So.. I’m not very happy.. I’m just a regular guy that really likes teriyaki. The chicken “teryaki” was awful. Plain and simple it was awful. Chicken teriyaki is comfort food, it’s not supposed to be some pretentious thing that is trying to be something it was never meant to be? In trying to “re-invent the wheel” by making something that resembles more of a salad with a little bit of WAY over seasoned chicken and the ENTIRE dish tasted of crab roe, or some kind of really unpleasant fishy quality to it, I’m pretty sure there was umami in the sauce for the chicken? My point is I paid for chicken teriyaki and I got something TOTALLY different.. the ingredients were good, it is just an example of a chef trying something new and just destroying a really good thing only to replace it with something that really.. isnt so great.. there was a little bit of rice with about maybe 3/4 or a chicken breast, and the rest of the to-go box was salad? It was more like a mediocre salad with a side of teryaki? I hate to be so on them but if nobody else is gonna say it I will.. I should have gone back for my money because I only ate a few bites and threw the rest away, but it was late and I had to be up super early. maybe warn people that the teriyaki is a little bit different from what they may be used to (I’m from Seattle and there is a teriyaki joint on every corner so I feel like I know my teryaki?). I was very disapointed. If you are looking for good teryaki, GO ELSEWHERE.

Little Tokyo Teppanyaki Dumpling & Noodle – Menu with Prices – 1 Providence Pl, Providence

They charged me 17.99 when I was only supposed to be charged 7.99. I wonder how many other people they have done this to.? Look at your receipt when you order from there. I’m sure I’m not the only one. And the meat is questionable. There is no gristle and connective tissue in chicken breast. Watch your “chicken” teriyaki…. I’m gonna try to get my $10 back… I will keep you posted….

Teriyaki Tokyo – Menu with Prices – 201 E Magnolia Blvd, Burbank

The food here is really good. The younger ladies who work the counter and cashier are always very kind and welcoming. Unfortunately today I had a not so nice experience with who I believe may be the owner. I ordered a chicken breast teriyaki plate. She says no and points to a sign. The sign reads “no brest 7:30”. Just like that, not my typo. I ask, oh so I can’t order food? Or just no chicken breast? She says “it’s closing time, we want to go home too”. Okay so no chicken breast is what you’re saying or you don’t want my business all together? I finally order and there was no thank you, nothing. Very unfriendly service and made me regret ordering. She was helping someone in front of me shortly after and she asked for extra teriyaki. That was returned by a long stare to the point the lady just walked away. She handed me my food without a word. I won’t come here if I see her working from now on. Otherwise I recommend this spot.

Yogis Grill – Menu with Prices – 75 E Rivulon Blvd #108, Gilbert

This is not authentic Japanese food. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way I’ll give a review of my own experience. I ordered a teriyaki bowl with all white meat. This dish is the most basic of Japanese dishes an American fast food establishment can make. Chicken, rice, scallions, and teriyaki sauce. I got all of that in my dish. The rice was hot and perfectly cooked, the scallions were cut fresh, and the teriyaki sauce tasted like teriyaki sauce. Now for the bad news…the meat. The bowl was topped with what looked like a thin (as in almost flat) chicken breast cutlet that had char-grill marks as if it had been chargrilled. The breast was hot but extremely dry. I’ve seen this lame attempt at chicken before at other restaurants who use one of those two_sided sandwich grills to reheat a precooked piece of chicken. It’s then sprinkled with chargrilled flavoring to fool you into thinking you’re eating a freshly grilled piece of meat. I took it back to the counter and asked if it was made fresh and thecashier told me it was. I then asked if she could clarify whether the chicken had already been cooked before I ordered it and then reheated. She confirmed that this was the case. I explained that this process will always dry out the meat. So she offered to cook another and confirmed to me that they would start with a raw piece of chicken. As it turned out, the new order turned out just as dry. I took a few bites and threw it away and walked out.

C.R. Chicks (Village Blvd.) – Menu with Prices – 731 Village Blvd Ste 108, West Palm Beach

Went there for the 1st time tonight. Food was awful. rotisserie chicken was good. Barbecue chicken sandwich was awful. The salad tasted like it was half frozen and the dressing with so awful we had to go request a different dressing. The rice and beans were cold. all of our food came to the table except for my CHICKEN!!! had to go ask for it and they didn’t know what I ordered. Macaroni and cheese with 4 cheese and bacon was God-awful there was no bacon (I brought it to the manager and asked if there was bacon in it and he said yes?) in the macaroni and cheese and tasted like the pasta came right from the water and into a processed powdered cheese sauce!!!! I actually give it back to a manager and told him to eat it!!! Save your money go next door to Publix and get a rotisserie chicken and a bunch of sides for half the price and twice the quality!!!

El Conquistador Bellmead – Menu with Prices – 901 N Loop #340, Waco

Stand by one the way back to SA and tried it for first time. Was rather disappointed cause i paid extra for chicken fajita meat in my taco salad got no flavor dried chicken breast. Waitress just stated that is fajita meat nut was the same meat in my husband chicken enchillidas. I am hispanic and know the difference between dried no flavor chicken breast and fajita meat. Ask how our meal was when paying and got oh that is fajita and man just kinda dismissed us and just took 2.00 off our meal without saying anything to keep our mouth shut. Nope, not going there again to pay that much money for dried, no flavor food.

Yamasaki Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 9 Dixwell Ave, New Haven

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Yamasaki Teriyaki as an option on Snackpass. I think we just found our new favorite quick, delicious, and cheap Asian-fusion place in New Haven! The restaurant itself is clean and spacious, and the servers and chefs are all so friendly. We ordered the Chicken Bento (with comes with chicken teriyaki over a bed of rice, a side salad with citrus Asian dressing, 3 pieces of gyoza, and 3 California roll sushis) and the Chicken Teriyaki Plus (with comes with chicken teriyaki, a choice of lo mein/fried rice/regular rice) a side salad with citrus Asian dressing, and your choice of hot & sour soup or miso. First of all, the portions are MASSIVE. For under eight dollars, you can get dish that could probably last you 2 meals. Second, the chicken teriyaki is of high quality, and the meat is tender and flavorful. The chicken strips are quite meaty, and they are all well seasoned with teriyaki sauce. The rice under the chicken teriyaki is incredibly soft and pillowy, kind of gummy, which is my favorite kind of rice! We ordered the chicken bento with vegetable lo mein, which was so savory and substantial. The gyoza in the chicken bento box could have been a little more flavorful, but the outside wonton skin was crispy! California roll was standard, and a nice touch. Finally, I have to mention that the dressing on the side salad is one of my new favorites – so tangy and creamy. In addition, I didn’t expect the salad leaves to be so fresh, which was definitely a nice surprise. I will definitely be coming back again!

I Love Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 1850 Douglas Blvd #506, Roseville

The food was good, the service was fast. My rating is based on the integrity. I clearly see on the menu that the brown rice is extra (kinda weird since places such as Chipotle don’t charge). However, nowhere else is it mentioned that you will be charged when asking for “all vegetables” instead of rice and vegetables. My friend and I ordered the same thing (Teryaki) they asked for no veggies/sub a salad and brown rice ($7.99 + 1.25). Then there’s a charge for $3.29 because they ADD the salad as if you’re ordering a side salad. My order; Teriyaki with all Veggies, no rice. They charged me $2.25…. FOR NOT GETTING RICE?! The woman ringing me up quickly left when I asked for an itemized receipt (otherwise I was not going to get one). When I questioned her why I was charged an extra total of $5.54 for substituting a salad and skipping rice, she said because it’s extra to substitute. But that is not posted anywhere? When i continued to try and address my issue, she just walked away. So I advise you to watch how your order, make sure it’s clear what you’re asking and double check and request an itemized receipt.

Teriyaki Chicken Bowl – Menu with Prices – 473 Stony Point Rd, Santa Rosa

This place is so so good! The portions are really great too. The vegetables are always just right meaning they are steamed just enough to still have that good crunch. The rice is always cooked very well and the shrimp is amazing! I usually get the Cajun shrimp teriyaki which is season incredibly. My husband gets the shrimp teriyaki and always loves it! I’ve also had the Cajun chicken teriyaki which is also pretty good although I prefer the shrimp but my cousin loved that and the chicken teriyaki. They always give a great amount of teriyaki which is so good! And their homemade chili is bomb! The staff is usually super nice unless the two younger girls are there, they seem to be bothered by everything.

Aqua Vitae Lounge – Menu with Prices – 719 E 65th St, Savannah

Everything was great till this guy started playing at 10pm on a Saturday. He is awful…which I hate to say because he seems passionate about playing. We totally left! And after we put a lot of money into the jukebox too. We couldn’t wait for him to be done!! It felt like a bad social experiment!! I swear there must have been hidden cameras. It was that bad!! I will not come here EVER again!

Midori Express – Menu with Prices – 2421 Randleman Rd, Greensboro

I was going to this place for years despite how cold and rude the lady at the register is I always order a lot of food basically I spend a lot of money at that place yesterday I ordered a lot of food but when I got home I didn’t see my chicken wings so I called back to let the guy know that they forgot my chicken wings I get up to the store and the guy starts showing me on camera that he gave me the chicken wings and starts questioning me as if I’m lying saying we got cameras and that months ago I try to short change them for three dollars now this guy doesn’t even work there on a daily basis so I tell him the lady took my money and never gave me back the change why lie about receiving change for a transition that isnt even breaking my pocket anyways I get into an argument with the guy and basically let him know that I’m retired military and everybody black isnt trying to steal this place is racist they have poor customer service I later found the chicken wings and bought them back to the store he packed everything in one small bag so it was an honest mistake but the entire time they felt that I was a dishonest customer from the start why tell me to come back up to your store to get the wings but try to accuse me my stealing when I come there so much the lady at the register practically knows what my order is black people dont give your money to these racist people.

NeoTsai Grill Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 15762 Springdale St, Huntington Beach

This place is simple. I’ll keep my review simple. It’s a teriyaki joint, they have chicken, beef, fish. The teriyaki sauce is good, more leaned on the soy sauce side so not excessively sweet (thank you). Chicken is breast so that’s perfect for me. About $8-11 for a bowl depending on the protein and portion is big. Versus Flame Broiler I would say it is at least 1.5 times the meat. So a little bit more. Vegetables about the same, rice is more but I always ask for a small scoop. I tried their spicy teriyaki sauce too, was fine, not too spicy … maybe they just added a little garlic and sriracha/chili to it? There is an “orange” option so maybe I’ll do that because orange chicken without being fried … sounds nice. Seems like a married couple running it, they were super nice. The food takes time to cook but I didn’t mind, plus they kept me updated on the progress. They got purple rice! Also super nice about substituting to all vegetables or purple rice. I like it. This place is great for a lunch or dinner when you forget lunch or don’t want to cook. One weird thing … you can’t order beef or fish a la carte … only chicken …!!!

Miyabi Jr. Express. – Menu with Prices – 4747 Ramsey St, Fayetteville

If Yelposphere would let me do a review with no stars….here would lie my review. The first thing I noticed the was that all the tables in the restaurant were dirty and full of plates from previous customers. I am not sure if it was a lunch rush or if everyone just left all at once and they were short staffed. I just know it was not a clean table in the place when I initially placed my order. The service was subpar but I was helped pretty quickly. Y’all know I love my Japanese and this was my first time here so I kept it simple with Teriyaki Chicken with the Vegetables. I asked for white sauce and hot sauce….I didn’t even want to take a leap and request some Ginger sauce too. Of course, I had to order to go because there were no clean tables available but it was okay because I didn’t have to go very far. My order was ready really quickly, which is never a good sign at a Japanese restaurant. A few minutes later (food was still hot), I opened my box and wanted to cry real tears because the Teriyaki Chicken literally looked like the mulch made of tree bark tossed in teriyaki sauce. I also had a small amount of “vegetables” (really onions….I could count my pieces of zucchini. There weren’t very many!) and nice helping of rice (which proved to be my only source of nourishment). The chicken was literally ALL dark meat chicken which had been cooked to death…it was so hard. For the amount of money they are charging, they should definitely be using chicken breast for their chicken dishes but they are using chicken thighs….YUCK! Most of my onions and one of my pieces of zucchini were charred. I even had pieces of onion skin in my vegetables, I guess they were in a hurry when they cut the onions! On to the sauce….because the sauce can save a dish! The hot sauce was spicy but just okay and the white sauce left a lot to be desired. Lucky for me, I always keep an emergency bottle of sriracha! Btw, the rice was actually pretty good with my sriracha and some of the teriyaki sauce.
