Wanted to get some Indian food and this restaurant had a lot of really good reviews. That being said, I wasn’t disappointed. It doesn’t look that big on the outside but was fairly spacious when you get inside. Clean and tastefully decorated with good furnishings and settings. The staff were all very pleasant, courteous, and friendly. I went on a Saturday about an hour after they opened for dinner. Seating was open and service was very prompt while keeping up with a dozen or so other customers. I ordered Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, a Coke, and a Chai Tea. For dessert, I had Gulab Jamun. The Butter Chicken was very smooth, had good seasoning, and wasn’t acidic at all. The Garlic Naan was nice and crispy on the bottom without being burnt, while still being soft and fluffy on top. The garlic was evenly spread and wasn’t overpowering. The Chai Tea had a really good flavor. The Galub Jamun was fresh and soft with the right amount of sweetness. Altogether a very nice place to eat for dinner!

Tamarind Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 415 N Military Hwy #27, Norfolk

This place is an amazing hidden gem!!! Hands down best Indian food and the best prices. Went for lunch and it wasn’t too busy but as soon as I walked in the door the incredible aroma told me this place was gonna be good! Had the Meat Thali which is like a sample plate including two meat entrees, apple relish, rice, wheat naan, pappadam and gulab jamun, who could ask for more? The naan was very good to my amazement bc it was flatter than I’m accustomed to, the butter chicken and chili chicken were good but the gulab jamun will stick in my mind and to my ribs for a while! It’s like a fried donut hole soaked in maple syrup and garnished with shaved coconut, YUM! Also had the samosa chaat as a starter and it was delish! And a mango lassi because you kinda have to. Courteous staff, fast service and a good atmosphere. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!

Mehfil Indian Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1605 Douglas Blvd, Roseville

Wow. This is my new favorite Indian restaurant. Everything was amazing from food to service. My husband and our server, Sanjo, really seemed smitten with each other. He was very handsome and charming so I don’t blame my husband for being swooned. The chai was delicious and in the second batch they added just a hint of ginger. I’m not a big ginger fan, but I still thought the chai was delicious. I also thought it was a great way to show that they change up their chai a little so you know it’s fresh and specially made. We ordered meat samosas, a naan basket with the plain, garlic, and chicken filled naan, lamb vindaloo, and lamb rogan josh. Everything was spectacular. They gave us papadum and chutneys to start. I haven’t loved every chutney I’ve ever tried, but I enjoyed all of theirs! The chili one was a little too oniony for me, but that’s because I don’t care for raw onion. In contrast, it was my husband’s favorite. The meat samosas had a great dough and the meat tasted like great quality. The chicken naan was my favorite and the garlic naan paired super well with the lamb vindaloo. I was nervous about spice levels because at some places the medium is perfect and some (usually Indian or Thai places), it’s just a little too much for me. Sonja was great about gauging my spice level when I ordered and the dish was perfect. Enough of a kick to feel it and still enjoy all the delicious flavors. My husband added an order or raita for the plain naan since it was too much naan for our meals alone. Naan and raita is one of his favorite things. This was my favorite raita I’ve ever tried. I’m serious, this place had everything just so on point. Even though we were full and didn’t finish our meals, we had to add an order of gulab jamun and again, spectacular. It was a perfect little last minute date night and we will definitely be back when we’re in the area. Or we’ll head over to Roseville just to go back.

Bengal Bar & Grill – Menu with Prices – 3685 Preston Rd STE # 167, Frisco

I would rank Bengal Bar and Grill 2.5 – 3 stars. 2 would be too low. 3 might be too high. Having said that I went here because I saw they had close to 20 reviews and had a 4.0 rating. During lunch they offer Buffet. The Buffet is a bit overpriced for the selection they offer. There were not that many guests there to begin with, and that’s always a frightening thing at a place that offers a buffet. The number of items they offer were also limited and they were out of items like tandoori chicken and fish curry that we had to ask a couple of times before we got them. The chicken biryani has large pieces of potatoes in it. The first time I only got a piece of potato instead of chicken by accident. The dessert is not even worth trying, as I had both the gulab jamun and carrot halva. Carrot Halva tasted bad and did not have the right consistency to it. Gulab Jamun looked way too dark after you bit into it than any other I have ever had before. Bottom line is I would not be going back here again. There are just too many other good options out there.

Spice Club Indian Grill – Menu with Prices – 18011 S Tamiami Trail, Fort Myers

Here on Friday night for the first time with a neighbored and friend. We both love all the spices and flavors Indian cuisine offers. We were looking forward to this. We like everything we had. I think it may have been either the manager or owner who took our order. We were given lots of time to check out their very extensive menu and at such reasonable prices. There was a lot of great entrees on that menu so it was difficult to just settle on two. We decided on two types of Naan to have. One was plain and the other was a Naan stuffed with pieces of lamb inside. Both were excellent. Do not miss the Naan. They do a great job with that. I also asked for pappadam, which was too much given the two baskets of Naan but as usual, always want more! And I asked for the traditional trio…the sweet chopped onions, the spicy tamarind sauce and the mild chutney. Also asked for a side of Mango Chutney and Raita. We ordered the CHICKEN BIRYANI and the BUTTER CHICKEN as entrees. Both excellent. I also had my fave, the MANGO LASSI yogurt beverage. VG! For dessert we had their version of RICE PUDDING. and the GULAB JAMUN. Enjoyed that as well. I just wasn’t used to some chunks but mostly strips of (butter) chicken. But everything was very flavorful, the sauce was great, and of course just ate a tad too much. A portion of the entrees was taken home. It’s little over 20 miles from my house, but when it comes to good food, it’s never a problem. This place is worth the drive wherever you are. I’m looking forward to more visits here because there’s a lot of great entrees on that menu. Enjoy your time here! BTW, forget the rice that comes with the entree, get the COCONUT RICE!!! Soo good!

Chicago’s Pizza With A Twist – Menu with Prices – 1885 S Virginia St, Reno

Do yourself a flavor (see what I did there) and check this place out! You wouldn’t expect Indian food and pizza to work together but Chicago’s pizza harmonizes it perfectly. My friends and I indulged in chicken tikka masala pizza, kebob pizza, butter chicken pasta, and gulab jamun. One of the main reasons I wanted to try this place was because of their butter chicken pasta. It was totally different from what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. The chicken tikka masala and kebob pizza were delicious. I’ve never had pizza with so many ingredients that worked so well together. None of the ingredients overpowered the other. Each bite was an explosion of flavor. Out of the two I liked the chicken tikka masala more but I would definitely order both again. My friend even said that it was the best pizza they ever had! Pizza has never been one of my favorites but getting to try their twists has definitely made me a fan. We ended it on a sweet note with gulab jamun which is one of my favorite desserts. They served it warm which made it even more decadent. The workers are very friendly and eager to help if you’re overwhelmed by the menu and confused on what to get. I can wait to come back to try other things on the menu!

Everest Sherpa Restaurant Menu with Prices 2803 Oak Valley Dr, Ann Arbor

This was my very first visit here and it came highly recommended by a couple of people. I was excited as I had never had Nepali food before. I love trying new dishes and new places. I scanned the menu thoughtfully while I waited for my eating companions to arrive. I asked the waiter what he recommended. In overhearing our conversation, the table next to me gave me their recommendation as well as they were regulars. I was grateful to have a second opinion and I always like to hear what others have to say about dishes. When my guests arrived, we decided to try some appetizers as well because why not. I have so many restaurants to visit on my list, I have to get in as many as possible while I’m there since I don’t know when I’ll return. We oped for the chicken momos. Since we got a full order, we got half steamed and half deep-fried. We also got the veggie pakora. Of the two dishes, the stand out was definitely the pakora. It was so crispy and flavorful! And the brown dipping sauce it came with was amazing! The green sauce it came with wasn’t bad either but the brown one was really great! Of the momos, I liked the deep-fried better although I feel like I’ve had better dumplings other places. We also got some garlic naan and Tibetan bread since I read so many reviews about both. And honestly, I was disappointed by both. They were both definitely soft and chewy (almost too chewy, bordering gooey) but what was really lacking to me was the flavor. I could see the spices on the garlic naan, however, it didn’t translate when I was eating eat. And the Tibetan bread, I could see the cinnamon and sugar but again, it really lacked flavor. It was quite bland to the point where I decided to make a stop at another restaurant to pick up some bread. My main dish, the chicken makhani, was the redeemer of the naan. It was flavorful and tasty. They said it was similar to butter chicken and I love butter chicken so I wasn’t disappointed. And the rice was really good as well! It was light, and fluffy and cooked to perfection. Since I checked in on Yelp, I also go a free Sherpa Chai tea. This lacked the normal sugar content I’m used to in chai tea so that definitely took some getting used to but the more I drank it, the more it grew on me. I would come back again and try the chicken tikka masala as was recommended by the table next to us and the veggie pakora but I would do like I did this time and opt for naan from somewhere else. All in all, it’s a nice, cute spot that will hit the Nepali/Indian craving you have!

Tara’s Himalayan Cuisine – Santa Monica – Menu with Prices – 262 26th St, Santa Monica

Decided to try Taras with a friend who highly recommended it. They started us off with a complimentary papadum with a potato-like dip. I always like my complimentary items hehe. The papadum itself is like a thin, crispy flat bread. It was a bit too salty for my liking. There were still a lot leftover of this after the meal… Chicken Tikka Masala: The creamy, yogurt based sauce has a nice rich flavor. Perfect for dipping with the garlic naan, which by the way is a must with Indian curries. Chicken was a tad overcooked but I’m not too surprised since chicken in stews are often overcooked in restaurants. Midway through the meal, I started to notice how much oil the tikka masala had, making the dish a bit tiring to finish. Pro tip: pour some of the sauce over the rice. Garlic Naan: A must here if you get the curries. It’s always a nice vehicle for the sauce. The naan came out fairly crispy and warm. More garlic would make it even better. Service: It was nice they checked on us but at a point, it became a bit interruptive. Because there didn’t seem to be a designated server for our table, multiple people were checking in. Ambience: It’s nice restaurant with new decor. A fine place to grab dinner with family or friends. For the price (~$21), I was expecting a bit more quality but for being in West LA I guess it’s reasonable(?). The quantity was perfect- I was satisfied with the size of the garlic naan (although I’d probably share this between myself another person next time), chicken tikka masala and rice.

Royal Curry Lafayette – Menu with Prices – 4510 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy Suite- J, Lafayette

We were in the mood for Indian food, and this is close to our home, so we gave it a shot. It was fairly busy, which is a good sign. The place is somewhat more modern than what I’m use to, and it was really opened. We had the following: Chili Paneer – fried paneer with spring onions and ginger – I felt like this was really bland and had no flavor Garlic Naan – tandoor baked white flour bread seasoned with fresh garlic and cilantro – the naan was delicious, I wished I had ordered two orders, but did not want to wait Butter chicken – clay oven baked chicken, cooked in rich tomato butter cream sauce – the butter chicken was nice and creamy, really delicious and flavorful Tandoori Chicken – grilled chicken thigh marinated in yogurt & spices – took awhile for the tandoori to come out, it was hot and fresh when it came out, but there was a lack of flavor Overall, not a bad place to try Indian food, I would probably try other stuff there.

Taste of India – Menu with Prices – 5517 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle

How can you possibly give any less than 5 stars for a place that puts service and customer satisfaction over anything? The night started off with a decision to head to Taste of India for dinner. We were greeted pleasantly and were ushered to a table, we were seated and asked if we had any questions about the menu. Me being Indian my palate has been well accustomed to good Indian food so I always get a little nervous to eat at an Indian Restaurant for the fear that it may not deliver and oh boy was I wrong! A complimentary plate of mini samosa’s with a freshly ground mint and tamarind chutney arrived! It was absolutely delicious that it got us excited for the dinner! We quickly picked- Drink: Beautifully spiced Chai Appetizer: Vegetable Cutlet, Samosa Main course: Kofta Curry, Bhindi Masala, Garlic Naan, Basmati Rice The chai arrived first- piping hot with some nostalgic aroma of Cardamom and cinnamon Next in just a few moments our appetizers arrived, the Samosas were absolutely delightful but unfortunately I didn’t share the same enthusiasm about the Vegetable cutlets though the mint chutney it came with was delicious! Next, our main courses arrived liked clockwork! We had ordered spice level 5 it was perfect for us but if you cannot tolerate spice go for 3! Bhindi Masala- Basically an Okra Masala though simple – very hard to get it right but they were.. Smack on! Very delicious even when eaten with Naan or mixed with rice. Kofta Curry- very creamy, smooth, delicious and definitely leaving you wanting more of it Garlic Naan- soft, beautiful aroma of roasted garlic and melting butter. What a delight! The food was great but the service was even better! I rate any restaurant based on how they treat their customers and how attentive they are to their needs. Right from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were taken care of by the staff. Our water glasses were never empty, Chai was constantly refilled, our food arrived promptly, help even arrived to clear out extra plates when we had no space when all our food arrived and finally every piece of cutlery we needed were provided and even a new bottle of authentic Indian pickle was placed on the table before service! 5 stars does just about enough justice! I truly had a wonderful experience here! To wrap up, they placed a delicious Rasmalai (an Indian dessert) on our table after service and said that too was complimentary! We left with a smile on our faces and a very happy belly!

Guru Indian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 3140 Cowan Blvd, Fredericksburg

I was in the mood for some amazing butter chicken and garlic naan. I was not disappointed by this place. I believe I had been to their original location a few years back and as I recall, it was pretty amazing back then. I had butter chicken, palak panner, and garlic naan which were seriously amazing!! The best part is that they have a $10 lunch buffet Monday-Friday and $11 on Saturday and Sunday!!! I went here for dinner on a Friday evening and it wasn’t super busy. The staff was friendly and attentive. The place was clean and even the bathroom was clean. I’m definitely visiting this place again to try out the lunch buffet.

Peak Restaurant & Bar – Menu with Prices – 3401 W Airport Fwy #110, Irving

I visited this place on a Saturday afternoon for the lunch. The place is situated near to Irving Mall. This place is a restobar and serves the Nepalese and Indian cuisine along with drinks. Now, here is my perspective about the place. Food and Drinks (4.5/5) – I started with a Mango Lassi and it tasted awesome. Then I went on to try a couple of appetizers. Chips Chilli is a must try in appetizers. It’s a dish made of potatoes. I also tried their “Chatpate” dish which is what we call “Bhel Muri” in India. It’s a dish made of rice puffs beiing mixed with peanuts and small diced pieces of cucumber, onion, tomato. Then I went on to try on their Veg Momos which tasted equally good. In the main course, I tried Paneer Vindaloo with Garlic Naan. The curry was made of paneer (cottage chesse) and potatoes. I loved the spiciness of the curry. Finally finished my meal with Indian desserts such as Gulab Jamun and Ras Malai. I am sure u will love the Gulab Jamun here. Service (4.5/5) – I got a very warm welcome from the staff. Jasmine gave me some very good suggestions on what to try. Also, the food was served quick, fresh and hot. Ambience (4.5/5) – The interiors of the place are really good. They have a dim lit kind of ambience. They have 4-5 big TVs playing different sports on each one. So u can enjoy whicever sport u like. They have different kind of seatings (sofa, wooden chairs and high raise chairs near the bar). So you can chose whatever you are comfortable with. Overall, I had a great time here and would love to visit the place again.

Star of India – Menu with Prices – 4025 E Chandler Blvd, Phoenix

This review is just based on their lunch buffet – This is another place I would give a 3.5 stars if I could!! but Yelp hates nuance or something, so confident that this will not damage them too much given a very solid 4 star average overall, I’ll designate it as a 3. The restaurant is good! The food is good, the service is good, it’s clean and it smells great, and I liked that the buffet – uniquely among similar buffets hereabouts – had solid porcelain plates with little sections, like a northern thali. The buffet had two rices (basmati with just like, cumin, and then pulao), several chicken dishes, spinach, a mixed veg curry, chana masala (which I haven’t seen at a lot of Indian buffets around here?), shahi paneer, and samosas, as well as two deserts (kheer and gulab jamun). Naan (plain or garlic) is brought to the table. The spice level is pretty low overall – not bland food remotely, just mild. The food overall was really good, especially the naan, which was nice and flavorful and crisp. The samosas were a bit crunchy? Like the outside dough wasn’t as softly fried as I’m used to, but the inside was still delicious, and the inside of the restaurant – which is a bit smaller than I expected from the outside – is nice. This one is a bit out of my way, but if I lived closer, I would probably make it a staple of my restaurant going, and I would not warn anyone away.
