Wow, what a fabulous new addition to S. Congress Ave. I kept hearing rumors this place was the bomb. Being a Southie myself I had to check it out. The 3 of us rolled in Friday evening about 7:30. The parking lot was packed. Luckily we found a place around the side. Thanks for the lights. Us girls hate walking in a dark parking lot. We settled in at a table to take a look at the menu. I had heard they had really great food and with so many great choices, it was hard to decide. We started with the potato puffs and Fish tacos. OMG they were sooooo awesome! Fried chicken and brussels sprouts followed. Now, my grandma can fry some chicken but this almost puts her’s to shame. it was Crisp and juicy with tons of flavor. The brussels sprouts had just the right amount of Sriracha. Just a bit of heat but not painful. At the recommendation of one of the bartenders, my friend tried the BLT. Pork belly, lettuce & tomato sandwich. It tasted like we were sitting around a backyard barbecue, it was just that good. The bartender said they smoke the brisket and pork at night and bring it in fresh every day. I can’t remember whether it had pickles and onions on it or not but I was so mesmerized at the flavor of the pork belly I can’t remember what else was on the sandwich. The cocktails were yummy. The staff very attentive. The decor very nice. Such a great addition to South Austin. No $30 small plates (or frou frou food as we call it) here. There were people sitting outside on the deck with dogs. Lots of groups drinking beer. Quite a few taps on the wall. I’m not sure if they’re kid friendly. It seems more of a bar that serves really good food and not the kind of place you want to bring a rambunctious three-year-old. We will most definitely make the Git Out a weekly spot to Git in!!!!!!!!

Dragon Warrior Noodle – Menu with Prices – 800 N Main St #420, McAllen

Today temperature was in the high 30s and a hot soup sounded perfect. There was a line but plenty of seats available. We ordered at the bar and yes you need to get our own silverware, straws, and refills. They give you a number to place on the table much like whataburger. We order Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and 2 bowls. They took our number when they brought out the Brussels sprouts. Another 15 minutes goes by and we see everyone else getting food who sat down after us. We asked where our food was and it was very clear they had forgot about our food. Someone came by and said they are working on our food after 30 minutes of waiting. We waited patiently and 42 minutes later I finally get my dragon warrior bowl. I ordered chicken and they brought me pork. Did I eat it? Yes I was hungry and I couldn’t wait another 40 plus minutes for them to get it right. Was it good? Absolutely not a fan of the pork! The Brussels sprouts were flavorful and I did enjoy them. The soda options they have a good. Please be more courteous that people are stopping here on a lunch break.

The Pub at 1802 – Menu with Prices – 1802 Spy Run Ave, Fort Wayne

The pub at 1802, we stop in almost every Wednesday for the last five weeks. Good drinks, good food, decent service. Tonight, what the hell happened? Started out joking with our server, Samantha, having a good time. Twenty minutes later, “oh, the bartender hasn’t gotten your drinks out yet.” Order food, thirty minutes later, forgot one of the sandwiches ordered. Brussels sprouts, burnt. My fish and fries were at best Luke warm. What the hell took so long to get. Server, “it’s the kitchens fault.” Okay, who forgot our silverware and to check in if we needed more drinks? Missing sandwich comes out maybe eight minutes later. Brussels sprouts go from a plate full to a cup full. No damage control. The manager, or the guy I think is the manager is doing shots at the table next to ours, never intervenes. Bills come, only one was correct, the others, had specials at regular prices. One was triple what it should have been. Finally, after very little bitching from our table, “hope you have a good rest of your night.” No apologies about anything, no comp for the missing reordered sandwich, no explanation on how the Brussels sprouts go from a full order to a cup full. The only thing I can say is we had six people, five cars in an otherwise empty parking lot, and that table and that parking lot will be empty next week and the next and the next. DISAPPOINTING!

?ì???ë?¤ Ianâ??s Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 40-17 150th St, Flushing

What a pleasant surprise! I pass by this place everytime I take LIRR but haven’t had a chance to try. The place is very small so I was skeptical at first, but I decided to be adventurous. I ordered chicken + roast pork belly combo. The combo came with generous amount of sliced pork belly, an order of fried chicken, ddukbokki (spicy rice cake), french fries, vegetables and a sauce for pork belly (to make wraps), 3 sauces for fried chicken. The pork belly was slow cooked in a rotating roaster, and it was juicy, soft and flavorful. Usually the Bossam (pork belly served with veges to make wraps) is served with steamed pork which tend to lack flavor. Not this one. I didn’t know slow roasting pork could bring out such flavor. Chicken was still crispy despite being in a container for 30 minutes. I don’t think the chicken was flavored and yet, it had enough flavor. Crispy outside and soft inside. I tried the 3 sauce it came with and two of them paired really well with the chicken! I should have asked the names of each sauce. Ddukbboki (spicy rice cake) was reasonably sweet and spicy, well balanced. French fries got soggy from being in the container for 30 min so didn’t try it yet. Throw it in the oven for 15 min and it will come back to life. Overall, this was a very pleasant experience. If you are digging chicken with something else ( they have roasted pork belly and sliced pork feet option), you should definitely try this place. You will be surprised. Will definitely come back.

9 Delicacies – Menu with Prices – 520 128th St SW B-8, Everett

9 Delicacies is extremely good. We ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Pork Belly Plate with the Spicy Cucumber Salad and House-Made Kimchi. The Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich was a crispy, juicy, saucy, messy piece of goodness on a bun. The chicken was very crispy, but very moist. The sauce was sweet. The combination of the crispy textures, sweetness of the sauce, and the amount of chicken created a nice Unami-bomb (and messy) of a sandwich. The Pork Belly Plate was extremely good as well. There was a decent amount of Pork Belly – enough to share between two people (with the sandwich) and not feel like I missed out. I could’ve done with the Pork Belly being a little more fattier and render, but the flavor was there. The rice was very light and aromatic – the coconut was a really nice flavor profile that made the rice unique. The Spicy Cucumber Salad was very good. It had a nice spice to it and had a great freshness and snap as well. It was the perfect compliment to the salty, fatty pork and meaty and messy sandwich. The Kimchi was very good too. It had a nice snap/crunch, wasn’t too sour, wasn’t too sweet – it was very fresh. Good. We ordered a Spicy Cucumber Salad to go. It was a bit disappointing because 1) they didn’t completely fill up the container and 2) as the salad set it became more condensed, so by the time we got home only about 60 percent of the container was full. I wish they would’ve packed it more – but oh well. Really good food. I’ll definitely be back. It almost feels an Asian/Korean “Meat & Bread.”

Southern National – Menu with Prices – 360 Dauphin St, Mobile

Came to dinner here on the recommendation of a Yelp! friend and it was an absolute home run. What a great find in downtown Mobile. Started with the Sweet Potato and Carrot Soup – which was just DIVINE – and I don’t even use that word. I could eat a bowl, every day, forever. Following that was an order of biscuits and Johnnycakes – that was also wonderful. The biscuits were golden brown and perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy and moist on the inside. You can’t make them better than that. Honestly – they were amazing. I also ordered a salad that I thought was supposed to be a mix of iceberg and Brussels Sprouts. What came out was delicious but – honestly – I did not see or taste the Brussels Sprouts at any point. My conclusion is that I was delivered just the lettuce wedge instead of the lettuce Brussels Sprouts mix. An honest mistake and given the quality of everything else – I’m not allowing that to change my rating. But I would still like to taste their Brussels Sprouts! Accompanying my meal was a Boulevardier and one of their signature drinks – the “Private Tour” – a rum based cocktail where the “rum” is actually a hand selected blend of about four different rums – including Ron Xacapa – that was like an entire rum flight in your mouth. Delicious. My server and bartender was Will who is a masterful maker of fine cocktails and a great conversation partner. Give that man a raise! At the end there was a little lagniappe – a coconut macaroon with lemon icing that was just tasty and just right. And free! Put this on your bucket list of must experience dining spots in Mobile…..

Aji Dori Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1100 R St, Sacramento

A new addition to the ever changing R street, Aji Dori hits the mark for the street-foodie in all of us. With a wide showcase of street food items as well as the more traditional sushi fare, this modern don’t-call-it-Asian-fusion restaurant has something for everyone. My friend and I met for lunch here and we were impressed by the interior of the restaurant–sleek, modern, simplistic but elegant. Whoever did the decor, we agreed, knew how to cater to the upper 20s early 30s crowd. There’s even a No Face on the way to the bathroom. The tables along the walls had orchids, and the large, bright, open windows are perfect for a lunch meetup. It was suggested we order the pork belly–and it was delicious. If you love decadent yet simple (I think it was a salt and pepper dish) then the pork belly is an amazing small dish to order. I’d imagine it would go good with some beer, like how street food is meant to be eaten. We also ordered the 7 pc nigiri, which was also fresh and perfect for lunch with fresh wasabi served alongside. I could have eaten two of these on my own. Finally, we ordered the Ultimate Roll. I don’t like how a lot of other sushi restaurants douse their sushi rolls in various sauces (maybe to mask the taste of their actual fish) and wind up with every roll tasting the same–but here it’s different. I liked the sauce served with it, and it was just enough to where I could still taste the freshness of the fish. The service was good, they were attentive and accommodating even though I wanted to bring my daughter’s whole stroller with us next to the table (she won’t sleep otherwise). There’s 2 hr parking a block away and a bunch of 1hr or 90 min parking spots up and down R street. Overall, a great new addition to Sacramento’s food scene. It’s really dope to watch simple Asian street food gain popularity. I’ll be back!

Dumpling Darling – Menu with Prices – 212 E 3rd St, Des Moines

I took my two adult children to lunch here as weâ??ve been hearing good things. I ordered a side of fried Brussels sprouts with Korean BBQ sauce which was an adequate portion to be shared by 3 or 4 people. I also ordered a small size (5) Leslie Lamb steamed dumplings. The Brussels sprouts were cooked to perfect consistency and the sauce for me was just right- covered without being overbearing and diminishing the crunch. The dumplings were so delicious with great flavor. My daughter had the Hoisin Pork Bao (2 large sized) and the fried Mac and Cheese dumplings and loved both. My son had a side of edamame ( choices of spicy or sea salt) and the avocado crab Rangoon fried dumplings. He enjoyed the dumplings but did say for His preference the side sweet and sour sauce lacked much flavor( he likes spicy foods). Our meal was $33 minus tip. Great value as I took home a take out box with a meal of sides and 1 steamed dumpling leftover. The door to the restaurant is left open and there was a pesky fly that visited our table throughout the meal which was a tad annoying. Service was friendly yet I could have used a return visit during the meal for more water. (I didnâ??t ask and we were checked on after our food was delivered). We all found many options we could have ordered and based on our enjoyment of todayâ??s selections we wouldnâ??t have been disappointed.

Pangea Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 111 S Green River Rd, Evansville

When I initially heard this place sold pizza & Thai food I was a bit thrown off. I came on a Saturday night and the place was PACKED! It’s self seating, so you need to stalk tables and be able to claim it as soon as the previous guests are done eating. We were able to snag 2 small round tables for our group of 9. You place your order at the counter and they give you a number stand to display on your table so the servers know where you are sitting. I never had Detroit style pizza and was very pleased I was able to experience the phenomenon. It tasted even better with Mike’s Hot Honey drizzled all over it! The drunken noodles were also very good. The noodles they served were handmade and you could definitely taste the difference. Although it was not the traditional style of drunken noodles I am accustomed to, I really enjoyed the creativity and the flavors of this version, especially the twisty noodles. I also got an order of Brussels sprouts and they came in a huge bowl. I love Brussels sprouts and was totally ecstatic about the generous portion. They have a bar on the other side where you could order cocktails and other alcoholic beverages and bring them over to your table. The owner of this restaurant is very personable and does many table visits and genuinely cares about the products that he serves. He told me I should try the pistachio pizza the next time I come, which sounds amazing!

Burnt Crumbs Irvine – Menu with Prices – 8549 Irvine Center Dr, Irvine

Actual: 3.5/5 Normally, I’m not one to gravitate towards sandwiches/burgers unless it’s lunchtime. Burnt Crumbs has been bookmarked on my list for a while and since we were in area shopping at the Spectrum, I thought why not. Parking was packed since this is a popular eating spot despite the large amount of space. Burnt Crumbs has large tables/bar style seating instead of your typical sit-down tables. Since we came towards the beginning of the dinner rush, we were able to snag a spot. This is fast-casual dining, so you order at the register and seat yourself. I would say the pricing is on the mid-end for a sandwich shop. Expect to pay $10-15 for a meal. -Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich (4/5): The biscuits (= the buns) were dry, but were balanced by the potato spread. The fried chicken wasn’t crispy, but was juicy and nicely seasoned. This is the first time I’ve had mashed potato in a sandwich instead of on the side. I guess this is their attempt to make fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and biscuit to be more finger-food like. Incredibly messy and we ended up eating it with a fork and knife. Didn’t taste any spiciness and it’s supposed to have sriracha honey? I think the price is worth the generous size. -Hand cut fries with garlic aioli (5/5): Thick-cut fries, but not mushy. Super crispy. Loved the garlic aioli and started to dip parts of our sandwich in it. -Pork Belly Torta (2/5): Did not like this one at all. The pork belly wasn’t too fatty and is a nice cut. Flavorless pork belly and almost gamey because they don’t marinade it or season it well. The bread and pork belly was BURNT (pun not intended). We noticed this when trying to split the sandwich. Biting into a burnt sandwich is messy and not a pleasant taste at all. I liked the guacamole, but the panela cheese was rubbery. Not melted and it was reminiscent of cafeteria cheese. Overall: I think the concept is very simple when you don’t want to grab regular fast food. While this place doesn’t look like it’ll be in my regular rotation, I think I’d invite friends to eat here for a simple lunch-time get together.

In Bloom at Keg & Case Market – Menu with Prices – 928 7th St W, St Paul

I have been wanting to check out In Bloom for awhile now and so happy finally got here because it did not disappoint. Started off with some cocktails, I love my old fashioned and this one did not disappoint! While sipping and deciding on our meals, I happened to look up and loved the lights hanging down. The space is so elegant and modern with industrial flair..if that makes any sense? I really liked the atmosphere and appreciated that many, if not all the tables have a view of the kitchen. I am a big fan of open kitchens so you get to watch the masters at work! We started off with the tuna tartare and chicken wings in chili sauce Really liked the tuna tartare. It came with pickled peppers and radish that’s complemented the flavors. Chicken wings were good as well good sized wings, but you only get three for $14. A little bit pricy for wings in my opinion. You need to give more or they have to be exceptional wings. The wings themselves were still tasty. They were cooked well and the chili sauce was a great way to give them a nice kick. For entrees we shared the pork belly, side of sprouts and gnocchi with pork ragu. Pork belly was really good, very large portion and I love my crispy skin! A little tough to cut (might be the fancy knife lol…looked pretty but didn’t really do a good job cutting into the meat ) Gnocchi was different than what I am used to. Instead of small, soft pillowy gnocchi you may be used to, In Bloom’s version was to have a pancake style piece where it was closer to a mash or grit texture and look and the outside is crispy. When you ate a bite, flavors were spot on for gnocchi but just throws you off from what you are used to seeing one to look like. The pork ragu was delish! Juicy and tender, it was a great complement to the gnocchi. I recommend getting the sprouts as a side. They had a crunch and good roasted flavor to them. My friends enjoyed are time there, I need to come back with hubby and enjoy some of the other dishes too

Sparrow Meat Market Menu with Prices 407 N 5th Ave, Ann Arbor

I’ve always loved sparrow for high quality meat despite slightly higher prices, but they just recently they did me wrong. I’ve bought skin on pork belly for a long time from Sparrow, i believe it usually arrives on Monday and they sell it for 1.99 a pound. I showed up today to get some and it was 3.99. After asking a worker why they marked it up he told me it was always that price… which I know isn’t true. However, I care more about quality than price (why I’m shopping at sparrow in the first place) so i went on to buy my skin on pork belly as I planned. When I got home, I found out the butcher had just cut off the very top lean layer of the belly with the skin, and left the rest of it to be sold as pork belly w/o skin. Let me rephrase that, my pork belly I purchased had no fat, none, it looked like a tenderloin. I am confused what I should do with this very lean belly. This is not the way that sparrow used to serve their skin on pork belly. I bought a two pound section 10 days ago and it was a nice fatty pork belly with the skin on; it was also $2 a pound, but that’s not the point. Long story short I am very disappointed in the product I purchased from Sparrow today.

Korean Cuisine Bob Sang – Menu with Prices – 4185 Cushing Pkwy, Fremont

Was feeling hungry on a Saturday night so opted for some AYCE kbbq! Parking lot is a bit small but it was an early-ish dinner (6pm) so there were some spots available. Wait was about 10 or or so minutes. They have set dinners and a la carte but AYCE was reasonably priced so that’s what we went for. Standard bonchon, and the meats are split up into ones that you cook for yourself (brisket, ribeye, pork belly), and meats that they bring pre-cooked for you (bbq beef, chicken, pork, galbi). I was here a long time ago and remembered them cooking the meat for our group, but I guess that’s not really a thing anymore. No matter! It’s pretty simple to flip meats and keep everything from being burnt. Brisket was good, rib eye was a pass. The bbq chicken/beef/pork combination platter felt like a filler but the galbi was great. Should have eaten more of that but got filled up on other things. Corn cheese was a bit sweet for my liking. Servers were very attentive, we were hardly ever without some meat cooking (sometimes had to tell them to wait a bit so we could actually finish eating what we cooked before they gave us more meat). It was bustling inside but our waiters made sure we always had enough meat & water. I usually take like 2-3 month hiatuses after kbbqs so I’m glad this place made it a worthwhile experience!
