This is a basic, no-frills bar with limited food options and no table service (you’ve got to order at the bar). Pluses are the location, which is right in downtown Everett across from Angel of the Winds Arena (perfect for before/after a Silvertips game), and the beer selection. Independent has one of the best, most varied beer selections in the city. You can find standard fares as well as random beers from around the country. It’s a favorite bar of hipsters and I’ve seen more than one dog inside (which is annoying and unfortunate). They’ve got a lot of board games to help pass the time with friends and several places will deliver food to the bar, so you won’t go hungry if you don’t want to. Not bad, but not great. It’s good as a jumping-off point or as a place to relax with a unique beer or two. There isn’t much going on to hold your attention aside from conversation and board games, so it’s either the perfect or worst place for a date, depending on how much you like to talk.

f/Stop Fitzgerald’s Public House – Menu with Prices – 335 Grove St NE, Salem

Sometimes you stumble upon a place that is just perfect. This simple, cozy, beer house was the best place for a date night or a night out with friends. I went here on a first date and I have to say this place was the perfect wingman! Small but perfect beer menu and the cozy, hipster atmosphere was perfect for an intimate conversation. I love that you can get comfortable in the living room or play board games while sitting close on one of the couches. If the weather is nice you can also step outside onto their clean and comfortable patio for a conversation under the stars. A unique, amazing bar that I’d recommend to anyone visiting the Salem area or passing through. One of the coolest places I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting and I’d highly recommend to anyone who loves beer and great conversation!

Slice and Dice Pizzeria Menu with Prices 5720 McMahon Blvd NW suite b, Albuquerque

I was introduced to Slice and Dice by way of a gift card from my Mom. I’ll be honest, my first thought was: board games? … Really? … Hard pass. But my conception of board games was stuck in what I played in the 80’s as a kid. Your monopoly games that last 6 hours… your battleships, your risks etc… and there’s nothing wrong with those games per se, and Slice and Dice has them if that’s what your into, but I felt like there was nothing in that form of entertainment I hadn’t seen a million times before. What I hadn’t appreciated however is the board game world has had a huge renaissance over the last decade or so. Cut to several months after getting the gift card, I finally go with some family to Slice and Dice and was immediately greeted by super friendly staff who quickly and kindly educated us about all the amazing games I had been ignoring all these years. I’m so glad they did because I’m now hooked on an awesome new activity with family that doesn’t involve all of us staring at screens. The staff will teach you a game if you need help and are quite knowledgeable. I’ve now been many times and taken several family and also expanded my personal board game collection from their great selection on site. Food-wise I’m partial to their sandwiches which are quite tasty vs the pizza which while not bad, is not my favorite. Still I can whole-heartedly and enthusiastically endorse taking your friends and family here as I’ve never had a bad experience.

The Basement Board Game Cafe – Menu with Prices – 6109 Ridge Ave, Philadelphia

I got a group of friends together to check this place out one Saturday night. We had a blast! The amount of board games alone is superior but the customer service of the owners is what makes this place special. The owner continuously checked in to make sure we were OK and even offered to teach us how to play games that we were interested in. The food is good snack food but that’s not why we came here. If you are planning a game night and want to eat before you come or eat after either way you know you won’t starve. Added to all of this, the place is a BYOB. Board Games, Booze, Battlestar Galactica! Couldn’t have had more fun! Yup, I’ll be back!

Boneshire Brew Works – Menu with Prices – 7462 Derry St, Harrisburg

I am giving this place five stars because Boneshire proves that if you make a good product people you don’t need all bells and whistles. With that being said- I can’t really can’t give an honest review of the beer because I am not huge into beer. I wouldn’t know the difference between a pilsner or pale ale (those are beer things, right?). The guy I am seeing loves beer so I have been to more breweries around the Harrisburg area in the past 7 months then I ever have in my life. Boneshire is his favorite *note to self, gift cards here would be a great gift for him* We went together for the first on a Friday night. All the reviews about the location are true. It is in weather worn strip mall & doesn’t look like much from the outside. Inside is a “barebones” industrial style renovation.. is renovation the right word, idk. But you have the brick walls, uncovered ceiling, etc. The staff was nice and accommodating. I never know to order when it comes to beer so I rely on help from everyone around me. Lol. I was able to try a few and pick which I liked the best. Don’t ask me what it was. They have a bunch of games to play but the games need a little TCL. New batteries, some of missing pieces, etc. I know if anyone reading this has kids they are rolling their eyes at that statement; TCL for board games. Overall I would go back if I was with someone who liked beer.

GameHäus Café – Menu with Prices – 1800 S Brand Blvd #107, Glendale

Last time I was here was during my high school days, and here I go about 8 years later and this store still stands. GameHaus is one of the most unique places I’ve been to. Rarely, if ever, do I find a spot where I can have the option of playing a million board games with my friends while also grabbing a bite. This spot is a gem and I’m glad it’s stood the test of time. Entering this store on a Tuesday night, there is a $5 cover charge per person in order to go and play. After that, you are free to roam and get any game you’d like. My friends and I played The Game of Life and Scrabble. The Game of Life became a little too real for us, especially since my friends and I are at the point where we’re making big career choices. If you’re hungry inside, unfortunately you can’t bring outside food or drinks, but they do sell a good variety! They have sandwiches, salads, desserts, coffee, teas, and even beer and wine. The food ranges from $10-$14, while the drinks were about $6. The staff is very friendly! We came 2 hours before closing and they went around to every table making sure we didn’t need anything more before last call. This store doesn’t have a private parking lot. There is a neighborhood nearby with free street parking, just make sure you read the signs. Definitely come by! The only thing I wished was to have come in with an idea of what to play and how to play it. We literally came in with no game plan so we were quite overwhelmed with our options. But that’s not a bad problem to have if you have a lot of time to kill.

Vector Bar & Arcade – Menu with Prices – 629 Cleveland St, Clearwater

My friends and I had a good time there. The bartender was really nice and my friends liked their selection of beer. I only gave it four stars because the video games to me were kind of lacking. I am an older person who was hoping to see more the 80’s popular games, but the ones they had I don’t think were that popular at all. I could be wrong though. I know I didn’t play any of them when I was growing up. They did have one table that had a lot of the old school games I played. But only one table. I did like their variety of pinball games, so I mostly played those. I would certainly go back again though.

Wax Wings Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 3480 Gull Rd, Kalamazoo

8/16/19 Honestly, I am not going to lie, I have never heard of this place until we typed Breweries in Yelp and found this place and it was not that far from us. We decided to check it out. We tried 4 beers (half of the beer pours) and got food. We both got burger baskets. The four beers we tried were interesting but overall, they were good. The food had a select menu. Online I am pretty sure most of the reviews said they offered food, or they didn’t. I am not sure, but they had food and were making it outside under a tent. Maybe they don’t have a kitchen yet and working on it. Either way, it was good. Atmosphere: It was nice on the inside. I loved how spacious it was and lots of different types of seating. High types, bench, and big tables for large parties and booths. There are board games and card games for people to play. We played a couple of games. You would get a number when you ordered, and they would deliver the food to you. You pay at the counter, which is good and bad. Good because you don’t have to wait until the end and can pay as you order but bad because you are paying and tipping before the service, which is putting 100% trust in the business that you will get the best service and food ahead of time. As a person who worked in the food and beverage industry for a decade, I am fine with that, but I could see other people thinking that it was weird. Cost: About $2 to $4 per half of the beer pour. It’s half the price for a half pour. So not terribly price. Overall: I give this place 4 stars. I will be back to try more beers and food.

Wynwood Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 565 NW 24th St, Miami

New favorite spot! Beer here is SO good OMG, where has this place been all my life?! And what’s crazy is I’ve passed bY it before but it wasn’t until a friend invited me to hear him DJ that I actually went in and stayed for a minute playing their games, listening to the music, enjoying their amazing beer and just catching a vibe. People def should come here, it’s in wynwood close to everything, it’s a clean spacious place with their brewery behind their bar, lots of seating available and an outside area with food trucks. I love how they have live music and provide a bunch of board games. It was so much fun to just hang out with friends, catch up over an incredibly delicious beer and get a bit competitive over a good game of “sorry” or Uno. So, other than the great location and space, other than the music and games that help create such a fun & chill environment, the beer is número uno in Miami. They have your typical beers, your local miami beers (la rubia etc), and THEIR amazing beers! My fav was father Francisco, Love their menu how they give you a description of the beer & alcohol content, and appreciated the employees talking to us about their menu and even letting us taste the beer before ordering it- that was super nice! Love love love this place, can’t wait to go back!

Blue Bridge Games – Menu with Prices – 954 Fulton St E, Grand Rapids

I stopped in to Blue Bridge Games last week for the first time to get an idea what games they had and find out a little more about their memberships, rentals, and gaming space. The Blue Bridge folks were super nice! They gave me a tour of the entire store and gaming space and patiently explained how the memberships, rentals, special orders and special events work. We live in the neighborhood and like to play board games, so I’m excited to have a resource nearby where we can find out about new games that will be fun for our family, and possibly try some out before investing in them. They had both the games I was most interested in, and gave me great information about both and suggested several additional games we might want to try. The gaming space looked cozy like a bookstore, seemed like a good option for snow days and evenings when we want to get out of the house and have some fun, a good alternative to the movies. Would be a great place to get a couple tables of friends together for games. I’m pulling for this new business in the East Fulton neighborhood, and recommend board game enthusiasts and families who are looking for “off-screen” activities check it out!

Confluence Gaming Cafe – Menu with Prices – Midway Town Center, 11141 Old U.S. Hwy 52 Suite 6, Winston-Salem

I love to come buy coffee before work in the morning and return on my breaks to buy a soda, maybe a snack such as chips or items from the catering company next door like protein bars and cookies and more, and play retro video games on the NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, PlayStation, Dreamcast, GameCube, etc. I hear an Atari, my first game console, will be set out soon. Always love chatting with the staff and posting adverts on their bulletin board. And if I can ever get my wife or friends to come out, I’d love to take advantage of the vast array of board games too! Also, the church in the storefront a couple doors down is a Pokemon Go game PokeStop for anyone interested.

The Loft Board Game Lounge – Menu with Prices – 14 Waller St, Ottawa

Went last night with a group of 5 people. There is a 6$ cover to play board games all night which is reasonable. It would be nice if you ordered food then that wouldn’t apply. But it was cool being able to play all sorts of different board games all night. The food/drinks however were an issue for us. Food was lacking for the price. Hamburger was dry. The mac and cheese had WAY too much pepper in it. The mac and cheese is also written as a MAIN and it says MAINS come with french fries but they never came so we asked the waitress and she said oh no the Mac and Cheese is not actually included as a main even though it’s in the same row as all other mains. Had we known that we wouldn’t have gotten the Mac and Cheese and would have gone for something that did have the french fries come with it. Should be clearer in the menu. The beer is going to cost you at least 6.50 and + which is a little steep considering but that’s the price of downtown beer not on a special day of the week. All and all we had fun but some parts left us wanting more for what we had to fork over to play.

St. Florian Parish – Menu with Prices – 1210 S 45th St, Milwaukee

We go to the Card Socials here, yet to try the fish fry. So YMMV. But the spread of six or more sausages, kraut, potatoes and hot potato salad, rolls, veg, fried chicken, and dessert is unmatched in Brewtown. It’s the pinnacle of a comfort food experience. For $12 you get this, all you can drink MGD and Lite beer, canned regular and diet soda, water, and popcorn with Brewers yeast. You also get an entry into a beer raffle. They meet in the basement now, having moved from the gym upstairs. The space is great, the round tables work well for card games and strategy board gaming. We do both. There are 50/50 auctions and table auctions also, with all proceeds going to the church and the high school that meet here in the complex. It’s one of the best, low-key places to spend a Friday night monthly. It’s a must visit for my wife and friends.
