Finally got to try The Southern Salad and I can’t believe it took me so long, this place is amazing! Ingredients were super fresh and the variety was endless. I ended up getting the Mediterranean grain bowl and my girlfriend got here Caesar Salad; didn’t realize until later that you could get protein options added of you wanted. Also had a good selection of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Salads are priced higher than what you’re used to, but the price reflects the quality you get. Can’t wait to come back and start working through the full menu!

Salus Fresh Foods – Menu with Prices – 101 Peter St, Toronto

I order through Ritual for lunch take out so that’s my only experience thus far. Wraps – 4/5 Salads – 2/5 I think the wraps are really delicious and the range of items you can get in the wrap are great – pickled onions, strawberries, egg, hummus, avocado to name a few! But they are never wrapped/stuffed evenly, so you’ll get all the egg at once, all the avocado at the end, etc. I think they need to train their staff on wrapping/stuffing technique. Also, if you add a protein (I add chicken), the wrap comes out to just under $15. Fifteen bucks for a lunch wrap is insanity. Salads also come out to the same price and mine was so disappointing – I expected a salad brimming full of each ingredient but it was lacking and I usually love a salad-only lunch. I was starving all afternoon and for the price point that’s unacceptable. I would recommend the wraps overall and would say skip the salads. Perhaps an in-person experience yields more ingredients.

Harvest Grains – Menu with Prices – 1308 W Dayton St room 178, Madison

The only place to get a salad at Union South. They also have a pretty extensive selection of sandwiches if that is more your thing. I’ve only ever ordered the salads there, but I’ve definitely been tempted to try some of the sandwiches, in particular the banh mi sandwich! :9 Each salad comes with a Batch Bakehouse roll, which is pretty sweet! Actually, the partnership itself with Batch Bakehouse is pretty freaking awesome. You also have the option of adding chicken to any of the salads for an additional $2. TOTALLY worth it, if you ask me. For $2, you get a full chicken breast sliced over your salad instead of just a couple of strips. Tip: I’ve noticed that you get more bang for your buck if you order ‘for here’ instead of ‘to go’, which probably has something to do with the size of the plate (huge! and without a lid!) versus the size of the take-out container (smaller! with a lid!). So, if you are extra hungry and have some extra time, I’d suggest you ordering your salad (with added chicken) ‘for here’! ?

Market 48 Liquors – Menu with Prices – 6041 W 160th St, Overland Park

The best thing this store has going for it compared to the other local liquor stores on 151st is the new factor. It might be clean and fairly bright with immaculately stocked shelves but it severely lacks in wine selection. There are a number of liquor choices (maybe too many bourbon options by percentage) and the back two walls to the left and rear of the store are all cold beers with a great selection of individual choices. This place is next to Costentino’s, a fairly nice and somewhat higher end grocery store with pricey choices. However, when it comes to wine whoever is stocking the store next door should be fired. The average price for Pinot Noir is $15 (if lucky) and even their ‘higher end’ options only start at $30. There are some very questionable labels and overall the wine varieties are pretty limited. The section for cheap wine is large, and I think they missed the price point for this neighborhood. If you want some decent wine in the area, skip this place and head down the street to Baston Stanley on 151st and Antioch. They will even offer you a deal after purchasing a number of bottles and have deals during the week. But best of all, they actually have a great selection that far beats the exterior and interior look of this store.

Berry Salads – Menu with Prices – 5870 E Broadway Blvd #162, Tucson

I didn’t like this fast food salad restaurant. I ordered a “small” salad because I didn’t really know what to do. Half the menu (maybe more) is dedicated to the “small” salad. The “small” salad is an awkward large size. It was served in an industrial size steel mixing bowl with a plastic fork. It is odd to eat out of such a large bowl. It felt like eating over a sink, not comfortable. The salad itself wasn’t the best. Ordering the salad, you get a choice of one “protein” it seemed to be just a couple of different chicken options and some strange looking quinoa. It was hard to hear the women working behind the glass. I had to ask her to repeat herself, then I just gave up. Nothing is labeled so you just have to listen to your salad maker. I chose the chicken salad. I wouldn’t order it again. Then I chose a cheese and only four toppings. The dressing options seemed quite creamy. I chose balsamic but it was still super emulsified. Ordering a “small” salad is like being at a salad bar but with someone else making your salad for you. For this experience it costs over $9, when the tax is added. If you are in the mood for a custom salad I would recommend the build-your-own pizza place just up the road. Their salad option is tastier, less expensive, and they don’t limit your toppings.

3D’S Legacy Salad Bar & Grill – Menu with Prices – 445 Morris Park Ave, The Bronx

Juice/Salad bars are hard to come by in the Bronx so whenever I find one it’s like an oasis in a dessert. 3D’s is in a scarce area too so it was great that it opened recently. It’s a take out place that also serves full breakfast and sandwiches. It’s takeout only so there’s no seating. Smoothies are reasonably priced and the salads are a flat price for all toppings. Solid fare and good service although theres one counter person and another in the grill/deli. A small operation that has a pretty good menu. Ive had tilapia on a hero and the salad and they get the thumbs up. The salad bar could have more toppings but it’s great that you pay one rate for all. This is s great option in the area for quality and healthy food

Shawarma House – Menu with Prices – 12531 Harbor Blvd, Garden Grove

The food isn’t awful. The salad was fresh, the beef Shawarma has a nice taste and my favorite is the garlic sauce. The meat was not nearly tender or flavorful enough and especially for the price. I usually come in for a salad since I am trying to avoid consuming too many carbs. I still want my protein. For $11, and it’s 90% salad and 10% meat. For $11 I’d expect to have more protein. I have gotten the sandwich for $9 and they put more meat in that. Which I don’t understand…. but I only come back because it’s close to my house and the only Mediterranean spot next to me. So I settle for the convenience. I would’ve probably been giving this place more of a 3 star rating except service sucks and everybody looks miserable while doing their job , on top of being so shiest with my protein ! But I will say their garlic sauce is amazing

Salads 2 Go Market – Menu with Prices – 2270 Pio Nono Ave, Macon

I ordered a taco salad and seafood salad which I ordered a taco salad 2 weeks ago. The first time I ordered the taco salad I was given a large taco salad with the meat in 2 cups. Today I paid $30.00 for my order and my taco salad was small which is considered a large and one cup of meat. I asked why is the taco salad different from what I bought 2 weeks ago and I was told it was a mistake and someone new was helping. I only seen the same people that was working their when I first entered the place business. The large taco salad was not full like I first bought it. I spend big bucks on take out but if the food and service make a mistakes donâ??t make it right, I start back taking my big bucks to River Crossing. Salad to go better ask small restaurant near by. I complain or leave unhappy no more of my money for you. Salads to Go the customer always right when you make a mistake make it right.

Yummy Poke Pensacola, FL – Menu with Prices – 5046 Bayou Blvd, Pensacola

Order: Build your own poke bowl -Base: Sushi Rice -Protein: Spicy salmon (raw) and Ahi (raw) -Sides/Mix ins: spicy imitation crab, edamame, seaweed salad -Sauce: spicy lime ponzu and spicy mayo -Topping: fish eggs -Crunch: shredded nori Average price for a poke bowl (~$11 starting price) I had only the 2 scoop protein bowl and it was more than enough for myself! They don’t skimp on any items so it is very worth the price. (They put so much imitation crab, it was as much as another scoop of protein!). The fish was fresh and not “fishy” tasting. Only con I would say to the bowl I made is that the spicy salmon and spicy imitation crab were already very saucy, so when i added in spicy mayo it made my bowl TOO saucy. I would say either omit spicy mayo if you get any “spicy” proteins or to tell them to do a light drizzle. Overall, I would definitely go there again!

Souplantation – Menu with Prices – 1901 W Malvern Ave, Fullerton

Souplantation is Souplantation. What I mean is if you want soup and salad, Souplantation is a good option. Positives: The line is never long at this location and there’s never a wait for tables. The salads are all fresh and soups are what you’d expect. They seem to have started to include some protein salads like oriental chicken salad. My husband and I always enjoy the clam chowder and sweet potato yams. I always enjoy their cornbread and pizza. Their soft serve never disappoints. Negatives: our table wasn’t bussed even once before we were done with our meal. They used to have freshly baked chocolate cookies at the dessert bar, but I haven’t seen it for awhile. Tip: if you check in, you get 15% discount without purchase of a drink (with the coupons, you need to always purchase a drink for the discount)

SoFresh Lakewood Ranch – Menu with Prices – 11569 FL-70 #106, Bradenton

I was very excited to see a new food offering in this area with vegan options. Sadly, while I wanted this to blow me away, I probably won’t be back. Pros: items are made to order and fresh, tofu is offered as a protein, if there’s an issue the staff are eager to make it right and very willing to accommodate special requests. I also like that they use bowls and silverware that aren’t disposable to minimize waste. Cons: As soon as you walk in you’re hit with a strong grill, greasy, almost fast food smell. I assume this is from cooked to order proteins but little ventilation. If you’re vegan, beware as the proteins are all cooked on the same grill top. There is definitely cross contamination between vegan items and non vegan items. Price: we got a bowl with a quinoa/rice blend, a few veggies, and tofu that was simple seared even though the menu said it had some sort of marinade and flavoring. (It didn’t). This bowl cost $11.50. Frankly that’s steep for a fast casual type of restaurant. The bowls are priced without protein so you’re charged extra depending on the protein.

STONEFIRE Grill – Menu with Prices – 10680 Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga

Just left and the girls that helped me were incredibly rude. First I ordered a Caesar salad with my dinner order and they called to ask what type of protein I wanted. I didn’t order any protein on it but when I got there the girl that helped me said “ok so you didn’t indicate which protein you wanted on your salad because it says here on the receipt that you DID want extra meat on the salad so you wanted it. ” I don’t know why anyone would order a Caesar salad with “extra meat” but it said it on the receipt for some reason so I told her to put chicken on it. She responded “ok they’re going to make it right now.” Cool, whatever. The second girl brought the rest of my order up and said “oh they took the ticket attached so I can’t check it but it looks like we have…” then proceeds to look at the food in the bag and do her best guess as to what it “looks like.” Another associate comes by with the first girl and they review the receipt on the computer and come to find out that I didn’t order “extra meat” on my Caesar salad. The first girl then comes up and says “oh sorry I don’t know what happened that added the extra meat. ” so she gave me my order and before I walk away I ask for the receipt that was attached and the second girl goes “well they email you your receipt so you should have it.” The reason I asked is because nobody checked my order according to my receipt to make sure I got everything; I didn’t trust the second girl’s guessing game. I then replied “well I usually get it with my order” because I actually do and the second girl responds “well I don’t know why you would need it because they email it to you.” I told her “I wanted it to check my order since you didn’t and they usually do give it to me but whatever.” I don’t know what’s up with the attitude from the staff and the “extra meat” at this place but I really can’t stand poor customer service. Its not that hard to give someone a piece of paper that you’re likely not going to use. They’re usually pretty good at checking my order with the receipt but today they decided giving me attitude and guessing what I might’ve ordered would suffice.

Poke Sushi bowl – Menu with Prices – 1625 Carl D. Silver Pkwy, Fredericksburg

Decent poke in a town with limited food options, Poke Sushi Bowl was a nice break from the usual. We stopped by for a late lunch to pick up something healthy and quick. They mix the salad base and protein and sauce together before putting it in the bowl so the sauce is evenly applied to all the components, very helpful. I was surprised to see that they offer grilled eel as a protein, not one I’ve seen anywhere else. I selected shrimp and was underwhelmed since it has a slight ‘fishy’ scent to it indicating that it was not very fresh. The tuna was quite fresh, so I assume the shrimp was an odd case here. Lots of topping can be added, and since it’s unlimited you can get multiple scoops of the edamame (like I did). The price was comparable to what I pay in Los Angeles, where food is more expensive in the whole, but I can understand paying a slight premium over Fredericksburg price for fresh fish. I could see myself dining here frequently if I lived in the area, probably popular among the college kids. And if you Check In on Yelp then you can get a free miso dip or mochi. I assume the green tea mochi was good, my partner did not let me have any of it.
