over them. If you never been to a Middle Eastern Bakery, this would be a perfect choice with all the home made selection including wraps, paninis, a twist on tacos and salads. They are located in a small strip mall and open 7 days a week. The owner is extremely friendly and went out of his way to complete my order even though they were out of stock. As for sweets, you’ll have to keep on looking, but for savory this hits the spot.

Mi Casita Dulce Restaurant Menu with Prices 502 W Gordon St, Allentown

There are plenty of Dominican restaurants in Allentown, but this place is the best, hands down. The quality of the food and the gracefulness of the owners is unmatched elsewhere. I have tried at least 8 other restaurants in the area and none compare to this one. The owners seem like hardworking people who are serious about their business and maintaining good relationships with their customers. Every time I have ordered takeout or gone there to eat, the workers are attentive in asking all the necessary questions to make sure you are satisfied. Prices are also decent and portions are generous. If you want food served with love, check this place out. The area can be busy but it’s worth it. The homemade flavor will keep you going back for more.

Palm Tree Market – Menu with Prices – 2702 Parade St, Erie

Tons of spices to paw through! Many exotic ingredients and traditional Middle Eastern products. They have a small cafe in the back that features a deli with baked goods and such. I literally was not only the only non-eastern but the only girl as well, but don’t be put off by that, its worth it! I had the falafel ‘sandwich’, which is served on a fresh baked pita with pickled radishes, yellow bell pepper and some chopped iceberg with a tangy yogurt dressing. Expect to wait at least 15 minutes, because they take the time to do it the right way. It was pretty much the best felafel I’ve ever had in Erie. Better still, it was only 3.50$. Had some delicious turkish delight and the store owner/front end guy was very nice too.

Döner USA #2 – Menu with Prices – 2907 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs

I appreciate the owners’ attention to the freshness of the food, and the little things offered during our dining experience. This is a diner, with limited seating, a serviceable atmosphere but some shortcomings. Food: 4 – Good and fresh, and better flavor than any fast food middle eastern chain. Ambiance: 3 – Smaller space, TV going, not the nicest but pretty clean Service: 4 – Very attentive to our table Value: 3 – I was disappointed that the picture of the chicken kabob showed a whole chicken breast on the skewer, which I hoped was the case, as I was hungry. Alas, only about a cup of cubed chicken, which while very tasty was ultimately unsatisfying. Noticed the same for other entrees – smallish portions of protein. STILL, for $10 it was a reasonable price for dinner. OVERALL 3.5 STARS for a decent plate of food with friendly service, in a “nothing fancy” location and atmosphere.

Wegmans Sub Shop – Menu with Prices – 5028 W Ridge Rd, Erie

Wegmans never disappoints!! They have the best subs and their sushi is great. I love how everything is all made right in front of you. The employees are always super helpful and friendly. I love taking my kids here because every department you walk past they offer your kids something to make grocery shopping easier. Plus Wegmans brand for any type of food is usually better than name brand groceries.

Jukebox Ice Cream Parlor – Menu with Prices – 1937 E State Blvd, Fort Wayne

Came into town for a couple days and this happens to be the best hangout during our stay. It was horribly hot and what better way to cool down with ice cream right? Well, this little shop had the creamiest ice cream and more. Apparently they serve hot dogs, chips, root beer and coffee as well. Cold brew was outstanding and all their prices are reasonable. It’s more like a little café rather than just an ice cream shop. The staff was super friendly and they tell me that they rotate menu items and ice cream flavors, so next week they’re serving Italian beef sandwiches. We ended up spending a couple hours here to snack and rest from the heat. It wasn’t busy cuz it was a Tuesday afternoon so I whipped out the laptop and my little girl played with a ball from their toy machine while listening to jukebox music. She had so much fun I’m sure I would’ve been kicked out elsewhere. I would be back to sit in their front patio with sandwiches if I could. As far as ice cream, rush hour is my favorite cuz it’s got those chocolate covered cocoa beans and I got it on top of an upside down pineapple cake. Yes, that’s right. Not just the option of your typical banana split. Isnt that awesome?

George’s Bakery – Menu with Prices – 308 Grafton St, Worcester

I’m surprised there aren’t more reviews for George’s. This is a great little place with an amazing assortment of middle eastern food-hard to believe they can pack so much in such a small space. I have eaten their grape leaves, both with and without meat, their koosa, tabouleh, baklava and many, many other things bit I ALWAYS make sure to pick up some spinach or meat pies-they are fantastic. One pie makes for an entire meal and they are very reasonably priced. Nice, accomodating staff too. A few grocery stores used to carry some of their food but sadly stopped so now I have to go straight to the source. If you live in or are visiting Worcester and like middle eastern food, you will love George’s-and it’s not far off the Mass Pike exit at Grafton Street.
