Another stop via the recommendation of friends who used to frequent the establishment during her college years. The store had two lines to purchase plates of cooked seafood and BBQ as well as a fish/crawfish market which people were hauling the crawfish out by the bag full. Here, we tried fried shrimp, catfish, boudin poppers (crawfish/shrimp and regular). The crawfish/shrimp ones were good and seasoned nicely! The fried shrimp and catfish plates were good and had just the right amount of seasoning with two sides. Establishment was visited by what seemed to be locals and people passing through which is always a good sign! I’d definitely visit again when back in the Baton Rouge area!

Flavors of Louisiana – Menu with Prices – 5800 S Lewis Ave, Tulsa

My brother lives in Tulsa and had told me about this place. Did not disappoint! As a cajun food fanatic, I had high standards and was extremely pleased. The owner came out of our table before we ordered to see if we had any questions about the menu and I told her it was a shame there weren’t more combination options with a little bit of everything on it. She told me to hang on and went back to the kitchen and emerged with a tray full of tastes for us of several of there main dishes. (I was in a party of 11) It was all good stuff! Our appetizer was the crawfish and alligator. Yum. Might have been the best alligator I’ve ever had. (Former Baton Rouge resident even) I ordered the Dunkin’ Catfish (but substituted Snapper for the catfish) which is fried or blackened fish over crawfish étouffée and rice. Seriously amazing meal. I added a side crawfish pie because I am a glutton for punishment and wanted to be miserably full when I left. Outstanding crawfish pie! Rivaled one I had in New Orleans at Emeril Lagasse’s place! I think if you’d snapped a picture of our table you’d have seen many menu options and everyone there loved their meal. Next time I’m in the Tulsa area, I’ll be back! Oh… save room for the banana pudding!!!! RIDICULOUS!!!

Chicken Shack Menu with Prices 3939 Pawtucket St, Baton Rouge

My husband frequents this place for fried catfish whenever he is working in Baton Rouge. After hearing him rave about it, I gave in and decided to try it out. It is counter service with some not so friendly ladies working the counter. However, the place is clean. I mean windows, tables, trash area, restroom…all clean. Our food arrived boxed up for take out, but they have tables for you to use if you choose to eat it there. My chicken wings were greasy and seasoned, but too salty for my preference. The fried catfish really is good, but again too salty for me. They give you so much food on the $10 catfish plate. We could have split it, but I thought I would try the chicken since it is the Chicken Shack…duh! Anyway, I had the red beans and rice as suggested side from the counter clerk, but it was not good. I also ordered the sweet potatoes and they were pretty good, due to being smothered in brown sugar.

Krispy catch Menu with Prices 2596 E Arkansas Ln ste 154, Arlington

My husband and I tried the catfish at this little restaurant yesterday. Our first hint of good cooking was the wonderful aroma wafting out into the parking lot. It’s a small little hole-in-the-wall type of establishment. They offer a variety of crawfish, crab legs, crabs, catfish and shrimp. There were two other parties having their meals when we entered. Several people came in to get take-out. The staff greeted us with smiles, seated us at one of the comfortable booths, then after an appropriate time, took our orders. We both ordered the 2 filet with 2 shrimp dinners. When the food arrived, we were first struck by the generous size of the filets. And the flavor was wonderful. Both the shrimp and the catfish were coated in a light, crispy batter which crunched as we ate. The meat was flaky and moist. Not too much salt, not too much pepper. I was only able to eat one filet, but my husband ate every morsel. He admitted to me later that this was now his favorite catfish restaurant. He and his friends had frequented a more well-known establishment near his work, but Krispy Catch out did it. Taking my leftovers with me, I knew that we would be returning whenever we craved catfish.

WING STATION – Menu with Prices – 619 S Pine Ave, Ocala

This is the second time we’ve gotten takeout from here and really liked it. The first time we got 10 garlic Parmesan wings and the shrimp boil with Cajun seasoning. The wings were good, a little small, but cooked well and we really liked the seasoning. The shrimp boil was very good and a good value, 25 medium sized shrimp cooked perfectly with potatoes, corn and a small piece of sausage for $12.99. This time we got the special party seafood boil and the 4-Piece catfish dinner. Again, I think they have good value for what you get. The seafood boil easily fed 2 people with 1 snow crab cluster,10 medium shrimp, 10 crawfish, potatoes and corn. It also listed sausage but we didn’t get any of that and I think there should have been 2 corn on the cobs for such a big serving of everything else. The fried catfish was also a really good value, 4 huge pieces of fish and french fries for $10.99. Give them a try.

Lil Kats Seafood – Menu with Prices – 8006 W Metairie Ave, Metairie

I am the self proclaimed ‘Crawfish Queen’ of our household, just ask Matt. I have a serious addiction to these little mudbugs and as a result I’ve tried just about every place that sells boiled crawfish within a 5 mile radius of our home. I’ve got to give it to the guys who run this business, hence the 5 stars!, because they’re serving up some of the most flavorful, well seasoned and largest crawfish in the area and quite possibly in the entire city of New Orleans! I have several places I’ve visited in the past when I’m in the mood for boiled crawfish, but since discovering Lil Kat’s Seafood I have to admit I’ve all but abandoned them. Lil Kat’s is located on W Metairie, in the same strip as Come Back Inn. I’ve been going to Come Back Inn going on eight years now, but have only discovered Lil Kat’s within the past 6 months. All I think nowadays is WHY did it take me so long to try this hidden gem!?! I may never know the answer to that question- but I have seen the light that is Lil Kat’s and it draws me in like a mosquito in the night every single time the word crawfish crosses my mind, which to be completely honest is pretty much every other day. Like Teneha B. said, I now try to find any excuse to sneak over here to grab a few pounds of their amazing crawfish! However a word to the wise- if it’s a holiday weekend you may want to do some planning in advance because they have been known to run out of crawfish (boiled and live) towards the end of the day. I’ve never had an issue when I stop by around lunch time, but I stopped by last weekend around 5pm to grab a few pounds for dinner and they had already run out and another small batch wouldn’t be ready for another hour. I damn near lost it, and wandered around aimlessly like a drifter- because like I said before, I have all but abandoned my previous crawfish suppliers. No one’s boiling them like Lil Kat’s! So instead of getting boiled crawfish from somewhere else only to be extremely disappointed, I just opted for something else entirely and went for Dungeness crab which worked out quite nicely. Needless to say that as I write this review, I have yet to get my weekly crawfish fix so I will certainly be making up for that this coming weekend! Lil Kat’s is DEFINITELY worth the trip from wherever you are coming from, be it Baton Rouge or the West Bank. I will advise that they don’t have anywhere for you to sit and eat inside/or outside of the restaurant, so plan accordingly. If you don’t live nearby, maybe bring a big blanket and head out to Lafreniere Park for a picnic. No matter where you decide to eat them, just get on over there and try them!

Creole Gold – Menu with Prices – 1810 Rayford Rd, Spring

Crawfish season is here, and I’m so glad I found Creole Gold. I had a craving a few weeks ago and ended up getting some cooked at one of the local grocery stores. It was OK, but just, well, OK. Visited Creole Gold last week (and today) and won’t settle for the grocery store pop-up again!!! Their crawfish was a good size and had great flavor. Maybe it’s the freshness of the crawfish, but you can taste a little of the water they came from (that’s a good thing)…actually tastes like seafood. It’s seasoned perfectly with enough kick to let you know it’s there, but not so much as to put you in pain. It had a nice build of spicy that by the 4th one, I could feel a nice tingle on my lips. Some places around here seem to think there’s a competition on making it as hot and unbearable as possible. This crawfish also had flavor IN the meat. They don’t sprinkle the seasoning on top of the crawfish, but when you suck the head and eat the tail meat, it’s inside, not just covering the shell. Corn and potatoes were included and also had good seasoning. Corn was sweet and had a touch of spice. They have other options (Jambalaya, Catfish, Gumbo, etc.) and the bread pudding is ridiculously good. They take their show on the road every once in a while, so check their calendar to make sure theyâ??re at the spot before you come. Oh, crawfish was $6/lb the day I visited. I think it may vary during the season.

Louisiana Lagniappe Restaurant Menu with Prices 9990 Perkins Rd, Baton Rouge

My family and I came to this restaurant late at night from a tiring road trip from Austin to Baton Rouge. We admittedly did not do any research on Yelp like we should have, but we were desperate. I know that Louisiana is famous for its fish, but Lagniappe blew my mind away. I had the tilapia with white sauce on top. Amazing. This restaurant can make even tilapia taste good. While the menu did not specify what kind of sauce was on top of the fish, the sauce tasted suspiciously like mayonnaise. Mayonnaise is always good, so I have no complaints. The catfish was… Well catfish. But it was still just crunchy enough for any age group to enjoy. The waiters were all attentive and polite. Parking is plentiful at eight at night. The restaurant looks like an establishment where older, wealthier families would go. It’s even dark and has clean, white table cloths. However, there were a surprising number of young kids.

Chuck Wagon Crawfish – Menu with Prices – 8696 Youree Dr, Shreveport

Worst crawfish I have ever had. They taste like they were boiled with lemons and then after being cooked had seasoning dumped on them. I LOVE spicy food, but these are not “spicy” they are unpleasantly over-seasoned. I literally had six crawfish and had to stop. My lips HURT, and my upper lip is sweating. The heat is topical, and does not permeate to the actual crawfish tail. Not juicy at all; you’re sucking air if you go after the head. Claw meat minimal despite good sized crawfish; however, they also seemed to have been beat to hell and back. This is likely a result of when (I observed while waiting) they are dry seasoning after the boil and stirring…in a cooler. Side note, it wouldn’t hurt to see one or any of the employees smile.

New York Pizza and Pasta Menu with Prices 5380 Jones Creek Rd, Baton Rouge

Had dinner tonight at New York Pizza and Pasta on Jones Creek in Baton Rouge. I’ve eaten there once before and the service was fantastic and the pasta was amazing. Tonight though, I finally tried the pizza. Wow. Some of the BEST pizza I’ve had in Baton Rouge. The cheese was piled on and the sauce was so good. The service this time was the best I have EVER received at a restaurant in this area so I took down EVERYONE’S names that helped us! Noelle took our order and was so sweet. Yona brought us our drinks and checked on us. Jansen brought us our food and checked on us throughout the meal. Everyone was so nice. Customer servive here is great. I’ll definitely be back. If you haven’t tried it yet go NOW! Well…not now, they’re closed. Go when they’re open. You’re much more likely to get food then. Try the meatballs!!!

Tep’s Fresh Seafood – Menu with Prices – 1233 N 3rd St, Harrisburg

I love going to the Broad Street Market for lunch. Today was my first visit to Tep’s, mostly because there is always a huge line. That should tell you something. In the interest of trying a few things I got the seafood platter for $16.95 which includeed a full container of the fish of your choice (I got flounder), a crabcake sandwich, six large fried shrimp, 2 sides (I got fries and greens) and a soda. When my number was called I received a full bag with 2 heavy styrofoam containers, 3 slices of white bread, cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. I would have liked some lemon. I’d have even paid extra. It’s enough food for 3 people and it’s quite a bargain. Crabcake- was fried, served on a burger bun. Almost entirely sweet crab meat. A little celery, a little onion. Absolutely delicious. I did encounter two tiny bits of shell. Fried shrimp- big. Not too much breading. Tasted fresh and yummy. Flounder- three large filets, seasoned well, flour/cornmeal dredged and fried crispy. Im normally not a big fan of fish fish (as opposed to shellfish) but this was perfect. I got fries as one of my sides. The sides were the only disappointing part of my meal. I also got greens. They were a little bitter to me but maybe that’s how they are supposed to be? Overall, A+ for this no frills market establishment. Will visit again.

J&G seafood market Menu with Prices 8580 Greenwell Springs Rd, Baton Rouge

These are the most customer friendly business owners I have ever known. I always support even if it’s just buying boiled shrimp but my Favorite of course is boiled Crawfish!!! They are the best this side of B.R well it doesn’t matter where I am in B.R I’m driving to G&J because I can count on them for consistency in flavor. These snow crabs are Huge and nope they are not King Crabs they are just nice sized and meat filled snow crabs. All the seafood has good flavor, if it’s not closing time and they are running low on something and there is enough time they ask if you are ok with waiting and they will prepare more for you. If you want to boil the seafood yourself this is your place for Live seafood and all the supplies needed to get a good boil going even the onions, corn and potatoes can be purchased. If you are looking for the La seafood products for your Gumbo this is your spot!! I always visit when I’m in Baton Rouge and as long as they are in business I will support because their food is the best and they are the nicest ever!!

Shell Shack – Menu with Prices – 7918 S Broadway Ave, Tyler

Went their on a Friday at 6:00 P.M on 8/09/19. Did not have a pleasant experience. Pro: Waitress was nice. Hush puppies were good. The batter on catfish was light and good. Cons: Grilled shrimp was over cooked – rubber, plus it come with the shell on, pain to peel off and does not say this on the menu. French fries were not hot and were overcooked. Steamed broccoli was very bland, no taste. Waitress took a while to get items to the table. i.e. ketchup, salt, pepper. By the way salt, pepper and ketchup on table so if you want it asked in advance bc you have to wait while food gets cold. Fried Catfish, one piece tasted murky/muddy just had a peculiar taste that Catfish has sometime has. No seasoning on it either. it’s an open concept so very noise. The music was loud, with all the noise was just unpleasant. Little expensive, Two fried catfish and lots of fries and two hush puppies $12.99. No other sides. Other places i.e. Clear Spring gives you more food for same price. Guess we got wrong thing bc they were busy and other people seemed to have no problems. Waitress would not come pick up the bill, finally put cash down and left very disapointed. Will not go back.
