Their prices are really good & the staff is very friendly and cheerful. Just visited for the first time today & we ordered the iced caramel mocha w/ whipped cream & a plain black coffee. Both were very yummy & honestly way better tasting than Starbucks (which is where we normally go). They also gave us a treat for our dog & he loved it. 10/10 would visit again

Bodhi Leaf Coffee Traders – Menu with Prices – 428B W Katella Ave, Orange

If you’re looking for a new and authentic coffee shop to fuel your addiction, Bodhi Leaf Coffee Traders is hands down the best there is. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place after seeing it on the show The Profit with Marcus Lemonis. I wouldn’t say I’m a coffee connoisseur. I definitely don’t drink coffee black and if I’m being honest, I can’t tell when a coffee is roasted and flavored with notes of “hazelnut and caramel” or “cherry and cinnamon”. My coffee addiction began at Starbucks, like everyone else. But my coffee journey has led me to Bodhi and I’m never looking back! Starbucks coffee is full of sugars and other things to give it more flavor, but Bodhi is legitimately authentic coffee. I don’t know all the proper vernacular, but it appears that they roast and grind the beans in-house. I have tried all of their iced lattes and I love every single one. You can even mix the syrups to create your own concoction (I love vanilla and caramel together, or vanilla and cinnamon). I was recently introduced by one of the baristas to their version of the Starbucks’ caramel macchiato. Bodhi’s version of that drink is called a Caramel Twist. It’s delicious and I order it every time I come in now. I always used to notice that Starbucks would fill my cup with tons of ice and milk and only a small helping of coffee. It always frustrated me, but I figured it was just how all coffee shops operated. When I discovered Bodhi, I also discovered that their ice to coffee ratio is flipped. I’m now not left with a full cup of ice and I feel like I get such a better bang for my buck! The parking at this location is pretty terrible, but that doesn’t dissuade me from coming. There is a single row of parking spots right in front of the shop that are always all taken. If you don’t mind a quick walk, you can find additional parking on the right of the building in the middle of the shopping center. I can’t say enough great things about this coffee shop. If you’re over the high prices and long lines associated with Starbucks coffee, you HAVE to try Bodhi. They are beginning to expand their company and have several new locations.

The Human Bean – Menu with Prices – 1946 Harrodsburg Rd, Lexington

The Human Bean is brand new and this was my first visit. That said, I do think I’ll be back! I stopped by on a whim after noticing at long last that it was open! The drive thru lane is nice and long, which may sound like a weird thing to mention, but anyone who has been in the crazy drive thru lane at the Broadway Starbucks will understand! I ordered a small caramel cold brew (they don’t have iced coffee that isn’t cold brew), and it was delightful! The coffee was smooth and the caramel syrup wasn’t overly sweet. Their menu has a nice variety, with all kinds of hot coffee and espresso drinks as you’d expect, frozen coffee drinks, smoothies, and even a dedicated kids menu! I’m excited to try their other offerings!

The Cocoa Bean – Menu with Prices – 6000 W Osceola Pkwy, Kissimmee

While this location is SUPER convenient when staying at the Gaylord, that is the only redeeming quality. If you are in a rush or don’t feel like venturing to far for coffee, this will do but maintain low expectations. The service was nothing like what you typically receive at a true Starbucks location. Not realizing this wasn’t like a full Starbucks, I started out by ordering one of the holiday drinks which they told me they didn’t have. Ok, ok…I’ll settle for my standard Caramel Frappuccino. No, apparently they “ran out” of the Frappuccino mix. I honestly just think they didn’t feel like taking the effort to make it so I ended up with Caramel Iced Coffee. My friend and I were discussing if we wanted to order any actual food, the lady over heard what we said and just automatically rung it up and started to gather the items. We hadn’t actually said anything to her and I didn’t even think we were talking loud enough for her to hear us. Needless to say, two coffees, two croissants and a bowl of fruit was $24! We couldn’t even eat the fruit it was so gross. I hope that I never find myself in a situation where I have to resort to ordering anything from here again.

Shepherd Artisan Coffee – Menu with Prices – 919 Collins Ave, Miami Beach

I’m Italian, I love coffee.. I’m a much better person when I have a coffee because I’m absolute shit storm to deal with otherwise and thank the heavens I stumbled upon this place. My partner and I went here one of our first nights in Miami during the afternoon at it was a fucking scorcher of a day. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and he ordered a caramel latte. After feeling pretty jet lagged the coffee was strong just how I like it and made us both feel alive again. It was by far one of the best iced lattes I have had! Nothing beats a super cute Artisan caffe over shitty Starbucks. We went to Shepherd’s several times throughout our vacation. I just wish I could order one of their vanilla lattes when I’m back home! xx

MOOR Coffee Co – Menu with Prices – 4110 Youree Dr, Shreveport

Okay, I really want to like this place because I am a big local business kind of girl but……I just can’t. My husband and I went here to venture out of our normal coffee shops. We love coffee! We visited this place around 2pm on a weekday. The overall ambiance of the place is on point (modern cafe style with comfy seats and parents with little kids would love this place! There is a gymnasium right next to it!). So we decided to order 2 iced coffees black so that we could add sweetener and cream to make our coffees the way we like them. We ordered 2 large iced coffees and they were $9 and some change. That is a little outrageous! Starbucks doesn’t even charge that much for 2 venti iced coffees (it’s about $6 something). We added our half and half and sweetener and tried our drinks to make sure they were perfect before we walked out and yuck! They had a sour taste to them. They were not drinkable. So, unfortunately, we let them have the business and when we got outside threw the drinks in the trash. Now, I will tell you I am going to give them another try but I’m going to wait til winter to get an espresso drink since most of the great reviews say that the espresso is the bomb. Moral of the story……don’t get the iced coffee unless you want to waste $10.

The Kidd Coffee Co. – Menu with Prices – 4257, 301 E 4th St ste 425, Cincinnati

Kidd Coffee was just OK. Admittedly I’m not a coffee addict, but I do like a cuppa something hot, sweet, creamy and slightly coffee-accented. And I don’t mind paying $4 for a cup as an occasional splurge, and I especially don’t mind contributing to a Starbucks competitor in the completely vain hope that competition will help check-and-balance Starbucks’ prices. I impulse bought a small Milky Way specialty coffee from the Kidd Coffee stand on a particularly blustery day. It was meeeehhhh, and the same price as a Starbucks beverage. There was nothing special or distinct or even that yummy about the flavor or presentation that made the calories worthwhile. If you would have told me that it was a caramel macchiato, vanilla latte, mocha blahblah or white chocolate mocha I would have believed it because it just didn’t have any memorable taste. I like the mixed coffee drinks at McDonald’s or Dunkin’ far better.

Biggby Coffee – Menu with Prices – 120 W Ottawa St, Lansing

Better than Starbucks in my opinion but still it’s nothing special. I’m not a fan of all the sugary syrup flavored drinks. When I try a new coffee place I usually get an iced latte or a regular coffee. On this occasion I went with an iced latte and it was ok. It did not have that over roasted/burnt Starbucks flavor but it seemed to be lacking any flavor. Next time I’ll try it with an extra shot of espresso.

Nova Espresso – Menu with Prices – 306 St Anthony St, Mobile

Nova Espresso is one of the cutest coffee shops that I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting! Created out of love by an adorable young couple, this coffee shop is more than you run of the mill coffee spot. The owners have poured their passion to create this wonderful (and super cute) “third tier” coffee shop, with some creative & delicious coffee that is worth a try if you are ever in the Mobile area. Coffee shops can be intimidating to the non-coffee experts, but the staff & owners try to make everyone feel welcome as they are happy to answer any and every coffee question that visitors may have! My personal favorite is the iced bourbon maple coffee, seriously the best iced coffee that I’ve ever had – this is on a whole new level that Starbucks will never be able to beat. The menu features a unique array, but if you are unsure you can always describe what you’re looking for and they will prepare a drink that best suites you! They are also stocked with yummy pastries and sandwiches from Southern National! Give this local business some love if you haven’t already!

Metro Bean Cafe – Menu with Prices – 1851 E First St A, Santa Ana

I had to work at the Xerox building all day and I figured I better load up on caffeine, so I went to the little cafe between the parking structure and the building. It didn’t look like much when I walked in, though it was very clean and spacious, but I ended up walking away very happy. The guy at the cash register was SUPER friendly. It was my first time here, so he obviously didn’t know me yet, but he knew all the other people getting their morning kick-start and knew their drinks. The woman who prepared my wheat bagel with cream cheese was also very friendly. I love dealing with friendly people in the morning when I’m usually crabby because it makes me less crabby, so this coffee trip made me smile ? The guy who took my order also made my caramel macchiato, and while he was drizzling it with caramel he said, “Candice (Totally remembered my name from my debit card that I paid with – nice!) do you like caramel?” And I of course said yes so he drizzled extra caramel on top for me. I wish every building I worked at had nice cafes like this so I could stop searching for local Starbucks. They also had a yummy-looking lunch selection, so I might add more when/if I eat their food…

Corner Coffee Camden – Menu with Prices – 4155 N Thomas Ave, Minneapolis

It’s a weird combo of coffee and church but my opinion has nothing to do with the church part of it as I know nothing about it. My review is simply on the coffee side. I’m a huge coffee lover. I’ve always been a big fan of Starbucks or Caribou or Dunn Bros, however…Corner coffee is by far the best coffee I’ve ever had. I don’t know if it’s the brand of coffee or what but my iced lattes are AMAZING! You can’t find better coffee in the twin cities. The price of the coffee is a bit high but I’m okay with paying extra for delicious coffee. For example, I believe that the largest size at Corner Coffee (for my iced lattes) is the same as a grande size at Starbucks. There are 2 reasons for 4 stars as opposed to 5… 1. They also serve ice cream (which I was excited to learn) but it’s Kemps brand. I can get that at the grocery store. I was told that they had BomBon gelato but the sign was turned around when I was there so I assumed they were out (idk). It would be nice if they had Izzy’s or all BomBon or Bridgemans ice cream (just something of higher quality than Kemps). 2. The service isn’t bad but the 2 times I’ve been in, it wasn’t anything to rave about. They took my order and gave me my coffee…not a hello or thanks or anything but they weren’t rude or anything. There’s friendlier service at the larger chain coffee shops. All in all, if you love coffee then you have to try this place out!

Lakota Coffee Company – Downtown – Menu with Prices – 24 S 9th St, Columbia

There’s great food and coffee here but the baristas are a bit rude to customers if they don’t exactly know what they’re talking about. I ordered a cold brew not realizing that they don’t actually have that at this location but the barista at the register was helpful in fulfilling my order with an iced coffee instead (and that was absolutely okay). But, he did not tell me that there wasn’t actually cold brew so I didn’t grab my drink when they called “iced coffee”. When I didn’t come pick it up by myself, he was kind enough to bring it to me and he said “here’s your iced coffee” to which I questioned “cold brew?” because that was what I thought I had ordered. He dismissed my question and walked away mumbling a comment along the lines of “iced coffee IS cold brew” which I know it’s not. It isn’t made the same. What bothered me most is that he went to his coworkers to talk about me. He probably was not aware but I overheard him and I felt embarrassed even though I didn’t think I had said anything wrong. In Memorial Union on MU’s campus you can get Lakota coffee from Wheatstone Bistro and they offer cold brew. It’s definitely different than the iced coffee. It’s smooth and almost tastes like caramel. It is also served with a smile!

Heine Brothers’ Coffee – Longest Ave In The Highlands – Menu with Prices – 1250 Bardstown Rd, Louisville

Let me start by saying I really, really wanted to like this place. That said, this has to be some of the WORST coffee I’ve ever had the unfortunate displeasure of consuming. My wife and I stopped here after lunch on our way back home for a little pick me up, and being close to fall, all things pumpkin are of course on the menu and our eyes lit up. I’m pretty basic this time of year, and while I was seeking some yummy pumpkin coffee, it was in the upper 80s so I compromised on a pumpkin pie nitro cold brew. Sounds delicious right? Sadly, that’s where the pleasure ends…the name. This drink was downright disgusting. I don’t know if the ratios were off, if the cold brew was improperly made, or if this is just how it tastes, but it was akin to drinking acrid rotting pumpkin milk with a bit of weak “coffee” flavor added and left my mouth numb, literally numb, and my jaw wanting to lock on each sip. I have more coffee running through my veins than blood any given day, and I almost never throw out coffee, but my body literally wouldn’t let me consume more than maybe 1/8 of what I purchased. My wife ordered an iced pumpkin pie carmela and this was slightly more palatable than what I ordered, but not much. For being a caramel drink, the amount of caramel in it was wildly underwhelming and the acrid taste of the pumpkin pie was overpowering. I thought maybe if I combined her drink with mine it would be something I could stomach, but that only made matters worse. I’m sorry guys, maybe leave the pumpkin stuff to Starbucks and work on getting your roasts right before expanding the menu seasonally. All of this said, I will give them a second chance next time in the Ville and get their regular coffee to see if it was just a one-off issue with the flavored stuff. Here’s hoping….
