Today was my first time as a paying customer. My son and I came here to have brunch. In a nutshell, it was just OK overall. FOOD Overall, the food was ok; the coffee was terrible. -The Beast (3 stars): My sandwich tasted ok, but it looked better than it tasted. I enjoyed the crispiness of the hash browns. -French Toast from kids menu (3 stars): My son liked his French toast, but I have to say $6 for one slice of French toast seems steep. -Drip coffee (1 star): It was absolutely terrible. They use good local coffee (Tony’s), but they brew it way too weak. It almost reminded me of the kind of coffee we get at a gas station. AMBIENCE (4 stars) It only looks like a barn from outside, but it’s a beautiful restaurant inside. The hallway that leads to the main dining hall makes you feel like you are walking through a huge barrel. The dining room looks beautiful, something you cannot guess from outside, with high ceilings. Lots of tables to accommodate many groups big and small. SERVICE (2 stars) Our waiter was did a minimum job. Absolutely no check in after he brought out the food and before bringing out the check. The thing is that the restaurant was not even busy! FINAL THOUGHTS My very first time here was a Yelp Elite event in July 2019 (https://www.yelp.com/biz/yelp-elite-event-twin-sisters-brewing-co-bellingham). I was pleasantly surprised by their food. My understanding is that it was from a special menu and everything was free, which must be taken into consideration when you read the reviews of the event. In any case, my experience today does not mirror the positive experience I had at the Yelp event at all. As I mentioned earlier, it’s a big beautiful restaurant. I could not figure out why this place is not busy, but I now understand why they are not as popular (there are a good number of negative reviews on Yelp). Their rating on Facebook is high (4.5 as of today), but it’s voted by someone who likes the place. RECOMMENDATION If you are looking for good food, I do not recommend this restaurant. If you are a large group and/or drinks are more important than food, this could be a good option. They can accommodate large groups, many of them. They even have large TVs to watch sports. ***************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit “useful” to let me know. Plaza Cafe & Grill – Menu with Prices – 4041 N Central Ave, Phoenix

Staff Review: Arriving here at 7:00AM on a Friday morning, there was nobody else at this restaurant, nor was there anyone else in sight outside. When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who was preparing the coffee for the restaurant. This same individual also took my order, and was pleasant the entire time. Price Review: I don’t know anywhere else in the valley where an order of French Toast is $3.69. Because I also ordered a side order of Hash Browns, after tax, my total came to $5.95. That’s definitely a steal. In terms of price, this restaurant can not be beat. Price point = 5 Stars Food Quality Review: As mentioned, I ordered the French Toast with a side order of hash browns. After about 10 minutes, it arrived smelling and looking delicious. The French Toast was average. It was slightly over cooked and pretty dry. This restaurant puts the syrup on for you. I decided to not eat the forth half slice. The hash browns were decent. I ordered them well done, but they’re pretty standard. French Toast Quality = 3 stars. Overall, I’d probably come back here if I have some free time in the morning before work and try something else.

Emily’s Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 709 Village Ct, Santa Rosa

I’ve had a lot of french toast in my life, consider me a “french toast” entrepreneur. It’s my go to breakfast dish. When I tell you I’ve had LOTS of different versions/types of french toast; believe me. I have never been to Emily’s Kitchen before, but after trying their walnut bread cinnamon french toast, I will be coming back here ASAP. This place, by far, has the bombest, yummiest, most fulfilling french toast I’ve ever had in my 21 years of life. If french toast was a hug it would be at this place. Our waiter had the entire menu engraved into his brain, ask him anything to the ingredients, to where the flour comes from; he knows. This place has the hometown Sonoma County vibe with food to match. When you walk inside my first impression of this place is you will notice the rows of ribbon awards immediately. And they’re there for a reason.

Country Way – Menu with Prices – 5325 Mowry Ave, Fremont

Easily the best French Toast I’ve ever had. So admittedly I’ve been going to this place for as long as I’ve had a yelp account which is “really” bad because I love this place. Theres something about old school diners that just brings joy to my heart! Parking can be tricky sometimes though. Most of the times I go, I get a park in the parking lot. It is small so my biggest advice is just to go as early as you can. You can’t miss this place though. The building is shaped really cool and there is a big sign to the next of it. Reasonable prices for Breakfast. I would say on par with regular breakfast chains. But what makes them so cool is the portions you get. Every time I go, I usually have some sort of leftovers that me or a friend didn’t finish. That French Toast is ridiculous though. I feel like the key to a good French Toast is the type of bread you use. I honestly have no idea what kind they use but it’s friggin delicious man. That and it’s HUGE. Oh yea and to add icing on the cake, they add powdered sugar onto the toast if you are into that sort of thing. I know I am. I mean the tasty syurp…Everything here is good. On top of that, servers are always nice and professional. Can it get any better? Basically if you like old school diners and really are a fan of French Toast, you have to go this place soon. You really are doing yourself a disservice if you live in the Bay Are and don’t try them out. I used to be into a French Toast craze when I was growing up as a kid. Nowadays I am team Pancake or Waffle when I get an itch for something sweet during breakfast. Not when I go to Country Way though! I almost always have to get the French Toast.

Michele’s Cafe – Menu with Prices – 1373 Clinton St, Buffalo

Great little diner, clean, homey retro vibe, reasonablely priced, servers were on point, Michele the owner was on the grill cooking & directing! We ordered breakfast, portions were hearty – french toast, bacon, eggs, grits, breakfast sandwich, real homefries, coffee – all served hot and fresh with a smile. They even have chicken & waffles (next time). They have a small “bake shop” that rumor has it is a lil slice of heaven, wasn’t available this am but one of the items is grilled pound cake! Lunch specials include Meatloaf sandwich, subs, Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich, soups – can’t wait to get back and try some lunch eats! My only criticism was the maple syrup, for some reason it was ice cold & chilled the french toast, I even tried pouring it on the plate first to get to room temp but I’d already covered most of the french toast with the cold syrup – kind of disappointing as it actually made the french toast cold, french toast had good flavor though, I’ll just check the syrup bottle next time, ask to have it microwaved or something .. lol. We will be going back!

Cafe Porche & Snowbar – Menu with Prices – 1625 Baronne St, New Orleans

This restaurant is a gem. Upon entering I was greeted warmly. Seating is open and you can seat yourself outside or inside and enjoyed the music that was playing. After coming across reviews for French Toast it was only right I came and checked it out for myself. Eager to try the French Toast, but also wanting to try my favorite brunch meal I ordered shrimp and grits as well. The shrimp and grits were good, but not my absolute favorite. The added kick was a little too spicy for my liking. The consistency of the grits were ok, but they were definitely flavorful. Smothered pork chops with extra sautéed onions on top of cheese grits = purely delicious. The pork chops were tender and fell right off the bone. The gravy wasn’t too thick nor too watery. I could eat this for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Now the French Toast was AMAZING!!! There was just the right amount of powdered sugar, and it’s not eggy at all. This piece of bread was perfection. The seasonal fruit added on top give extra sweetness. Don’t even think about syrup, absolutely not necessary. I’ll definitely be back for another round of French toast and pork chops. Another restaurant added to my list of favorites.

Café Bella – Menu with Prices – 925 Highland Pointe Dr, Roseville

I was in from out of town and as is my custom, I always go out to check out the local coffee shops in the area if I have time. After logging into Yelp, I thought Cafe Bella would be a great choice considering the perfect Yelp score and the review citing great “ambiance”. I have to say, the posted Yelp reviews never mentioned that Cafe Bella is a coffee cart in the lobby of a commercial building! No fault to Tim and his business but if you want a great cup of coffee to take with you, this may be the place. If you’re looking for a place to sit and sip your drink with friends or family, try a different place.

The Marietta Local – Menu with Prices – 148 Roswell St NE, Marietta

We came in a party of 3 on a Saturday around 11:15 and missed the breakfast menu. It was very packed with people both inside and on the outside shaded area. We were greeted and instantly given a menu to look at while we were waiting to order our food. The menu options are plentiful and we decided to get the Chicken N French Toast and Chicken Salad Pita Sandwich + fries. The chicken N French toast was very tasty with the salty/crunchy chicken and the sweet maple/granny apple French toast. It was very good but felt the $12.95 was a high price for the quantity. The chicken salad pita sandwich was unique not only in that the salad had blueberries and loads of grapes in it but also for its thick pita wrap. The pita was very dense and filling and the salad was sweet and tangy. I would definitely recommend this. The French fries were soggy and under seasoned and I discovered later that the cooking staff take a load of already pre-made fries from a large plastic container and plop it on to the dishes. These fries are not freshly made to order and I can see why. Do not order them here. The other sides that other customers ordered appeared much more appetizing and fresh. SUMMARY: Service was very fast given the quantity of customers present and there is a reason why it was packed. There is a strong local Marietta feel and the staff are very efficient and accommodating. The pricing of the food was a little on the higher end and the restaurant is very tiny inside with 1 restroom (I had a wait of 7-8min) but if we are ever in the Marietta Square before 11, we will check out their breakfast menu

Cafe Crisp LA – Menu with Prices – 312 N Glenoaks Blvd, Burbank

Cottages cheese This is one of their two sweet flavors, came with fresh raspberries and PREMIUM Russian cheese, similar to ricotta but much more better. Stephanie’s Sandwiches – Menu with Prices – 10700 Jersey Blvd #100, Rancho Cucamonga

May 9th, 2019. I’ve been to stephanie’s a bit and its been a while since I’ve been here. I went after getting my blood work. When I’ve got inside the place, I was impressed of what they did to the place. They added a self serve soda machine that they didn’t have in the front of the place. They did have it behind the counter the last time i was there, but now they changed the soda machine (plus). The size was a bit smaller than me, but I had no problem. They didn’t have any ice from the machine, but the person who took my order put ice behind the counter and gave me ice so i could fill up my drink. Other than the soda machine, I had a great breakfast. With my drink that i have, i also ordered the french toast sticks. Both of those were $6. The french toast sticks were awesome here because they put sugar on the french toast sticks. I like the burger king ones, but they don’t put the sugar on the french toast sticks like what Stephanie’s would do. The flavor was so delicious that I could come back again here and order more of the french toast sticks.

Miss Worcester Diner – Menu with Prices – 300 Southbridge St, Worcester

On our drive home, we were so so hungry and we came across Miss Worcester Diner on Yelp! On the inside, the place is quaint and has a very homey diner feel to it. We were lucky enough to get a table right away. The menus are already on the table and we didn’t realize there was 2 separate menus- one for the regular food and one dedicated to French toast! After we put in our orders, we were looking around at the stickers from our seat. We were seated by the door and my boyfriend was pointing some sticker on the door… and that’s when I saw that the place is CASH ONLY! We thankfully had bills so we were fine. The food: My boyfriend got the meat lovers omelette and he said it was alright. I think we both thought that the omelette would be bigger. I ordered the Irish eggs Benedict with homemade corned beef hash. This dish was hefty and covered the entire plate. They gave a good helping of hollandaise sauce on top as well. The home fries were good, especially with the assortment of hot sauces they have at the bar. The real showstopper, and what we thought was extremely worth coming here, was the French toast. We got an order of the crunchy French toast and it was literally the perfect French toast in my eyes. The best I’ve ever eaten!

Crow’s Nest – Menu with Prices – 816 S Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo

I have been to Crow’s Nest about 4 times. So, after 4 times of trying the food out, I think it is now time to review it. Also, I didn’t have yelp the other 3 times so I can now. This last time I went, I had the Nest Scramble. It has asparagus, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs. It is served vegetarian (no meat) but I added vegetarian sausage. It is served with potatoes and toast. They have several different types of bread and I LOVE that. Normally, I get the lemon poppyseed toast, but we decided to get a half order of French toast to spilt so I didn’t want to have anything sweet but that. The portions are HUGE. The food is always good, and the service is always amazing. The host is kind and although the wait is also long (because people love this place), the host doesn’t make you feel like you are waiting 30 to 40 minutes. Plus, you can go downstairs to Fourth Coast and enjoy a cup of coffee and the host will come down and let you know you are ready. Plus (another added bonus, if I haven’t sold you yet), you can get a cup of coffee downstairs and they will fill you up at your table upstairs for no added fee. Same company and same coffee. Anyways, the food is amazing. The potatoes do have a spice to them. I love them but I wanted to give a heads up. Atmosphere: Although seats are limited due to space and tables seem small. It is cozy. The bathrooms are in a little weird location. You have to walk through the kitchen to go. I always feel weird, but the staff is like “it’s okay”. Having the coffee shop downstairs is a nice bonus. It’s a cool place to hang out even if you didn’t go upstairs to eat. Food: Amazing! Cost: Nest Scramble is $8.50 Half Order of French Toast is either $4 or $6 (Depending on if it is a special or on the menu as Solo or Short.) Most of the things on the menu are between $7 and $9. Eggs Benedict Menu is around $10. Overall: I love this place and give 5 stars. I will be back!

Big Eyed Fish – Menu with Prices – 1502 N Wells St, Fort Wayne

Update 7/21/19 Took my mom here for breakfast, first time, always only had lunch or dinner. First & foremost, had great service from Shanita. Beyond pleasant & some of the best service you could get. Five stars for the service. Refreshing to see such a genuine smile & attentive service. A level of service I generally see at high end restaurants, exemplary. Mom had an omelette (your choice of 3 ingredients) hash browns, raisin toast & included coffee. I had 2 eggs, toast & coffee ($2.50). Both together were under $10, including 2 cups of coffee. Can’t beat that for a hot breakfast served by a smiling face. While I like the fish here a lot, the breakfast blew me away. I wish I had tried it sooner, who knew ??
