When’s the last time your bartender shook your hand? The few and rare times have been at the Whining Pig. This place stands out to me because of it’s very unique charm and massive menu of refreshments. You walk in and it’s pretty much a room with a bar. Around the circumference is additional seating and space for your beverage and snacks. Look to your right, the wall is a chalkboard completely overwhelmed by beer and wine selections. It’s a sight to be admired. It took me a couple visits to learn it and realize the variety and options readily available. Sometimes I order beer. When I do, I like to ask the bartenders and they always have a recommendation based on my tastes. They have over 100 craft beer selections, so it’s worth going back to really fine tune your favorites. There’s even a brown bag special – a mystery canned beer for cheap. Sometimes I order wine. When I do, I opt to create my own flight. I’ve carried a pretty good buzz off of several shades of red. Pare it with a meat and cheese plate and you’ve got yourself a date. Speaking of dates, you ought to bring a friend to this establishment. Taking turns picking drinks is half the fun. Then, bust open one of the board games. They’re all over the place. So, much like this bar, you’ll find something you like. I’m sure of it!

The Buzz Hive – Menu with Prices – 3761 State St, Santa Barbara

I’m a fan of the Buzz Hive. I’ve never even eaten at the standard tables at Whole Foods. Most of the hot prepared food I’d bought at WF usually came from the meat department, and most of what’s served at the Buzz Hive is from the meat department. It was a natural fit. I only go for lunch, and have found it to be a mostly quiet respite from the busy-ness of the grocery store. The Buzz Hive is a bar for beer and wine, overseen by the meat, deli, and cheese departments. When they first open for the day and sometimes on the weekends, there can be a little confusion about who’s running the counter because each of those departments might be thinking someone else is working the bar when nobody is actually there. But around lunchtime there’s a dedicated staff member or two and all’s good. There is a printed menu available, and a good selection of beer (and a kombucha) on tap and wine. But you can also order something from the prepared meats department and they’ll bring it over. Do check out the specials, some of their fish tacos are pretty good. I usually get a burger, and lately I’ve been getting the mac and cheese burger. It’s in the $8-9 range and includes a pile of french fries. My friends usually get a pint of beer, and I usually get a pint of kombucha. The meal averages out to $15. A nifty thing you can do is buy a friend a drink who isn’t there. The friend’s name will get put on a chalkboard, a bit like getting a gift certificate for them. It’s a fun little thing you can do for a peep if you know they stop into the Buzz Hive. This area is 21+ because it’s a bar, but I don’t think that’s why the Buzz Hive is rarely packed for lunch. I think people don’t really know about it, or don’t set aside time to investigate. I’ve found that other folks having a bite or a drink there are really friendly, we often end up chatting with them and with the folks working there. Maybe that changes when the space is more busy, but so far it feels like being in a hidden gem.

The Whining Pig Mcdowell Mountain – Menu with Prices – 10121 E Bell Rd suite 110, Scottsdale

What a great addition to the McDowell Mountain Ranch neighborhood! With over 35 rotating craft beer taps and another 100 canned/bottled options including some fantastic Imperial stouts and a huge wine inventory they have something for everyone. Their no-frills approach and rustic decor are refreshing with beer/wine lists and grilled cheese and meat/cheese plate snack options handwritten in colorful chalk on 2 huge blackboards. They even have a color coding system for the different beer styles with each beer having its own individual ID number. The staff is down to earth and fun to chat with and are very knowledgeable about everything that they serve. If you’re looking for a fun new place with lots of character and a local “Cheers” bar vibe, look no more!

The Casual Pint Huntsville – Menu with Prices – 2 Off Broadway St NW, Huntsville

Review was for To-Go beer only. Walked in on a Monday night and it was quite busy. They had a nice selection of room temp beer and create your own six packs of misc canned beers. There were almost too many beers to choose from to figure out what I wanted. I wish they were organized by location or type of beer. Crest your own six packs was a little confusing. Wish they offered more help or had better pricing. At $5 a single can your six pack is $30 but then I believe it’s a 40% off your total six pack when you take it to go. Pricing seemed high to me, esp if you only wants 3-4 beers, you end up paying the single can price. Good selection of draft beer too. If I’m back in Huntsville I’ll probably check it out again as I like to try the local beers and I now know what I’m getting into. Cheers!

Falls Village Wine & Beer – Menu with Prices – 6675 Falls of Neuse Rd #131, Raleigh

When I’m in north Raleigh, I always make sure to stop by Falls Village Wine & Beer for a quick beer or three… or a glass of wine on tap. It’s tucked away behind TJMax & HomeGoods off Falls of Neuse, but don’t let the hidden location deter you – it’s a hidden gem! There’s tons of parking out front, and the inside space is so open & airy. Love the gender neutral bathrooms too, so efficient. OH, and omg I love the wood bartop & glasses they use – you can tell the owner, Jim, put a ton of heart & soul into this place ? the customer service is top notch! You can also bring your own food in or get it delivered, and I think they have food trucks on weekends too. They’ve always got 12-16 rotating craft beer taps, many of them local but others from across the country – and some rare beers too! They’ve got a great selection of beer to go also… and some great bombers for bottle shares. Their wine program is awesome! They’ve got 6-8 wines on tap & the selection is always great! I love their wine tastings too. They always have SUCH a great wine selection – some very affordable, while others are great aged selections I don’t often find in the triangle. I like the way it’s laid out & easy to find everything. All in all, Falls Village Wine & Beer should be at the top of your North Raleigh drinking spots… whether for a work event, solo for a drink with a fun bartender, or takeout wine or beer – FVWB has all you need!

Mariscos El Culichi – Menu with Prices – 2901 W Expy 83, McAllen

We went to check this place out because we heard it was a good place for food and entertainment. We were not disappointed with the entertainment because it was good and we enjoyed it. However they gave us a drink menu which contained numerous wine selections on it. My wife loves wine so she ordered a glass. After about 15 minutes waiting for it she finally got it. When it was time for her to order another one they brought it back and my wife immediately noticed it had been watered down. When I finally found the waiter and told him about it he said there is no way they would water it down. So I asked him to go ahead and just bring her another glass. He left and came back and said they had ran out… so it made my wifeâ??s claim pretty substantial. Even then we tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt and my wife ordered a different wine from the menu. The waiter came back and said they had absolutely no wine but that they had beer. I like beer and thatâ??s not an issue but why provide a wine menu if they donâ??t have the wine and are willing to add water just to Make a glass. Ridiculous place because of that.

Villa Wine Bar and Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 618 Anacapa St #1867, Santa Barbara

We found Villa Wine Bar and Kitchen through Yelp, so thank you, Yelpers! What a great spot just off of the main drag through SB. We met both the chef and Sean, the owner, who was very knowledgeable yet not pretentious about wine. He had a nice selection of many local wines and different varietals, as well as some great beer selections on tap. The wine bar has a nice tiled fountain inside which gave a soothing sound as we sipped wine. The chef here is sending out of the kitchen the perfect food to complement the drink…paninis with prosciutto, sun dried tomato jam and mozzarella, a trio of dips with ciabatta bread, and a very nice meat and cheese board. This was all at lunchtime, which was not crowded and gave us a chance to talk to Sean and learn more about the wines we were enjoying. A very nice time was had, and we wish Villa all the success in the world!

Pour Wine & Taproom – Menu with Prices – 2905 S Ellsworth Rd Ste. 103, Mesa

We love having a beer & wine bar so close to us. They are always offering a great HH special. Craft beer is not cheap (anywhere) so for those who want domestic cheap beer this may not be the place for you. They are super competitive with pricing and with daily specials it’s a win – win! You can check to see what’s on special on Facebook. They are good about posting it prior opening so that you can plan accordingly. They offer a light revolving menu. This week I had the pork tacos and they were super yummy. If you’re super hungry, they have two to-go restaurants next door and you can have it delivered to you while your enjoying your beverage of choice!!! The best part is not only have we connected with likeminded people we’ve made new friends each time we visit! Please support local small businesses, especially concept ones that offer excellent selections of wine, craft beer & mead. Cheers!

Local Brew & Belle Vie Menu with Prices 21 Furnace St, Akron

Local Brew is great. It’s in a wonderful location with tons of seating and rotating local beer selections on tap. They also had a nice wine list if beer isn’t really your thing. I was looking at their two pumpkin beers on tap and the bartender was kind enough to give me a sample of both. I fell in love with the Imperial Pumpkin from Thirsty Dog. It’s aged in bourbon barrels and you can tell- the bourbon flavor is strong and delicious. I really appreciated the atmosphere/vibe in this place and would love to go back to watch a football game with a couple of friends and some great beer!

Brandywine Bar and Bottle Shop – Menu with Prices – 2408 W Northwest Blvd, Spokane

I highly recommend Brandywine for both enjoying and purchasing wine and beer. I have visited several times and am very impressed with their exceptional bottle and tap list (WINE ON TAP, people, is a glorious thing). In addition to friendly, knowledgeable service, great beer/wine/cocktails and lovely food, the live music on weekends provides a very welcoming ambiance indeed. And if you need beer or wine suggestions, they can be trusted to advise you perfectly! I needed to bring a bottle of wine to a recent dinner party, and asked the owner John for his advice on what to provide for people really into wine. He suggested a Cab Franc from Oregon which ended up being such a tremendous, delicious hit with everyone that I will absolutely rely on John’s wine recommendations henceforth. So if you’re stopping by to enjoy the well-curated tap offerings, be sure to take advantage of their insightful take-away beverage advice as well.

The Casual Pint – Menu with Prices – 8718 Countryside Plaza, Omaha

To some, this place will seem to be just another Blatt or Old Chicago make-over but don’t be deceived. This franchise place is serious about craft and microbrew beers. The line of taps is very good but you will want to browse their selections of individual bottled and canned beers which you can drink on-site. In some ways, it is like being at BeerUtopia but here you can actually drink the beer! They have packaged beer and may break it open for you to try a bottle or can. They also have a selection of food to eat as well, including chili and pretzels. They sell “growlers” but these are actually 32 ounce rounders. This is because the place is not a brewery establishment (an odd feature of Nebraska law). They have these rounders half priced on Fridays. They also have crawlers which are 32 ounce cans. Very convenient if you do not want to commit to buying an expensive growler, but their Club has an answer for that. They have a good selection on tap but the prices by the glass tend to be on the high end, $5 or more. You can get 5 once glasses of beer too. Buying bottled or canned beer is less expensive so I highly recommend you check out those offerings which are very diverse. In addition, the atmosphere is calm and homey. Since they don’t sell liquor, you don’t run in to the shot-glass party types so much. This is a good place to hit on your day off or after work. Also, come summer, they do have the ability to open up the side of the place to the great outdoors. Lots of good things here. If you visit this place on a monthly basis, you will want to download their app to earn points for free credit! If you visit weekly, you will want to consider their Brewmasters Club, a subscription service which comes with a free growler and fill. Ask servers for details.

Sams Pub & Lounge – Menu with Prices – 4657 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee

It is a dive bar! It is a cheap beer and wine joint that has poker. This is not something you can compare to a wine bar. Went here because we just wanted a drink. Did not expect absolutely anything. In fact, that is the best way to approach this place. Expect NOTHING, including liquor. Just wine and beer and cheap. If you just want to get out and you are in the fleabag hotel nearby for one night, this dive bar will fill the docket. Cheap, cheap, cheap beer and wine and service was good albeit we were a party of 3 and the only party. Service was great, we had the server to ourselves. She stayed open for us. I did not look at my bar stool which was a good idea. Not sure when the last time they cleaned it. It was a cow hide over a nice wooden stool that also had not been cleaned for some time. Go in have a cold beer and or cheap glass of wine, the 3 dollar bottle wine you get at Walmart and pay I think 2-3 dollars a glass and walk back to the cheap hotel. Bathrooms were about the same as the bar, and there is a poker on some nights. Parking looked easy if you drove. Would come back if we are on that side of town.
