Vida Vegan makes vegan food actually taste good, which is not an easy thing to accomplish. I have been so excited to bring my mom and sister, the family vegans, here. I’m not vegan but there are quite a few offerings I actually enjoy! First of all, I would like to say the extent of alcohol and non alcoholic beverage offerings is fantastic. I am obsessed with the alcoholic kombucha in both flavors. The fried sandwich is delicious. It has a meat substitute that is actually palatable with the toppings they’ve chosen for it. I’m obsessed with the corn, the fries are heavenly and perfectly crispy, and the wontons are good too. Every dessert I’ve tried here is amazing. The tarte is super rich and the carrot cake tastes better than non vegan carrot cakes. Save room! I like this place for vegans, I like it for non vegans, but most importantly I like it as a spot where all diets can come together, dine, and leave happy!

Simon’s Hot Dogs – Menu with Prices – 4280 N Drinkwater Blvd #200, Scottsdale

COLOMBIANOS EN PHOENIX!! This spot is literally a hidden gem, snugged deep in old town Scottsdale by the fashion square. On the weekends, they have arepas!! They are also amazing because not only is it Colombian food but it is VEGAN food as well. Everything on their menu can be turned into vegan so it’s a great compromise spot (as some of you vegans who are married to non vegans can relate). I on my first visit I got the Colombian hot dog and it was so delicious. The coleslaw and crushed potato chips with pineapple sauce on top of vegan hot dog was so delicious, I couldn’t believe they made that happen! And the French fries are so crispy and thick and delicious, literally talking about it makes me want to eat them again. Their vegan Mac and Cheese is soo warm and delicious and if you are latina takes you down memory lane to when you would have home cooked food. Today for lunch, I had the Colombian vegan burger and the patty made of lentils, seeds and beets was so well made and put together, it was the best legume based burger I have had at a restaurant. Try this place out the next time you are in Scottsdale old town! The staff is so sweet and warm, such love in what they provide to their customers.

The Meridia Apartments – Menu with Prices – 522 S Boston Ave, Tulsa

This place is a vegan dream. My wife and I (both vegan) have been for dinner and brunch (in under 24 hours) here. Brunch was my favourite. Dinner was great but having another spot in Tulsa with substantial vegan options beyond smoothies, granola, and oatmeal is RAD. On each menu, there were plenty of vegan options and the menu helpfully has all of that labeled on it, making for an easy ordering experience. For dinner I had the jackfruit al pastor with the coconut corn chowder. Both were awesome. The wife had Korean cauliflower banh mi with the twister fries. Her choice was also tasty. The cocktail I had was awesome, it was a Local Bison variation on a Manhattan. We ordered the fried green tomatoes & beer battered onion rings and, again, excellent. Fried up just right, crispy and delicious without being greasy– omnomnom indeed. For brunch I had the biscuits and gravy with tempeh snausage and a tofu scramble. The gravy was excellent, creamy tasty, rich, it was done to perfection. The tempeh snausage was spiced just right, it was so good. The tofu scramble here is now in the top tofu scrambles I’ve had. It was awesome. My wife got the breakfast burrito. She liked it a lot. I tried the salsa and it was super tasty. Vegans, go here now! The food is so good, the service is great, the cocktails are awesome. Just a side note, our omni friends who’ve been also report liking the non-vegan stuff.

Roxbury Urban Dive Bar – Menu with Prices – 1743 Grafton St, Halifax

This new hip bar is absolutely AMAZING! We walked in and were greeted insteantkt and felt so much warmth. Their neon sign for the R for Roxbury inside is too cool. They have a DJ in ‘the cage’ which holds a DJ until 330 am. Their entire menu is 5$ – everything. From burgers and fries to curry dishes and desserts. We tried the ‘hot line bling burger’ with sweet potato fries, Bollywood curry and a jerk chicken taco. The burger was super spicy but absolutely amazing, the sweet potato fries were incredibly crispy. The Bollywood curry has fresh chicken and broccoli – so much flavour and the rice was perfect. The tacos- the chicken was unbelievable and perfectly cooked – you could smell it before you ate it. We finished with a sweet carrot cake – everything was absolute perfection. I rarely fall in love with a restaurant but this restaurant I truly hope lasts. Their food, atmosphere and just their overall ambience is electric. 100% recommend.

Cantu’s Tacos – Menu with Prices – 320 Corpus Christi St, Laredo

Omg this place is amazing. A little hole in the wall taco joint bursting with flavor and AMAZING service. My friends got al pastor on corn and asada on flour and I got a desebrada on corn, chicharron on corn, and tripe on corn. All of them were fantastic-loaded with meat, onions, tomatoes, and avocado served with a wonder verde hot sauce and delicious beans. The chicharron was super fresh and very flavorful, the tripe was amazing and tender but not oily, the desebrada was perfect. And the corn tortillas were crispy and wonderful. Highly highly recommend!!!!!

The Full Bowl – Menu with Prices – Inside NewBo City Market, 1100 3rd St SE, Cedar Rapids

Many vegans around me recommended it, so we gave it a try. All food we got was delicious and fresh. No Coast Bowl: I could taste each ingredient disrinctly and at the same time, they mingled well. I especially liked the mild kick of green onion and cilantro in the mix. Black bean was soft and melted in my mouth. Two of us shared the bowl and a couple of side dishes together, and I wished we had ordered the large bowl instead of the regular. Vegan corn muffin: a must item! It’s only $1.50 and it’s worth every penny. Very savory, not so sweet, and crumbly with real corn kennels inside. Lots of fun chewing it and also filling. Grilled vegan sausage: they use Tofurky brand. It’s half of a sausage stick. I wish they use a whole. Oh, well. It went well with the corn muffin and the bowl. It would be a bit dry to eat it by itself. They don’t have vegan cheese on their menu, so I asked. They said when they tried it a while ago, they didn’t like the taste. I recommended that they try one by Follow Your Heart. Note that this is a booth in an indoor market. So you pick up your food and eat in the seating area or out in the lawn. They also change menu frequently and have a limited open hour.

Angry Goldfish Pub & Eatery – Menu with Prices – 2301 SW 9th St, Des Moines

After seeing so many good reviews from here, we finally had to check it out and were not at all disappointed! It definitely lives up to the hype!!! We came in for my dad’s birthday and had an amazing early dinner. Our server Maddie was fantastic and super friendly. We started off with their Angry goldfish crackers, which were actually not as spicy as I thought they were going to be, they have a nice heat but not burn your mouth off! And are super cheap! We also ordered the Beer cheese dip with pretzels and that is one of the best beer cheese dips I have had in the metro! The pretzels are super soft and buttery and I did keep the cheese dip to use on my fries because I couldn’t let it go to waste. I ordered the Boursain burger with Parmesan fries, and it was to die for!! So much pesto, melted cheese, and caramelized onions made it rich and delicious! The Parmesan fries were also delicious and perfectly cooked! (they are especially good with the beer cheese) My hubby ordered the Crispy chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce, he really enjoyed it and said it was delicious and pretty spicy! My mom ordered Fish n chips and the fish was cooked perfectly and had a great tartar sauce and coleslaw, also served with a hefty portion of Parmesan Fries. My dad ordered the Graziano’s Meatloaf and it was full of flavor, their angry ketchup was delicious with just a bit of heat! The mashed potatoes, corn and cornbread (with homemade honey butter) also great! Overall AMAZING food/service/atmosphere, will definitely be back!! * Just a note- get here early because there is VERY limited parking and it’s not a big place! (If you have a larger group you may want to consider car pooling)

Cambridge Deli & Grill – Menu with Prices – 90 River St #3805, Cambridge

Amazing sandwiches and BBQ. Enter my new favorite casual lunch spot in Cambridge. Can a Tuna Club Sandwich have the ‘wow’ factor? Yes, but not by trying to be fancy or different. All it has be be is good. Good salad, fresh veggies, perfectly toasted bread, perfectly crispy bacon, good assembly, made to order. As Michael Fassbender would say: Perfection. This amazing sandwich comes with a quarter pickle spear, a pickle slice, fries, onion rings, and wait for it… less than $10. I don’t know if the fries were completely homemade, but they were perfect. Super fresh, perfectly crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned. Quite simply perfect french fries. The onion rings were really tasty too. For just $15 or so, you can get yourself a pretty legitimate plate of BBQ. The chicken was juicy and the ribs tender. The plate came with a choice of side, salad, toast, two legs, one thigh, and 3 large ribs. Not too shabby either… Service is extremely friendly and welcoming. You can tell they take pride in their food (as they should.) The one downside is that good things made to order sometimes take a little bit of time, so if you are in a rush call ahead to have your order ready for takeout. Simple. Good. Food.

The Sheridan Room – Menu with Prices – 337 13th Ave NE, Minneapolis

The Sheridan Room is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant for all–vegans, omnivores, local beer lovers, craft cocktail connoisseurs, and anyone looking to either dress up or down for dinner. Inside feels and feels historic, comfy, clean, with some trendy touches. You can grab a casual bite or come a bit gussied up. We came here during Vegan Week in August and were so impressed with the specials. They usually have a handful of great vegan items on their regular menu, but we were excited by the upscale additions, including Herbivorous Butcher mock meat. I got the Dill With It cocktail (aquavit, lime, fresh dill, peppercorn, absinthe) and it was so good that I got another. To start, we got the vegan bacon-wrapped scallops and salt cured carrot lox. The “scallops” were mushrooms, though I think I would have preferred a contrast in texture like chestnuts. But I appreciated that it was innovative and local. The salt cured lox came with a mint cream cheese on baguette–very well done! We could have just used more! For an entree, I had to jump (vegan) ship and go with the Big Ass Fried Chicken Sandwich and I was not disappointed with the humongous crispy juicy tender fried chicken flailing out of the bun. My boyfriend got the mock duck a l’orange and I was very pleased with both the presentation and flavor. It wasn’t quite a five star experience, though, because the service was very slow and the sides/appetizer portions were quite small.

Soul n’ Vinegar – Menu with Prices – 2832 R St, Richmond

They recently catered a large event for me – where I had to accommodate vegans, paleos, omnivores, foodies, gluten-free, corn-allergy, and – hardest of all – conservative eaters who don’t like “new” foods. The owner Michelle is awesome – super nice/friendly/easy to work with. The food came on time and was set up beautifully, but, most importantly, everyone was super happy – the food was absolutely delicious, and everyone who complimented was THRILLED to know about the store front in Church Hill – where the menu changes weekly and there is lots of grab & go food. There were plenty of leftovers – and enough of the ham salad & pimento cheese leftovers for late night guests to eat a second round. I cannot recommend Soul N Vinegar enough – would absolutely use their catering again and will continue to stop by for grab&go from their super cute storefront. Just to shout out a few things – you cannot go wrong with the ham salad, pimento cheese, or vegan dirty rice…. but, yes, everything I have tried has been AMAZING! Seriously – please check them out mad if you’re looking for a caterer, give her a call!!!

Tortas Manny – Menu with Prices – 845 W Southern Ave, Phoenix

Tortas Manny is a great torta place located in the same complex as Food City. It’s very unassuming and super authentic so you are in for a treat if you swing by! I dropped by after work on a Friday afternoon and grabbed some tortas to go for dinner. I got the vegetarian torta and got my friend a green chile beef torta with a side of fries. I also got some elote for my friend as well. The tortas come with a side of some spicy spicy hot sauce/salsa which I was personally obsessed with. The vegetarian torta was delicious — filled with cheese, avocado, jalapeno, tomato, and some lettuce. The bread was super good and I honestly could only eat half of a portion in one sitting since I devoured all the fries in one go *oops*. My friend enjoyed the beef torta, but felt that the elote had too little corn and too much crema + mayo. Overall, the food was great and the portions are amazing for the price. Service was super sweet and my food was ready in a jiffy. Definitely swing by if you are in the area and grab some great tortas on the most delicious bread!

Cugino Forno Pizzeria – Menu with Prices – 1160 Revolution Mill Dr, Greensboro

Local pizza isn’t getting any better than this. I’ve never had a pizza experience quite like this one. When you first step in you are greeted by a huge open space with big communal tables. Something I enjoy personally. They don’t have different pizza sizing which would normally be kind of bothersome but it’s the perfect size for 2 people. Considering the thinner crust and fresh toppings. Yes the pizza and the atmosphere are almost perfect, but let’s take a second to discuss the real star of the show here. The Italian fruit tarte. Forget everything you thought you knew about a fruit tarte no kiwi no strawberry’s and thankfully none of that weird chocolate layer you would normally find in a tarte. This is pure heaven, let me set the stage. Flakey buttery crust on the bottom, thick but also surprisingly light sweet whipped filling, finish it off with some beautiful concoction of slightly jellied sour berries and you’re in for a real treat. You dazzled me with your pizza but I’m staying for the deserts

Pure Kitchen Elgin – Menu with Prices – 340 Elgin St, Ottawa

I?m not one to write a review, but my experience here was too good not to! I?m a frequent visitor of vegan restaurant in the Montreal area, and I manage one myself, but this by far was the best one I?ve been to! You could taste that the food was fresh, made from scratch and that they put their heart into it. The service far met our expectations! The staff was super friendly and it was evident they felt confident in the food they served. We were serve by Bridgette and Katie, and they did an exceptional job in making our time spent there a memorable one! It?s also a great place to bring non vegans to! The liberty wrap was amazing! We will definitely be back!
