Ever since I came across photos of Gas Lantern on their Facebook page I KNEW I had to check them out! They’re located a few blocks from the Capitol building in downtown Boise, making this the perfect meet up spot. Right away, we noticed there were a variety of people in here at 8 p.m. on a Tuesday…always a great sign! The place is beautifully appointed (very Joss & Main) and has ample seating and some fun additions like a pool table which was an excellent touch! In terms of drinks, their cocktail menu only features a handful of items ranging between $8-12. They do make well drinks and they serve beer on tap as well but none of those prices were included in the menu. I ordered a drink called Afternoon and my boyfriend tried the only other $8 drink option. Both of the drinks we tried tasted strong. When I go to a place that focuses on cocktails, I’ve never had to worry about coughing after taking a sip of a mix drink, but here we are. The drinks are beautiful but very small. Furthermore, on top of being miniature, my boyfriends drink was completely filled with ice. It’s a fancy place, smaller portions are to be expected, but we still weren’t expecting them to be that small. For the price and the buzz it’s a 3/5. They also serve food from a food truck but as good as it looks, it’s not worth it. The fries worn’t fried (possibly baked?), the poutine had a flour tase, and the burgers are incredibly small. We 100% could have had an off-night experience because people have been raving about the food, but nothing stood out as something I’d order again. If you’re down for a night out, this place seems like a great spot to pre-party during happy hour. It’s only a few blocks from the Grove Plaza, there’s ample street parking, and they have drink discounts from 4-6 pm. It didn’t end up standing out to me with service, drinks or food, but it’s definitely worth stopping by at least once. I strongly feel like we just picked a bad night when service was iffy, drinks were prepared without much attention, and the food truck was starting to slow down for the night (they stop serving at 9 pm fyi). I look forward to trying them again at happy hour sometime to see how the experiences compare.

Wasabi of Daniel Island – Menu with Prices – 194 Seven Farms Drive, Charleston

Our experience was excellent. We went for Happy Hour to see Me And Mrs Jones play before a concert. We came and the weather was awful so the porch was not open, the concert was cancelled and the restaurant’s planned entertainment was cancelled as well. So it sounds like a bummer of a night. Wrong! We were lucky enough to get a great table in the bar area and there were 2 bartenders that serviced the area. We had most of our service from the female on staff that night but both were very attentive to our needs. We got the Happy Hour menu and just went to town. Everything looked good so we ended up asking what our server’s favorites were and decided on the lettuce wraps and the Asian Tartare and for our Maki(rolls) we got the Avocado and also the Shrimp Tempura. Along with that we got wine and Saki. WE checked in on Yelp and noticed a 20% discount for a Specialty Roll! So we got the Daniel Island Roll. Between the two of us we had ample amount of food and drink. And everything was fantastic. I had also heard on Yelp that they had authentic Wasabi and it was extra and we went ahead and ordered some of it. We loved all of it. The Lettuce wraps were fantastic and great presentation. My favorite was the Tuna Tartare was especially good and served on wonton chips that were the perfect vehicle for the tuna. Loved the large Saki. Only $4 during Happy Hour. All items had great prices. The avocado rolls were only $2.75. We had so much food and splurged on the Specialty roll which my wife was not crazy about but I was and got to have hers. Great tuna on this and I used some of the authentic Wasabi which was a good experience but probably not worth the extra charge. Overall this review is for the Bar area and Happy Hour and both were fantastic as I am sure the restaurant is. Our server was just fantastic and knowledgeable. We will be back!

Finney’s Crafthouse & Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 35 State St a, Santa Barbara

I came here for happy hour (which is 3-6pm Monday-Friday) and I was not disappointed! The service, food, location, and drinks were amazing. It’s only about a block from the beach/pier and it has indoor and patio seating (pet friendly)! To start of with drinks, I ordered the meggerz mule, If you love chili mango, you will love this drink. It was refreshing and delicious. This drink exceeded my expectations and not to mention only $7. We also ordered the buffalo cauliflower, margherita pizza, mini ahi poke tacos, and their chicken and waffle bites. These items were amazing and I personally can’t even pick a favorite because all of them were so good and delicious!! Their happy hour had $6, $7, and $9 food items as well as a $15 combo meal which comes with burger, fries, and beer (what a steal)!! Not to mention their craft beers are all $5 during happy hour! Service was great and our server was very accommodating. We sat at the patio and we were able to enjoy our food with our four-legged best friend. What more can you ask for?! I can’t wait to come back again to try more of their menu items & drinks.

Dust Bowl Lanes and Lounge – Menu with Prices – 315 E Capitol Ave, Little Rock

Initially had reservations made for a Saturday night (1/26). Upon arrival, we were told they had double booked on reservations and our lane wouldn’t be available for another hour and a half. We ordered some drinks that were apparently during “Happy Hour.” After receiving our drinks, we still didn’t have our card back; therefore, we had to go find the waitress to get our card back. Her reply was that she was “looking for us.” Once we had left, we noticed that we were over charged for the “Happy Hour” drinks. We called them back to inquire about the overcharge; however, it went to voicemail. So we left our name and phone number, and still have not heard back from them (2/10).

Lost & Found – Menu with Prices – 2519 N Stanton St, El Paso

A small bar with patio and cute decor. A wide selection of beer and liquor with limited wine choices. I did not see a food menu or bar nuts. On this April 2019 visit the tank-top clad bartenders were busy serving beers to and chatting with about 10 young men. Seems they might be going for the breastrant approach. Unfortunately the young ladies are not trained well as they were very slow to serve us; I had to call one’s attention as I stood only a few feet away at the bar. Cocktail tables had not been cleaned and one table had used shot glasses and limes on it for the 30 minutes I was there. The wine glasses, hanging on display, were dirty; she had to set down a few before finally cleaning one for me. A call drink and wine on happy hour was $15. I gave her a $20 and the bartender returned a $5. Humm….not giving a $5 tip for poor service. Oh well. Parking was difficult, but can be found within a couple blocks. Suggestions: 1) Train the bartenders on how to attend to guests! 2) Clean the glasses and tables 3) Get a little better happy hour prices 4) Provide bar nuts

First Magnitude Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 1220 SE Veitch St, Gainesville

I went to First Magnitude Brewing Company on a weeknight as part of a going away party for a friend. I didn’t know what to expect but seeing the crazy amount of children running around blew my mind. I don’t think alcohol and liquor are bad and that we should “think of the children!” when it comes to drinking. I’m just shocked that this place, that doesn’t serve food and is a BREWERY is considered a family-friendly place. It’s a brewery. The purpose is for people to come together and drink and have a good time. The night I was there there was no food truck. They do have a food truck schedule but I was either too early for the food truck or none was scheduled. So imagine a bunch of people sipping on beers with no food and all these kids are running around. My friend brought her toddler but only because she had no sitter and this was the last time we’d see our friend. Neither of us had a drink. I was on my own so I wasn’t drinking. It just…I don’t know. Maybe if I were with a group of friends I knew much better than I knew the folks I was with that night it would have been a much better experience. Also, I just don’t get the kids. Why? Why is it such a horrible thing to have a place for adults to gather and hang out without children running around? It’s just frustrating that GNV makes everything a family-friendly place.

La Baby Bar Menu with Prices 1611 Dungan Ln, Austin

Wow really friendly folks here! Walked in and started talking with every right away (English). Only serve snacks here, but food truck is right outside (i heard closes early). After talking to manager sounds like lots of drink specials at night. 3 FREE pool tables also. Outside fenced in area with games. If your around id give this place a try, its worth it!

Taters Half Baked Menu with Prices 6616 Ruppsville Rd, Allentown

We have eaten here twice. Both times, the food was good. The problem is always the service. The 1st time, it was busy and someone had called in. They would have needed more help, that one person wouldn’t have been enough. I don’t know if the servers work the bars too, but it was crazy. So, we decided to give them another shot, wow, what a huge mistake! We waited an hour just to get drinks from the hostess, because a waitress never came. They passed us a bunch of times, but never stopped. In the end the hostess also took our orders. This is fine, but she kept waiting for the servers to help us and they didn’t. I understand that’s not her job, but when your servers are that bad you have to step up OR no one is going to have a job. Now 3 out of 4 of us were bartenders and servers at one point in our lives, so we know what it’s like (which makes it even worse). If the kitchen’s backed up, tell us, and ask if we want another drink. We could have had 2 more rounds of drinks while we were waiting. They were trying to tell us how slammed they were. There weren’t that many tables, with people at. The two servers should have been able to handle that, especially because they don’t even serve the food. Someone from the kitchen does. Then we sat there watching them, bringing one or two drinks out at a time. How about using a tray, and saving yourself a lot of time, and in turn wait on more people, and make better tips. It’s a win-win for everyone. If the servers are overwhelmed, then the hostess or manager should jump in. It is such a shame that poor management will ruin this place. The food is good. I love the venue for shows, but I really feel like the restaurant and the way it is run, is going to drag the whole place down. Here’s an idea, on a night there’s a show, put more staff on, and train these servers. Use trays for drinks. Check back with people. We got there at 6:30, and it took almost 2 hours to get one round of drinks, 4 orders of fries, and an order of wings. The first hour was just waiting for someone to take our drink order. If the show would have started on time, we would have missed the 1st hour of it. We won’t be eating there again. Next time, we’ll eat at home or stop somewhere else, then just go in and see the show.

Divided Vine Beer & Wine Bar – Menu with Prices – 861 N Higley Rd #116, Gilbert

Seriously, a gem of a spot! I have worked around the corner from here for yearrrrrs and had no clue this was so close. Wine and beer on happy hour until 7pm lured me in the door, but the excellent service and friendly guys behind the bar will keep me coming back. They had a food truck on site out back serving up fresh pizza and I saw some others bring food in to have with their beverages. We tried a bottle of organic red wine, and the happy hour price was $18. I can’t recall the last time I had a bottle of wine for under $30, let alone organic. I will be back to try out some of that extensive beer list in the near future!

Terrene Hookah Menu with Prices 106 Vassar Dr SE #2823, Albuquerque

This is my 2nd time here. I love the ambience first off. Anyone that isn’t picky and likes good smoke would like it here. They have bottomless hookah for 10 bucks…can’t beat it! You can do add ons like add fruit, ice, or premium shisha for a small surcharge. It’s quiet and laid back. Most people are studying or on their laptops. It is close in proximity to UNM…probably where most of their business comes from. I recommend you drink before you get here. (if that’s your thing) They do not serve alcohol, but refreshments such as soda, red bull, water, gatorade, tea, frappuccinos, and monster energy drinks. They have packaged snacks, but I’m currently unaware of which kind. I came to smoke, now about the smoke. It is clean and smooth. The customer service is great, they always check on you to make sure you’re good. There’s also a restaurant next door that serves alcohol if ya need a drink. They’ll hold your hookah and spot for an hour if you leave. Really chill…economical hookah spot. Sorry for the fuzzy pic (ain’t nobody got time for that!)

Jimmy’s GR Original – Menu with Prices – 4020 W New Haven Ave, Melbourne

Gooey, cheesy, salty, zesty, smokey, mouth-watering goodness! Jimmy’s food truck (across from Bare Assets) is a real gem. Honestly, there’s really nothing like it in town. It doesn’t look like anything special, but trust me – this place blows you away with ample servings, gourmet quality, and Big Bang for your buck. I don’t live in this area, but my wife and I always make it a point to come back to Jimmys whenever we’re in town. Try the lamb gyro (it’s a must!), but don’t neglect the Philly cheesesteak BOMB! That’s one of the best things on the menu. Also love love love the Greek salad! (Note: this food truck used to be down the street, but it recently moved up a couple blocks to the parking lot in front of Bare Assets)

Bark and the Bite – Menu with Prices – 2186 Marshall Ave, St Paul

The food for the most part was good. However, two things that really made my experience a frustrating one was: 1. The bun on my pulled pork sandwich was really burnt. After not touching our sandwich for over 10 minutes, the bartender failed to asked us if why we haven’t touch our sandwich yet? After stating the issue, he went back and got us two buns instead of taking the dish to the back to be replated. BBQ is messy and to ask a guest to literally take burnt buns of a pulled pork sandwich and have to reassemble it yourself is a rookie move by the staff. Furthermore, instead of apologizing, he gave an excuse that the reason for the buns being burnt is not because of the kitchen’s failure but more of the product because they just switched buns and they are having issues with it coming out burnt (sounds like an adjustment needed to be made) but instead, they did not. 2. The bartender failed to inform us of happy hour. I overheard a guest comment about their drink prices not being happy hour and the bartender made the adjustment and gave them happy hour prices. However, on our departure, when asked about the prices of our drinks, the bartender did not accommodate us. Furthermore, he failed to state happy hour selections to any of the other guests that sat at the bar. He should have made the price adjustments to our drinks being that he literally made those same adjustments for the guests that ordered right next to me. I would not recommend this for sit down dining because of the service issues. We spent $75 and felt robbed after what had happened. Either the bartender was not being honest about stating happy hour or intended for happy hour not to be recognized or was overwhelmed and could not relay that to the patrons at the bar. With that said, I am sad to say that I will not return. I was really looking forward to having a go to bbq spot near me but this will not be the one.
