We’re driving back from Baltimore and my youngest son and his girlfriend are in tow. It’s getting close to lunchtime and everyone is hungry. My wife says, what’s everyone hungry for? The kids yell: pizza! Great, do you know of a place? I look at my son in the rear view and we both say: Mr. Pink My wife shakes her head and says heck no. It’s too spicy for me. And that’s the beauty about Two Boots pizza, there are many different styles and sizes. We all don’t have to agree on one large pizza. We snagged a spot a block away and walk into an empty spot. There’s cool art everywhere, from the tables to the wall paintings. All rock and Brooklyn themes, we’re all taking pictures and having fun. We ordered a small Mr. Pink and something similar to a regular pizza. What Two Boots is known for are their white pies. The girls don’t like white pizza so regular it is! I’m looking outside and I see a large peach tree? A tree grows in Brooklyn?? Very cool. The pizza comes to our table, man it’s on like Donkey Kong. Hot, sexy Pizza in the funked up Two Boots style. The corn meal crust is always a welcomed treat, we ate both pies like it was no ones business. There are many pizza choices you can make, especially in Brooklyn NY. There’s just something about a funky Two Boots pizza that keeps us coming back time after time. Cheers!

Sal’s Pizza – Menu with Prices – 6773 Carnelian St, Rancho Cucamonga

Best pizza around the Rancho Cucamonga area I have found! Tried it for the first time, I ordered the XL 2 topping pizza for $23! Slices were huge, they were very generous with the toppings and it tasted delicious!! I normally just eat 1 or 2 “small” slices, like pizza hut sizes, but this pizza was so good I ate 4! And the slices were big I couldve been full with 1! I didnt get to take a photo, I was too hungry! They dont accept debit/credit so be warned of that and its not a sot down restaurant, they’re just a store front. But this is perfect to call ahead and pick up for an amazing dinner! Dont waste time with fast food pizza when you can have the real thing! I will be coming back!

Petee’s Café – Menu with Prices – 505 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn

I’ve loved Petee’s Pies for years. Her pies are about as good as pies get, so I could barely contain my excitement when: 1. They opened up in Brooklyn. 2. I got to meet Petee. I was a little blinded by her celebrity; I’m sure she gets a little annoyed by the paparazzi constantly following her everywhere, and superfans like myself bugging her when we catch her in front of her new cafe here (a very cute spot that will be getting alcohol eventually, and has an adorable backyard). But I couldn’t help it. I had to tell Petee all about how we’re pie people. How I get her pies for birthdays and parties. How we had pie at our wedding, because fuck cake. And she said, “Team Pie!” You’re goddamn right, Petee. I’m on Team Pie, and you’re our captain. O Captain, My captain, I want to jump up on a desk like Robin Williams and tell you that I love the wild blueberry, the sour cherry, and the strawberry rhubarb (your manager Morgan’s favorite, evidently, and he has good taste). The banana cream pie will make my wife love me again when I’ve done something stupid, and everyone seems to love the salty chocolate chess, even though chocolate desserts are not as good as fruity desserts. Basically, it doesn’t matter what pie you get from Petee, because it’s always going to be such great pie. Team Pie.

Venezia Pizzeria – Menu with Prices – 1115 Astor Ave, The Bronx

First off….I’m not a big pizza fan (nor Italian food for that matter). I’m from the old-school, where back in the day in the south Bronx they used to have THE BEST pizza (I suppose Brooklyn can also claim this title). The crust was super crispy, thin, the sauce had a hint of sweetness and the melted cheese just created the perfect bland of pizza perfection.Fast forward to modern day & the previous 20+ years and there is no pizza shop to match that greatness…until i was introduced to Venezia about 4-5 years ago. I was in shock at how their pizza reminded me of the back in the day kind. I’ve been going back every chance I get. My go-to items are the plain slice (extra crispy), their eggplant slice with a side of marinara, and beef patties. (Great…my mouth is salivating right now :)The place is very small and sort of hidden, which is good because it’s definitely one of those hidden gems. The owner and his staff are super cool and always polite. Unfortunately, I recently moved and the last time I went, I told him (as I’ve told him before) you have THE BEST pizza period and I will miss it very much! I also promised him to visit each and every time I am back in the neighborhood. He thought I was joking when I asked him if he could dry-freeze me some pies and mail it to me all expenses paid! If you want the BEST pizza and service, hit up Venezia. Trust me you will not be disappointed!

Frankie’s Pizzeria – Menu with Prices – 205-01 Linden Blvd, Jamaica

Little Frankie’s is a great black-owned establishment and we enjoy their pizza a lot. Their prices are great, the pizza is good and it’s perfect for tired parents or when you’re planning a party. As a matter of fact, we ordered pies from there every Friday during the summer. They have 2 for $10 happy hour specials between 5 and 6, and an every day $5 special. I just ordered a bunch of pies for my daughter’s birthday party yesterday and the customer service was impeccable. We really like the Hawaiian pizza pie at our house and there’s an ongoing debate on whether it tastes better with tomato sauce or BBQ. Either way, it’s a great spot that’s worth trying.

Fahrenheit Pizza & Brewhouse Menu with Prices 17 Lee St S, Asheville

Ok folks. Our first try here. The typical – I read so so many great posts I just had to come. So we did. Small establishment neat and clean . Staff was attentive and kind. Now let’s get to the action. You order at counter then take a seat. My pics explain the pies and calzone. My calzone was just ok. I guess I’m a spoiled long islander but growing up in NY the pizza mecca. I just expected a crust to be lighter more airy and yet still a bite. Very scarse ricotta. Mozzarella was aplenty. ( dont think its poll-o ) not much sausage or mushrooms. I so wanted it to be killer. I really did. With that said I would order a pie next time. My wife had the 16″vodka. She said it was ok so with that I took it she wasnt overwhelmed. My daughters half pepperoni I’m sorry to say was severly undercooked mostly bottom center of hers she stated sauce was to sweet. She prefers we stick with standard pizza. My son had the other half of that 16″ his was bbq chicken . He said the cheese was to thick and very minimal chicken. I also tried each of the different pies. I really wasnt overly impressed. We will try it again as I feel ALMOST everyone deserves a second chance. With soda drinks it was 57 dollars and some change. Standard n favillas are tough to beat. But no one in Asheville has yet to produce a true NY pie. It’s a combination of dough, sauce, proper cheese spices. And most of all the fold. A fold without “the drip” isnt pizza folks. If your from NY you know what I mean

WestSide Tilth Farm – Menu with Prices – 246 Normal Ave, Buffalo

I noticed a sign advertising the Westside Tilth Farm and pizza at the corner of Richmond and Vermont on Saturday morning, and headed down Vermont to check it out. The farm looked lovely, as did the produce for sale, but let’s be honest, the pizza was the main draw for me. The four types of pizza offered on the day I visited were a Margherita, four cheese, Bianca, and a vegan one. I was with my husband and a friend, so we decided to get one of each, except for the vegan one since that one had cashew cheese and my husband’s allergic, and split them. You could opt for additional toppings like Italian sausage or carrot greens for a few dollars more, but we decided to get the pies as they were. There were two picnic tables with umbrellas, as well as several benches, so we snagged a spot. Since it’s an urban farm, there isn’t too much room, but no real issues with my son’s stroller. My ideal pizza crust is fairly thin but still chewy, and the farm’s pizza hits the mark. I would have liked it if there were more variety in pizzas, though, as our three pizzas were pretty similar to each other. For a farm, I would have expected to see more of their veggies on the pizzas. We could have added on some for a few extra dollars, but the pizzas were already around $14 each. Three pizzas for three adults worked out well for us, though three less hungry people might be content with just two pies. While I wouldn’t come for pizza every Saturday, this is a good Saturday morning kind of activity when the weather’s great and you want to show out-of-town guests a different side of Buffalo.

Pizzeria Twin Tower Big and Tasty – Menu with Prices – 12519 W Okeechobee Rd, Hialeah

I love pizza, especially Hawaiian pizza, regardless of the variety of how the pizza is prepared. Needless to say, when I started a new job I made sure to find Italian places near by. They definitely have a YUGE menu, covering not just pizza but the usual Cuban comfort food specials as well. Since I was heading there for pizza, such is where I looked. They sell both personal and large pies. As might have been mentioned before, Cuban pizza is somewhere along the lines of Chicago and pizzas, where the cheese and ingredients are baked into a dish shaped crust. The owner / chef also mentioned that sauces are slightly different than traditional Italian pies. For example, Cuban style tomato sauce is sweeter than the more robust Italian marinara sauce. This sweet taste blended nicely with a generous helping on pineapples and sweet ham of my pie which is why they deserve a high rating. (Oh, and attentive service helps!) You order at the counter and the dinner is delivered to your table. Their pizza menu also includes an interesting looking “pastelito pizza”. Yes, a dessert pizza of guava and cream cheese. I definitely plan to try this!

1000 Degrees Pizza Salad Wings – Menu with Prices – 4526 New Linden Hill Rd, Wilmington

After a long day being out and about we decided to stop here, since it was a new pizza spot close to where we live. We generally get our pizza and wings from Anthony’s Coal, directly across the street from 1000 degrees. We ordered pepperoni pizza and wings to go. The pizza was more bread and dough than pizza, and was on par with Domino’s Pizza. The wings were great, but we’re softer than my liking, though still good. After eating a few slices of the pizza, me and the wife looked at each other and said “Anthony’s pizza is 100% better food”. It’s a bit more expensive but the pizza is bigger and more flavorful. If you’re looking for a pizza spot in the area and you’re deciding between the two, go to Anthony’s for quality food. Go to 1000 degrees for inexpensive and quick food

Noahs Pizza – Menu with Prices – 4602 Woodland Ave, Philadelphia

The food seemed to be good, and the staff seemed nice, but I was disappointed with the serving size vs. price. I paid around $40.00 for two cheesesteak hoagies and an “x-tra large” pizza to be delivered to the school where I work. I envisioned a comically large pizza that would be more than enough for the students in my class. Nope! Each student received 1/8 of a cheesesteak (lucky me that two students missed out on the incentive and one didn’t want any – I had 11 students total.) The pizza was the real disappointment, because it was absolutely not “x-tra large”. It was an 8-slice pizza that was even smaller than a regular large pizza would be. One of my students gave up his slice so another wouldn’t throw a fit. It was highly uncool.

Vito’s Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 307 S Jefferson Ave, Springfield

First off I heart pizza. Pizza is a staple of my dietary consumption. Unfortunately most small towns and cities never experience a quality product like Vito’s. I’ve been all over the country and have had many pies. This pie stands out amongst the ordinary. As soon as we entered we were immediately greeted. Sitting at the small bar we were fortunate to have Vito’s son Vito Jr. serve us this evening. Just talking to Vito Jr you realize he and his father take great pride in the business they are building. You also see the mutual respect they have. It not only shows from talking to them, it shows from the appearance of the restaurant and the quality of the food. As we were handed the menus the first thing that jumps out is that it is small and this impresses me. The menu had a couple appetizers, 3 different salad choices, a specialty pie, the 16″traditional pie with a short list of toppings, a pasta special, and 2 dessert options. With that I knew our decision to go to Vito’s was spot on. We started out with the Meatball appetizer, slightly smaller then billiard ball served with an over easy egg over the top and homemade marinara. The meatball was tender and moist without falling apart. The sauce is a cold prepared sauce unlike most that sit in a pot all day. Which in my opinion is slightly more acidic but very fresh and flavorful. All the pies are 16″round New York Style, We decided on pepperoni, sausage and onion. Now being born in Jersey and raised in Chicago I’ve had some really great pies in my life. I love both styles. In a quality New York Slice there are 2 different crusts. One that is often referred to as the Brooklyn flop and the other that does not flop. Vito’s has no flop a nice crusty crunch with a fantastic char around the edge. The same great marinara from the meatball on the pie, and a good quality mozzarella. How do I know? When you pick up a slice there isn’t an oil slick coming off the pizza. Vito uses the old style pepperoni and the good quality sausage. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you need to experience the difference. I’ve been to over 200 pizza places in every corner of the US and I have to say Vito’s is definitely in the top 10 of establishments that I’ve been. Thanks both Vito’s we will be back.

D?Oliva evoo Pizza & Grill – Menu with Prices – 1009 N Bodine St, Philadelphia

Awesome new pizza spot in the ‘hood! I love Dolce and was excited to hear they opened up a pizza spot in Liberties Walk. Since they’ve opened, I’ve been here a few times already, grabbing some slices for dinner. They re-did the entire interior of what used to be another pizza place, upgrading the decor and making it look very pizzeria/sicilian-like. They always have an array of pies, all with different toppings, for you to grab slices from – and plenty of vegetarian (and even a vegan option or two), as well! The menu has so much more than pizza, such as burgers, salads, strombolis/calzones, and more. I’ve only eaten a few slices, but they can custom-make any type of pizza you’re looking for and the other items on the menu sound great too. Given their initial cafe, I know the quality of the ingredients are going to be top-notch and the food will taste great. Will be back a lot! And they’re BYOB!

Kiwi Kuisine Menu with Prices 4550 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria

Come on, everyone, who doesn’t like a good, meaty hand pie? That’s what I thought, no one. One day in October I realized I needed a tire patched. Ugh. So I went to a place in Alexandria and, while I was pulling up, I noticed this pie place. Did I mention that I was hungry? So, while I waited for my tire to be patched (which took like 15 minutes and no waiting – but that’s another amazing story), I headed over. They’ve got pies they can warm to go, sweet pies in the case, and a freezer full of hand pies to go. And to go they went. I loaded up on freezer pies, who cares that my freezer has no room for pies (i made room) and got one beef pie to go. No regrets. The pie I had to go hit the spot, it was delicious. The crust is great, the filling is great. It was great. Over time I’ve tried a bunch of other ones that have been in my freezer. Beef and Stout, Shepards Beef Pie, Lamb Pie, Vegetable, Chicken. I’ve never been disappointed. You can microwave or oven bake them. They’re good both ways. Obviously the crust will be better in the oven. But, sometimes time is an issue. Great for bringing to work. Go there, get some. The end!
