This is a really cool place. We stopped in after finding it quite by accident. Actually, we were surprised that it was open in the middle of the day for some reason but it was! They specialize in breads and water crackers and have been around a long, long time. And at this location! I knew nothing about Armenian goodies. The gal working inside was super sweet and was informative about this history of Lahvosh and some of its history. The walls are adorned with old time photos of the shop and how it has changed over the years. We saw many Hollywood stars signed photos who have likely tried the product or graced their doors. We got samples of the crackers (heart shaped!) and bought some fresh sesame seed buns. Also, we purchased a round bread on the $2 day old table. Still fresh. Have yet to try the bread as we are saving them for a special occasion but we were told they freeze really well – great! So, we froze them as soon as we got home but have all the confidence that they will be yummy. I have to go back as they sell Armenian butter but they were out. I have a weakness for good butter and I want to try. They also sell cold drinks in the cooler. All prices very reasonable.

Bagelicious Deli & Bakery – Menu with Prices – 2459 SW 27th Ave, Ocala

I did not eat at this restaurant. I bought bagels to go. They were perfectly fine bagels. I was very glad to find them, because the stores here sell doughnut-shaped dinner rolls and call them bagels. If you want a real bagel, like the ones they sell in big cities, this place will sell it to you. Big negative: I didn’t seen lox or nova on the menu. This is incomprehensible. God created salmon to go on bagels.

Duke Bakery – Menu with Prices – 15435 Jeffrey Rd #105, Irvine

awful service! I’ve been to Duke many times. one of their selling points is that you can try the bread before you buy, so you know you’ll like it! Unless you have a b working there. We got there around 11 am, and only a few samples were out. We were waiting for specific samples to try, and the woman was behind the counter cutting additional samples. Then, she stopped and was just standing there watching us. Giving us a look. Even though she had many more samples cut, she left them behind the counter. I’m sure she thought that we were just going to try samples and not buy anything. We asked to try one specific sample, and she rolled her eyes and said ok in a terse manner. Well, we bought about $30 worth of bread. After she saw all that we were buying, she changed her attitude a little bit – too little too late That was extremely off-putting. I’ve also referred some friends there, but maybe I’ll do so with a caveat now. Ive also been there many times before and they use Five stars. Yet, somehow, I only had points from today’s purchase…. I suppose when I make purchases, I enter my number and then don’t apply the points. Thanks for the great customer service and friendly attitude. Why u gotta be so stuck up ?

Foods of the Mediterranean Menu with Prices 1825 W Chew St, Allentown

I’ve only gotten food to go. Their hummus is some damned fine food. They are NOT stingy with the tahini! They’re making some worthy hummus here. The Mediterranean pizza? I bought it. My expectations were not high. I had the $, I was hungry. I took a shot. That was a surprisingly delicious li’l pizza! It was $5, and I wasn’t mad at all. The Mediterranean mix was filling, and tasty. I added a little melted butter when I got home, because I bought it, so it was mine to do with what I wanted. Tough. Really good without the butter, completely ridiculous with it! I inhaled it. Falafel was good, made better because they don’t skimp on the tahini. They sell za’atar bread (from Soumaya & Sons), and it’s always fresh and delicious. Their veggie and non-veggie kibbyes are great! The bulgur coating is crisp, not dry, when you reheat it. I really like this joint, and the price point is reasonable.

The Oyster Bar – Menu with Prices – 153 Paredes Line Rd, Brownsville

Great news- the ceviche was awesome. The server was attentive and answered our questions. It’s on the carb selection where things get dicey. The ceviche is served with packaged saltine crackers. Meh. The bread and butter-like spread was not great, could have been warmed more, with real butter. The fish tacos on corn tortillas tasted nice and fresh, but very under-spiced, with no sauce or salsa to out on it. If you have people who don’t like spices or sauces, and you’d like to eat a fabulous ceviche with a fork, this is your place. A coworker ordered shrimp, they had a lot of bread on them. Everyone ate all of their food, but no one really loved it.

Honey Bakery Menu with Prices 2000 S Havana St, Aurora

I did note the pictures of the cakes below ~ I have never had their cakes but I have never walked in and seen mold on their cakes; perhaps this was a singular incident; perhaps not. All of their packaged breads and pastries are baked daily and they usually sell out on a daily basis- what they do not sell is put on a pedestal marked off as “Yesterday’s Bread”. I have shopped at H-Mart Several times and each time I have stopped and purchased sweet breads from Honey Bakery. Everything I have purchased has tasted fresh and delicious, and is definitely home-made; if you don’t eat it, after a week, it will mold, just like home-made bread or cakes without preservatives. Maybe they forgot to change out the cakes for a week in the previous person’s experience, I don’t know. Things happen. Not saying that displaying moldy cakes is OK- but I have never had a bad experience with the goods I have purchased. Give them a try! If you are shied away because of the previous photo’s, be assured that all of the packaging on their breads and pastry’s is a clear plastic all around, so you can check out your goods before buying. I will say, however, that normally whoever is running the check out stand in their little shop is usually talking to someone, either another customer, or on the phone. But they still take care of you when you are ready to check out or if you have questions.

Hye Quality Bakery – Menu with Prices – 2222 Santa Clara St, Fresno

I’ve been buying the sesame wheat lavash from Hye Quality Bakery for years. I used to purchase from Valley Lahvash, but they downsized the number of crackers you get in each package, while increasing the price. With Hye Quality Bakery being just down the street, I gave them a try. In comparing the two bakeries I found the Hye Quality to have a lighter texture. The Valley Lavash cracker was too hard and clunky. Maybe this is why my grandmother always splashed the Valley Lavash with water before eating? I know that Valley Lavash gets all the fame and glamor. They have been in business longer than Hye Quality. They have a fancy website with recommendations from major newspapers. They have Facebook and a colorful website. Don’t let all that fool you! When you go to the store you are greeted by one employee, who just basically, is a cashier. Most likely they never grew up eating Armenian food, and can not exchange in a food conversation. At Hye Quality Bakery, on the other hand, you are greeted by someone versed in Armenian cuisine. You generally see three generations of family on any given visit. They are personable and friendly, passing down good work ethics to their great and grand children. Hye Quality ships their product world wide, but they bring down home charm to the local customer. Their premises are always spic and span. I love supporting a wholesome company with a great product, at a great price with great family values!

Paramount Bakeries Inc – Menu with Prices – 418 N 5th St, Newark

I bought this NY style Russian Rye, on a whim. I don’t usually like packaged Rye. It is By Far, the BEST RYE BREAD MY HOUSEHOLD HAS EVER HAD! Even my cats are loving it!!! They see the package, and beg for some. Toast it, with a little whipped Butter, and it’s off the hook delicious. Better than cake, or any snack. And, it’s very filling, for 70 Calories, Hopefully, it’s really 70 Cals. In any event? I bought this bread in Shop Rite , and now, are a total fan of it!, And I’m not even a huge bread eater!! Awesome!!!! You can’t go wrong eating this, toasted or right out of the package- It ROCKS!! Jacquie

The District at Mills 50 – Menu with Prices – 1221 N Mills Ave, Orlando

What a cute, cozy place! I stopped in here a while back just wasting time and stuck around for a big ol’ brownie with peanut butter vegan “ice cream.” It was fantastic! I reallllllly loved the peanut butter “ice cream.” I’ll definitely be back for more of that … or see what else they have to offer as I think they have different choices of baked goods and “ice cream” every few days! As for the shop, they have really unique and cute items. What impressed me the most were the photos of elephants that if purchased benefited the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (an organization that has my heart! Look them up if you love elephants and rhinos … they do great work.) So, I immediately fell in love with this store. They have soaps, clothes, vegan groceries/foods, etc. … you just have to spend a minute or two to look around. The gentleman who made my brownie and ice cream creation was super nice as well. I was the only one in the store at the time and he was nice enough to chat with me and tell me about the place. So stop by when you have a time … support this awesome small business … and if they have the peanut butter “ice cream”, get it!

Gluten Free Concepts – Menu with Prices – 3420 SE 21st Ave, Portland

WOW WOW WOW!!! I have never had better gluten free bread than Jensen’s bread. I accidentally discovered it on a recent trip to Napa, CA. Cafe Sarafornia offered gluten free toast. At first I was hesitant as I have had every imaginable miserable attempt at gluten free bread. I am happy I an persistant. WOW was I ever shocked and pleased. Even if this bread wasn’t gluten free it would be a stand out. My favorite so far is Multi-Grain & Seed Bread. My tastebuds were dancing!! Fast forward a week. I’m back home on the East coast and craving this amazing bread. Being an Amazon Prime member, I think I can order it via their website. No such luck. I search high and low. Nothing. I contacted the bakery via their FB page and the rest is history. I am desperately trying to get it to the east coast!

Rice & Roll – Menu with Prices – 234 Queen St, Ottawa

I had a late lunch here recently (around 2pm on a weekday). The place is small but has a lot of character and the couple working there are incredibly nice. The food is also fresh and delicious. I love maki rolls, but cannot eat sesame seeds, so I can never eat those pre-made packages, I need to have them made especially for me. I told them about my sesame seed issue and they said it was not a problem, they would make me my rolls without them. I got the Combo C ($6.99) (3 California rolls, 3 Spicy Salmon rolls and 6 Hosomaki (chef’s choice, I got 3 cucumber and 3 crab stick)) and a bottle of Orangina ($2.50). The maki were delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and the rice was expertly seasoned. The rice to other ingredients ratio was perfect and the rolls were a good size. I was offered a free bowl of miso soup and it was excellent. It was not too salty which is my most common complaint with miso soup. It didn’t have that much seaweed or tofu chunks in it though. However, miso soup is all about broth so I can’t fault them for that. The takeout menu says that the miso they use is certified organic. The place is very small, there are 2 round tables of 2, and a counter that seats 4. It’s more a takeout kind of place. The place is also very cozy and decorated with all sorts of Asian knick-knacks. It has a very warm feeling to it. The couple working there I’m sure are husband and wife. Their interactions with each other were very cute. When the man went to make my rolls, the woman reminded him “no sesame seeds.” They are very polite and nice. It is too bad that I do not work nor live around this place, because I would like to eat here more often. I will come back when I am in the area.

Beach City Provisions – Menu with Prices – 17851 Pacific Coast Hwy, Huntington Beach

This place is cool. Their regular hours on a Saturday is 10am, but they also have a sign that says if their door is open, then they’re open. So it was before 10 and their door was open so I walked in. I purchased some snacks and a beer. They have a rule that any alcohol purchased must be consumed on the patio area. So instead of buying 2 beers I bought 1, lol. They also offer you free pretzels if you purchase any alcoholic beverages. Outside it looks like they sell other hot food and cinnamon rolls. The people here are really nice and it’s a chill spot to hangout at.

Jiggle Berry Juice Bar Menu with Prices 3801 Olsen Blvd, Amarillo

I’ve spent the last 4 weeks in Amarillo and it was a struggle when it came to finding healthy spots to indulge in. Then I came across this gem! The staff was always nice to me and they were able to retain my order by heart on week 1. I ordered the Sunset with Spinach/Kale/Flax Seed/Chia Seed/Fat Burner and the order can be kind of complex to memorize but these guys did a fantastic job. Unfortunately my stay here has come to an end and I will miss the hospitality along with the ginger shots! Lol. You guys exceeded all of my expectations daily so thank you!
