I really had high hopes about this place after my wife tried out the Nashville location. It’s in a nice little area and the restaurant was nice and clean, it just didn’t live up to expectations. I ordered the Boozy Rooster for my cocktail and it was a pretty good old fashion. For appetizers we got the Mac & Cheese Bites and the Asheville Hot Chicken Dip. The Mac & Cheese Bites were ok, nothing special but that was my wife’s pick anyway. My pick, the Hot Chicken Dip kinda fell flat. I’ll agree that it had chicken, and the chicken was good, but it was neither close to hot or had any significant amount of sauce or cheese to actually make it a dip. The pieces of chicken were really large with a touch of sauce on the top, not quite a dip. The homemade potato chips that came with it tasted great, but they were so thin and the dip not actually being dip made it impossible to scoop anything with the chips. The flavor was just ok in that it was mainly just pieces of chicken. For my main entree I ordered from the Supper Plate section with the Low Country Sustainable Catfish with Parmesan Potato Cracklins and Basil and Butter Green Beans. The catfish appeared to be cooked good, not too dried out and flavorful with the blackened seasoning. The green beans were good but could use more seasoning and the potatoes were just ok, I would go a different route next time, they seemed a little under cooked and under seasoned. I had a Tupelo Honey Margarita that was a decent margarita but nothing special, really heavy on the chili salt which kinda over powered the whole drink. Our service was decent, nothing great, nothing extremely bad. Our waiter had a trainee so I expected a little bit better service since he was showing the new girl the way to do things. Our entrees took a long time to come out, maybe 20-30 after appetizers were picked up, long enough that a manager/team lead checked on us a few times and comped one of our appetizers. All in all I’d give it a 3. It might have been a little higher but due to the stomach pains and rumblings throughout the night that unfortunately have to be attributed to the only thing I ate being Tupelo Honey, that’s as high as i can rate it on this visit. Might try it again in the future but probably not anytime soon.

Restoration Pizza Menu with Prices 5161 Lang Ave NE Suite A, Albuquerque

Maybe I’m a pizza snob. IDK. I mean, it’s possible. First off, the quality of the ingredients on our pizza was stellar. That wasn’t my issue. We ordered pretzel bites to start, and those were amazing. The beer cheese was the perfect compliment- flavorful with just a little spice to it. We finally settled on a supreme pizza. Veggies. Meat. Cheese. Sauce. What could go wrong? Sigh. This is where my potential snobbiness comes in. Those veggies were basically raw ya’ll. Like, the mushrooms and bell peppers especially were not even kinda cooked. I’m not sure if they forgot them and added them later or what but… no. The cheese was plentiful and deliciously melty. But… there was no sauce to speak of. You couldn’t taste it or see it… yet the pizza was too soggy to pick up as a slice. I still don’t understand. The service was also odd. You seat yourself, which is cool… but we never dealt with the same person twice. One girl got my drink, someone else brought the hub’s beer, yet another girl brought us the pretzel bites, some other guy brought the pizza, and yet a different girl cashed us out. No one asked how our food was because I 100% would have asked for some sauce on the side ya’ll. IDK. I might try it again. It’s def not on my list of places I’d think of when craving pizza

Encore Rouge Menu with Prices 1116 5th Ave N, Birmingham

been instagram stalking this truck for a while and i finally was able to catch it at good people brewery friday night for dinner. i got the spinach dip and the 10 piece wing with fries and a sprite, $17 and some change. a bit pricey. my friend ordered the chicken alfredo and spinach dip with a water and got the same total. the spinach dip was great. hands down some of the best CHICKEN spinach dip i’ve ever had. the drawback here is that i asked how much cheese you get. she showed me a 6 ounce container cup with a lid. however when i received my order it was a basket of chips covered with cheese sauce that was NOT six ounces. not only does this method leave you with chips covered with cheese on the top but it leaves you with chips that are untouched on the bottom. i was called to bring my chips back when i started eating because they forgot to put chicken on it. they just placed a few pieces of cut up chicken on top… (sigh) the wings were great. juicy, filled with flavor, cooked to perfection. the fries were okay too but i wasn’t crazy about them. the chicken alfredo was disappointing. i tasted this at the yelp event earlier this year. when i tasted it, it was more of a bake. however if you order it at the food truck it is a circular tin filled with pasta noodles, dried with cheese and topped with large piece of chicken. if you don’t mix it yourself, you’ll end up getting bare noodles. even then you don’t have enough sauce to coat the amount of noodles given. the truck is definitely worth trying again but make sure you are SPECIFIC in what you want, otherwise you might be disappointed

South Valley Economic Development Center Menu with Prices 318 Isleta Blvd SW, Albuquerque

I was pretty impressed with the Pork Nachos I tried – definitely a good amount for sharing with someone – and $9! The first bites were the best, loaded with cheese, a very thick creamy and unlike the typical nacho cheese sort of cheese… maybe a heavy cheddar simmered with heavy whipping cream giving if that fluffy texture… well, whatever it was and however they did it, it was rich and gooey and yummy. After three or four bites it felt a little heavy, but you can’t win ’em all, huh? That’s the price you pay for rich explosive flavors and textures, I hear. The other toppings were awesome, nice shredded pork, some cabbage with a little sass, some jalapenos, and of course a nice slightly spicy but sweet BBQ sauce. The chips were pretty good for the most part, but there were some tough ones that weren’t fully cooked at the bottom. I mean you have to give them props for making those chips fresh though! The ones that turned out right, turned out reeeeal good. ? I would try some other things in the future instead probably, but this truck is placed @ La Cumbre on Wed nights, so check ’em out! I’d probably see what these sandwiches are about next time.

Crispy Chicken & Rice – Menu with Prices – 507 S Garland Ave, Garland

Intro- Being around the garland area and having a lot of friends there, they were the ones that introduced me to this place. All I can say is that you gotta get… The crispy chicken and rice of course! Service- ordered at the counter and that’s basically it. I can say that out of the couple of time that I have gone, the food has always been out in a flash. Nothing extraordinary and nothing that was poorly done so always gotta give ups to that. Food- Yo. Just get the chicken and rice. I know they have a variety of stuff but I’m sorry, I can’t seem to try and get anything else when I come in. The chicken strips are just this crunchy, juicy, SUPER OILY, and awesomely unhealthy thing of awesomeness. And to accompany it, you MUST get the hot sauce! That stuff is actually spicy and is just great with the chicken! But seriously though, with all of that oil and spicyness, you gotta have a nice cold beverage by your side. As for the rice, the consistency is just like your average Mexican rice… Except a bit different? It’s kinda piece-y if that makes sense? Kinda wish it had some more pizazz to it with a lot of veggies or something but either way, it’s a nice contrast to the chicken. Conclusion- all in all this place is awesome for just stuffing your face in a crap ton of cheap, unhealthy, but totally awesome chicken strip/nugget things. The price is really great and my friends and I usually get 30 pieces, rice, and a lot of hot sauce along with some drinks. Definitely good “hangout” food and if you’re going to have a cheat day, this is how you REALLY cheat.

Bravo Bistro – Menu with Prices – 2560 Matheson Blvd E #121, Mississauga

Bravo Bistro’s tucked away in one of the office complexes off of Matheson and mainly caters to the office clientele. They serve kinda a polish/italian fusion so expect pasta, fried veal/chicken and perogies. It’s kinda interesting because Bravo Bistro serves things to you in a cafeteria sort of manner. I chose the veal parmesan with potatoes and perigees (the let you pick 2 sides). The veal was meh… it wasn’t anything crazy, just a piece of veal with tomato sauce on it. It was kinda tough as well. The perogies were pretty good. They boil them first and then fry them up for you in cottage cheese or cheddar cheese varieties. They have sour cream on the side if you’d like as well as an assortment of condiments. All in all you can get a lot better for the same price as the area is littered with places to eat.

Potato Corner Menu with Prices 3811 S Cooper St, Arlington

I found out about Potato Corner through Groupon. And I got the deal where I purchased a Groupon for $6 and it can be used for $10. I figured I’d scope out the Parks Mall next time I stopped by and see what it’s all about. It’s located right across from the Food Court on the second level. In the middle of the mall. The girl that was working was very friendly and told us up from the deal how you can choose a potato, pick whatever seasoning you wanted and she even gave us a sample to see which seasoning we liked most out of BBQ and Sour Cream & Onion. (they were out of Garlic Parmasean) which probably would’ve been our pick. But we got an order of 6 Chicken Fingers with 2 sauces for $5.99. The size of the chicken was was fine, and she said she could even season them, which I decided that’s seasoning overload for me and didn’t go there. And we got the Mega Loopy fries, which are just Curly Fries, with the BBQ seasoning which really was the best combo we liked.

Krispy Krunchy Chicken – Menu with Prices – 2610 Delk Rd SE, Marietta

I read an article on a site claiming Krispy Krunchy Chicken was the best fried chicken chain. I noticed there was a KKC in a Shell gas station convenience store near where I live. Since I have a fondness for Brother’s convenience store fried chicken in NOLA I decided to check this place out. It’s pretty delicious. The woman working behind the counter was super friendly. I got two pieces of dark meat fried chicken, it comes with a biscuit and she offered a sauce. The chicken has a great crispy crust that has a nice cajun seasoning on it. The meat is super tender with a little bit of cajun seasoning flavor. The biscuit is coated with honey so it’s delightfully sweet but not overly sweet. I didn’t get sides this time but will be back to check those out soon.

Shake n Burger – Menu with Prices – 147-01 Liberty Ave, Jamaica

This review is based off the fried chicken and ribs. I didn’t order anything else. I can’t believe how many 5 star reviews this place has. Ya’ll buggin. I’m thinking..either these people are easily satisfied with mediocre food or they have no clue what LEGIT fried chicken and southern comfort food tastes like. My co-workers were craving fried chicken and one of them recommended NY Fried Chicken because it was open 24 hours and he heard good stuff about them. So, being the one who lived closest, I was tasked with the job of going there in the wee hours of Sunday morning and buying some fried chicken and sides. The restaurant is situated on a corner, next to a laundromat. Outside the laundromat, were about 6 parking spots shared by patrons of both storefronts. Across the street is some kinda club/lounge and a BP gas station. Once inside, I couldn’t believe how many people had the munchies at 3 a.m! They have a pretty sizable menu, consisting of fried chicken, ribs, burgers, shakes and different sides. They also do catering, with different size parties and portions. I ordered 25 pieces of assorted fried chicken, a half slab of pork ribs and a large mac n cheese to go. I thought it was gonna take awhile; NOPE. As soon as I placed the order, 5 minutes later, my food was bagged and ready to go. HUH. That’s a little suspect right there.. Once I got to work, I was bum-rushed by my co-workers! Box of fried chicken was torn open, mac n cheese flying on to people’s plates, ribs ripped apart with wild abandon!! Okay, so that description may be a bit exaggerated..but that food was gone within 20 minutes. I had 1 chicken wing and 1 breast and 1 rib. But just from those 3 pieces of meat, I could give you a pretty accurate representation of what this NY Fried Chicken spot is all about. First off, each piece of chicken is TINY. Seasoning is very simple; salt and pepper. Taste? Meh…I don’t think those 25 pieces of chicken warranted a $32 price tag. Ribs? ***king disgusting. I saw them take my half rack of ribs, originally wrapped in some kinda white paper, outta the heater machine thing, and pack it up. Definitely didn’t taste like it was cooked recently. Waste of $10. Mac n cheese was mushy, standard pre-packaged mac n cheese. Just add water, mix and heat. Boo Hoo. If you don’t live in the area, save the time and effort. Don’t bother coming here. I can think of a dozen other alternatives for munchies at 3 a.m. I certainly won’t be back. Food was so mediocre, I didn’t even take any pictures. Sh-t was just so not picture worthy. -_-” Deuces.

Rooster & The Crow – Menu with Prices – 225 S Water St Suite H, Wilmington

Came here Saturday night with a group of 4. It was busy but we were seated immediately. I tried the dark and stormy drink which was what you would expect–no complaints. My group shared two apps–the gator bites and the cheese fries. The gator bites were okay, they were small bites with a remoulade sauce. I am glad I tried them because it’s unique but I would not order them again, that being said, they tasted kind of like chicken. The cheese fries were huge portioned waffle fries with very little cheese and some jalapeños. Not served with any sauce which I also think is weird. Two people got the fried chicken. This is a steal. It’s 15 dollars with an entire half of chicken and two sides. My husband got the mashed potatoes and a premium side of fried cabbage. Both were very flavorful and had me trying additional bites from his plates. The chicken skin had excellent crunch and the meat itself was very juicy. I would say that, although very good, it could have used some additional seasoning to make it a 10. I ordered the Mac and cheese. You get to choose either bbq or bacon on top and it comes with a Caesar salad. I ordered mine with bacon as I am far too finicky and stuck up about my bbq and try not to set myself up for disappointment. The Mac and cheese was huge portioned again–especially for the price–with lots of bacon on top. The cheese is from Ashe County and it was really creamy and flavorful Mac HOWEVER mine was cold and the shredded cheese was just piled on top, unmelted. It was just disappointing to get it so close to perfect. The salad was tasty but limp and not cold. I assume it had been dressed hours earlier. The croutons were stale and I ate around them. My other friend got the friend chicken with the potato salad and the potato salad was a southern mustard style. I am an equal opportunity potato salad girl but this one tasted like grocery store bought. We all tried a bite and no one went back for seconds. Lastly, the 4th person got the brisket–also very generous portioned and the flavor was very good. My only suggestion there would be add some sauce on the side as it was dry. The decor and space is lovely with a green accent wall with fake grass(?) and otherwise somewhat unchanged from its previous life. There was live music–a guy playing guitar and he was an excellent singer. This was a great addition to our dinner. The menu still lists it as being a soft opening so there is some definite tweaking to work out and the soft opening is the place to do it. I hope that they season things, add a little attention to detail and make sure everything is warm before it gets the table and this place could be amazing.

Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar – Menu with Prices – 9123 Strada Pl #7135, Naples

First time to Roccos and it was overall a good experience. I sat at the bar with a friend during Happy Hour and it was extremely busy. Their Happy Hour Prices are VERY good. I loved the decor walking in and the place was buzzing. It took about 5 mins for someone to come up to us for our order – understandable as they were very busy. We each ordered a drink off the happy hour menu $5 each. Then we ordered chips to share ($2), a chicken taco ($2) and a beef taco. Drinks: They were very strong but delicious – I only needed one! Food: The chips and salsa were delicious. They put seasoning on their chips so I asked that I get half of the chips plain and half seasoned. I liked the seasoning, just not a lot of it. The pico was simple but tasty. The tacos were alright, not super authentic but tasty enough for $2. Atmosphere: The decor is nice and there are high ceilings inside. The bar is extremely crowded with little space between each chair. Also, it is very hot during the summer and they keep the window open between the bar and the outdoors. It would be nice to have a little more AC. Service: It is hard to service 55-60 people at a bar, but it makes it more difficult when they are no assigned sections for the bartender. The bartenders float around the bar, and you do not know who to wave down when you need something. The service was poor until the bartender Victoria approached us. She was very nice and gave us quick service for the remainder of our stay. Overall, great atmosphere, food and drinks! Service needs to improve at the bar – I think the solution would be assigned sections. Can’t wait to come back ?

Las Palapas Mexican Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 3039 TPC Pkwy, San Antonio

First time eating at this Las Palapas location. The interior was nicely apportioned and there were numerous TVs playing football and the world series game. I loved the creative menu and my dining companion suggested I try the Chicken Tortilla Soup. Our excellent server, Anneliese, recommended the puffy tacos so I did. We also ordered some Avacado sauce with our chips and salsa. Service-Second to none. Our chips were hot, salsa spectacular, and avocado sauce special. My puffy taco plate was perfect. The shell had a really great deep-fried taste but was not greasy. The picadillo ground beef was seasoned just right. Portions were generous. I ordered a cup of chicken tortilla soup that has a large slice of avocado and a generous helping of chicken in it. The flavor was exactly what I wanted. Just the right amount of seasoning. My companion loved the chicken flautas she ordered. She is a regular of several other LP locations and thought this location was the best she has eaten at. We will both be back. Our server and her trainee, Marcus, did an awesome job keeping our beverages topped and chips fresh.

Rosales Mexican Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 827 E Montecito St, Santa Barbara

Rosales was recommended to us by a family friend who said that Rosales is a California Mexican cafe’ with good sauces, authentic (whatever that means) beans and rice. Ok so we had spent a day doing the tourist thing since we had some Canadians in tow and we were hangry and the Canucks were hankering for some cali mex food. My family in one form or another has been living in SB since 1965 and according to the oldest, Rosales is the real deal. So we ordered and one of my nephews picked it up (finally they can drive and actually do stuff for us instead of the other way around!). We ordered: Nachos Enchiladas with red sauce Chile Relleno, rice and beans The food looked and tasted like a restaurant on Olympic Blvd that i grew up with called El Jarrito: meaning cal inspired versions of supposedly authentic Mexican dishes. Listen: i am not disparaging this style of cooking only pointing out it is not usually what you find in Mexico. Be that as it may: this food was tasty though kinda sludgy which i think is because of the jostling that happens when you do take out. In other words, the food arrived looking a mess something i hope would not be the case if ordered inside the restaurant. The Nachos had slices of no name beef strips (strips is a plus rather than small bites you usually see which remind me of cat feed) and a good blob of interspersed cheddar cheese. There was also a spattering of the red sauce that is on the enchies . The whole thing reminded me of chilaquiles but pretty delicious nonetheless. Though not Nachos that i am “used” to but hey: Nachos are one of those things that you can pretty much do anything with as long as they have chips and cheese. The Chips were fresh and crisp, the sauce savory and slightly spicy made from actual red chile pods with onion and garlic. The Guacamole is simply made with avocado, a little onion and pico. The Red Enchiladas were sauced with the same sauce as the Nachos and stuffed with chicken, onion and what seems to be, jack cheese. Talk about Old School! But isn’t Old School really new…now? The Beans were soupy but not in a good way. I mean i make Bean Soup at home and they are full of chicken stock, garlic and onions. These were more like diluted beans heated and re-heated. Not a good thing. One family member is addicted to chile relleno. She always orders this no matter where we are if it is available. Here the CR was well breaded, seasoned and fried. The Chile used to fill with cheese was not our of a can which is a real plus and perhaps shows you where this restaurants head is at. The rice was fluffy, freshly made as it it hadn’t been sitting on the steam table very long. The seasoning was good; chicken broth, salt, pepper, onions and garlic. Overall good not great. We only sampled 3 items. We need to try more. The take out order arrived hot. The woman on the phone who took the order was informative and helpful. I will try Rosales again to check out more of the menu. Prices are not cheap especially when i remember that we could buy 10 taquitos from El Jarrito for a buck. Yes a dollar: 100 cents. Those were the days, heh?
