My mom and I came here at 12pm on a Monday. There wasn’t a long line when we arrived although I was told that there usually is. We had a hard time deciding what to order as all their milkshakes looked so aesthetic and good — we ended up going with the “sea turtle milkshake”. The milkshakes in the mason jars are $15 (a pint) which was a shocker; it makes sense though as you’re paying for the drink and a glass jar. After ordering, we sat down at a small table and it took some time for our milkshake to arrive. When it did come though, it looked exactly like the picture! The “sea turtle milkshake” is topped with a mountain of whipped cream with a chocolate drizzle and two caramel chocolate turtles guarding it on both sides. The mouth of the jar is covered in chocolate and waffle cone bits. The milkshake itself is super good and sweet! It’s rich in a vanilla and nutty flavor and the caramel drizzle on the inside of the jar gives it an extra kick of sweetness. After a few sips however, it becomes a little too sweet for comfort so I would recommend sharing it with 2 or 3 other friends. Although I did enjoy my visit to The Yard, there were areas for improvement. The dining area was quite small for how popular they seem to be; I think around 6-7 groups can actually dine inside comfortably. I also feel that they should redesign their menu, more specifically change their menu’s font. It was difficult to find the pricing for many things as the title text was hard to read. While we were ordering our milkshake, the cashier was circling and marking our order onto a 8×11 sheet of paper with all the milkshakes on it. This acted as the order information to be given to the milkshake makers. It seemed like a waste of paper and a waste of space honestly. There are easier ways to write out the orders and you can just tape three or four menus onto the walls just in case someone forgets what goes into each milkshake. I give this place a 3/5 because of how expensive it is. Honestly, I feel that you’re paying for moreso the aesthetic than the drink itself. The milkshake was good and rich in flavor but definitely not rich enough to be worth $15. There are also some areas of improvement that can be made which adds to the score.

The Milk Shake Factory (Oakland) – Menu with Prices – 3612 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh

Drinking the milkshakes here was a true bruh moment. I bought three milkshakes, the S’mores and the Slated Caramel were the gourmet drinks as they call it, and a Plain Vanilla milkshake for one of my friends. The first gulp was heavenly: the thick vanilla base had a rush of sweetness to it, and my friend and I gave each other a look of pure satisfaction in the hot weather of that day. the vanilla milkshake lasted for quite a few hours after we bought it, and it was met with the same enthusiasm as the gourmet drinks. The drink also had a s’more inspired chocolate bite on top of it, which tasted okay (maybe because I’m not a huge fan of white chocolate) but it was a great complement with the drink itself. (pictured below) Since I was buying an extra milkshake, the server immediately asked me whether I wanted a drink carrier, which was extremely kind and awesome of her to do! While paying the bill, the approachable and kind servers ask you to pay a tip within their card machine, which I found super convenient, and the location itself is quaint, with a blue and marble themed aesthetic that honestly, spoke to my damn soul. The service was fast, and they have a selection of delectable chocolate snacks you could try out as well! The posters on the wall make for a pretty Insta-worthy story, and the music and ambience are fantastic. I’m coming here multiple times, I guarantee it. P.s. If you are keeping your drink for a leftover, just add a few ice cubes, and you’ll be good to go!

The Sweet Spot – Menu with Prices – 1718 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach

I was excited to try their explosive milkshakes and excited that we have a local business that provides the opportunity to experience these “crazy milkshakes” without having to venture out to DC, NYC etc.. you get the point. Sweet spot is sweet on the outside but lacks the pizazz on the inside. I can only vouch for their explosive cotton candy milkshake. It’s like a hot person with a sub par personality. They look good on the outside but are lacking on the inside. The milkshakes look amazing but they taste OK or are a bit on the lackluster side. Without a doubt these explosive milkshakes are definitely Instagram worthy and an experience. I mean who willingly goes to pay big bucks for diabetes in a mason jar. Haha I guess apparently I do and other fans that crave creative culinary desserts. In a way it’s good that it wasn’t very sweet. My disappointment lies in the taste. As nice and fun as the cotton candy whips were carefully crafted atop my milkshake and the mason jar swirled with pretty pink and blue colors of sugary syrup lines and sprinkles on top, it was nothing more than a costume for the milky watery clotted ice cream. It basically tasted like the ones you make at home when you want a milkshake and are too broke to go out. So you just throw any flavored ice cream in a glass of milk. That’s the best way I can explain the taste of the explosive milkshake. Insert whatever flavor ice cream in milk. HOWEVER… all is not lost, redeeming qualities of this business .. were the service I received on a Saturday night. It was packed but they’re fairly organized and quick. They have many options with various styles of ice cream from rolled ice cream, crazy milkshakes, traditional ice cream, bubble waffles, churros. It’s like a mini ice cream convention. The presentation is aesthetically pleasing. The business interior reminds me of the Museum of Ice Cream, all pink, fun and whimsical stirring up Care-free moments of your youth and relationship with your old friend ice cream but with a twist. So long story.. long, if you come for the Instagram photos you won’t be disappointed but if you’re coming for taste go somewhere else. But if you haven’t tried an explosive milkshake, do it at least once. Yes the prices are steep but come on, you can’t expect to get a Porsche for the price of a Chevette.

Coco + Hazel – Menu with Prices – 411 N Ridge Rd, Richmond

Whimsical milkshakes and other delectables are what Coco & Hazel offers in an unassuming spot within a shopping center. Right outside, there are cute tables and chairs for outdoor enjoyment. Inside, you are welcomed with menus on a counter, light wood tables, and light mint green walls. The milkshakes are rather pricey, starting at about $12. They are decadent enough to share between two people, and let’s be honest, you probably should do that even if you think you can finish one on your own. Two of us came here and had a hard time choosing between the Oaxacan and Birthday Cake options. We asked the girl working there what she would suggest, and she said that she hadn’t tried any of the milkshakes before. I thought that was strange. Either she has good willpower to not try them or it’s not as important to the business to ensure the people working there know the product. Even still, she stated the Birthday Cake is the top seller, so we went for that. We grabbed a couple of waters and a table, and almost immediately, our milkshake appeared. It was HUGE. As the photos show, it was colorful and fun to look at! We got another plate, straw, and spoon to share which was nice, because we could take the cake slice off the top and set it aside. The cake slice was, unfortunately, extremely dry. It didn’t taste stale, but it needed moisture. The icing was creamy and the right amount of sweet though. The cake itself was also not sweet, so we would take a bite of it and dunk it in the milkshake which was a winning combo. The milkshake itself was divine – It was not overly sweet, creamy, and smooth. I appreciated that it wasn’t so thick that it didn’t come through the straw. We were able to scarf the whole thing down very quickly and were pleasantly full afterward. Random note – The straws are a little short for the glasses. I also noticed that, while the place was full, no one else had the Birthday Cake! Every party had a different one, be it the coconut one or the peanut butter one. I guess it really just depends on what you’re in the mood for. Coco & Hazel also has pastries, ice cream, and coffee drinks. Given how artistic and colorful the milkshakes are, I wish the atmosphere was a little brighter and more colorful. Bottom line: I am glad Richmond has finally moved a little beyond the typical ice cream and cupcakes and into more decorative desserts. If you are looking to splurge, Coco & Hazel will not let you down!

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Menu with Prices 863 Arlington Ridge E, Akron

I’m generously giving it three stars because it is new, but again, thats generous. Walked in and it was pretty packed, they have tables so close to the registers, it’s like your standing on top of people to order, and the people eating have people standing on top of them in line, definitely could have used a little more room. Ordering was fine, the girl told me they would call my number when my milkshakes were done, we went and sat down and our food came out fairly fast, after not hearing anything about our milkshakes i walked back up and they were sitting there melting, I said are these mine? Nobody called the order out? As i was grabbing mine the milkshake girl set someone elses up there, never yelled just set them on the counter, so im assuming the same happened to them. Overall the food was just meh, my daughters burger was so thin it was burnt, like to a crisp on the outside edges, once she picked around that it was alright. The prices are a little high for basically what is fast food, i guess you are paying for ambiance it does have an old school diner feel to it.

Crabby’s Corner Savannah – Menu with Prices – 108 Shipyard Rd, Savannah

Greattttt place! And I mean GREAT. Me and 4 of my buddies roll in here, and I think they close st 8? Idk I wasn’t sure bc they acted like they were closing up shop but they insisted that we came in and ordered even tho I told them it was okay, so needless to say great service and business in their part. The place is set up really neat, you walk in and order and then you could go to the room next door and they bring you out your order. And the seating area is nice and very inviting. They have a nautical theme going on and I couldn’t help but to admire the painted on artwork on the walls, the cool lamps/decorations and all around serene ambiance. Very nice! It was so hard choosing what to order, between ice cream or milk shake and geeeez what flavor to get? They recommended their milkshakes and they made a dang good recommendation if you ask me. I got the salted caramel milkshake and WOW that sucker was on time. It was perfect texture, not too viscous but also not too dense, perfect medium that allowed you to slurp that sucker down. The taste was allllll there, I don’t know if I’ve ever had a richer milkshake where you could taste every bit of flavor that went into it. My friends got the banana pudding milkshake and they oozed over them just as much so it sounds like you can’t go wrong with what you get here! It’s a little bit away from everything else going on in savannah but this place is a hit!! If it was located downtown or anywhere closer to midtown I’m sure that they would be just as popular as any of the other guys in Savannah. But for me, I don’t mind driving a little extra to get quality goods, and this my friends is so worth the trip!

Keefnerâ??s – Menu with Prices – 1941 W Iles Ave, Springfield

Our sandwiches were served on stale Kaiser buns. My chocolate milkshake was made with a thin consistency, with almost no ice cream, and served in a very small glass (with no milkshake mixing container). I asked for extra chocolate and was willing to pay an upcharge, but I could barely taste the chocolate. When we were asked by the waitress what we thought about the meal and milkshake, we reported the facts and we were told that we we had to inform her earlier for her to do something about it. Concerning the milkshake, the waitress told me that it is a good thing that it only costs about three dollars. We’re not going back.

Baby Bite Bake Shop – Menu with Prices – 975 Airport Rd SW, Huntsville

Brought home 9 baby bites for my mom’s birthday and we really enjoyed them! The cakes were overwhelmingly moist and tasty. The shop is very tiny, located in the big shopping center on Airport with Stein Mart, Metro Diner, and Surin of Thailand. Similar to Nothing Bundt Cakes down the road, there’s no room to sit and eat inside the place – it is mostly for carry out and catering/events. The baby bites are super cute and the perfect mouthful, so they’d be great for a wedding or baby shower or even a tailgate party. The shop is new and decorations are sparse so far, but it’s still a cute little place with bright colors and friendly employees. Bites are a little over a dollar each but can also be bought in sets of three, starting with a 6 pack. E.g. a 6, 9, 12, or 15 pack. Some flavors are available every day, some only on certain days. Here’s my breakdown of all the flavors I tried, in order from most favorite to least favorite: 1. The marble flavor. Deliciously moist chocolate cake with sweet – but not overpowering – chocolate icing. The vanilla crumbs really bring out the chocolatey flavor. 2. Coconut! These adorable little cakes look like snowballs. They’re covered with shredded coconut, which I loved. 3. Chocolate espresso. This flavor is only available on select days – I got it on Tuesday. It is VERY strongly coffee flavored, so avoid if that’s not your thing! I like all coffee flavored desserts, though, so I really enjoyed this cake. The icing was a little thick, but I enjoyed the contrasting chocolate and coffee tastes. 4. Red velvet. Supposedly their most popular flavor, this was a fine example of red velvet cake. The icing wasn’t too overpowering and the chocolate flavor of the red velvet came through nice and strong. 5. The turtle flavor. Another daily special flavor. I was hoping this would be my favorite, but it left a little to be desired. Although I enjoyed the cake, I thought the caramel drizzle made it a bit too sweet. I also really wanted more pecans – there was only a small crumble on top of the cake. This was also the only cake bite that I thought was a little on the dry side. 6. My least favorite was the caramel flavor. Unsurprising – I found it too sweet, like most caramel cakes. Still, the aftertaste was pleasant enough, and I’d be willing to eat it again if offered – however, I probably wouldn’t order it again. I’m not sure of their catering prices, but Baby Bite cakes sure are adorable and yummy! I’ll be keeping them in mind for any future events I may be hosting. ?

Super Boyâ??s – Menu with Prices – 1480 Main St, Winnipeg

+.5 for service Super Boy’s definitely deserves its 4+ star rating, and it’s consistently rated as one of the best burger joints in Winnipeg. Definitely not a baseless claim at all. It’s a typical small size restaurant with places to sit inside. The menu can be a bit tough to see, but the usual burger offerings and milkshakes are there. I went with the super boy, as well as a chocolate milkshake. The super boy is essentially their version of a fat boy, and man do they do it good. The patty is extremely juicy (and crunchy) and the size is plentiful. The chili sauce is on point, and all the other ingredients are fresh as well. Did I mention their sesame seed bun is on point too? The milkshake was also very good, although the quantity is smaller than the Burger Place for the price I paid. Service was excellent. The owners seem to know the regulars quite well, and greet you when entering and leaving. It may be a bit out of the way, but it’s definitely worth a trip every so often.

The Sweets Life by Liza – Menu with Prices – 20371 Bluffside Cir, Huntington Beach

WOW! These cupcakes are nothing short of orgasmic. I’m talking cream-your-pants good! I first had these at the Pageant of the Masters season opener VIP party in July and I figured they’d be good but wow, they really got my attention. I don’t know how Liza did it but these perfectly moist and fluffy cupcakes were topped with just the right amount of frosting to create something rich without being too rich, and sweet without being too sweet. The frosting reminded me of the buttercream frosting my mom used to make – real butter and just the right amount of sweetness. The cake was moist and fluffy without falling apart like some I’ve had. So a couple months later I was had family visiting and ordered 2 dozen of 4 different flavors. They were even better than I remembered. Rich chocolate flavor, nice bright pear flavor with spiced cake, and the salted caramel frosting… my absolute favorite! And to add icing on the cake (haha, you like how I snuck that in?) I got two extra cupcakes as a surprise, made to look like… wait for it… POOP EMOJI! They were cute, hilarious looking, and downright delicious. (see pics) All in all, these cupcakes aren’t cheap but they’re worth every penny. I won’t be ordering these every month (gotta keep my boyish figure) but for special occasions these are the perfect treat.

Buzzed Bull Creamery – Wilmington, NC – Menu with Prices – 3224 N College Rd Suite B, Wilmington

Tried this new dessert franchise on their official opening day. They offer ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and milkshakes, which are all made with liquid nitrogen and served in a cup or bowl. You have an option of non-alcoholic or adding some alcohol for an additional price (21yrs+). This dessert place is located inside Roll On In. They have signs of how to order on their menu board. You can either make your own ice cream or choose one of their specialty ice creams/milkshakes. The specialties outlined in a box are the most popular/favorites. Essentially, first pick your flavor, then size, either ice cream/yogurt/sorbet, alcohol, and finally mix-ins or toppings. One of the staff said a small size cup would equate to about one beer. I ordered a small Death by Chocolate ($5.39), which was one of the best ice creams I have ever had. The ice cream was wonderfully thick and sweet. The base is your usual cream, milk, and sugar with the liquid nitrogen. Then it’s mixed with chocolate chips and laid on top of small pieces of chocolate brownies. To finish it off, it’s drizzled with a generous amount of Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Death by Chocolate really is chocolate heaven and hit the spot oh so right. It was cool to watch the ice cream being made. It took a few minutes for it to come together, but wasn’t that long. You could grab a meal at Roll On In, then hit this spot for dessert right after, all in the same building.

Antler Baking Co. Menu with Prices 10 Prospect St, Bellingham

Well, my girlfriends and I always love a good dessert, and when we saw the display earlier in the day the Woods Coffee employee gave us the scoop and said you have to try her desserts. We have our usual favorites in town for certain things, but I do think Bellingham can always use a great little dessert spot that offers up a variety of items beyond just cupcakes/cake. Amidst the decor of warm woods and white cake stands is a variety of impressive desserts. Our selection for the day included peanut butter pie, a chocolate torte with a berry sauce, carrot cake, a gluten free polenta cake, porter chocolate coconut caramel, white cupcakes with raspberry and a tequila frosting I think, and mascarpone chocolate chip cookie sandwiches, among other things. What I love are the unique flavor combinations: cardamom, porter, sea salt, candied orange, mascarpone….these desserts are definitely elevated beyond your typical fare. I opted for the cupcake and chocolate cake. The cupcake was dense and moist, just the way I like cake. The tart raspberry balanced lovely with the sweet frosting. The chocolate cake was phenomenal. A lighter cake in crumb texture but rich in chocolate flavor and superbly moist. The coconut flavor in the frosting resonated but didn’t overpower and the toasted coconut on the exterior added a great textural element. The porter was pronounced, with that coffee richness I associate with those beers. The caramel was rich and delicious. Overall everyone in my group raved about their desserts, and we are so happy to have a unique delicious option in downtown and close to work. Check it out!

Casa de Chocolates Menu with Prices 2629 Ashby Ave, Berkeley

Tapatio chocolate bonbon!!! SOO GOOD. So much to choose from! I saw pretty pictures of chocolates from this place, and I just had to visit. The pieces they have here are very delicate and they have one of those “you break, you buy” rules, especially for the various chocolate bars. From the door to the case and registers, they have various chocolate bars in a couple sizes. The flavors look amazing, such as mole, orange chocolate, fleur, etc. They even have a bar in pieces for sampling. They also have lollipops and other shaped chocolates. Onto the fun stuff – the chocolate case. All the pieces look so amazing, and they have a variety of flavors – fruity ones, alcohol ones, floral, caramels. I got a giftbox of 6 pieces that includes – Tapatio – first time having a tapatio chocolate. tapatio ganache inside, and wow, I was surprised it went so well with the chocolate. It was definitely my favorite piece. There was good spice with the sweetness that I immediately wanted more. Guayaba (guava) – amazing lightly sweetened guava flavor in the center of the chocolate. Very good. Maracuya (coconut milk ganache, passionfruit) – just like the guava, good flavor of the fruit. YUM! Petalos de Rosa (rose petal ganache) – hint of floral flavor. Mole – mole flavor! Similar to the tapatio, there was a small kick of heat. Chipotle Caramel – good if you like chipotle and caramel. good flavor, but I’m not the biggest caramel fan. The husband really enjoyed it! They also have Mexican hot chocolate and frozen Mexican hot chocolate here. I’ll make sure I try one next time I go here – some frozen hot chocolate with some tapatio chocolates, and maybe one of their cake desserts. MMMMM!!
