I want to give this place ZERO stars! We have used The Place party room since wayyyyyy before it became The Place. In recent years they have improved in appearance but declined in customer service. My niece’s baby shower was this past Sunday, October 1st. My sister paid her deposit well over a month ago and a contract was signed for the room which can accommodate roughly 130 people. Imagine my sister’s surprise when she walks in to The Place the morning of my niece’s baby shower to decorate and sees that ONE THIRD of the room has been taken over by a STAGE!!! A stage with band equipment that cannot be removed because “it’s worth over $60,000”. And to make matters worse, one quarter of the space that was left was blocked off as a storage area!!! We were expecting at least one hundred people!!!! We had a dj to accommodate, food, a cake table, drinks etc! How on earth were we going to do all of that in this tiny space?!?! I suggested that my sister speak to the owner as I felt he should reduce the price because she was deceived. They never informed her of the reduction of space. She found out the day of! Her option to cancel or relocate was taken away at that point. Upon speaking to him, she was informed that the Place had been sold and that was what the new owner wanted!! Seriously?!!! His idea of a solution?!? Reduce the price by $50!!! $50?!! It’s bad enough that they charge $150 per hour PLUS a service fee for somebody to “babysit” your party and do not give you anything other than ice. (Other places in the neighborhood include soda and the option for a keg or use of their full clean kitchen) My sister had no choice but to accept it as the party was only 2 hours away. All the money that we paid out for the party would’ve been lost. It was hot and obscenely crowded. People were literally sitting on top of each other or sitting outside simply because everyone was unable to fit comfortably! People, if you’re looking for a party room…..RUN AWAY from this shithole. The “owner” sucks, his staff sucks (except for the gentleman who cleans) and their bathrooms (with one working stall) smell and look horrible! WE WILL NEVER USE THE PLACE FOR A PARTY AGAIN! And I will be sure to tell all of my friends to avoid this place too!!!

The Purple Building – at 5 Points – Menu with Prices – 107 N 11th St, Nashville

The East Side Performing Artist’s Co-op is a cool vibey rehearsal space located at the Five Points in East Nashville. This room is really a great space. The room is really large, it is about a 28 ft x 50 ft space, with a 20 ft x 20 ft stage area. The room is painted all different colors, which you would think would be distracting but it actually works for the room, and acts as fuel for your brain by making it more active. The stage is framed by big drapes around the back in golds and greens. These are all good feng shui colors and textures for a creative space. That is probably why I like the space so much, everything about seems to work really well to create a great feeling within the space. The other great thing about this room that sets it apart from a lot of other rehearsal spaces in town, is that it isn’t built like a bomb shelter, this room has real windows to the outside world! You can see daylight, or whatever weather might be happening outside. They have a full stage PA, it is 3000 watts of power with a full sound board for running up to 24 channels. It is a great place to really hone in your on stage sound. The rates for the room vary depending on what kind of event or rehearsal you want to have. In general though, the rate is around $20-$25 an hour, sometimes more sometimes less. Call and ask for Mo Sweeney.

The Cake Room Lafayette – Menu with Prices – 104 E Kaliste Saloom Rd, Lafayette

Unprofessional – I paid for a cake in full (a little over $1,000). Due to unforeseen circumstances the event was canceled 2 1/2 months before. I informed the owner the event was canceled and now she refuses to refund the money. The agreement states a refund is given if the owner is informed of the cancellation.

Pinnacle Bank Arena – Menu with Prices – 400 Pinnacle Arena Dr, Lincoln

This arena SUCKS for concerts. Maybe its better for sports but give me a break ! Its awful ! Talk about taking all the fun out of a concert experience! A good portion of the people that work concessions yhere are too old and take forever and have no idea how to pour a beer… You have to show your ticket at the door and then have to show your ticket anytime you want to exit a room and enter back into a room even to go to the bathroom… And for upwards to 200 plus dollars! Maybe a frickin stamp on your hand for the sections… IDK… Maybe… and if the band decides have sitting on the ground floor, shame on them too if they consider themselves a rock band…But this is the band’s option… Then you get to move every time somebody wants back into the row youre in just like you’re in the movie theater but with a lot less space! Somebody spills a beer and they’re getting on the radio for a mop boy…in the middle of a “rock” “concert”…People here in Lincoln are so okay with this and spend way too much money to go to this sad excuse for an arena. And they defend the beer mopping by whining “it’s a liability”…Come on ! Have any fools here been to a REAL concert ?! Thank you Pinnacle Bank Arena and all these people that support it for contributing in the true decadence of rock shows ! I’ve been to Key Arena-Seattle, Sprint Center-KC, Buffalo Chip-Sturgis SD, Bluebird Theater-Denver, Fillmore-Denver, Pershing, and even The Bourbon and I would take ANY of these venues over PBA ALWAYS. The Grove can kick it with PBA because they suck now too. If you like being corralled around like bovine and stared down by security for breathing crooked than this would be a great place for you to go watch your Bieber concert

Area 4 Restaurant Menu with Prices 3226 Greenbriar Pkwy SW, Atlanta

I went on a Friday night to watch Game 4 of the NBA finals. We arrived around 845p and game tip-off was scheduled for 9p. When we arrived, we walked right in. There wasn’t much happening inside so we grabbed a table. After discussing with the waitress, we determined that we were going to order a bottle of Dusse and were moved to a section of sorts. It was a comfortable sofa area to the left of the stage and in front of a couple projector style screens. We were informed that there were no Dusse bottles in the restaurant and that they were going to the store to get them and it wouldn’t be long. For food, we ordered blackened fish and jumbo shrimp with fries. The blackened fish was PHENOMENAL. I almost forgot we didn’t have our drinks because I savored every bite. Our waitress was nice and was training another young lady. They made sure to come around and check on often and accommodate our many requests. During the first two quarters and half time, a DJ was playing songs for crowds of all ages. He did a decent job of switching between old and new school. The game got close so in the middle they switched to playing tv audio and music during commercial breaks. Well into the third quarter, we had been informed 3 times that no one had gone to the liquor store to get the bottles and offered other bottles that we declined. A manager sent our table two rounds of free shots (Dusse and lime). After the game ended, a new DJ came on and it was a PARTY. Several birthday sections had filled and a 60th party left. The music was ON POINT. Around midnight, we finally got our bottle of Dusse and continued the night. The night was really fun and the crowd dwindled around 1:30a. We were informed by our waitress that Area 4 should be open 24 hours but is only currently open until 6am. Nevertheless it’s a good time. I’m looking forward to coming back next time I’m in town.

Global Tea Mart – Menu with Prices – 4991 S Alma School Rd #5, Chandler

Beautiful venue for a bridal shower! My sister was getting married and wanted to have a tea party. After doing a lot of research, I found Global Tea Market. I stopped in first to ask a couple questions where I met the owner, Diane, who showed me the tea room and was very accommodating to my requests. We booked the room a couple months in advance and paid for each guest about a week before the shower. Diane and her team made the process very easy! She made sure everything was set up and all the tea and food was ready for when the guests arrived. I brought some props and games for the shower and she allowed me to move the tables around to fit everything. She also set up a kid’s table for the little girls who were attending. The tea was fresh and the cakes were absolutely delicious! They paired up with the bakery close by and we were served warm quiche! We spent around 3 hours there and they even helped with clean up! Diane was amazing and I could not recommend this place more! They are friendly, accommodating, and very professional! It’s definitely worth the price for all the extra help they provide!

DAE GEE KOREAN BBQ Menu with Prices 1910 S Havana St Unit 1, Aurora

What can I say about Dae Gee? I can immediately say that the food was ok. If you’ve never been to a Korean BBQ, this is the commercialized, main stream attempt at Korean BBQ. We stopped in with a few friends from work. Two of the people didn’t prefer Korean food, but went along to be good sports. When we ordered, those two wanted simple dishes from the menu while the other two wanted to do the buffet option and wanted to grill their own meat. The server informed the table that the whole table has to order the buffet if one person does. Although I understand the premise that they can’t tell if people share, it was an interesting way to jack up the price of the visit for the two none Korean food interested people in our party. One person in our group literally paid $20 and ate three little pieces of chicken and a small portion of house salad. Way too much money for way too little food. In short, the food is decent, the atmosphere is fun, but the prices and rules are not always favorable.

The Blue Octopus – Menu with Prices – 3820 N 27th St, Tacoma

Hosted my sister’s bachelorette event here this past Saturday. We ended up doing a private paint party which allowed us to paint in the upstairs space and included one drink each. I confirmed it all with Alek a couple months ahead and everything was good to go! Between when I booked the event and the event itself, one of the girls cancelled so I emailed Alek to see if he could issue a refund/ credit for the empty seat as I had already paid for the entire group. He said no problem and gave us a credit that he said we could apply to our bar tab. On the day of, we arrived a tad late because of traffic and were directed to check in at the bar once we arrived. That’s when the women behind the counter started to tell me that I actually hadn’t paid for everyone (even though I had) and that I needed to. I explained the situation and that Alek and I had already discussed this and there should actually be a credit to me and she straight up didn’t believe me so I had t pull out my phone and show her the emails. Not a good start to our event and she seemed annoyed that we were there ready to have fun for a private party. We didn’t let this kill our fun and went right into the evening. We all got to choose our own painting and went for it with help from our paint instructor. We ended up ordering a few bottles of champagne, which was great, but they had a limited selection of the brand I was trying to get. Out of 3 different options for the same brand of champagne, they only had 2 bottles total in stock which kinda sucked. We went with the flow but it was still kinda annoying. Overall it was good since I was in good company and we spent a couple hundred dollars there on drinks alone so I guess I was expecting a little better service. The space itself was really fun and maybe we just caught people/ the place on a busy night. I would definitely want to try again though since I love the concept and a champagne bar.

Subway Restaurants – Menu with Prices – Baker Crossing, 665 Newtown Rd #105, Virginia Beach

This is the worst subway in VA! I was physically assaulted by an employee here. I contacted the cooperate just to be informed that this is owned by a franchise owner an they could contact the owner but could not do anything about the employee. Turns out the owner is out of the county. Do you think she was fired? No, she still works there. The owner doesn’t care about customers. All the works at this store are rude and nasty to the customers. Beware of the business you support. When you give your money to this franchise owned companies, it is not the same company you see on t.v. franchise are allowed to be run how ever they want as long as they pay to use the name. You are not granted the same service from each. You put you and your family at risk going to these companies. I wonder how much they paid there family members to give them good reviews? They can’t have my money and I hope you join me. Thank you

ABC East Lanes – Menu with Prices – 1001 Eisenhower Blvd, Harrisburg

The lanes of this location are nice and the bar is very convenient. I reserved 3 lanes for a birthday party. I put down a deposit for $10 a lane. I called a few days before my event to make sure everything was good but they told me that they didn’t have my in the system but it should be fine. This was not what I wanted to hear while planning a party. I did call back the day of to make sure we were good and they said everything went through and we should be ready to go at 10pm for Rock and Bowl. We arrived a little early and they were willing to accommodate us and let us bowl earlier. I wished I knew this was an option. I would’ve showed up earlier and probably would’ve had more people attend. I used 2 Groupons and had no issues. The employees were very nice. I told them that some people decided not to come and if I could get a refund for 1 lane since we only needed 2. They said that was no problem. I had to ask them to refund my reservations since I used 2 Groupons and there was no need to discount our cost. I feel like this was something they should’ve been aware of. I asked if they needed my credit card to put the money back and they said no that they would give me cash. I guess this place just handles things willy nilly but that was okay with me. The pizza we ordered came out hot and they were willing to give large cups of water. I did appreciate that. I do like this location and will probably be back again. It was just a little strange to me how they handled things.

The Fishing Hole Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 15 Brent Ln, Pensacola

I’m torn here. The food is good, bisque is mediocre and my pasta rather flavorless, but the sandwiches and fish tacos and cheese grits are really good. I was informed that the waitresses do not receive the tips you give despite only being paid just a bit above minimum wage. Usually when this is done, waitresses are paid a larger sum do tips aren’t needed. I don’t care how you feel about that, either way: management needs to inform patrons of this to make their own decision. There is still a tip line on the bill. Meaning when you tip, you’re just giving more money for your food for no reason to a greedy owner. No thanks!

Warehouse 535 – Menu with Prices – 535 Garfield St, Lafayette

My buddy came into a few tickets for a Music Festival Fund Raiser (?¿) Don’t quote me on that but I swear that’s what they told me the event was that evening. Alas, I digress.. The place is constructed of exclusively wood, exposed brick & old sheet metal. It had an immediate charm about it for sure and overall would be a great place for an event. We parked in the large lot on the same plot as the building. My first reaction to the place was how cool and aesthetically pleasing it is – especially for the little neighborhood it’s in:/ They’ve got a relatively large, healthy lawn in the back with the the little bulb lights that everybody likes. There was also a stage out back but it wasn’t being used when I was there. From the parking lot you take a few steps up to the floor level of the wrap around porch. As you actually enter the building you enter into the smaller of the two main chambers. There will be a bar to your immediate right and the larger, stage room to our left. Naturally there was a band playing in the larger, banquet style room. As mentioned it had a stage on the far end and also a bar with plenty of open space for seating/dancing/tom-foolery. On a quick side note, the bar had a quite expansive and modestly priced assortment of your typical offerings. I will say the bartender I had knew nothing about the local beer much less helpful wine and spirit suggestions – he was friendly though ? Another quick side note, the caterer, The Habana Club, was EXCELLENT and offered extremely delicious and authentic Cuban fare. DEFINTELY check them up if you’re in the area and into that sort of thing. TL;DR Definitely worth using for a private party or trying to get into the next local event they’re hosting. Until next time.. CHEERS !!!

Brass Ring Brewing – Menu with Prices – 2404 Eastern Ave SE, Grand Rapids

We called Brass Ring Brewing to ask if they could accommodate a party of 10. The man on the phone introduced himself as Chris, the owner, and stated, “we would love to have your party of 10 come here.” So, after receiving a warm welcome on the phone, we proceeded to the Brass Ring. We were not disappointed. While the menu is small, it had enough of a variety to fit our needs, including a kids menu. I had the pulled chicken BBQ that was delicious. The rest of my party was also very pleased with the food and drinks. I had the Irish Stout, a smooth chocolatey, coffee stout that was quite tasty. We had great service and Chris, the owner, made a point of coming over and giving us a personal welcome to the Brass Ring. The next time I go to Grand Rapids this brewery will be on my list of places to visit.
