Went here for a friend’s birthday party on Friday, June 28th. The decor is cool, and the cocktails are good (overpriced, but that’s Greenpoint for you). I’m giving The Springs 2 stars because of how we were treated as paying customers – the management of this place is poor at best. A few of us had been to the Springs earlier this year for a work-related happy hour, and at the time they weren’t serving food. We checked the website on Friday 6/28 before the birthday party and it said in big, bold letters – Kitchen is Closed, BRING YOUR OWN FOOD. As of today, Monday July 8th, the website still says this. 4 of us who went together stopped by a local sushi place on our way over and got take-out to bring with us, and when we arrived at the Springs we got drinks ($15 bucks a pop for small cocktails) and sat down in a booth and started eating. More on this later. My friend who was hosting the party called a few days in advance to make sure the bar didn’t have any special events going on. She explained that she was inviting a large group of people and wanted to make sure there would be space. They told her there was nothing special going on and that there would be plenty of space, so when we arrived on that beautiful, warm Friday night to find that the huge backyard, one of the main draws of this place, was “closed for renovations” – we were shocked. That’s “something going on” that they should have let her know about when she called. At that point it was too late to change venues. We were about 3/4 of the way through eating our Sushi and drinking our really expensive cocktails when someone approached our table. She didn’t identify herself but it was clear she was a higher level employee of the Springs – maybe a manager – and she said, in a rather condescending tone, “We actually serve food here and you’re not allowed to eat Sushi. So if you could like, wrap this up. Thanks.” She started walking away from the table but I immediately said “It says it’s BYOF on your website, that’s why we brought food.” She paused, half turned back toward the table, and said, “Yea that’s actually a really old website that’s broken right now.” Broken? You mean the website that’s still up, 2 weeks later, and still says BYOF? Ignoring for a second that the website was clearly not “broken” by any technological standards, we just spent $60+ dollars on cocktails and were already almost done eating our Sushi. She could have been nice to us about it, explained that they need to update their website, or simply said “Hey it’s fine this time because our website is wrong, but just a heads up for next time.” Instead, she scolded us, and then I watched her go outside to talk to the bouncer, who a few minutes later came over to our table to tell us the EXACT SAME THING about how we committed a crime by bringing food. We were already made to feel bad once, but the bouncer was sent on a second mission to scold us, even though we were already done eating and clearing off the table. The weirdest thing about all of this is that they STILL haven’t updated their “broken” website. We were all a bit shocked that they treated us that way, honestly. No heads-up about the backyard closure even though we called to check, and acting like we intentionally broke the rules by bringing food. Not sure why this place would exhibit such poor customer service, especially when they’re a pretty new neighborhood spot. My friends and I all work and/or live in Greenpoint and could bring them a lot of business but we won’t be going back to the Springs because of this experience, and I hope someone from their management reads this review and updates their “broken” website before other paying customers are made to feel unwelcome for following the BYOF instructions on it.

La Distillerie no.3 – Menu with Prices – 2656 Rue Masson, Montréal

You definitely need a car to get to this place. This is a very hipster area. They speak English and French here so you won’t have trouble communicating here. The drinks are $10 – $20 for one. $20 for a large sized drink. They have a pretty good drink selection here. I tried a couple of their cocktails and they are OVERLY SWEET in general. I had never had such sweet cocktails in New York. I ordered the Miss Spritz and Mohawk cocktails. They are decent but I found it hard to finish the drinks since was so sweet. It was the same with my cousin N’s drinks (Pepito Pasteque and Super Mario) too. I would advise the bartender to make the drinks less sweet by like 50 or 70% if I were you. There was no wait to get in here and there were plenty of seats. The lighting in this place is very dim and you can actually talk and hear what your friends are saying in this place. FYI – This is a BYOF – Bring Your Own Food kind of place. I noticed a group next to us brought 4 pizza pies in. Overall, it’s a decent place to hang out with friends.

Traveling Tea – Menu with Prices – Orange

WE LOVED TRAVELING TEA!!! I booked Debbie to do my daughter’s 4th birthday Belle Tea Party yesterday for 11 girls! First, I submitted an inquiry online on the website and Debbie called me within an hour! Then, I was having trouble booking a venue so my date kept changing and Debbie was so responsive and flexible. She answered my questions quickly via text, sent sample pictures via text and when the day came, she showed up with her decorations which really matched the Belle theme! I was a little concerned about any boy siblings who would be attending but she had a separate set-up for the few boys there including vests in case they wanted to somewhat dress up. All of my daughter’s friends had tons of fun picking out a princess dress, getting makeup done, doing a fashion show, story time, drinking their “tea” (pink lemonade), making wands, doing a dance party and getting their nails painted–it was seriously the cutest thing ever. I had a couple of parents who came to me to tell me how it was such a unique and fun party that they would have to eventually get Debbie’s contact. Debbie and her assistant really kept the kids entertained that I felt like I got to relax and enjoy the party myself! They even offered to help cut up and serve the birthday cake –not just for the kids, but also for all of my family and friends who were also there to celebrate my daughter’s birthday! Talk about awesome! Also, for the tea party table, all I had to worry about was bringing the food that would go on her tiered trays. Debbie and her assistant were really sweet and were so great with the kids. I HIGHLY recommend Traveling Tea parties but I would definitely book soon as she gets booked up fast! A bonus–she takes Venmo which also makes it so convenient!!

Sushi Time Towa – Menu with Prices – 54 W Montgomery Cross Rd, Savannah

Not bad! Going to add this to the very short list of decent sushi spots in Savannah. I have been here twice and had tasty sushi both times. The sake is hot, the fish tastes great, and the sushi selection is impressive. I just spent over $50 there and did not feel any regret. The sushi rolls are small, though, so I had to add more maki to my order to feel satisfied. The customer service is iffy. The waitresses are extremely nice, but they seem overwhelmed. The first time I went, I was in a large party of about 30 people in the back room. The restaurant only provided two waitresses and they were forgetting orders and mixing up bills all over the place. This place also seems to bring in the sushi chefs’ friends and families to hang out during dinnertime. This second time around, a group came in that was clearly friends (or relatives) of some of the staff. They allowed their small children to sit at the sushi counter and ding the ‘order-up’ bell repeatedly, non-stop. After about 10 minutes of this, the kids got to clicking their chopsticks against the wooden surface of the sushi bar for quite some time. The sushi chefs were distracted, the waitresses were trying to make their way to other customers as children ran around, and it just sort of turned into a noisy daycare center. Besides all that, I was quite happy with the sushi.

Electric Pussycat – Menu with Prices – 103 E Broadway, Glendale

Not an Austin Powers bar anymore! I wanted to have my Austin Powers bday party here, so 2 weeks prior I e-mailed, called the manager, and called the bar. I finally got a response back the Mon before the party. I told them about the theme and that I had 44 people coming. I sent them a screenshot of the event. I asked for a little table that I could put my stuff at by the main floor. They wanted $1000, but we settled for $200. When I got there, they didnâ??t know who I was. I had no table, but even if I did, they were about 2 feet wide. Worst of all, they neglected to tell me it wasnâ??t an Austin Powers bar anymore. There were no themed drinks, no bright lights.. they were playing hip hop, and no fembots/Austin/Mini-me.. nothing on a Sat night. There was this woman singing horribly on a microphone for 15 min intervals as well. My friends were ready to shoot themselves. They didnâ??t tell me it wasnâ??t Austin Powers themed because they still wanted all of my people. That is WRONG, misleading, and just broke my heart. The manager apologized and said she had no idea about the party and gave me a few drink tickets and asked the dj to slip in some 60s songs but donâ??t go here. What they did was wrong and itâ??s just like any other dark LA club now. They need to take their website down that promised an Austin Powers bar. Thanks for making me feel like I wasnâ??t important.

Rock’n Sushi – Menu with Prices – 11940 Fairway Lakes Dr, Fort Myers

I recently discovered Rock N Sushi. it is a hidden treasure in Gateway! I live about 30 minutes away & have been coming to them for about a month now. They have a happy hour menu from 4-6pm Monday-Friday (I posted a picture of the menu). I like this place so much that I have started a list of sushi rolls that I have tried, and every time I go back I try a new roll until I have tried their entire menu. I’m doing that mainly because I have been to Blu Sushi so many times before that this place is just so unique with all sorts of different sushi roll options that I have never tried before. I highly recommend them and have referred tons of friends! They have a huge sushi menu (see photos) & a big menu for other food (I just go for sushi). I normally sit at the sushi bar and chat with the sushi chefs. Honestly, I have not had a bad experience so far & I am looking forward for many more visits (gotta complete my list!)

Chuck’s Fish Athens Menu with Prices 220 W Broad St, Athens

My boyfriend and I ate here last night with some friends for my birthday dinner. To start off there’s not a whole lot of available parking so you have to either park in a street spot way up the street or a street over or you have to park in the Georgia parking lot across the street- that doesn’t open till 5 though. Just an FYI. When we first got there our friends we’re running late so we sat at the bar and ordered a drink. My boyfriend ordered the black Manhattan off the cocktail list and I ordered the airmail. I do not like super sweet cocktails but I also do not like them to be bitter. Both cocktails were expertly crafted and tasted delicious! The bar staff were kind and obviously very well experienced. If you’re looking for a good cocktail look no further. After we had finished our cocktails we texted our friends Who said they were right up the street so we asked to get a table. The hostesses said they could only seat us if our party was complete. This was annoying considering that they tried to seat us incomplete when we first walked in and only now told us that. The restaurant was starting to get busy so we were a bit worried about securing a table. We sat back down and waited in the front anyways- but then while waiting we saw the hostesses seat 3 incomplete parties. Im not sure what was going on there- but that was a bit inconsistent and rude. Shortly thereafter our friends arrived and we sat down. I ordered their fish of the day with the seasonal vegetable and my boyfriend ordered sushi. We also ordered the bread and shrimp appetizer to start with. I don’t recommend the bread because it was just straight garlic bread (which we love! We were just expecting more like dinner rolls or something like that.) The shrimp was delicious and my boyfriends sushi was delicious too. My fish was “okay” but absolutely not worth the market price of $36. The fish was coated in a lemon caper butter sauce and It was served on a bed of rice pilaf and collard greens. The collards were good but the whole combination was just a bit odd. I think If the vegetable wasn’t collards and if the rice was mashed potatoes it would have been awesome. As it was now it left a little to be desired. He told them it was my birthday and they said they we could order something off the menu but didn’t do any complimentary birthday desert. This is obviously never required but just seems an industry standard at finer restaurants. Our friend ordered a mango sushi roll which he said was delicious. He ordered the chicken spring rolls and they were probably the best thing I ate all night. All in all it was a good experience but could have been better! If they could secure the birthday crowds they could be unstoppable as the go to place in Athens but as it is now they have some things to work on.

Oliveo Cafe and Hookah Lounge – Menu with Prices – 2620 W Broadway Rd #9, Mesa

I went to this hookah launch for the first time and the place looked beautiful, unfortunately I had the worst experience ever. The service was terrible. My friends and I ordered two hookah’s and it took over 30 minute to get it. I went to this location on a Friday night where many people come out to hookah spot and this place was under staffed. After getting our hookah it tasted AWFUL. After our coals went out we had no one to check in with us if we needed coals or not. I had to go to the cashier and request a coal and he told us he would bring them once he is free. He just ignored me and continue taking orders from guest who arrived after us. My friends and I waited for 30 minute and still the staff did not bring us coals for our hookah. The two staff were no where to be found. We got up again and looked for the staff and told them if we do not get coals for our hookah we would just like to pay for them and just leave he then told us he would bring them. The guy finally came and gave us coals for only one hookah and said he would bring More coals for our second hookah which he never did. I was so disappointed for their services as I was the one responsible for bringing my two out of states friends to this place. It was their first hookah launch in Arizona and they were excited to be out and have fun in AZ, but this place ruined their night out in the city. We ended up paying $46 for two hookahs including one hookah we did not use because it did not have lit coals and two sodas. I will never go to this place and just want to warn everyone for this place unprofessional services! Do not go to Oliveo Cafe and Hookah launch and instead go to other hookah place near by like Memos which we ended up going to.

Can Can Wonderland – Menu with Prices – 755 Prior Ave N #004, St Paul

Visited Can Can Wonderland on evening of September 14th 2019. 1) Checked on website and noted a $5.00 cover charge Friday / Saturday nights after 8:30 p.m. So I made sure we got there before 8:30 p.m. to avoid the cover charge as we were just there for the arcade games and not live music. Instead we were charged $2.00 (each) entrance fee even though there is no mention of THIS fee on the website. 2) We were encouraged to buy a 60 minute card for $18.00 which means you have to play 36 games in 60 minutes. Many of the games were out of order or had not been turned on when we were there. (Noticed that a whole room of pinballs were not working because someone hadn’t turned on the power). It would have been cheaper to pay per machine. 3} The place was hotter than hell and humid with no apparent air movement. Facilities were poorly maintained (stairwell rails hadn’t been maintained in years) signage was negligible, and the place has zero sound dampening. 4) Arcade machine maintenance was non existent with many machines out of order and the machines that were suppose to work had broken flippers, broken card swipes, etc. As an arcade, their competitors are much better and cheaper. I used no other parts of the venue so I won’t comment on anything else.

Ginza Sushi Fusion Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 13216 N 7th St Ste B2, Phoenix

This is probably one of my favorite sushi restaurants for the friendliness of the owners and staff who always make you feel welcomed as guests and friends. All of the menu items I’ve tried are great. The bar staff was delightful and we have never experienced long waiting times for food or drinks. As a Unfranchise business owner, another thing I like to do is support local businesses and Ginza is family-owned and operated. I’ve had their tofu plate, several of their sides, the miso and cocktails. All of tasted great. I have always been a bit sushi fan but in recent years I transitioned to plant based eating as an Ovo-vegan not many sushi houses carry a variety of vegan options that I can really say enjoy as much as the plates I’ve ordered at Ginza. We also have never had long wait times for seating. The atmosphere is casual but elegant with a fun outdoor tiki patio. Definitely worth trying.

LFG Gaming Bar – Menu with Prices – 116 Portage Street, Kalamazoo

This place is kind of like the Aquaman movie for me. I had really low expectations, and I actually wound up liking it better than I expected to. Basically a bunch of my gamer friends told me they hated it oh, so it had nowhere to go but up. If you’re going here first and foremost to have a great gaming experience, you’ll probably be a bit disappointed by lagging equipment and lack of variety. But if you’re here for a birthday party, for example — as we were on Friday night — and you might want to play a little bit of Super Puzzle Fighter or Guitar Hero while you hang out and catch up with old friends, you’re probably going to have a pretty nice time. The drink prices on the beers are very fair ($4-6 for local craft beers), but there’s nothing out of the ordinary on the list. Cocktail prices are mostly under 10, but no one at my table was impressed with what they got and our concensus was that one of their cocktails was basically like grape Kool-Aid for grown ups. The food likewise was kind of meh. The rice balls just needed a little bit of something else — the dipping sauce was delicious but they were just too ricey. Seems to me like there’s way too many great spots to score an amazing drink downtown for this place to do too well other than that niche factor of having old school games. I did like that they had some board games and party games (What Do You Meme, Cards Against Humanity, Jenga, etc.), too. Here’s hoping they add some pizzazz to both their drink and food menus, because this could be a pretty fun to hang out if they got all their ducks in order.

Novelty at 101 – Menu with Prices – 101 S Eola Dr suite 105, Orlando

I finally got to check this place out last Saturday for a Yelp Elite Happy Hour Event. We’ve been to this bar before but when it was called something else a few years back. Prior to Novelty, it was called Tsar Lounge but we went even before then when the name was an acronym for something like PDT (Please Don’t Tell) or something like that. Back then, it was a pretty dark inside but I remember it having some cool neon uplighting and being very Miami-esque. Upon entering the foyer, I was delighted to see how the space has completely transformed. It was light, bright, airy, modern, eclectic, and inviting! The manager Brittany was super friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, accommodating, and overall just a pleasant person to interact with. She made each guest feel welcomed as if this were her own home. She explained that the concept of the space was to make everyone feel like this was their second living room. They play music at a low volume so you don’t have to shout over your friends to hear each other talk, you can play some of the board games that they have on a shelf or bring your own, you can order food and have it brought in, and you can smoke cigars or hookah inside or outside on the patio. For the Yelp event, they offered a few specialty cocktails for us to try. One was called the Thornton Park which was vodka based and mixed with fresh pressed watermelon juice from Juice’d. Another was called the Eola Sunrise and it was tequila based with fresh coconut chunks and another fresh pressed juice. It sort of tasted like an elevated margarita. Both were very delicious and refreshing and I would order again. The bartenders included a nice pour of alcohol in each. They were also very friendly and efficient and no one stood at the bar unnoticed or had the feeling of being snubbed. Insomnia Cookies provided free cookies to all attendees which was a nice treat. I tried their white macadamia nut cookie and my husband tried the chocolate chip. They were so freshly baked they were nice, warm, and melty in our hands. Gent Life, a men’s lifestyle company, was also there to promote their services and website. They provide great advice to men on fashion, food, and travel. Think of it like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy but in a website form. Everyone was invited to stay after the Yelp event was over so our newly found friends that we met while mingling at the table ordered a hookah and a couple of cigars. We moved over to one of the couches and kept the party going. The couch was beautiful and comfy and we found out each piece of furniture in the place is for sale! I liked how they had different couches spread out throughout the space so everyone could have their little nook. There is plenty of seating and tables outside too. I want to thank Andi from Yelp for putting on another great event! I really hope this place does well. I feel like it should fit in with the Thornton Park crowd as it’s a very chill and unpretentious place. I will definitely be coming back again.

Toshi’s Cafe – Menu with Prices – 5710 W Gate City Blvd FF, Greensboro

I had sushi but there were plenty of sandwiches on the menu for those that donâ??t like sushi. The website is very helpful with a good description of the menu with pics. The staff is super friendly and you could tell they had a lot of repeat customers. They certainly made me one of their new repeat customers! The sushi was amazing. He has some new combos I hadnâ??t seen before including â??Katieâ??s rollâ? which he named after a girl that didnâ??t like sushi. There were several people here eating solo. Therefore you would feel comfortable having a working lunch here. Thereâ??s also a great coffee menu. Everything is very reasonably priced. My only criticism is the bathroom needed some maintenance ( the light was low and made a weird sound when I turned it on) However, everything looked clean. I was very happy and will return soon. Everyone should really give this place a try.
