This bar is one of the coolest places on the planet. I’m “not from around here”… and I’ll stop there.. on occasion I have felt like a stranger in a strange land, but maybe that was Yuma… I digress… Anyway, to be frank, I came in there after checking out a local community college down the street… where I IMMEDIATELY realized I was in the wrong place. Young ladies that were probably from Brooklyn that were problee at least 9xs smarter than me… with awesome whips, er, cars… I vacated he premises stage left but found Tony’s. While they do not serve food, allegedly, they had my favorite snack and pretzels to boot. Only one negative.. I was a bit intimidated at first, but that was because I got schooled in pool, but worse, felt like a runt. I’m like 5’10.5 and I was probably shortest one there! Oh well. Top notch staff and patrons were very cordial, even though I came in just a tad sideways… not narcotics or EtOh.. worse.. sleep deprivation. They may have saved me by letting my linger til close. Thanks Tony’s! : ) only other problem: lost my wallet, but totally my faults. Please visit if you dig darts and billiards and sweet bartenders. Trident in Tucson is the only one that might top it friendly wise:

Upside Down Plaza Menu with Prices 2012 Magnolia Ave S, Birmingham

The upside down Plaza is basically a dive bar with a long history in Birmingham dating back to the 60s in its original location and the 80s in its current underground location. The owner has been the same since opening and the bartender (Kimbo) has been there almost as long. There are six or seven pool tables which make it easy to shoot pool without competing against other patrons for the tables. The clientele is diverse, the drink prices are reasonable and the staff is cool. Periodically they have free pool Fridays where the pool tables are open at no charge. There’s no food served but you can bring food in with you. The fun & friendly staff can be found at the bar watching Sports or the Big Bang Theory while patrons freely interrupt the casual atmosphere with their choice of music over the jukebox system which can be utilized at the jukebox or from your smartphone if you download the app. If you like a dive bar with a welcoming chill atmosphere then you’ll probably love this place. The only criticism I would give is their pool sticks leave a lot to be desired, so if you have your own, you might want to bring it. There’s also a water intrusion that was recently caused by construction at the hotel above causing the floor to be wet in the back corner near the rear pool table, which just happens to be my favorite spot =( …Hopefully that will get corrected soon.

LaJava Roasting House – Menu with Prices – 2422 W Mason St, Green Bay

Whilst on my whirl wind 2 day vacation in Wisconsin, my sleep deprivation was about to take over my mind body and soul. That was until I stumbled across Jolted Java. A small drive through coffee stand to the eye but a island of java goodness to the soul. After breakfast at IHOP earlier that morning where I had to practically hold my nose and sip their less than mediocre coffee, I needed a good cup of joe. I had their hazel nut blend coffee, black. Since I no longer take sugar or cream with my coffee, quality beans make all the difference. I am so so glad I found this little gem right outside of the Super Walmart! When I return to the great state of Wisconsin, I will be going here for my daily cup of coffee!

Papa T’s Sports Pub – Menu with Prices – 3420 Atlanta Hwy, Montgomery

Papa Ts is a great sports pub with awesome bartenders and patrons! They have darts, pool, TVs, and a jukebox. You can sit at the bar, high tops, or low tables. They have daily drink specials. Also have tournaments on certain nights. Highly recommend for a low key afternoon socializing or for getting your pool or dart game on! Cheers!

Miss Cue South – Menu with Prices – 1720 S Reynolds Rd, Toledo

Absolutely awful. Run down and dirty. The two female night bartenders were rude and disgusting. Touched food and money and did not wash their hands. Bought drinks and pool only to be kicked out for having a baby with us (family ) . Was told under 18 after 9p is not allowed by bar law. No law exists. And actually the code states as long as the minor is with their parents the minor can be in the pool hall. The child we had was quiet and not annoying anyone. And the place only had 4 pool tables being used. Miss Q states they are family friendly but their staff does not abide. The night female bartenders on 10/25/18 were more about giving free drinks to the drunk guys at the bar than taking care of the other patrons, except for kicking us out. So much for seeing my son who is home on military leave.

Slick Willies Family Pool Hall – Menu with Prices – 6808 Northwest Expy, Oklahoma City

I absolutely love playing pool and I can be pretty particular about the places I’ll go. This place was almost like a hidden gem for the area. It honestly doesn’t look like much from the outside and the parking lot needs work. But you’ll be pleasantly surprised once you get inside. Their tables are good to play on, the rails aren’t dead, the felt’s in good shape, I’ve never had to wait for a table here or been crowded or bothered while playing, and they keep it clean. Plenty of tables, plenty of space, acceptable prices and the person working the bar has always been very pleasant and friendly. In my experience, the other patrons have also always been good and lowkey. If you’re looking for a family pool hall in the area or just some place to go to shoot on a good table, relax and have a decent drink, this is a good choice.

Sun-N-Fun RV Resort – Menu with Prices – 7125 Fruitville Rd, Sarasota

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this place from Friends of mine. While looking on line to book something a special for this place came up. $30 a night Monday through Thursday. The park was nice and it had a lot of stuff, but the information online was not completely accurate. It said it had a restaurant, but it was more like a conference Hall in a hotel that was closed. The bar and grill was a bar by the pool (not to bad) with two holes in the wall, one to order food and one for pick up. It was basically bar food. Frozen mozzarella sticks, burgers from a box, and stuff like that. The prices weren’t to bad. They had an ice cream machine that was pretty dirty and half the ice creams were soft and on the verge of melting. The pool was big and crowded ( a lot of pay $5 per day people) and the slide was fun. There is a nice size pond to fish and a lot of little buildings everywhere that weren’t open. A playground for the kids and a few other things. The store was about a 10×10 three sided room with a wall of shirts with their logo and a hand full of things. There is a disc golf course, but they should just take it down. One basket was actually laying sideways at about a 45 degree angle. The work out area is state of the art, but it is $10 a day. All in all the place is nice an well maintained, but the information on line needs to be updated with what is included and what is open.

White Diamond Billiards – Menu with Prices – 6722 Johnston St, Lafayette

White diamonds is the best place to hang out, have food, and shoot pool that Iâ??ve ever been in my life. The food is not â??bar foodâ? they have a full kitchen. Most importantly tho the tables are measured down to the thousandth and the felt is changed regularly. The pool tables are extremely well kept up and itâ??s the only place Iâ??ve ever seen that cleans and polishes the balls after each table rental. Punchline is, if you want to play pool this is the absolute best place to do it not just in Lafayette LA but over any pool hall or bar Iâ??ve ever been to. Also if you get hungry or donâ??t want to break the bank having a drink, or two, or three whoâ??s counting?! White diamonds is the spot.

Caribbean Resort by the Ocean – Menu with Prices – 313 Hayes St, Hollywood

The Caribbean Resort by the Ocean is in a fantastic location, steps from the Broadwalk in Hollywood, and basically as close to the beach as you can get without being right on it. It’s super convenient and the tiki bar is a great place to hang out in the evening. It has live music and friendly bartenders. That’s where the vacation ended for us with the Caribbean “Resort” by the Ocean. The cost per night was about $250 with a $250 deposit so we were expecting something halfway decent for a small “mom and pop” near the beach. We were told there were rooms poolside and tiki side but that there were only tiki side rooms available so we took what we could. Room 115 reeked of mold and mildew when we entered and had DampRid buckets on top of the kitchen counters. We didn’t say anything to the staff at the time because we wanted to change and get onto the beach, and honestly, I’m not sure the smell hit us too hard at first. Later that evening, after dinner we headed back to the hotel (motel?) and the tiki bar was busy, there was very loud music. Our room was right off of the bar but we couldn’t hear it that much in the room. As we got ready for bed the smell started to get to us. We’re both in our 40s, and healthy but had we been older, a child, had some kind of immunodeficiency problem, asthma, or ill, we would have been in serious trouble – and good thing we weren’t staying there for long. It was difficult to sleep in there. We really could not spend much time in our room due to the odor. The next day it was pretty hot out and we wanted to swim in the pool. We put on our suits and went in search of it but couldn’t find it. We went into the office to ask where it was but we were told that the pool that had been mentioned when we booked our room, wasn’t accessible to our room (remember, we were on the tiki side, not the pool side) – the pool was for another hotel they manage next door. We were flabbergasted and felt like we’d be lied to about the amenities provided in the establishment. We didn’t argue the point and spent the day on the beach – pissed but whatever…. That night, unable to spend time in our room due to the odor, we approached the staff at the desk about the mold/mildew and got an “apology” that sounded like an “I don’t care”. After we spent a while explaining how bad it actually was, and how dangerous it was, we were switched to another room – next to the pool!!!! (PS TV in that room did not work) At this point, it was 10 pm and we had a 5 am flight so we went to bed. My advice is if you want to stay here, ask to see and smell your room before you plop down any money. Ask if you have access to the pool. Check the TVs and all appliances, showers, beds, everything in your room before you make a commitment). If you read through some of the low reviews, you will see that some other people say their TVs don’t work or their shower was broken, or they did not have access to the pool. Just check everything before you commit because they will charge you once they take your cc. As I said, the location is great, but things may not be as they seem.

Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows – A Concept By Hyatt – Menu with Prices – 6114 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale

I reserved and paid for an Eames Retreat room. When I checked in, the man at the front desk told me he didn’t have any Eames Retreat rooms ready. He asked if I would accept another room. I said that I would, but only if it was the same room or an upgrade with the same amenities. He assured me it was. The room I booked was to include close proximity to an exclusive pool area, two breakfasts daily, two cocktails each evening and a range of other goodies. NONE of these was included in my four night stay nor were they made available to me and my family. I received no discounts to make up for this. Our room was nowhere near the “exclusive pool area” and we were never given access to it. In fact, the room we were given was close to the main pool which included loud, house-type music muted by a poolside DJ that throbbed through the walls of our little bungalow. Not only that, we left the property for two nights then returned for two nights more at the Andaz (I couldn’t cancel the room due to the late date). Upon return, a different person was at the front desk. As she checked me in I explained the problems we’d had during my stay. She was shocked. “Was it a younger man who checked you in?” She asked. “It was,” I said. “I am so sorry for this. That’s terrible and he should never have done that. I am going to waive your resort fees for this stay and make sure you get a $50 per day credit for food and beverage. I will also see what else I can do.” I thanked her and felt a little better about the whole thing. I travel constantly and stay at many Hyatt properties. I’ve had few problems and felt confident they would make it right. This time the room was lovely. It was larger than the first room. It had two entrances and looked out on the “exclusive pool area.” It also included access to a sort of spa/work out area. The only problem was that it made me feel even worse about the first stay. My family and I had missed out on so much, seeing what we had missed made things worse. Still, I had high hopes that the woman at the front desk and Hyatt would make it right. When I checked out I was aghast and crestfallen. No waived resort fees. No $50 a day food and beverage credit. No anything. Nothing. In fact, we were charged fully for our meals, not even the breakfasts were included. We had to leave very early to catch our plane and the front desk area was a ghost town at that early hour. I would write them and try to find out what happened. I never got a response. I’m still trying and am posting this in hopes someone will notice and respond.

Seamart Deli – Menu with Prices – 298 W Bay Ave, Norfolk

If you were looking for health food, skip see Mart and deli and go to a different place. If you want an Italian sub that is on par with anything from the Northeast. Go to the sea mart deli and take my advice to pick up a combo meal preferably the soprano made all the way with fries and a soft drink all for under $7.50. This place is run by a bunch of guys were making a go of it as a small business and their subs are frankly Way better than anything you’ll find and a franchise sandwich place. Do not go to Subway or anything of the equivalent, how about small business and go to a place like the sea mart. For you dainty folks out there who may be a little intimidated by the rough exterior, take note I have been to this place at least 20 times, and The folks there are nothing but nice. Both the owners of the small convenience store and the guys working the sandwich place are always cordial and provide us a professional service sohelp them out and buy a sandwich. But I would recommend right after either take a nap or work out. Because the sandwiches are so good they are evil thank you

Holiday Inn Amarillo West Medical Center Menu with Prices 8231 W Amarillo Blvd West, Amarillo

We came into Amarillo for an overnight as my husband was doing radio work for the Salina Liberty while taking on the Amarillo Venom. This was the hotel that I booked, based on price and reviews, from Priceline. I have stayed in Holiday Inns (and Expresses) before and they always meet a particular standard. However, there wasn’t much met above this standard. I will say that the lady at check in was FANTASTIC—super friendly and made sure we were accommodated by getting us a roll away bed for our son to sleep on. This was even with an early check-in! However, beyond that, we were not overly impressed. There was a $10 parking fee for the hotel, which, with all the new construction and hotels over the area, didn’t surprise me that much. The room was just ‘average’ and didn’t impress much. The bed was VERY hard and uncomfortable for me. If you like a super firm bed? Then I guess it would be okay. The TV remote didn’t work well and made watching TV late that evening difficult. I was kind of disappointed with the pool area as well, as pictures seemed to show a different pool than what was actually there. The bathroom was also very small and, with the roll away bed in the room, the room itself felt cramped. The room and hotel overall seemed fairly clean and maintained. The location of the hotel was nice. Would I stay here again if I come to Amarillo? Probably not. If the bed was better, I would…but my body can’t take the aches that come from sleeping there.

Mexiville Northshore – Menu with Prices – 103 Cherokee Blvd Suite C, Chattanooga

The food is meh, but no worse than any other Tex-Mex joint in Chattanooga. I’m giving it only 2 stars because the service was HORRIBLE. Right from when we walked in, I felt like we were intruding on someone’s birthday party. The wait staff just stared at us or ignored us, like they couldn’t believe we had the audacity to walk up to the hostess stand when they so obviously hated feeding hungry people. Finally someone took pity on us and lead us to a booth and I thought, “Okay, maybe there’s just some confusion over who is hosting and who is waiting, but everything is all figured out now.” Nope. We got ignored for another 5 minutes until someone sat chips and water down and then ran off without taking our order. And it basically went like that the whole time. Really felt like the entire staff just hated being at work that night, and did not GAF about their customers. Mexiville, your food ain’t nowhere NEAR good enough to be actin’ like that.
