I ordered the lobster roll, Shrimp Po’ Boy, Crab/ corn chowder, and the bananna pudding. I would have given two stars but the delivery was fast and the Banana Pudding was one of the most delicious desserts I’ve ever had. The 20 dollar lobster roll had a claw and then like claw meat and shredding various meat, no lobster tail at all, seems like they cut open a bag of lobster meat that’s pasteurized that I can buy in the supermarket and used that instead of steaming lobster then taking the meat out and prepping batches in that way. I wouldn’t order it again. The Shrimp Po’ Boy was perfectly fine and what I expected, no complaints here! The crab/ corn chowder: I was expecting a thicker base and more like a corn chowder, this was like watery N.E. clam chowder with corn kernels tossed in. I would mention the crab but there was none in there, maybe like crab broth was used in making the stock for the soup but there was no discernible crab in it. I’d rather they just raise the price 4 bucks or 5 bucks and actually have some crab in it. The bananna Pudding: Good GOD THAT WAS TASTY AF! I’m not a sweets type of person but was in the mood for a little sweet and the portion is perfect for someone who just wants a lil’ something and the pudding with the vanilla cake like small cookies in there along with some slices of actual banana, was heavenly. I’d order from them just for the dang Banana pudding it was so good! Delivery: place is pretty close to where I live so I wasn’t expecting it to take too long and it was quick and everything was what I ordered so no complaints there.

Alive & Kicking Lobsters – Menu with Prices – 269 Putnam Ave, Cambridge

I just couldn’t let summer end without another lobster roll. Stopped by Alive & Kicking last week with an out of town friend who demanded New England-style seafood. I heard good thing about this place and wanted to give it a try (to kill two birds or something like that). This place did not disappoint! Loved the lobster sandwich. Generous serving of lobster in the sandwich. Loved how I got more lobster than bread. Don’t know how I can ever go back to eating it in a roll. The lobster bisque was flavorful and tasty. Could really tell it was made that day. The clam chowder didn’t disappoint. Super fresh and a really-true-to-its-roots clam chowder. There’s outdoor seating and a couple of off street parking spaces. They did have a smaller seating area in a makeshift shack. It was on the pricey side ($31 in all) and the soups were smaller portions than I would have liked for $6 plus bucks. Lobster sandwich was better value, even if the price is comparable or a little more than some places. You just get so much lobster! But hey, its a small business and I’m sure the taxes are high. Is it worth trekking out to this side of Cambridge to eat? Maybe not, but I would definitely eat a lobster sandwich here again if I was close by.

Just Beclaws – Menu with Prices – 860 Broad St, Newark

Just Beclaws is a seafood restaurant located on busy Broad street in Newark. Parking in front of the restaurant on Broad Street is darn near impossible however, depending on the time of day, you may choose to pay for a parking lot spot or look for a metered one which could be quite a distance away. Once inside the establishment, I noticed a bar (not up and running as of yet. They are waiting for approval of their liquor license). The staff says you can BYOB in the meantime. The restaurant appeared clean yet busy. There were quite a few customers sitting and eating at tables. They took my order fairly quickly for takeout. The food was prepared and ready to go in 15-20 min. I ordered a lobster roll. The lobster roll consisted of cheap lobster parts like the claws and other bits of lobster all stuffed on a white roll. My first thought after realizing the lobster had the cheap parts stuffed in it, was that the (bread) roll should have been toasted. The food didn’t have a lot of flavor to it thus I was a bit disappointed. I also ordered the banana pudding. It was very sweet and tasted like there may have been a hint of cream cheese in it – a secret ingredient )no longer quite secret) now used in banana pudding at every soul food restaurant. All in all my experience at Just Beclaws was mediocre. There are several, SEVERAL seafood competitors within the area so I’m not quite sure if I plan to come back.

A Bite Of Maine – Menu with Prices – 2865 Lynnhaven Dr A5, Virginia Beach

I’ve heard about a food truck called A Bite of Maine out of Virginia Beach years ago and how popular it became in the community. And the raves were around the Lobster Rolls. Two years ago, they opened up their own brick and mortar where customers can dine in, with reviews still mainly positive. Now, I finally got the chance to see what the fuss was about, and man was I satisfied. Once you walk in, you have to stand in line to place your order. If you’re there worrying to yourself saying ‘Is this gonna take long???’, then you’re wasting your time (joking of course). My girlfriend and I were probably in line maybe 5 minutes where there were 6 people ahead of us so it was no biggie. The people told me that around 1pm it would be crowded and it was. Like the old saying goes, it was worth the wait. We both ordered Lobster Rolls and pint size orders of clam chowder (I also ordered the Moxie soda), but her roll was the ‘Maine’ which is the mayo-based sauce (the most popular choice) and mine was the ‘Connecticut’ which is butter based. It may be a small roll, but man oh man does it pack flavor. The roll was buttered just right (not overdosed with butter) and there was plenty of lobster. And no, this is not the type that’s out of a freezer bag. This here is the real deal, fresh from Maine. $13/roll sounds right for the authenticity. The clam chowder is chunky and flavorful. And it helps with the addition of bacon. My only issue with the clam chowder (which is very small) is the lack of thickness. I’m used to having the chowder a little thicker, however with everything that’s served, it makes up for that issue. Like I said earlier, this place lived up to the hype. I will be coming back here again, maybe to try fried clams and clam chowder (or lobster bisque depending on which week it will be). Stay tuned…….

TASTEMYPLATE – Menu with Prices – 158-02 Rockaway Blvd, Jamaica

Craving crab legs on a Thursday night and only being able to order delivery I stumbled upon this place. Had many good reviews so I ordered the sha boil crab. One hour passes. Another hour passes. Finally someone shows up. Informs that ran out crab legs and handed me half my order and informs that they refunded part of my order on my card. I was so shocked. Why did no one call me to inform me that my order was out so I could get a full refund and order food from somewhere else? The delivery guy had no answers. Apparently he’s one of the owners. It was late, I was so hungry I just took the food and closed the door. I got a bag of one claw with about 3 legs and potatoes. Never ordering from here again.

High tide lobster bar – Menu with Prices – 502 W Riverside Ave Suite 204, Spokane

I would consider myself to be a Lobster Roll aficionado, I’ve tried them from the east coast and west coast north and south of both coasts, and these are the best I’ve ever had. 16 dollars a roll may seem expensive, but I see an average of 22 dollar per roll pretty much anywhere else, so don’t let the price deter you. The bread was wonderfully crunchy and a perfect vessel to house delicious cold lobster dressed in tarragon mayo, butter, and topped with fresh squeezed lemon. If you really pay attention you’ll actually notice that they’ve managed to preserve a bit of ‘brininess’ in the lobster, I don’t know how this is achieved, but it is absolutely divine to have a slight hint of that ‘cold ocean breeze’ left with you after finishing a roll. The clam chowder is really good as well, I ordered a small last time, but admittedly I probably could have finished the large. I’ll have to go back and try this without the lobster roll just for a fair judgement, because the lobster roll is a lot like driving a Porsche, anything after just isn’t as good. 10/10 this is the new hot spot in Spokane, and it’s worth the wait. You’ll have to enter a business plaza and climb to the second floor and likely brave a line, but if you’re at all into seafood this is fantastic.

Columbia Harbour House – Menu with Prices – 1180 Seven Seas Drive, Orlando

I think this is my favorite quick service meal place in Magic Kingdom. They had me at “Lobster Rolls”. And while their lobster roll isn’t much to brag about and if I was served the same thing in the New England area I’d be pissed, for Disney it’s a-okay and I’ll take it over the usual offerings of hotdogs and chicken fingers at quick service places. We got here right as they were opening and there was actually a line waiting to get in. Not a huge line, perhaps 25 people ahead of us as they were opening the doors. I sent my husband and son off to grab a table while I ordered since I know what they like anyhow. Got my son the kid’s chicken nuggets meal (because he would eat chicken nuggets all day every day) and my husband the trio platter while I stuck to that lobster roll. Also got a boston creme pie. Didn’t take long to order food or get it. Husband and son both loved their food and had no complaints, my son actually ate ALL of his which is rare. My lobster roll wasn’t bad, the roll was warm and buttered. It was mostly lettuce though, very little lobster. Paying that much for bread and lettuce with a few chunks of lobster isn’t awesome but again… I wasn’t eating a hotdog so beggars sometimes just need to suck up their complaints. I did like the house made chips that came with it! My husband loved his trio platter, I did steal 2 of his fried shrimp when he wasn’t looking and they were good. The boston creme pie would probably be my only real complaint. I didn’t care for it, neither did my husband. I’ll try the other dessert next time. Service was good, food was decent, and we were able to eat in a timely fashion. This place is a winner in the Magic Kingdom!

The Seafood House – Menu with Prices – 751 Azalea Rd, Mobile

Not atmospheric, but the staff is nice and the food is GOOD! Came in fully ready to eat a ridiculous amount of fried food. +Crab cakes filled with a lot of crab meat, nice fry, and its own ‘bangbang’ sauce. Top notch. +Deep fried soft shell crab – first time having this, it was great! Loved the claws especially. Lots of meat in the center too. Breading was so tasty, reminiscent of KFC to me (a compliment in my books). +Seafood house fries – I could LIVE IN THESE. Fries were so soft inside, and perfectly crisp on the outside. Delicious juicy shrimp and an addictive cheese/sauce combo poured on top – out of this world!! +Fried crab claw dinner – this was so interesting to me, never had fried crab claws before. Very good! Liked the ease of biting the meat off. Corn was super good, okra was alright. Only wish they made their own tarter/cocktail sauce!

Cousins Maine Lobster Raleigh – Menu with Prices – 411 W Morgan St, Raleigh

I was really looking forward to eating this tonight after seeing them on Shark Tank as well as the giant line their food truck has had at a few of the Raleigh food truck events. Between the 3 of my family members we ordered a Maine lobster roll, lobster tacos combo with tots, shrimp tacos, lobster bisque, 1 water and 1 lemonade. Total came to $55.48. The woman who took our order was friendly. This was really a mixed review of the food. I tasted all that was ordered to sample. The highlight was the lobster bisque. Very smooth consistency, great flavor and had a few pieces of chopped lobster mixed in. The lobster tacos were good as well, topped with fresh pico. The most lackluster item was unfortunately the one I personally ordered which was the cold lobster roll. The bun was nicely toasted with the perfect amount of butter to not be greasy. The lobster itself was cooked well, but really lacked seasoning. What surprised me most though was that it appeared to have no mayonnaise. The first few bites I took I didn’t taste any…then I realized it was globed on the bottom of the bun and the lobster placed on top. I hate to say it, but it was rather unappetizing (see pic). My suggestion would be for the lobster to be mixed with a seasoned mayonnaise mixture and also to throw on some traditional celery leaves. The slaw had potential, but really lacked seasoning as well. Lastly, the shrimp tacos, like the lobster ones, had great flavor. They were loaded, but with TINY shrimp. My husband agreed he would’ve rather had 5-6 medium/large shrimp to actually have something to bite in to, rather than several extra small shrimp.

Luke’s Lobster Portland Pier – Menu with Prices – 60 Portland Pier, Portland

Definitely a fan of this place! Although there are many places to get a drink and a lobster roll in Portland, I think this place genuinely added something new and I’m here for it. I thought this would be a place for tourists (and it definitely is) but its great for locals too. I think what sets it apart is the upscale vibe and spacious 2nd floor deck. There are places to get a drink and eat seafood with an upscale vibe (ex. Scales) but they are either very expensive or very crowded or both. There are more casual places on the water to get seafood and a drink (Portland Lobster Co, The Porthole, etc.) but sometimes you want something a little more upscale. Luke’s is the perfect medium between these two extremes, where you can get great views, great drinks, feel like you’re in a nice restaurant but not pay outrageous prices. Is it more pricey than Portland Lobster Co? A little. But I would argue the ambiance is worth it, especially if you’re bringing out of town guests. I went at 6pm on Both Friday and Saturday night and it was busy, but I also had no trouble finding space on the deck to relax. Here is the depth Lobster roll review for those people who really want the details. Based on pictures, the regular looked a little skimpy so I ordered the Jumbo. The lobster roll comes with chips and you have to pay a dollar extra to upgrade to fries, which is annoying because the jumbo lobster roll is already $26. When I picked the roll up, I will admit it was heavy and had a lot of lobster. I actually felt like I ate a full meal when I was done with it – which isn’t always the case. The Lobster itself was mostly claw meat, and I did get a few pieces of shell in there (no big deal, it happens sometimes). The dressing/seasoning was light. So if you’re a Lobster purist this is your spot. It actually didn’t come with a wedge of lemon, which was a little disappointing (I know I am being nit-picky here but I take my lobster rolls seriously). Overall – still not my favorite, but definitely very good. Less of a rip off than 2 Lights, and a better roll than Portland Lobster Co. Tourists, if you are only in Portland for a day and are looking to have a nice drink with a beautiful view and eat a lobster roll, I would come here. If you don’t care about the ocean view and you would rather drink craft beer with your lobster roll, go to High Roller or the Bite Into Maine food truck at Allagash. Locals: Come here for the 2nd floor bar/deck, and if you happen to get hungry the food is good too.

The Juicy Crab – Menu with Prices – 2205 Pleasant Hill Rd, Duluth

I have heard time and time over again that this is the place order seafood boils/bags. There have been times where I have driven by it (visible from Pleasant Hill), and you can see the swarm of vultures waiting outside. I was told that they at least built a larger waiting area outside to accommodate the masses. It was finally time to check the place out. My friend had a reservation (as we were there to meet her friend who worked there), but we still had to wait for a table- I get it. The place inside, at least on a Sunday afternoon, gets fairly busy. Even the take out line up front is busy. This place all around screams vandalism- there are markings over the majority of the walls and furniture. With that being said, I find it funny at some areas specifically say “do not mark”. Not sure what is so sacred about that area- I mean hell, you would think the whole place is fair game. If you were to be inside, you would definitely get a better understanding of what I speak of. Someone had mentioned that this place wouldn’t be a great place for a first date. Where we sat, I kind of get it- especially the way some tables are set up. We sat next to a family with a little kid. While, for the most part, the kid behaved, it was my foul mouth that made me feel bad. I guess, he was probably gonna hear that kind of stuff down the road eventually. When Nan (our server) came, she was pretty quick. Her service was definitely the best part of the meal. This place has a full bar, along with their specialty of blue crabs. They even have a house brew (the Juicy Brew). However, when I ordered it, they didn’t have any. Or the crabs. I mean, you think there would be an endless supply of the house staples, but I guess not. So, we decided to get a dozen oysters to start, and I got a bag with Dungeness crab and a lobster tail (never seen that as an add on before). With the bag, you get one piece of corn, and one potato. When the oysters came out, they were interesting. Its like they were lukewarm, but on ice- that was an odd mix for me- but I lived to tell the tale thank goodness. The boil bags came out pretty quickly, and when I opened mine- I was damn near convinced I had snow crab. There was no claw meat, and the shells had that snow crab smoothness. But, at least it was still crab meat (not what I expected though). The first thing I did go for, was the lobster tail- and that was the most disappointing. The best way I could describe the lobster tail is when you are carving a pumpkin and you have to scrape the seeds out of the inside and while you scrape you get seeds and the pulp. The lobster was like the pulp- it was almost glued on the shell. Never again. The crab, was alright, but again, I was expect meaty Dungeness crab, not some malnourished crustacean from the bottom of a dumpster. Even the corn, and potato were mushy, like they had just been sitting all day. Thank goodness my friend was getting full so I got to eat some crawfish and shrimp- or else I was going to have to go somewhere else to get another meal. For a dozen oysters, 2 drinks, and 2 bags, it was around $105 (before tip). If it was quality, it would be one thing, but I almost felt like I was scammed. But, let’s be honest, I am starting to feel like that on a lot of things about life, but I will keep that talk off the airwaves. My suggestion- come when this place isn’t a madhouse (sorry not sure when that is), or don’t come at all. There are a lot of these types of places in the area so at you know there are options out there.

Lakewood Ranch Lobster Pound and Fresh Seafood Bistro and Market – Menu with Prices – 8740 E State Rd 70, Bradenton

We were looking for a quick place for lunch and drove by and saw the Lobster Pound. It’s a small place with about 4 tables inside and 4 outside and 2 owner/employees. The service was very good and there is a variety of lunch options to choose from. Most menu items for a full lunch were in the $12 – $15 range. While the lobster roll was $17 for a regular one and $27 for the jumbo. While waiting for our order they brought us free samples of Oyster chowder which my husband said was amazing. He ordered the fish tacos and I had the bang bang shrimp. He said the tacos were one of the best meals he has eve had in a restaurant. The shrimped was excellent – large fresh butterflied pieces. (could have used a little more sauce). They chef came out to make sure we were doing ok and that that the food was to our liking. It was very obvious that he took pride in his cooking as he checked with all customers. This place was a little gem and we will go back for sure!!!!

Fresh Stone Crabs – Menu with Prices – 1040 Biscayne Blvd, Miami

For those not aware…The Florida stone crab season starts on October 15th and continues until Mother’s Day in May. This is a delivery service only (no storefront). If you haven’t had Florida Stone Crabs and love seafood….this may push the king crab off its throne as the caviar of crab meat. While staying in MIA, I wanted to have some stone Crabs for a social gathering. I researched online and ran across this business. I called Shelley and he offered to deliver the order free of charge to my location. He had several sizes that particular day but not colossal. However, the jumbo size did not disappoint. Stone Crabs were delightfully sweet and definitely fresh. The mustard sauce complimented the sweet crab meat. I was unable to enjoy my other courses that evening due to how much crab I ate. The crab meat was so delicious that I ate till I could no more (7 jumbo claws). I look forward to ordering overnight delivery service from the Northeast.
