Don’t even not: Hyppo is here for you and your various popsicle needs. Your unlikely dissatisfaction stems only from choosing the wrong pop which actually can’t happen. Not to say there aren’t tiers of greatness. You’ve got your standard flavors for those looking for an uncomplicated engagement, such as strawberry, watermelon, peach and various other fruit classics. (Btw, these vegan). They’ve got your dessert pop classics, too: key lime, chocolate pnut butt, orange cream, espresso (these got the dairy, for yous who need be snackin for some ice cream fix). But then there’s the special pops that elevate Hyppo. I first fell in love with pineapple cilantro. Dairy free with a transparent 5-bit recipe, this sweet is emblematic of their greatest treats. Interesting flavor combos that employ herbs, spices and other fun ingredients to get involved in the treat process in ways you probably haven’t considered. Need some more examps? How bout plum mint? Watermelon hibiscus? Blackberry can come with clove or goat cheese (both are STUPID good). Datil pepper plum is another favorite, followed by black pepper cantaloupe. I have w/ no doubt in my mind enjoyed 30+ pops across Florida, relatively guilt-free, too! Now it’s your turn, go support your pops.

Old Town Spice Shop – Menu with Prices – 130 S College Ave A, Fort Collins

So happy that we wandered into this adorable little spice shop! We were greeted by a super helpful clerk, who directed us to a ton of different spices we would have never considered before. This place has all the classics you would expect like dried herbs and seasonings, but also fun stuff like hops or bacon salt, and many more you wouldn’t be able to find in a grocery store. You can tell their spices, salts, extracts and flavorings are super high quality. I also love how they have different quantities, so you can sample a small batch first. Some for as low as $1.50! Not only did the girl working point us in the right direction, but also told us what to use the spices on, like salting the rim of your glass or seasoning your steak! Then when she found out it was our first time in downtown she recommended a couple local places for us to check out! Very sweet!

Bunny Tunes Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 500 Culebra Rd, San Antonio

Imagine a throwback to your childhood— ice cream truck, playing it’s familiar song coming down the block. Will you get a bomb pop? Some sort of drumstick? Candy? Well, if you want to buy all these things and more, you should go to Bunny Tunes. This place has all the great ice cream characters from Ninja Turtle pops to a Bugs Bunny. One Saturday, we stopped in and picked up ice creams (around $1 a piece). It was a real treat! The folks who worked inside were polite. The service was fast, and no one minded that we were just buying a few ice cream pops. This place is in a warehouse district and a little off the beaten path but worth the stop.

King of Pops – Menu with Prices – 205 Cedar Lane Rd, Greenville

So delicious and refreshing! The hand crafted unique flavors (my faves: Watermelon Mojito and Key Lime Pie) are so fun to try. They have a walk up window at Swamp Rabbit Grocery, or you can find them in King of Pops carts and at businesses around town such as Lowes Foods. I took a cooler with some dry ice and purchased 25 pops for a Yelp event and they were a huge hit!

The Ice Cream Team – Menu with Prices – 480 Jessen Ln suite c, Charleston

Two very generous sponsors of a local 5K series I volunteer for hire The Ice Cream Team to come out to the run/walk. Sure, you could go to a store, purchase ice creams, transport them to your business, church, school, race, find someone to make sundaes, and clean up the mess- OR you could hire Ice Cream Team to handle that for you. Ice Cream Team has several dairy-free and vegan options, so people with those dietary needs are satisfied. The inventory is large, so even after serving hundreds, they are not out of ice cream. The truck has it all, from classics like Choco Tacos and Sno-Cones to cartoon characters for the kids. Everyone gets the ice cream they want, you and your volunteers aren’t stressed out, and there’s no mess to clean up afterwards. It’s a win-win! The owner is always on time for the runs and is extremely nice to the kids and adults, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces as soon as the truck pulls up.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams – Menu with Prices – 416 E 36th St Suite 400, Charlotte

been to a Jeni’s Scoopery? then you know it’s a great place to enjoy a frozen indulgence. Warm friendly people dishing out cool refreshing treats. It’s not a cult, barely even a way of life ? just a little delicious escapism served up with a bit of waffle cone… You want dairy free? they got dairy free, you want goat cheese? they got that too. Jeni’s does really good ice cream in a variety of interesting flavors and combinations; I like that I can triple-up on a motif: cakes, chocolates, peanut butter, berries… without double-dipping a flavor. Latey I’m digging the Rainbow BFY, it’s the best FY around! Really, it’s great treats and y’all should give it a try. This is the second store in Charlotte, it’s a little larger and better appointed than the South End location; more seating options plus other amenities but it’s NoDa and the parking would be horrible except for the deck across the way. BTW: If you get brain freeze try sipping a cup of water, it’s free…

Romeo and Cesare?s Gourmet Shoppe – Menu with Prices – 771 Orange St, New Haven

I absolutely adore Romeo and Cesare’s – and not just because everyone is so friendly! I honestly think they have some of the most delicious iced coffee in all of New Haven – and I’ve tried pretty much all the coffee shops here (Blue State, Willoughby’s, Book Trader’s, East Rock Coffee). While the exterior is not as shiny, their coffee is my go-to on most mornings – it’s strong and has nutty undertones. The coffee is self-serve, meaning you control your own ice levels and they have a wide assortment of milks (almond, soy, dairy-free, etcetc). Besides their coffee, their fruit is always really fresh. One time, I had a problem with a watermelon slice and the employee there promptly replaced the watermelon.

Velebit Gelato & Café – Menu with Prices – 716 10th Ave, New York

Affogato is my summer treat, and I had the most excellent, delicious, balanced, affogato last night at this adorable new place in the neighborhood! We’d seen it walking by, but finally the weather and the time aligned perfectly. Hubby had a small cup of mint chocolate chip gelato, while I chose stracciatella for my affogato. The owner is a chatty gentleman of international descent, Philip (perhaps Felipe or Philippe, not sure how he spells it!), who told us about his start-up process, tasting gelatos and coffees all over the City until he and his family chose what they considered best – certainly my decaf espresso and both flavors of gelato were excellent! Interestingly, Velebit (next time I go in, I’ll ask the provenance of the name of the store!) carries several non-dairy gelato/ice cream flavors as well. There are also some French pastries (some random morning, if I’m up early…). And you’ll find some giftie things (& some religious also, not my thing) to peruse and purchase. We will go in again (I like at least a weekly affogato fix in warm weather!) for the food and the conversation!

The Penguin Brothers – Menu with Prices – 2040 S 1000 E, Salt Lake City

I heard that Sugarhouse had a new dessert place that I might be able to eat at! I have to eat gluten and dairy free so it very much limits my options. Stopped by one of the days this cute spot was open and was able to order a dozen of cookies that were gluten free even though they were a day old for $5. Super good steal and they had gluten free ice cream options although I could not eat them because they were not dairy free. If you don’t have allergies I would go here for sure though, the dessert all of it looked amazing and the interior is a really good spot for photo opportunities. They have a very eclectic but vibrant decor unlike any other place I’ve gone to for coffee or any dessert in Salt Lake City. Free stickers available so you can rep the Penguin Brothers and you can’t miss the pink food truck that is parked right outside!

Bubblecup Tea Zone – Menu with Prices – 1101 Grindstone Pkwy Suite 107, Columbia

Very disappointed in the lack of knowledge the staff has. They have items labled as Non-Dairy. When I ordered my item the associate assured me no dairy products are used in making that tea. I ordered it and went about my way. Thirty minutes later while at work I begin to get an unsettling feeling in my stomach. I didn’t finish it but returned to the store and asked to see the ingredient list in their non-dairy creamer. I asked him to look for milk and Caseinate but he was hesitant. He showed me a bag of non dairy creamer used by the food section that had those two ingredients. He kept trying to tell me the tea isn’t made with that one. However, I went to the rest room area and noticed another creamer of another brand that also contained those two ingredients. Be careful and make sure you ask because it seems they are not aware what is contained in what they serve. Also, he was not all considered about me nor was he empathetic.

Sweet Charlie’s Menu with Prices 630 Crane Creek Dr #103, Augusta

I was so happy to find a dessert shop that had a dairy-free option! They have several bases for their rolled ice cream, one of which is vegan/non-dairy. The only flavor option that didn’t include chocolate or something else dairy was cinnamon toast crunch, so we tried that. I would have loved to try it in a donut sandwich, but that’s also dairy so we got it in a cup. They rolled it up and then let us choose toppings – we asked for extra cinnamon toast crunch (not on the menu but since it was part of our dessert they were happy to), strawberries, honey, and marshmallows. Marshmallows can be added plain or roasted, so we opted for roasted. It’s actually just one large marshmallow on a stick that is hand-roasted and added to the bowl, but still tasty and makes for a nice presentation. I’m not sure what the vegan base is – I can usually tell when something is almond or coconut based, since those flavors are really strong – but this just tasted like normal ice cream! I’d love to know what it was because it was amazing!

Bon Appetina’s – Menu with Prices – 5013 Pacific Hwy E #11, Fife

Guys. I literally am writing this with tears in my eyes! I recently ordered from another bakery, only to have her cancel 2 (TWO!!!) Days before an event. Frantic, I called 3 places to see if anyone could help me with 40 cake pops for my god-daughters first birthday party.. Not one could help me. My last call was to Bon Appetina’s. I should have called them first! I called asking for literally anything, if they had any left-overs..anything.. Without hesitation or the slightest sound of annoyance in his voice that this crazy lady was asking for 40 cake pops in 24 hours, he let me know that he would see what he could do. I didn’t even explain my situation to him until after peter told me he could at least ask! He called me 15 minutes later, saying he could do it, and even make some cute simple designs! HE DELIVERED THEM THE NEXT DAY. When he dropped the box off, he asked me to open them and look, because the designs he had told me about on the phone were not what we had talked about. I opened the box to these amazing cake pops! He had heard me say them theme was “baby shark”, and they created little sharks with details and FINS omg I died. These people had no idea who i was, didn’t have to care about my petty first world problem, yet they went out of their way to go above and beyond. They are just as delicious as they were adorable, they made the shark pops red velvet (so genius lol) and the water pops cookies and cream… I legit will now find a reason to order cake pops for every occasion because of this place.

La Michoacana – Menu with Prices – 3840 Broadway Ste E, Rockford

First, we don’t ever wander over to this shopping center unless to go to Marcs. It is very run down! We Stopped in to try Vinnys pizza (on a recommendation) and walked in here while we were waiting for the pizza to be cooked. We grabbed three of the Popsicles. Not your dinky grocery store Popsicles. These were made with chunks of real fruit frozen in. They have about 20 fruit flavors made with coconut water like watermelon, cantaloupe, guava, mixed fruit and 20 cream flavors like strawberry and cream, caramel, and coconut. My son got a bubblegum cream one, hubby a strawberries and cream, and I got a mixed from with chile. Yes I said chile… I asked the lady which was most popular and she said that was it. We brought them home to eat after the pizza. My son scarfed his down and won’t let anyone taste, so that means he loved it. I took one bits of mine and it had great flavor, and than the chile set it. It was HOT HOt and not something I was used to and quickly learned it was not something I liked. My husband had a few bites of his and felt bad for me and gave me his. It’s was awesome! Big slices of strawberry in a wonderful gelato type cream. I can’t wait to go back to try those mango things!!! Pops are $2 and some change. Grab a few and bring them home to freeze. You won’t be sorry!!!
